Bormio is the best ski resort in the Dolomites. Such statements can be found on travel agency websites. What do ski tourists say in their reviews?

The ancient city of Bormio is located in Lombardy, in the popular ski region of Alta Valtellina. The resort is known for its ski slopes, thermal springs and high level of service. World alpine and cross-country skiing championships have been held here several times.

“We chose where to go in winter a long time ago. The ski resort of Bormio is not a remote village, but a beautiful old town. Alpine skiing is only part of the holiday pleasures. There are 17 restaurants, a bunch of bars, shops with branded clothing, you don’t even need to go to Milan. And the local cuisine is exquisite and unusual.”

Road to Bormio

There are several ways to get there. The easiest way is by plane to Innsbruck, Bergamo, Brescia, or Verona. The closest is Bergamo Airport(165 km), the distance from Verona and Milan is 235 and 250 km, respectively. Transfers are usually included in package tours.

Natalisa:

“You don’t have to fly to Verona or Milan. A cheaper option is to fly to Munich and rent a car there.”

Trails of Bormio

The resort is located at an altitude of 1125 meters, the highest point is 3012 m above sea level, ski area 1225-3012 m, the length of marked ski slopes is about 100 km. The blue tracks account for about 35%, the red and black ones - 45 and 20%. 30 lifts operate: rope tows, chairs and cabins.

Andrey Kim:

“It’s great in Bormio: the mountains are indescribably beautiful, the snow is the sea, there are a lot of good red slopes, we didn’t strive for black ones. At 3100 it’s generally full drive. Sometimes we didn’t even go down for lunch - we ate goulash soup in a restaurant at the top and ran to the track. Compared to Val de Fassa, there are few people, even on weekends. On Thursdays there was evening skating.”

D. Noskov:

“The weather was pleasant: in the valley - up to 10, on the peaks - from 0 to -2 o C. In a week we rode twice as much as in two at Russian resorts with endless queues. The level of security here is much higher. Once we took an instructor for off-piste powder skiing - it was a fairy tale.”

Roman Ov:

“The greatest difference in altitude is 3000-1250 m, you can drive without stopping. The first lifts opened at 8 a.m., and “Budka” and the cable car - from 9 a.m. A large selection of red pistes: both virgin and smoothed by snowcats. The most picturesque - Bimbi al Sole, it is also the longest - 6 km. For the pros - black cup tracks: Stelvio, 4 km long, very difficult Betulle And Valbella».

Ski pass - sky-pass

Several ski resorts in Lombardy are combined into one ski region - Alta Valtellina Lift Pass. The pass can only be purchased for skiing on the slopes of Bormio - "Bormio pass", or purchase one of the following: "4 Valli pass"(also valid on Cima Piazzi HM , Oga/S.Colombano, Santa Caterina Valfurva, Valdidentro) And "Alta Valtellina pass"(with the opportunity to ride in). Season ticket prices vary by season.

Special rates apply for ski passes: Baby(for children born in 2007 and younger), Junior(for youth born 1999-2006), Senior(for those born before 1950).

One day in high season Bormio pass for adults - 43 euros, in middle and low seasons -36 and 23 euros. For 6 days in high, middle and low seasons the cost is 190, 158 and 120 euros. Preferential prices for young people and the elderly during high season for 6 days - about 130 euros. For children, the cost of one day is 21 euros, and after the third day they ride for free. There are one-day tickets and for one-time climbs (11-17 euros in different zones). Ski passes for the entire ski area Alta Valtellina- a quarter more expensive.

Should I go to other resorts?

Natalisa:

“We rode around in Santa Caterina for a day. There is only one good run, under the main lift, and the rest are short and flat. But on Izolyacce it’s just a delight: the tracks are super.”

D. Noskov:

“We went to Livigno a couple of times to “justify” the ski pass. The tracks there are good, but far from each other, there was a crowd of people. Bormio is better in red. Buses run to other zones, the roads are mountain serpentine. It’s a pity to waste time moving.”

For those who dream of finding themselves in a fairy tale, we recommend considering offers from. Here you will find wonderful landscapes, well-groomed mountain slopes, and many cozy restaurants and cafes. Nearby is the small town of Ortisei, where there is an ice skating rink and ski schools for the little ones.

