Primorsky Safari Park published a video of a new couple - an Ussuri tigress and a tur goat. Cupid and Ussuri staged mating games in the seaside safari park Pregnant Ussuri tigress

Now many people are striving to preserve marvelous corners of nature and wildlife for future generations, because this is precisely our most valuable wealth. One of the founders of this work was the Primorsky Safari Park. On a local scale, it was a wonderful place where residents of Nakhodka, Ussuriysk, and Vladivostok went to get a lot of positive emotions from communicating with the animal “folk.” But something happened that no one expected - a ferocious predator and his prey, the tiger Amur and the poor goat Baron, who later became Timur, became friends in the park. Since then, Primorsky Safari Park has become famous all over the world. Now the tiger and the goat are no longer friends as before, but the popularity of the park does not decrease, since interesting events take place there almost every day.

Location, how to get there

The village of Shkotovo is located on the coast of the Ussuri Bay. From Vladivostok in a straight line it is 44 km, and from Nakhodka - 70 km. Along the highway, the distance from Vladivostok increases to 71 km (or more than an hour's journey), and from Nakhodka - to 108 km (or about 2 hours). About 2 km from Shkotovo towards Smolyaninovo, right in the forest, the Primorsky Safari Park is located.

There are several ways to get there. For those who have the opportunity, it is more convenient to get to the park by car. As for public transport, the best travel option from Vladivostok is a taxi. In addition, you can take the train that runs from Vladivostok to Shkotovo, and from there take a taxi or walk for half an hour. There are also several convenient bus routes from Nakhodka and Vladivostok, passing through the village of Shkotovo. The main thing is to arrive on time so as not to miss feeding the animals.

Infrastructure

The seaside safari park is located on a forest area of 16 hectares. The opening took place in 2007, so it will soon have a small, but still 10-year anniversary. During this time, the area was landscaped and developed, a parking lot, a souvenir shop, an unusually decorated cafe, and even several houses for overnight stays were built. In front of the entrance to the territory there are tables and benches where visitors can have a snack taken from home. Bringing food into the park is strictly prohibited. Here, at the entrance, the ticket offices are located, and the toilets are built in convenient places on the territory itself. Visitors can take excursions (necessarily with a guide) to the area of tigers, ungulates, bears, predatory animals and birds. The park is open year-round and daily from 9 am to 6 pm (visiting times may vary in winter).

Tiger Park

Everyone knows that the tiger Amur made the Primorsky Safari Park famous. Now he is kept in a huge enclosure, which is a piece of forest slightly larger than a classic football field. In addition to the striped celebrity, his sister Taiga and wife Ussuri live in the park. In this enclosure, so to speak, the animals are at ease, as if in the wild. Perhaps that is why they are so well-fed and their coat is so shiny. Visitors can admire the kings of the taiga from special bridges. If you give it some time, and if you have strong nerves, you can watch the process of tigers hunting, as they are allowed live goats into the territory to feed.

The story of friends Amur and Timur

The star tiger and his sister arrived at the Primorsky Safari Park from the Khabarovsk Zoo in the fall of 1912. Their father is nine-year-old tiger Velkhat, a resident of the zoo center, and their mother is six-year-old tigress Rigma, who was picked up in the wild as a four-month-old baby. Cupid himself was born in 2012, on April 2. At first, the brother and sister were kept together, and as soon as they grew up and became sexually mature, they were separated.

The Safari Park welcomes many animals and birds. They, found in nature or with injuries, or simply left without parental care, are brought by kind people. So, in 2015, in November, the goat Baron was delivered there, although not for the purpose of nursing, but for the purpose of selling. It was for this reason that his owner E. Kovaleva brought him. The poor animal was acquired as another live food for predators, so no one called him by name. But one wonderful day everything magically changed.

Unique friendship

Nowadays there are few people who do not know about the safari park (Primorsky Territory). Timur and Amur - his two megastars - met at the tiger's enclosure, where the poor ungulate was pushed so that the striped predator could dine on it. But he didn’t even think about it. And the goat, in order to secure his safety, even threatened the wild cat with his horns. For his courage, the park workers named him Timur. Soon the bearded man completely relaxed and took over Amur’s sleeping mat, and the poor fellow had to move to sleep on the roof of his own house. Despite all the laws of nature, the strange couple became inseparable. Where there is a tiger, there is a goat, where there is Timur, there is Cupid.

