Nokia E52 technical specifications. Mobile phone Nokia E52. What's not to like? Weaknesses, disadvantages

The smartphone is a logical continuation of the younger “branch” of the E-series. Nokia E52 has become more aesthetically pleasing compared to its predecessor, and the amount of metal in the body has been reduced. The smartphone has a more capacious battery, which, according to the manufacturer, can operate in standby mode for up to 25 days (in GSM networks).

You can find out about all the changes between E52 and E51 in the table:.

Frame:

  • The phone body is made of anodized aluminum, metal is found in the edging, along the perimeter of the front part. The battery compartment cover is also made from it.
  • The model has two color options. Dark gray with elements of silver, and brown, somewhat reminiscent of the golden version.
  • The body dimensions have changed slightly compared to the E51. The display was enlarged, due to which the manufacturer had to slightly increase the height of the case.
  • The keyboard has become more convenient. All keys are on the same level, large in area and with a pleasant rough coating.
  • The device is equipped with a standard set of connectors: a memory card slot (accessible when the battery compartment cover is removed), a 3.5 mm headphone jack (top edge) and a microUSB connector, which is used for charging the battery and transferring data.
  • There are 4 buttons on the right side of the phone: activating the voice recorder, turning on the camera, and volume control buttons. On the left side there is a microUSB slot. The bottom edge is free of connectors.
Camera:
  • The camera has a 3.2 megapixel module with fixed focus. The thickness of the device affects.
  • The camera module does not protrude from the body, but, of course, there is no protective lens shutter.
Display:
  • In the E52 model, Nokia has worked hard on the display characteristics. The diagonal has increased to 2.4 inches (2 inches in the previous model), and an accelerometer has also been added for comfortable work in a horizontal position.
Communications:
  • To transfer data via USB, 3 operating modes are used.
  • Mass Storage mode is designed to use the phone as a regular storage device (like a flash drive).
  • PC Suite mode - for synchronizing contacts and other information from a PC.
  • Connect PC to Web mode - for using the phone as a link between the PC and the Internet.
  • The phone supports IP telephony technology, but the use of this technology is provided only via Wi-Fi to talk using 3g.
Hardware:
  • The smartphone is built on an ARM 11 processor with an increased processor frequency of 600 MHz, which is impressive for a device of this size.
  • The device has a built-in memory of 60 MB, which is expanded by a 1 GB memory card, which it comes with.
  • 128 MB of RAM, the user is provided with 40 MB.
GPS navigation:
  • The device has the new, third version of Ovi Maps installed.
  • There is a separate mode for pedestrians, with voice prompts.
  • Has a digital compass
Additional features:
  • It is possible to turn off the built-in accelerometer.
  • One of the exotic functions is present: rejecting a call when you turn the phone over (the accelerometer is triggered).

One of the most popular models in the line of business phones from Nokia, the so-called E-series, is the E51. Small-sized, with good functionality, in an elegant case with metal elements, it appealed not only to businessmen. Those who need a regular mobile phone without unnecessary “decorations”, but at the same time reliable, also appreciated this model. But progress does not stand still, and from time to time phones need to be updated. This update was the E52 model, which will be discussed specifically in our review.

The Nokia E52 model is one of 3 phones within the E-series, built on the latest hardware platform. The remaining 2 are E55 and E72. All three mobile phones are made in a traditional monoblock form, have a similar design and differ from each other only in their keyboards.

The E52, like the most common model, has a simple telephone keypad, the E55 has a 20-key QWERTY keyboard, and the screen is rotated and placed horizontally. Nokia E55 will not be supplied to the Russian market, because it is not possible to arrange our layout on 20 buttons.