The Madonna di Campiglio resort is considered one of the best in the Italian Alps. Here both professionals and beginners will find trails to their liking. Read more about Madonna di Campiglio in.

Bormio Hotels

Finding suitable accommodation in Bormio is not a problem even in high season: there 68 hotels, apartments, guest houses. Reviews from guests are often accompanied by the epithets “amazing, excellent.” Bus service in Bormio is excellent; in addition to buses to the ski lifts, there are shuttle buses and hotel minibuses.

« Miramonti Park Hotel- one of the best memories! We liked the spa complex at the hotel even more than the city baths. Large warm room, delicious breakfast, pleasant professional service, private parking.”

Catherine:

"Hotel Ambassador 3* We chose it because of its proximity to the ski lift and price. First impression: the room is tiny, the breakfast is sad. But, right across the street from the hotel, there is a ski slope! After dinner I began to like the hotel more and more - I was simply captivated by the hospitality of the owners. I didn’t want to leave anymore.”

“We found a budget option - Sci Sport, 2*(34 euros per person/day). The room is large, 5 minutes to the ski lift. walk to the center - 10, supermarket - nearby. Clean and comfortable, great views.”

Resort for the whole family

Mitrofanovs:

“We went to Bormio with three children, the youngest was three. We lived in apartments, ate at home, and had all the necessary equipment. When the youngest was sent to kindergarten, we had lunch on the slopes. The child really liked the Snow kindergarten. The staff there is qualified, they worked with the children in the playroom, and mainly on the sports ground.”

Radiant:

“Bormio is a great place to put kids on skis. We booked a children's instructor for our daughter (4.5 years old), it cost 38 euros/hour. After 2 days, the girl confidently rode down the mountain, and most importantly, she enjoyed skiing. At 9 we handed her over to the instructor, by 10 he took her to kindergarten, and we had free skating until 13. Rental (skis, boots, helmet) for 6 days - 60 euros and plus kindergarten (first hour - 11, for 3 hours - 25 euros).”

“Several families gathered in March - with children and parents. We were looking for a place where there would be snow and entertainment for everyone in March. We stopped at Bormio and were not disappointed. Excellent skiing for both beginners and “aces”, mild climate, beautiful old town, wonderful promenades with shops, bars, cafes and restaurants. There are 6 ski schools. Grandmothers spent time in the thermal baths, went to neighboring Livigno - there is a free trade zone there.”

Kingdom of Sports

Bormio has excellent opportunities for sports all year round. You can go downhill skiing in the summer, it’s just that the slopes are half as long. The choice is huge: cross-country skiing (12 km of free trails), cycling, mountaineering, horse riding, tennis. And also golf and squash, roller skating, swimming, Nordic walking, archery, fitness, sport fishing. For snowboarders - a snow park with three lines for experienced and beginner boarders.

The city has a huge sports center: a swimming pool, an arena where basketball and football competitions are held, and an Olympic-sized indoor skating rink. The local speed skating team is the best in Italy.

Relax - thermal complexes

Bormio is very popular and how SPA resort. There are several hot springs here, known since ancient times, and three thermal complexes with swimming pools, saunas, baths, mud baths, and beauty salons. Many Bormio hotels have wellness centers.

Andrey Kim:

“The calling card of the SPA in Bormio is the panoramic views of the surrounding area from the saunas and pools. It’s great to lie in a thermal pool under the open sky: snowy mountains, stars overhead.”

Angelica:

“In first place is the SPA complex Bagni Nuovi. It’s beautiful, spacious, not many people (a little expensive - 136 euros for four). They gave out robes, slippers, and towels. Everywhere there are taps with shampoos, conditioners and creams. Various baths: saunas, aromatherapy, hammam, hydromassage baths. Part of the complex in the open air.

In the city baths Bormio Terme- half the price, but they don’t provide robes and slippers. There aren't many people either. IN Bagni Viecchi Places are reserved in advance. This oldest complex was visited by Leonardo da Vinci. In our opinion, it is the most inconvenient. You need to change clothes in the common locker room, behind a curtain, narrow corridors, tea is made of titanium. The main feature is a bathtub carved into a cave; hot water flows directly from the ground. The place is unique, but the conditions are so-so.”

“We walked through the picturesque National Park several times Stelvio: waterfalls, glaciers, mountain rivers, lakes, even saw deer. It’s beautiful, the impressions are unforgettable.”