The press started talking about them, they started making films about them, “goat and tiger” groups were formed on social networks, a money account was opened for them, and now Primorsky Safari Park, Amur, Timur were on everyone’s lips. Kozlik could not bear the burden of fame and became completely arrogant. The tiger was tired of his shamelessness. One day he grabbed him by the scruff of the neck with his teeth and threw him off the cliff. Since then, the couple has been seated. And let them write - for example, E. Panatovskaya, who worked in the safari park either as a press secretary (according to her), or as a veterinarian (according to director Dmitry Mezentsev) - that this friendship was based solely on overfeeding Amur meat, it doesn’t matter this case is unique. After all, no one forced Timur to stay next to the tiger all the time. He also played and slept next to his horned and bearded friend of his own free will.

Cupid's wedding, Sherkhan's birth

Even during the period of friendship between the tiger and the goat, they decided to “marry” the predator, since he was the most suitable age. Timur was put aside for a while so that he would not get in the way, and Amur was introduced to the beautiful Ussuri, specially brought for this purpose. The tigress flirted with the groom all day. He reciprocated her feelings, and soon Ussuri found herself in an interesting position. She was isolated again, since male tigers in the wild do not raise their children anyway. After 103 days, two heirs of Cupid were born. Ussuri licked one of them a little, but did not touch the second. Two lumps weighing about one and a half kg crawled and cried, and the mother did not pay attention to them. Park employees took the kids.

Unfortunately, one of them died, and the second had to be fed with a special formula for cats, put on IVs, and connected to an oxygen mask, he was so weak. But the baby still managed to get out. And they gave him the nickname Sherkhan. The Primorsky Safari Park can be proud that they were able to save a tiger cub here. Now he has grown up, goes for walks and enjoys great love from big and small visitors. After such extensive care from veterinarians, the tiger cub became completely tame. Like his father, Shere Khan has an unusual friend - a little ferret named Rocky. They lick each other together, play, and sometimes sleep side by side.

Timur's personal life

After falling from a cliff, the goat had a hard time, he even had surgery. He still walks with a slight limp, but his fame has not faded. The park administration began looking for brides for Timur. His former owner again decided to take part in the fate of the animal and brought him several goats. But for Timur, the Primorsky Safari Park in Vladivostok brought beauties from afar. Two record-breaking goats for milk yield became contenders for his heart. They are the Saanen breed, which was bred by Swiss cattle breeders. One bride's name is Ksyusha, the other Saira. They were taken to the groom in a specially insulated and decorated car. Ksyusha was wearing a wreath and a red necklace, Saira was wearing a wreath and an emerald necklace. So the show went according to all the rules. Timur lives with his harem and successfully produces offspring. The famous dad's goats go out into the world at auction.

Walk with ungulates

But the safari park is famous not only for Amur and Timur. Primorsky Krai is also rich in other animals. Thus, in the park there is a large segment given over to deer, roe deer, musk deer and other ungulates. They walk freely, there are no cages or pens there. Visitors can not only admire them, but also feed, pet them, and take pictures with them. It's a kind of petting zoo. The guides provide food free of charge; it is prohibited to treat animals with your own food.

There are several animals in the safari park that you can observe without even entering the territory. These are rabbits and wild boars. Children especially enjoy watching them frolic.

In the Primorsky Safari Park there are gray and red wolves, badgers, otters, ferrets, raccoons, wild cats and other interesting animals. You can also look at them up close, and not through the bars of the cages. Previously, there were two Himalayan bears in this sector: a male Chuk and a female Nastya. Some visitors were afraid to be so close to them, but the clubfooted people didn’t bother anyone. Now they have grown up, so they decided to build a separate park for them. Now you can also look at them from special bridges. Interestingly, the bears also make unusual friendships here. So, Chuk became friends with the badger.

In the teddy bear's enclosure there is a swimming pool, a slope, rocks, and many trees growing, so it is comfortable there for the clumsy ones. And next to them lives a leopard named Velikoross. The seaside safari park is already looking for a bride for him too. Another segment of the park is given over to birds. Here you can admire eagles, owls, owls, eagle owls, hawks, and falcons. Most birds end up here with various injuries. They are nursed in the park and released back into their natural home.

Prices

The cost of visiting the safari park is quite reasonable, and in addition, there is a system of discounts for large groups (from 20 people) and children from large families. Two excursions have been developed for all visitors, each of which is accompanied by experienced guides who know everything about the animals. On the first one you can visit tigers, ungulates, bears and a leopard. A ticket for adults costs 450 rubles, for children over 3 years old - 300 rubles.

On the second excursion, visitors are introduced to small predators and birds. A ticket for adults costs 300 rubles, for children over 3 years old - 200 rubles.

