On September 8, Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin took part in the technical launch of the first section of the Third Interchange Circuit of the Moscow Metro from the Delovoy Tsentr station to Petrovsky Park. The event was also attended by Deputy Mayor of Moscow for Urban Development Policy and Construction Marat Khusnullin, Head of the Moscow City Construction Department Andrey Bochkarev, Head of the Moscow Metro Viktor Kozlovsky, President of JSC INGEOCOM Association Lev Gnidenko and General Director of JSC INGEOCOM Association Igor Usoltsev .

Sergei Sobyanin arrived at the Shelepikha station of the Moscow Central Circle (MCC) and talked with Muscovites in the lobby.

The mayor told residents of the capital that soon another ring will appear in the Moscow metro, which will surpass the MCC in terms of passenger traffic and speed of transportation.

“The project of a large underground metro ring is becoming a reality. Today the first stage of construction from Petrovsky Park to the Business Center has been completed. The site is very important,” emphasized Sergei Sobyanin.

According to him, the first section of the Third Interchange Circuit will seriously affect changes in Moscow’s transport infrastructure, relieve congestion on the radial directions of the metro and the existing Circle Line, and also create new opportunities for transport services for Muscovites.

The mayor of Moscow explained that passenger traffic at five stations of the new metro section will range from 200,000 to 300,000 people per day.

“Literally a few months after commissioning, passenger trains will begin operating here,” he noted.

Sergei Sobyanin said goodbye to the townspeople and moved from the lobby of the Shelepikha station to the metro station of the same name.

Accompanied by builders, designers, representatives of the Moscow Metro and members of the Moscow government, the mayor rode a test train in the driver's cabin on the new line, visiting the Shelepikha, Khoroshevskaya, CSKA, and Petrovsky Park stations.

JSC "Engeocom Association" is the contractor for the construction of the section of the Third Interchange Circuit of the Moscow Metro from the Delovoy Tsentr station to Nizhnyaya Maslovka. The line includes 6 stations: 5 newly built (Nizhnyaya Maslovka, Petrovsky Park, Khodynskoye Pole, Khoroshevskaya, Shelepikha) and 1 under construction (Business Center). The construction length of the section is 12.76 km. The construction of these stations will mark the beginning of the formation of a new metro interchange circuit, which will provide transfers from one line to another without the use of overloaded central interchange hubs. The facility is planned to be put into operation in two stages: I - the section from the Delovoy Tsentr station to Petrovsky Park, II - the section from the Petrovsky Park station to Nizhnyaya Maslovka.