Will you go to Bormio? We are waiting for your feedback.

Height difference: 1225-3017 m

Bormio- a unique ski resort in the Italian Alps. Everyone who comes to this corner of Lombardy finds exactly what they need. After all Bormio- an excellent place for skiers, lovers of noisy holidays, connoisseurs of antiquity, and adherents of thermal treatment. This ski area has a wide variety of trails and excellent slopes.

The resort has one of the largest elevation differences in Italy - 1792 m. Moreover, this entire difference can be covered “without transfers” from top to bottom and with virtually no empty flat runs. The resort hosts competitions of the highest rank. It is possible to undergo first-class treatment in the thermal complex. Numerous bars are open in the evening. There is fun at discos until late at night.

Bormio has been known for over a thousand years. The city was founded by the ancient Romans and for a long time remained the northern outpost of the Roman Empire. Even two thousand years ago, rumors about the healing waters of Bormio spread throughout the ancient world. In the Middle Ages, many outstanding personalities visited Bormio, including Leonardo da Vinci. There are many historical monuments left at the resort from those times.

Ski resort Bormio becomes in the 40s of the XX century. Subsequently, the main impetus for its development was the 1985 World Alpine Ski Championships.

Slopes, pistes, cable cars and lifts have been improved; New hotels were built, restaurants and shops were opened. These innovations have allowed Bormio to take its rightful place among the most prestigious Alpine ski resorts and welcome the most discerning tourists.

In January–February 2005 in Bormio The next world alpine skiing championship took place. In this regard, the ski lifts were modernized and a new cable car was built, delivering skiers to Bormio 2000 (Bormio, 2000). Travel time is 7 minutes, capacity is 2800 people per hour. A convenient underground parking lot was built next to the ski lift.

Characteristics of the routes

Beginner skiers feel very good in Bormio. There is a place for children to learn the basics of skiing: a special “paddling pool” with an escalator lift is equipped for them. “Advanced” skiers will also be pleased. Even aces will be satisfied with the complexity of some routes.

But mostly Bormio is an ideal place for intermediate skiers.

For professionals: We recommend the trails in the area of the Cima Bianca peak (3000 m). The descent here is very interesting, but quite dangerous due to the hard snow, so be careful. It is no coincidence that there are safety nets along the routes.

The summit of Cima Bianca has many opportunities for off-piste skiing. An excellent area for skiing on virgin soil can be the slopes of Le Motte - Oga. There are quite a few sparse forest areas here. The slopes are smooth and well prepared by nature itself, which makes skiing on fresh snow a real pleasure.

For intermediate skiers there is real freedom here. We advise them to ride the slopes that start from the top of Cima Bianca and lead to Bormio 2000. These slopes, due to their relief, are laid without runs and do not allow you to relax until the very finish. Their upper part (from the top of Cima Bianca and just below the Cimino station) runs outside the forest zone. The terrain of the trails is very interesting and conducive to dynamic skiing.

The most attractive line of trails, which allows you to descend from Cima Bianca to Bormio in about 20 minutes (a drop of about 1800 m), is located on the right (top to bottom) part of the slope. Stages of the Alpine Skiing World Cup (women's and men's downhill and giant slalom) are held on the corresponding (according to the start height) parts of this route from the Cimino station.

We especially note the wide, fairly steep direct descent to the Bormio-2000 station and the lower part of the route leading directly to the town of Bormio.

For beginners: We advise them to pay attention to the roads in the Bormio 2000 area. Please note that these routes contain difficult but interesting sections in some places. The easiest sections are located to the right of the new high-speed 4-seater lift, on the north side of the slope. Most of the routes pass through a very picturesque forest. We advise beginners to go down to the town on a ski lift, because... the routes leading down will be quite difficult for them.

Sports, entertainment

In the evening, it is worth visiting the city thermal complex, where you can swim in the pool, sit in the sauna, and lie in the mud baths. Recently the complex was completely rebuilt and updated. We also recommend visiting the thermal complexes BAGNI VECCHI And BAGNI NUOVO.

An excellent indoor skating rink attracts speed skaters and figure skating fans.

Fans of noisy parties are advised to visit the resort's bars, taste the legendary local liqueur Braulio, grappa - Italian vodka, and then go to the discos. Let's note one of the best discos in the Italian Alps, King’s Millennium Club. She works three days a week.