All this is placed in a medium-sized box. The most unusual of the accessories is the adapter for the charger. It allows the use of not only chargers with a Micro-USB connector, but also branded “chargers” with both narrow and thick connectors to charge the battery. Why might this be needed? Let's say there are a couple of chargers left from old Nokia phones, and it is completely logical to place them in different places: in an apartment, in an office, in a country house. But due to the transition to the Micro-USB standard, they cannot be used to charge the new Nokia E52. This is where the adapter comes in handy - it’s small, you can carry it in your bag and use it as needed. The described situation occurs quite often, and the developer’s concern for the compatibility of old accessories with new mobile phones cannot but rejoice.

The included stereo headset is the simplest, with a call answer key. There is no remote control for the player - Nokia E52 does not belong to the music series.

Appearance

The appearance of the new model has not changed much compared to the Nokia E51, but the changes have definitely been beneficial. The E52 looks stylish, while remaining within the framework of a serious business model. There are 2 body color options: gold and silver, we tested the 2nd option. Both plastic and metal are used in the design of the case, with more plastic parts. This made it possible to reduce the weight of the mobile phone. Namely, the shiny rim around the front panel has become plastic - it is only painted to look like metal, but it is not that. The base of the case - the sides, ends and part of the rear panel - are made of simple matte gray plastic. The part of the front panel around the display is usually covered with a glossy transparent insert, on which fingerprints are visible.

The largest metal part is the back cover. It is narrow and made of aluminum alloy. Let us remind you that the Nokia E51 used stainless steel, and the new model uses the lightest material. The cover, like all phones in the Nokia series, has a pronounced texture and is rough to the touch. In our case, these are thin stripes, faintly visible at the top of the lid and almost merging at the bottom. The lid feels very contrasting with the rest of the body. We dare to imagine that the texture of raw aluminum would be more suitable here. Such details are also found in Nokia, these are some of the keys on the navigation part of the keyboard, and more about them below. Thanks to the raised lines, the back cover shimmers in the light and has a dull shine. But this shine is not supported by other parts of the case, for example, the plastic on the back panel above and below the lid. Again there appears a certain imbalance, a discrepancy between the various parts. In general, all this is visible only in this case, if you look at the mobile phone from behind. The front panel is free of these shortcomings. The shape of the case ensures that the device fits comfortably in the hand. The mobile phone is not long, at the bottom the corners are beveled in the shape of a palm, the body rests against it naturally. If you look at the device from the side, the indirect stripes between the back cover and the side become visible. Visually, this thins out the already slender mobile phone and gives it an interesting subtlety.

The dimensions of the case, specifically the height and width, are average, and the thickness is very small: 116x49.9x9.9 millimeters. For comparison, Nokia E51 had dimensions of 114x46x12 millimeters, in other words, it was a little smaller, but thicker. In general, the difference does not exceed 3 mm in any of the measurements. But psychologically, a thickness of 9.9 mm is perceived as an indicator of a narrow mobile phone. Well, it feels like every mm of thickness is visible. This does not cause any inconvenience due to the fact that the other dimensions have increased. The weight of the device can be considered the same as that of the E51: 98 and 100 g, respectively.

The build quality of the case is quite good. There is no creaking when squeezing the mobile phone in your hands, and this is not acceptable for such a product. The frame around the front panel is attached to the body with latches; they are quite reliable and tightly press the elements together. There is no need to disassemble the case, which means these latches will not wear out over time. The plastic used in this model is abrasion-resistant, but you still don’t need to carry a mobile phone in the same pocket with your keys. By the way, in a jeans pocket, due to its small thickness, it is practically invisible and does not cause inconvenience when walking.

Keyboard

The numeric keypad in this model is very comfortable, generally due to the increased width of the case. The keys are not poorly spaced, so there are no incorrect presses. The area of the bottom row of keys has been slightly reduced due to their proximity to the edge of the case, but they are usually used less frequently, so the ease of input is not reduced. The plastic surface of the number keys is comfortable to the touch, and the travel is small and precise. All this also leads to the convenience of typing messages and other texts, even with large volumes.

