About the manufacturing process:

My friend cut out the plexiglass rods for me, I honestly don’t know how. I had ready-made rods in my hands.

I take the rods and place them one at a time in the oven on a baking sheet so that the rod lies on the sides of the baking tray and the middle hangs. This is necessary to see when the middle begins to sag, which means the rod has heated up, you can take it out and bend it, which is what I did.

I used a salad bowl as a form. The diameter of the salad bowl is 105 mm. While the rod is hot, bend it around the salad bowl and cut off the excess with a hacksaw.

I glued the tape with a glue gun at the soldering points. Then we cover this entire creation with aluminized tape, all sides except the front. Next, we drill a hole in the reflector, on top for the cable, and put the eye into the reflector with a glue gun. Then the glass is sealed. That's it, that's the whole point. Everything is elementary simple.

Regarding the glue gun: I don’t know whether it will disappear or not, we’ll see. I heard that the glue can withstand temperatures up to 90 degrees. If it falls off, I'll remove the glass and put epoxy on my eye.

In terms of costs: I bought 5m of tape for 145 UAH, shared with a friend. Glue costs a pretty penny. There was sealant. As a result, I spent at most 100 UAH. 🙂

Then, using three points of silicone, we glue our dimensional rings to the glasses of the optics (it is advisable to buy 2 pairs of new glasses for optics when buying rings), before installing the glasses with our eyes, we coat the body with transparent sealants and wait until it dries. We install our headlights in place and rejoice at the result.

The second method differs from the first only in the basis. We do not take ready-made rings as a basis, but make them ourselves. Typically, these eyes are installed only for low beam. For this we will need: a round board with LEDs with a diameter of 13 cm - 2 pcs., new glasses for optics - 2 pcs., insulated wire with a cross-section of 0.2-2 meters, silicone, male-female stamps - 2 pcs., round stamps " minus" - 2 pcs., relay. We remove the headlights from the car and carefully (with a knife) get to the inside. We remove factory silicone. We drill holes for additional wiring. We try on our rings and place them not on the glass as in the first case, but on the headlight housing. We connect our wiring, put the glass back, generously lubricate it with sealants, and completely fill the wiring area with sealants. We install the headlights in place and rejoice.

The third manufacturing method will be a little complicated and lengthy, since the basis is a plastic transparent stick, from which we will make the eyes. In general, the installation technology does not change. You just have the task of making rings. Let's prepare: 4 plastic sticks 45 cm long, 8 LEDs and 4 resistances of 2 Kom each. In order to bend the sticks into the desired shape, we will need a 200 g coffee jar. Having previously warmed the sticks to a flexible state, we will give them the desired shape with a radius of 13 cm, then we will install our diodes at the two ends of our now rings, having previously drilled holes there for our diodes. After which the diodes are connected through resistances to the main power supply and filled with colorless heat-resistant sealants. Next is the assembly process according to the already described scheme and the result.

We will call the fourth method of making angel eyes “correct”. We will take gas-filled rings as a basis. Having determined the exact radius, they can be taken ready-made. The technology for installing the peepholes themselves is already familiar to us, which is added in this “correct” method. These eyes must be connected via a relay, which is included in the kit, the second one is turned on by a separate button, and most importantly, these headlights are of an ideal round shape, which gives the effect of regular, beautiful, angel eyes.

How to make angel eyes on a VAZ 2106 - step-by-step instructions.

Step 1 – creating tuning rings.

You need to make round rings from sticks prepared in advance; you can use a coffee can (200 g) as a template for them.

And in order for the plastic to become more flexible, it must be preheated, for example, in boiling water. At the same time, you should prepare 2 pliers. As soon as the plastic warms up to the required state, pull it out with pliers and wrap it around the can, this is where another pliers come in handy.

In this way, 4 plastic rings are prepared. But you can remove them from the jar only when the plastic has cooled and hardened.

Step 2 – inserting the electrical component.

A hole is drilled at each end of the ring, corresponding in length and width to the parameters of the LEDs.

For LEDs, the legs are cut off at a distance of 5 mm from the bulb (mark the polarity: where there is a boss, there is a positive contact). Next, the LEDs are soldered parallel to each other, a wire is soldered to each contact: it is better to use different colors so as not to get confused later on where the “+” and “-” are.

At a distance of 10-15 cm from the soldered diodes, a cut is made on the positive wire (which leads to the boss) into which the resistance is soldered. Then the LEDs are inserted into the holes prepared for them at the ends of the ring. For a better final effect, it is recommended to drop a drop of any transparent varnish (for women, for nails) into these holes immediately before this action; it will serve as an additional connector.

Step 3 – connecting the structure.

After the required time has passed, notches are made along the entire length of the ring with a hacksaw blade, the notch pitch is 1 cm, but it can vary depending on the quality of the plastic. The depth of the notches is 0.5 mm.

The structure is then connected to electricity. If all the LEDs are functioning and the light is distributed evenly, you can proceed directly to installing angel eyes on the VAZ 2106 with your own hands.

To install angel eyes, you will first have to remove the glass from the headlights, not forgetting to mark on the back of the latter which one is near and which is far. Most often, glass is difficult to dismantle and is simply knocked out.

New (removed) glass is coated with headlight sealant.

• take a round shape. In its role, you should use a round salad bowl or coffee can. Using pliers, we bend the heated plastic tube around the perimeter of a round shape;

Note! Be careful while shaping the tube. so that it is not overheated. Otherwise, small bubbles may form in the plastic.

• Next, we wait for the tube to completely harden;
• after that, we saw off the edges so that LEDs can be installed in the tube;
• then we assemble the resistor and LEDs, carefully insulate the contacts and grind the soldering points;
• then you need to make notches on the tube in increments of approximately 2-2.5 mm. In this case, you should retreat 1–1.5 cm from the edges;

Note! To ensure that the notches are made evenly, the process of their formation must be controlled using a plastic clamp. If you make notches with the LEDs turned on, then you can already at this stage view the final result of your work.

Notches on the pipe

• In order for the glow emanating from the LEDs to be uniform and bright enough, the notches should be placed closer to the center. At the same time, they need to be made deeper: in the middle - 5 mm, and at the ends - 2 mm;
• after this, it is necessary to solder the diodes, making sure to observe the sequence so that the current flowing through them is equalized. The tape should be cut and soldered only in specially designated areas;
• We finally insert the LEDs into the tube.

As a result, the ends of the rings should have holes 5-7 mm long and 5 mm in diameter. It is recommended to use foil to cover the ends of the plastic tube.
If an LED strip is used, it is simply glued to a plastic strip. In this case, the tape is soldered according to the standard scheme.
Before installing your homemade “angel eyes” system on your car, be sure to check it for build quality, the glow of the LEDs and the strength of the resulting structure. Otherwise, if problems are discovered after installation, it will be very difficult to eliminate defects.