Every week, in the ancient square in the center of Bormio, a holiday presentation of the resort takes place: a film about Bormio and the region, performances by a dance group, hot wine and local sweets.

We especially highlight the Cleo Moda stores - here you can buy things from Prada, Armani, as well as Anna Moda - they sell clothes and accessories from D&G. There are many shops selling cheeses, preserves and sauces. We recommend buying mushroom sauce. Local chefs are especially successful at it.

The resort offers excursions to Milan, Bergamo, Lake Como, and the duty-free zone of Livigno, where you can buy alcohol, perfumes and cigarettes at very low prices. You can also go shopping to the towns of Tirano and Sondrio, located near Bormio.

Bormio is connected to Tirano by regular bus services. From Tirano you can take the train to any city in Italy. For example, the road to Milan takes only 3 hours.

THERMAL COMPLEX BORMIO TERME

The municipal thermal complex of Bormio was completely rebuilt for the 2004–2005 season. Open every day.

Visitors can enjoy a thermal pool, sauna, contrast showers, Turkish bath, hydromassage, gym, mud bath, inhalation room, and beauty salon. Therapeutic water procedures and various types of massage are offered (therapeutic, lymphatic drainage, anti-stress, improving the circulatory system).

Mud therapy and water procedures are recommended for metabolic disorders, diabetes, gynecological diseases, joint injuries, disorders of the digestive tract, musculoskeletal system, skin diseases, and disorders of the urinary system.

BAGNI VECCHI and BAGNI NUOVO

BAGNI VECCHI has been known since the times of the Roman Empire. It is carved into the rock and is divided into three parts: the Roman (ancient) - old baths in narrow dark caves, the medieval - warm baths with hydromassage, the Austrian - relaxation rooms, mud baths. The impressive outdoor swimming pool is located on the mountain, offering magnificent views of Bormio. Wooden pipes are laid along the edges of the stone walls of the pool, from which streams of hot water flow into its bowl. Peace and serenity reign in the thermal complex. Light music is playing. Children under 14 years old are not allowed there. They can visit the city complex.

Just below, an equally beautiful BAGNI NUOVO complex is built, also with outdoor and indoor thermal pools, grottoes, and cascades. Next to this complex is the GRAND HOTEL BAGNI NUOVI 5* hotel - the only five-star hotel in the resort.

– ski resort located in Italy, on high 1225 m above sea level.

Bormio has become widely known as a youth resort due to the presence of hotels, apartments and guesthouses with inexpensive accommodation options, as well as many nightclubs, discos, pizzerias, apres-ski bars and restaurants.

Despite this, Bormio can be recommended to ski lovers of all ages - skiing here is organized at the highest level. Two modern cabin lifts take skiers over the top of Bormio (at an altitude of 2000 m) to the highest point in the region - the Cima Bianca peak, whose height is 3017 m. The elevation difference here is about 1800 m, some slopes are recommended exclusively for professionals. There are red trails for intermediate levels; descending them will lead to Bormio itself. And for beginners or lovers of a quiet, leisurely ride, there are blue trails.

The longest route: from Bormio to Cima Bianca, its length is 10 km.

Not far from the main roads, on the Passo Stelvio pass, there is a unique ski area. It works only in summer, and in winter, when snow covers the pass, it closes.

In addition to ski slopes, Bormio also has thermal springs. Vacationers are offered two large complexes with thermal waters.

A special highlight of Bormio is the organization of special tours - ski trips, hikes in the footsteps of snow leopards, safaris.

Ski pass in Bormio

"Alta Valtellina" gives the opportunity to ski in Bormio, Livigno, Santa Caterina, Colombano - Oga.

Bormio 2000 operates in Oga, but not in Valdidentro.

The city's thermal complex offers a variety of wellness and relaxation treatments and services. The complex was completely rebuilt in 2004. There is a thermal pool, sauna, contrast showers, Turkish bath, hydromassage, gym, mud bath, inhalation room, beauty salon. Therapeutic water procedures and various types of massage are offered (therapeutic, lymphatic drainage, anti-stress, improving the circulatory system).

And in Valdidentro, located 10 minutes drive from Bormio, there is an old thermal complex built during the Roman Empire. The complex's outdoor pool is located on the mountain, offering magnificent views of Bormio. Along the edges of the pool there are wooden pipes from which natural hot water flows into the pool. Children under 14 years old are not allowed here.