The navigation module consists of a huge number of keys arranged in three rows. The top row of this block contains soft buttons, which are made in the form of a single iron plate with receive and hang up keys placed in the bottom row. The surface texture of these keys is aluminum. Between the designated keys there is a middle row, numbering as many as 4 buttons: “home” (opening the main menu and returning to standby mode), start the calendar (long press - record a new meeting), open a favorite Email mailbox (hold - create a new letter) , Backspace (erasing the last character, deleting files). They are located on two plastic rockers, slightly protruding above the other keys. This tightness has a bad effect on ergonomics, but once you get used to it, you can press the necessary keys without difficulty, even without looking at them. The navigation key is represented by a classic frame with an inscribed confirmation button. This central key also has a raw duralumin surface, while the sides of the frame are notched. It looks fashionable, although they are of little use - it is impossible to say that thanks to them the finger does not slip off the key. The meaning of the Calendar and Email launch keys can be redefined by assigning the launch of favorite applications to them. Also in the settings of the Nokia E 52 there is a choice of functions for soft buttons, and when the active desktop is turned off, also for all navigation deviations, including the central press. Locking and unlocking the keyboard uses a new combination: sequential pressing of the left and right soft buttons.

The keyboard backlight is automatically adjusted in accordance with external light conditions. The sensor is responsible for this: it reduces the backlight of the keyboard and screen in the light, and adds it in the dark. In addition to this, the backlight of the module pulsates. The Nokia E52 also uses LEDs located between the raised plastic rocker buttons and metal keys. This ripple does not provide any informational value.

The side keys are located on the right side of the body; usually for the E-series they contain 2 volume keys, a voice dial activation key and a camera key (in this model, due to the lack of autofocus, it is simple, single-position). At the end there is a power button. When you press it briefly, a menu appears through which you can block the keyboard, change the signal profile, or turn off your mobile phone.

Battery

The Nokia BP-4L battery has a capacity of 1500 mAh, which is almost twice as much as the one found in the E51. This led to a twofold difference in performance in different modes. The greatest increase in operating time was achieved when continuously listening to melodies: the E52 allows you to enjoy your favorite songs for up to 40 hours. This effect can be explained not only by the increased battery capacity, but also by optimizations in the field of energy saving. The stated standby time exceeds 20 days, which is unattainable in real conditions. And with simple use, a mobile phone lasts three to four days, and you can discharge it in a day only by continuously watching movies or constantly using the Internet via Wi-Fi.

Other characteristics look like this:

Talk time (maximum):

— GSM up to 7 hours

— WCDMA up to 5 hours

Standby time (maximum):

— GSM up to 22 days (542 hours)

— WCDMA up to 28 days (676 hours)

The battery can be charged either from the AC adapter or via USB. In the first case, it will take about 2.5 hours to fully charge, and in the 2nd case it will take 3.5 hours.

One of the shortcomings of the Nokia E51 is its small physical screen. In Nokia E52, the diagonal size is increased to 2.4 inches with the same resolution - 240x320 pixels. Therefore, using the main functions of a mobile phone has become a little more comfortable. But the screen is still too small for watching video; in general, there are special multimedia models for this task. In terms of such features as clarity, saturation or color rendition, the display is at its best. The viewing angle is close to the maximum, and in the sun all information is perfectly readable, although the colors fade somewhat. The display backlight is automatically adjusted thanks to a light sensor, and in the settings you can set the desired level - lighter, darker. The next sensor is responsible for automatically changing the display orientation; it can be enabled through the settings. It also allows you to turn off the sound of a call or alarm clock - to do this, you need to turn the mobile phone over with the display down.

Despite the fact that the camera for the E-series is not the main function, its characteristics are also improving. The Nokia E52 uses a 3.2 megapixel unit with a fixed focus. This camera can take landscape photos in good weather, but portraits are a little worse. On the phone display, the pictures look decent, but when viewed on a computer, their low quality becomes noticeable. There is an LED flash to illuminate objects in the dark.

