Christmas tree made of wool

Making such a felted Christmas tree craft from wool with your own hands at home for a school competition is very simple if you follow our step-by-step photo instructions.

PHOTO: Christmas tree made of wool
  • We buy green wool for felting. We make a tight cone out of it.

  • We separate the wool from the skein by tearing it off with our hands.

  • Place the cone on a wet sponge and felt it. It is advisable to use a pen with a special needle attached.

  • Rotate the wool Christmas tree cone frequently, wet it with soapy water (warm) and wring it out lightly (do not damage the shape!)

  • Place the tree on a bag moistened with water, rotate it, and continue to fall.

  • Using the same pattern, make woolen balls for the Christmas tree with your own hands.

  • Carefully sew the made balls onto the Christmas tree.

  • Our Christmas tree can be decorated with a red garland. You need to twist the craft diagonally, securing the thread with stitches. For decoration you can use beads and various jewelry.

Christmas tree base

Any craft in the form of a Christmas tree for the New Year, made with your own hands for school or kindergarten, is a cone-shaped base, decorated with interesting decor. First, let's look at how you can make this base. There are two options here. One is simple, more suitable for kindergarten, but will also be good for school, and the second option is more complicated, you will have to tinker with it, but the result will exceed all expectations.

To create a simple base for a Christmas tree we will need:

  • thick paper, perhaps whatman paper or cardboard;
  • glue, stapler;
  • a simple pencil and scissors.

Now let's get started:

  1. Draw a semicircle on paper with a simple pencil. Its diameter is equal to the height of the Christmas tree multiplied by
  2. Cut out a semicircle and fold it into a cone. The edges need to be slightly overlapped and glued or secured with a stapler.
  3. You can cut off a small sector from the semicircle so that the cone is sharper and higher.

Making the base of the Christmas tree out of paper

The base is ready. If you are planning a light decoration, then you can limit yourself to this, but you can continue. To seal the cone, you can stuff it with tightly crumpled newspapers, cut a circle along the diameter of the base of the cone from thick cardboard, for example, from a box, and glue it into the cone. So, it will be denser and more stable.

This version of the cone is suitable for a DIY Christmas tree craft for kindergarten. Simpler creations are needed, but such a cone can be decorated in quite interesting and complex ways, so different options are possible.

Decorate the base with tinsel

Let's now look at a more complex base for the Christmas tree. For it you need to make the same cone with filling and a base made of thick cardboard, but a little smaller in size, as described above and a beautiful base, we will now disassemble it.

For work we will prepare:

  • a paper cone made as described above;
  • any stick, twig, thick wire for the trunk;
  • jute rope;
  • thermal gun;
  • a glass or any small pot;
  • gypsum.

Let's make the base like this:

  1. The stick for the barrel must be inserted into the base of the cone and secured with glue. If the wire is prepared for this purpose, then it should be wrapped in jute rope for beauty.
  2. Pour plaster into a glass and dilute it slightly with water, mix and insert a Christmas tree with a leg into it. Let it harden.

The base is ready. Now all that remains is to decorate the Christmas tree cone and the glass. The glass can be wrapped in burlap, jute rope or sisal. Decorate the top with the same decor as the cone.

There is also a very simple option for creating the basis for a Christmas tree for the New Year. To do this, you need a disposable tall glass with a stem. The knife needs to be detached and glued to a second such leg to create a coil shape: a flat round bottom, a leg and a flat round top. Now we glue the inverted part of the glass in the form of a cone to the flat base on one side.

Of course, you can buy a ready-made polystyrene foam cone at any craft store.

Now let's look at various decor options.

New Year's beauties made of paper and napkins for 2018

DIY crafts in the form of a New Year tree made from paper or paper napkins are very suitable for kindergarten. They are easy to make, and you can make these Christmas trees with your children. There are many options here. Let's look at some of them.

Christmas trees made from napkins

For any of the options we will need:

  • colored paper, preferably double-sided, or colored paper napkins;
  • glue and scissors.

Ways to decorate a Christmas tree for kindergarten and school:

  • To decorate a Christmas tree-cone, take colored paper of two shades and cut it into strips. They can be 10 by 1 or 2 centimeters in size. Fold these strips into loops without smoothing the fold, leaving it free, and glue the ends together. Using these loops, cover the Christmas tree from bottom to top in straight rows or in a spiral, alternating colors. You can first paint the cone itself in the color of the paper loops so that it does not stand out. But the loops need to be glued close to each other. The fluffiness and beauty of the Christmas tree depends on this.

