The article by English journalists is not fiction at all - the bear Stepan and the Panteleenko family really exist. But the British deliberately did not emphasize the fact that Yuri and Svetlana Panteleenko are trainers.

Stepan the Bear - the “star” of Russian cinema

The Russian media wrote about Stepan more than once. The Panteleenkos actually began working with the animal when it was still a bear cub.