The camera controls are similar to other models. The composition of the toolbar, which is displayed on the right, can be changed - items can be deleted and moved. By default, additional settings are turned off - white balance, photosensitivity, contrast and others. You can enable them, but in general, automatic selection of the values of these characteristics is sufficient. Also added is the function of recording GPS coordinates in information about images, so-called geotagging - it allows you to show on the map the place where the photo was taken.

A new camera feature is panoramic shooting. Now it is enough to take the first frame, and the next ones will be taken automatically if you slowly move the mobile phone to the right or to the left. After pressing the Stop key, the panorama is automatically stitched together. We must remember that the vertical resolution of the final panorama will be lower than that of single photos.

Video shooting is carried out with a resolution of 640x480, at a frequency of 30 frames per second, format – MP4. Among the settings, we note software image stabilization.

Phone hardware

The Nokia E52 mobile phone is built on the latest hardware platform. The ARM12 microprocessor has a frequency of 600 MHz, while previously used microprocessors had a frequency of 368 MHz. Exactly the same platform is used in the remaining new E-series models: E72, E55. Externally, the difference is manifested in the instant opening of the menu and the rapid launch of programs. The RAM size is 256 MB, which is enough to run several applications simultaneously. User data storage - 60 MB of internal memory available. The set also includes a 1 GB micro SD memory card. If desired, you can change it to a more capacious card. The connector is located on the right side of the phone, but to access it you need to remove the back cover. Micro-SD memory cards up to 16 GB are supported.

Software part of Nokia e52

Despite the fact that in the review we often use the word “phone,” Nokia E52 is a full-fledged smartphone that runs on the Symbian OS operating system – v9.3, user controls – S60 3rd Edition, Feature Pack 2.

It must be said that, like other E-series phones, the E52 model supports 2 desktops, personal and work. Each of them will be able to have its own shortcuts for quickly launching applications and lines for quick access to various functions. Switching between desktops is done by pressing one key - the last right one in the quick launch line.

Smartphone communications

Supports both Bluetooth and Wi-Fi. There are no difficulties with the implementation of these types of connections. For Bluetooth, all the necessary profiles are available, including A2DP, the version of the protocol itself is 2.0 + EDR.

To communicate with the computer, a Micro-USB socket is used, which is still constantly used in the latest Nokia models. It makes sense that the phone can also be charged from a computer.

To connect the headset, a regular 3.5 mm jack is used, to which you can connect not only a stereo headset, but also any headphones. The nest is located at the top end.

Despite the business focus of the mobile phone, the developer decided to give the opportunity for recreation. Therefore, in the menu you can find toys, and specifically a collection of 15 Solitaires and Tetris games - Block Cascade Fusion.

Comparison with rivals

The previous model loses news in all respects. This applies to the physical size of the display (2.0 inches versus 2.4), and the camera resolution (2.0 megapixels versus 3.2), and, more importantly, the microprocessor frequency (369 MHz versus 600), battery capacity (1000 mA versus 1500 mA) and, as a consequence, , the moment of work. At the same time, the new product is a little thinner and more compact. Taking into account that 18 months have passed between the release of models, replacements are natural. For Nokia E51 owners, it makes sense to purchase the E52 as a replacement.

The Nokia E52 mobile phone is an evolutionary development of previous models - E51 and E50. The main advantages present in those models have carried over to the new product. Ease of use and elegant appearance are combined with functionality. A weak camera and the absence of a capacious memory card in the package tell us that this is not a multimedia device. At the same time, the E52 allows you to watch videos and listen to music through headphones. Compared to its predecessors, the operating time without recharging has increased, despite the fact that the mobile phone has become narrower.

Advantages:

Long operating time without recharging

Comfortable keyboard

Small and elegant body

Frisky microprocessor

Camera without autofocus

Small size of the included memory card.