DIY paper Christmas tree
  • From colored paper, instead of loops, you can cut out palms. To do this, you need to circle the child’s palms several times and paste them over the cone; they will imitate spruce paws. It is better to glue the palms from the bottom up, and before doing this, paint the cone green.

  • take corrugated paper and cut it into strips. Cut each strip finely along one edge. Cover the cone with stripes from bottom to top. Glue the terry strips overlapping to create a fluffy effect. Afterwards, you can decorate the Christmas tree with beads or bobbles glued on top.

  • Wrap the cone in corrugated paper of any color. Press it tightly and secure with glue at the joints. Wrap the resulting Christmas tree randomly with thin satin ribbons of the same color or two different shades. Glue a satin ribbon bow to the top of your head. Glue beads or bobbles scattered around the Christmas tree.

To do this you need to prepare:

  • manufactured cone;
  • colored napkins;
  • paints to match the napkins;
  • stapler and glue;
  • any beads, decorative elements.

Photo of a Christmas tree made by yourself

We make a Christmas tree for kindergarten or school for a New Year's competition like this:

  1. Let's paint the cone to match the napkins.
  2. Cut the napkins into squares measuring approximately 4 by 4 centimeters.
  3. In the center of the square we will fasten it with a stapler.
  4. Now we form fluffy flowers from squares. To do this, you need to compress layer by layer towards the middle. When all the layers are individually twisted towards the middle, you need to fluff the flower so that it becomes fluffy.
  5. We cover the Christmas tree with these fluffy flowers. We start from the bottom and move upward in a spiral. You can make a single-color Christmas tree, or you can combine a couple of different shades of napkins, alternating multi-colored rows or making inclusions of flowers of a different tone.

A fluffy Christmas tree made from napkins can be decorated with any small decorative elements: beads, sequins, snowflakes, bows.

We use disposable tableware

Amazing and beautiful, yet very inexpensive Christmas trees can be made from disposable tableware - plastic forks, for example. To do this, you need to make a cone out of paper, prepare several forks by breaking off the handles from them, leaving only the teeth on the base.

These parts of the forks need to be attached with glue to the cone, starting from the bottom at the broken end so that the teeth are turned upward. We fasten the forks tightly to each other and overlap. Then you can decorate with any decorative elements by gluing them to the forks.

Original Christmas tree

You can do the same with disposable spoons. But the spoons need to be glued so that they are turned down, imitating snow-covered spruce paws.

A very interesting Christmas tree can be made from ordinary plastic cups. It does not require a cone; it will itself have the shape we need. For such a Christmas tree, prepare:

  • plastic cups - 17 pieces;
  • glue in a gun or stapler;
  • tinsel;
  • small New Year's balls - 15 pieces.

We make a Christmas tree like this:

  1. We need to fold and fasten the cups in a special way. We make rows of them, placing cups side by side and fastening them together with a stapler or glue. We lay them side to side, necks first, in each row the number of cups: 2 cups, 5,4,3,2,1. We fasten each row on top of each other.
  2. Cut the tinsel into small pieces and glue a piece to the bottom of each glass.
  3. Attach a ball to the neck of each cup, except the bottom two.

An amazing and simple craft for kindergarten can be made from disposable plates and clothespins.

To do this, you need to cut the plate into segments: a semicircle and a second semicircle in half.

Color the plate if it is not the right color. Then glue these segments onto the cardboard base like this: a semicircle at the bottom, then two more segments on top of each other. All that remains is to attach clothespins to the edges of each layer of plates, imitating fluffy spruce branches. Afterwards, you can decorate the Christmas tree by attaching beads, small bows or pompoms.

Amazing Christmas trees made from pasta and coffee

A craft in the form of a Christmas tree for the New Year with your own hands can be decorated with interesting decor from pasta; it can be made for kindergarten and school. Pasta is something that everyone almost always has at home, and even if a child announced at 9 o’clock in the evening that they needed a New Year’s craft by tomorrow morning, you can make such a Christmas tree.