Sport
The development of Bormio as a ski resort began in the 40s of the twentieth century. In 1985, the World Alpine Ski Championships took place here. It was this event that gave impetus to the further development of the resort. And now Bormio is one of the most equipped and advanced Italian resorts. The level of preparation of the trails meets the highest requirements. Alpine skiing World Cup stages are constantly held here.

Bormio has an excellent skating rink for speed skaters and figure skaters. There are 6 ski schools and 6 snowboard schools, a ski stadium, and a winter sports palace. There is a separate ski area and 4 lifts for children.

The resort has more than 45 restaurants, bars, pubs and cafes, discos, stylish shops, about 40 hotels, apartments and residences.

The resort is part of the Alta Valtellina ski region and is part of the Alta Valtellina Lift Pass, which gives you the opportunity to ski on the slopes of Livigno, Santa Caterina and San Colombano.

Attractions
Bormio has many cultural and historical attractions, including the St. Vitale Cathedral of the 12th century, the Alberti Tower of the 15th century, the Clock Tower of the 15th-17th centuries, the Palazzo De Simoni of the 18th century, and the ancient baths - "Bagni Vecchi".

Bormio is an Italian ski and thermal resort located in the Lombardy Alps, 200 km from Milan. It is part of the Alta Valtellina ski region, which also allows you to ski on the slopes of Livigno, San Colombano and neighboring Switzerland - in the Engadin region, which includes St. Moritz and other resorts. Bormio has one of the most significant elevation differences in Italy - 1792 m. The resort is well equipped, has a variety of slopes and hosts prestigious international competitions. The slopes of Bormio are very diverse: both those who are just starting to ski and those who are able to conquer the most difficult slopes will enjoy it here. Bormio is the largest thermal resort in northern Italy. Tourists who want to improve their health, fans of fun parties, discos and history buffs love to come here.

Business card

At the beginning of the 2000s, the World Alpine Ski Championships took place in Bormio. Thanks to this, the infrastructure of the resort has significantly improved: the slopes and ski lifts have become more modern, new hotels, cafes and shops have been built. All this has allowed Bormio to take a strong place among the best ski resorts in Italy and adequately welcome the most sophisticated tourists.

Trails, slopes, lifts

Bormio has 50 kilometers of slopes (10 blue, 8 red, 2 black slopes) with 16 lifts. Most of the blue runs are in the area of Bormio 2000, Chiuk and Le Motte. A special slope with its own ski lift is equipped for children, and ski schools are open. However, adult beginners also use the services of local instructors.

More advanced skiers will enjoy the route between Cima Bianca and Bormio (a drop of more than 1,700 m), as well as a fairly sharp direct descent to the Bormio 2000 station. Confident athletes can recommend the Le Motte area, whose trails run right through the forest.
For professional skiers and freeriders, we recommend the slopes in the Cima Bianca area (3000 m). Steep and difficult trails in this place are created by nature itself.

Springs and healing

Bormio is proud of its healing thermal springs, which, according to legend, were used by the ancient Romans. The water temperature in them depends on the time of year, but never drops below +37 degrees.

In Bormio, 9 springs come to the surface of the earth. The water in them is sulfate, alkaline earth, containing a small amount of radon, which is very rare in the Southern Alps.

In Italian Bormio there is a modern thermal complex Bormio Terme, a few kilometers from the city there are the ancient Bagni Vecchi (Baths of the Century) and Bagni Nuovo (Baths of Nuovo). The thermal complex offers swimming pools, a sauna, a hammam, a gym, and a beauty salon. Treatments offered include mud baths, inhalations and massages.

Medical specialization
Bormio thermal waters have an anti-inflammatory, regenerating, anti-stress effect on the human body and are successfully used in the treatment of a number of diseases:

  • respiratory diseases,
  • pathologies and injuries of the musculoskeletal system,
  • metabolic disorders (diabetes),
  • gynecological diseases,
  • disorders of the digestive tract,
  • genitourinary diseases (chronic pyeloniphritis, prostatitis, cystitis, male sexual dysfunction),
  • skin diseases.

The water in local springs contains a microscopic suspension of sulfobacteria - natural mud, which produces natural peeling of the skin during procedures.