A stylish, practical Chinese phone with a candy bar for 2 SIM cards is a profitable purchase for a business person. An unusual design, stylized as leather with metal elements, attracts attention with its originality. A case is included with the phone. It’s very convenient to have a spare battery built into the case, it’s beautiful and practical. The phone has a large touch display - 2.4 inches, camera - 2 Mpix. In addition to standard applications ( calculator Possibility to use a mobile phone as a calculator. Having a calculator at your fingertips can often come in handy in many situations, and this feature can be useful to a wide range of users., converter, alarm clock, calendar) supports video calling function. Has a special application for downloading and reading e-books. The Nokia E89 phone has built-in: radio, MP-3 and MP-4 player, Dictaphone Typically, a voice recorder is used as an audio notebook - to quickly remember a phone number or a dictated address. Sound recording can be done both from a microphone and during a telephone conversation. We recommend choosing a phone with a voice recorder function for those who are often on the move and do not always have a pencil and paper at hand.. Available data transfer using MMS MMS (Multimedia Messaging Service) is a service for exchanging short multimedia messages, based, unlike SMS, on GPRS technology. The service allows you to receive/transmit full-color pictures, photographs, melodies and even videos. and SMS messages, Bluetooth Bluetooth technology, based on short-range radio communications (about 10 m), allows you to establish a high-speed wireless connection between your mobile phone and desktop PCs, laptops and pocket computers, as well as with other devices that support the Bluetooth standard. Using a wireless connection with your computer, you can download new logos and ringtones to your phone, receive and send emails, and synchronize data between your phone and computer (for example, exchange address book entries).. There is access to the Internet - customizable WAP, GPRS GPRS (General Packed Radio Services) is a packet data transmission service over a radio channel. The estimated speed is 64 kbit/s, most often practically achievable 48 kbit/s, theoretically achievable 115 kbit/s. Depends on the load on the base stations and the level of reception. The essence of the GPRS service is to organize a permanent connection via a GPRS telephone to the Internet, and the subscriber can make and receive calls without interrupting the Internet connection (depending on the GPRS class).. Accessible and simple Russian-language menu. High-quality sound, supports many audio formats. The phone's built-in memory is not very voluminous, only 231 KB, the phone book contains approximately 250 contacts. Supports additional memory cards with a maximum capacity of up to 4Gb. The phone is equipped with a USB port, standard headset and charger connectors, and a microSD card slot. It can be used with or without a stylish, practical case; a metal panel is provided for this purpose. The phone comes with 2 batteries, a USB cable, headphones, a charger, and a case.

In this series, Nokia produced smartphones for business people. The distinguishing characteristics of these models were the features that were required by businesses and corporate workers. For example, access to MS Word, Excel documents and presentations. In addition, the data on the phone is encrypted so that if the phone is lost it cannot be used.

The E series even produced phones without a built-in camera, because... Some corporations did not allow visitors to certain buildings or premises with devices that could take photos and videos. In general, there was such an era. Now everything is completely different.

Some information about Nokia E series

Nokia phone catalog includes a category of business phones called Nokia E series. The first models from this line of phones began to be sold back in 2005.

In the fall of 2005, Nokia announced the N series and E series on a grand scale. These two categories of phones have, in principle, common functional characteristics, but at the same time they have fundamental differences.

Nokia E series- These are smartphones for business, for active business people who, first of all, need a good mobile assistant-secretary.

E series smartphones solve all the most necessary issues of their owner: viewing and sending email, working with documents (Microsoft Office applications, pdf files, etc.), a wide selection of communication functions for data transfer.

In addition, E series smartphones also implement such necessary business functions: device blocking, remote blocking via SMS, data encryption, mobile VPN client, OMA DM client. Thus, Nokia solves the security issues of your business phone, protecting your data from theft or information leakage.

Nokia E series catalog

Let's take a closer look at Nokia business phones from the E series model range.