Christmas tree made of pasta

To work you will need:

  • paper cone;
  • pasta of any shape or several different shapes;
  • hot glue;
  • acrylic paint;
  • elements of New Year's decor.

Making a Christmas tree:

  1. Use pasta of the same shape or different shapes. Then you will need to alternate rows of pasta.
  2. Seal the cone with pasta from bottom to top. Pasta can be arranged in a spiral, circles or rays converging at the top. It is better to attach the pasta to the cone using hot glue.
  3. After the entire Christmas tree is covered with pasta, you can paint it with acrylic paint in gold, green or any other color. The pasta beauty can be decorated with any decor by attaching it to the top with glue.

Snowy Christmas trees made of cotton wool and cotton pads

Now let’s look at how to make a craft in the form of a Christmas tree for the New Year with your own hands from cotton pads. To do this, you need a base - a paper cone decorated with cotton pads. Before starting the process, you need to fold the cotton pads in a special way.

There are two options:

  1. Fold the disc in half and then in half again and secure it.
  2. We simply roll up the disk, forming a small flower. The edges of the disc can be dipped in gold or silver paint.

Using discs folded in one of these ways, we paste over the workpiece. We start from the bottom and move upward in a spiral. You need to glue the cotton pads quite close to each other so that there are no gaps. The discs can be pre-painted with gouache in any color. In this case, you need to paint the base of the Christmas tree in the same color.

Photo ideas for crafts Christmas trees for kindergarten and school:

Another way to decorate a Christmas tree with cotton pads is to tint the pads:

  1. Dilute gouache of any color, for example, green or blue, in water and use a very wet brush to walk along one edge of the cotton pad. Get a beautiful toning of the edge.
  2. Tint some rims.
  3. When they are dry, go over the edge with a thin brush with golden acrylic or an outline on golden fabric.
  4. Then you need to cover the cone of the Christmas tree with even tinted discs. Place the discs with the tinted area facing down. You need to start gluing from the bottom, gluing each subsequent row with an overlap.

To complete the look, you can decorate the beauty with any small New Year's balls, pompoms, snowflakes, bells, and so on. You can make such a Christmas tree for school or kindergarten!

Christmas tree made of cotton pads

When the base for the Christmas tree is ready, decorating it with a beautiful and interesting craft will not be difficult, but will only bring positive emotions and joy from creativity. You can use absolutely any items to decorate the Christmas tree:

  • threads, wound into balls;
  • natural materials: pine cones, dried orange slices, cinnamon sticks, coffee beans;
  • nuts, unnecessary buttons, all the rubbish.

If you have a lot of unnecessary nuts, metal fasteners, plates, chains, etc. lying around, glue everything that has accumulated with glue to the base in the form of a cone. Use glue from a gun or "Titan". After the entire Christmas tree is pasted over, it needs to be painted.

It is better to use gold spray acrylic paint. But you need to paint outside, as it smells very strong. After painting, the Christmas tree will have an amazingly beautiful look.

Creative DIY Christmas tree

If you want something original, or you simply don’t have enough space for a large Christmas tree at home, you can try making such a simple design.

It is worth noting that such a Christmas tree is suitable for any room. It can be done both at home with children and at work.

This tree can rise 1.5-2 meters and takes up almost no space in the house. In addition, it is a good background for New Year's photography.

You will need:

Foam base or matte cardboard

Scissors

Corrugated paper

Masking tape

Adhesive tape

PVA glue

Stationery knife

Marker, optional

1. Lay out foam or cardboard on a flat surface to create a large rectangle (see picture).

2. Use duct tape to connect all the parts.

*This example used black duct tape for better visibility, but white tape is better.

3. Mark the size of your future Christmas tree using masking tape.

4. Using a utility knife, carefully cut out the shape of the future tree.

5. Prepare corrugated paper, fold it in half and cut the fringe. You should have many sheets of fringed paper to cover the entire tree.

6. Begin carefully gluing the corrugated paper to the foam, starting at the base of the tree. The fringe should hang slightly below the base to cover the foam (or cardboard), and also slightly cover the top of the tree trunk, which we will make later.

7. Work your way up to the top, covering the entire tree with a bright green coat of crepe paper.

8. Add a hook to the back of the tree so the tree can be hung. Instead of a hook, you can use double tape to cover the perimeter of the tree.