The first models were Nokia E60, Nokia E61 and Nokia E70. Some were still produced then Nokia E series phones without a camera, and this was argued by the fact that in some corporations, entry into buildings with recording devices is prohibited. But they soon abandoned this idea, so now everything Nokia smartphones E series have an integrated camera.

The Nokia E series lineup differs from other Nokia phones in that phones with a QWERTY keyboard, metal body, and large screen predominate here.

Nokia E series smartphones

In a word, Nokia E series business smartphones are an excellent solution for active business people who need a mobile assistant secretary.

Thank you for visiting the site directory site. We are always happy to help you in choosing and purchasing a Nokia phone.

Nokia E52 is a continuation of the line started by the E50/E51 devices, a line of thin and pleasant-looking 3G smartphones with long battery life, optimized primarily for working with basic “telephone” functions: voice communication and text messages. Unfortunately, with the E52, Nokia departed from some of the traditions of the E-series, resulting in a rather ambiguous device.

  4. Adapter from “old” Nokia chargers to micro-USB.
  5. Cable for connecting to a computer.
  6. Stereo headset.

Left behind the scenes is a 1 GB micro-SD memory card - it was originally installed in the phone.

Appearance, design features

The device looks very, very nice. In our market it is available in four color options (metallic silver, metallic gold, white and black), all four look great. The proportions are chosen in such a way that the Nokia E52 seems thinner than it actually is (although much thinner - the body thickness is exactly 1 cm). The phone fits well in your hand, but you don’t feel it in your pocket at all and does not cause any inconvenience at all.

As in other E-series devices, the back cover is made of metal with fine corrugation. The soft keys and navigation button are made of aluminum.

Despite this, the phone gives the impression of a flimsy thing, not least due to the disgusting build quality, which is generally uncharacteristic of the E-series. The back cover is poorly secured, the plastic edging around the keyboard and display moves and creaks. The feeling of sloppiness intensifies when the keyboard backlight comes on: the LEDs are located in such a way that they are clearly visible through the gaps between the keys. It should be noted that in our hands we did not have a test sample tortured in captivity, but a real retail one, in a beautiful box, with a UA UCRF sticker and the proud inscription Made in Finland. Again, I don't mean to say that All Nokia E52 has similar shortcomings, I’m just stating the fact that our copy was put together extremely poorly. In general, judging by the reviews on the forums, this is a fairly common problem.

I would also like to praise Nokia for the fact that the E52 finally uses exclusively standard connectors: micro-USB for connecting to a computer and charging (hallelujah!) and a regular 3.5 mm headphone jack. Just for fun, I tried connecting a headset from Samsung Jet to the Nokia E52. To my surprise, absolutely everything (including the microphone and answer button) worked without any problems.

Pay attention to the size of the battery: it takes up most of the internal volume of the phone. This is definitely a good sign.

Display

Nokia E52 is equipped with the most ordinary screen with a resolution of 240x320 pixels. The phone is equipped with an orientation sensor, and screen rotation occurs almost instantly (those who used early N-series smartphones - for example, N80 - know how painful this simple procedure was in those distant times). Traditionally for Nokia, the screen is equipped with a mirror backing and remains absolutely readable even in the brightest sun.

Keyboard

The keys on the Nokia E52 are very large, with soft pressing. Overall, this is one of the best telephone keyboards on the market, but there is one big “BUT”: since the plastic edging in our screen was poorly secured, the keyboard dangled noticeably when pressing the keys on the bottom row, leaving an extremely unpleasant feeling. When purchasing, we recommend paying close attention to this.

Menu, control

Before us is the standard S60 platform of the third edition with the second update package. Since the S60 has probably been seen by everyone who is at least a little interested in mobile phones, I will not write about standard things (call logs, working with messages, phone book) and will only focus on the implementation of specific applications and functions.

The player is the most primitive, but with a media library, it allows you to sort music by artists/albums/genres. The biggest drawback is the lack of a Now Playing item, which allows you to quickly jump to the current playlist. In addition, Nokia E52 does not allow you to adjust the volume when listening to music without unlocking the keyboard. Overall, this is one of the most inconvenient implementations of a player in mobile phones that I have ever seen. Only Fly is worse.

The radio, on the contrary, pleased with its human approach: Nokia has an online catalog of radio stations; to load stations into the device’s memory, you just need to specify the country, region and city. True, the reception quality is very mediocre: where the Sony Ericsson Yari received the radio clearly and without interference, the Nokia E52 did not perform at its best.

The phone supports Home Media (the proprietary name for UPnP and DLNA), not only as a client, but also as a server. It’s a nice addition, but it’s not clear why it’s needed for a phone that’s primarily aimed at business.

Built-in browser for speed and quality of web page rendering significantly inferior to browsers in phones (not smartphones!) such as LG Arena and Samsung Jet.

But the most unpleasant feature of the Nokia E52 is that with the current firmware the device does not allow you to quickly switch the language while typing (for example, when writing a message). The only way to do this is to press the asterisk key, select “Input languages” in the menu that appears and swap the first and second languages. To be honest, when I first encountered this, I simply did not believe that Nokia could make such a mistake. However, an Internet search showed that the problem does exist. Let me remind you that previously, almost all smartphones on the S60 had a button with a pencil that allowed you to quickly switch languages; for some reason, modern devices do not have it, which led to a significant deterioration in ergonomics. To be fair, I should note that when T9 is turned on, the phone will try to guess what language you want to type the word in. But this is not a solution, since when trying to enter a more or less complex word, the smart system constantly makes mistakes and offers options in the wrong language. Moreover, if you use three languages (for example, Russian/English/Ukrainian), then this feature will not help you at all. I really hope that Nokia will fix this flaw in future firmware. In the meantime, as a temporary “crutch” you can use the free program EQ FastLang, which implements quick switching between Russian and English. Other languages, unfortunately, are not supported.

GPS

The phone is equipped with a GPS module and, accordingly, the Ovi Maps program. Currently, a map of Ukraine has appeared in Ovi Maps, although it is of rather low quality. I don’t want to dwell on this in detail here; we promise to make a separate material dedicated to Nokia cards in the near future.

Synchronization with PC

To synchronize the Nokia E52 with a computer running Windows, the standard Ovi Suite is used - a program of rare monstrosity. Fortunately, in Mac OS X you just need to install the iSync plugin to be able to synchronize your calendar and address book with iCal and Address Book.

Battery and operating time

The device is equipped with a huge lithium-polymer battery with a capacity of 1500 mAh. In the conditions of the Kyiv MTS network, Nokia E52 worked on one battery charge for a week, and the charge indicator still showed 2 bars. During this time there were about 40 minutes of conversations, more than 3 hours of using Wi-Fi (Skype via fring, watching videos on YouTube), more than 10 hours of using a music player and radio. So the Nokia E52 deserves only praise for its battery life.

Subjective impressions

First of all, I would like to note the good sounding of the call melodies. There are many complaints on the forums about the sound quality in the conversational dynamics, but there were no complaints about my copy in this regard. The speed of the phone is quite good in most cases due to the fast processor. Unfortunately, with the current firmware the E52 is unstable. While working on the review, the phone froze several times for no apparent reason (this happened especially often in the browser). After a long period of inactivity, the device often “thinks” for several minutes (!) when trying to unlock the keyboard, and the following is displayed on the screen:

Bottom line

Initially, I really liked the Nokia E52, I was even determined to buy it for personal use. On paper, the device’s parameters fully correspond to the ideal “dialer”. In particular, the S60 platform allows you to install fring and use Skype for free conversations where there is Wi-Fi. This is especially important for me, since all my relatives and most of my friends live in Russia. At the same time, a capacious battery allows you not to worry about the phone running out at the wrong time. Pleasant appearance and a comfortable keyboard are also important advantages.