Primorsky Krai with its amazing natural landscape has long been loved by tourists. The harsh and majestic rushing mountain rivers, thundering waterfalls and clear lakes with blooming lotuses attract travelers with their beauty. The Shkotovsky district of the Primorsky Territory, famous for its waterfalls (Tiger, Dalniy and Unexpected), boasts another attraction - the animals here are kept without cages, and you can observe them in conditions close to natural.

Safari Park (Primorsky Krai)

The park opened in 2007, and initially its main inhabitants were deer, roe deer and musk deer rescued by people. The range of pets is constantly expanding and replenished with new species. Now about 5 hectares of forest are fenced off for comfortable living of animals. Five species of ungulates have at their disposal three parks, two summer and winter. The Seaside Safari Park also houses representatives of predatory animals; areas of the forest are fenced off for them, where they live and roam freely in natural conditions. The feathered kingdom is represented in the park by a variety of birds, including 15 species of raptors; they are kept in special enclosures.

Ungulates

Roe deer, wapiti, hybrid deer and wild boar move freely throughout the three parks. The animals are sociable, so you can feed them and photograph them while walking along the trails. Here you can also meet rabbits and squirrels who willingly accept treats from human hands. Primorsky Safari Park provides animal food to visitors free of charge. There are some restrictions in order not to disturb the ecosystem of the animals’ habitat; park guests are prohibited from deviating from the route and leaving the paths.

Predators

Foxes, Far Eastern forest cats, red and gray wolves, otters, raccoon dogs, badgers and raccoons are kept in areas reserved for predators. It is best to observe them in the morning, when the animals are walking and frolicking; after feeding, as befits predators, they go to bed, choosing a more secluded place for themselves. When planning to visit the Primorsky Safari Park, you should know that feeding predatory animals is prohibited. The exceptions, however, are the raccoon and the otter; they beg for food so skillfully that the park workers do not forbid feeding them.

Predator birds

The park contains 15 species of birds of prey: white-tailed eagle, goshawk, common, long-eared black kite, long-tailed owls, eagle owls, rough-legged buzzard and several species of the falcon family. A professional ornithologist who conducts a tour will help you get to know them better. Some birds are quite sociable; you can hold them in your hands by wearing a special mitten.

The Tiger Park is especially popular. This is a fenced area of forest, divided into two parts. Tigresses Taiga and Ussuri live in the same territory, generally there are no conflicts between them, but sometimes the young ladies can quarrel over a tastier piece of meat. Until recently, Tiger Amur lived in splendid isolation. Visitors can watch from platforms located at a safe height. Animals are most active in the morning, before eating. Park workers place pieces of meat in secluded corners of the tiger territory so that the animals can eat in peace. The meal does not look bloodthirsty, so it does not frighten visitors. From time to time, tigers get the opportunity to hunt live game; this process occurs in the evening, when there are no longer any guests in the park.

Cupid and Timur

Of course, one cannot fail to mention in the story about the heroes whose unusual friendship shook the world. Tiger and goat Primorsky Safari Park made famous far beyond Russia. Let us remind you that the goat was sent to the hunting territory of the Amur tiger as prey. When the first showed his instincts and attacked, the second did not lose his head and gave the predator a worthy rebuff. Probably, this behavior earned the respect of Cupid, the goat was no longer considered a victim and was relegated to the category of equal to a predator. The herbivore’s bravery delighted not only the tiger, but also the employees. In the Primorsky Safari Park, the goat was named Timur for his unbending character. Now these two live in the same territory. Despite his bravery, Timur respects Cupid's strength and accepts him as his leader. Park employees say that the goat has its own covered place to sleep, but often Timur does not want to leave his comrade. Therefore, next to Amur’s enclosure, they built a straw bedding for Timur.

New inhabitant

In January 2016, the Primorsky Safari Park received a new inhabitant; a young male leopard was brought from the Prague Zoo. In February, a territory was already allocated to the predator, and after a medical examination and quarantine, visitors were able to see the leopard. For now he lives alone, but the park management plans to buy him a girlfriend.

On-line translation

So that not only visitors to the park could observe the life of animals, it was decided to install cameras on its territory. On the Safari Park website you can find a video and online broadcast of the amazing friendship of Timur and Amur, watch how the leopard gets used to it and how other animals spend their days.

We were allowed to visit Amur's enclosure. The park staff took care of organizing the “romance”: they prepared a couple of rabbits for the predators. After such a hearty dinner, according to tiger tradition, there should be a rest on the grass. However, the striped Ussuri wanted to continue the evening. The other day, the tigress went into heat, and she began pestering Amur: she blocked the path, followed him with her tail, circled around the tiger, not allowing him to rest.

The striped predator was not at all against such a piquant development of events and received his bride friendly, without aggression. Not like when we first met. Then he was obliged to immediately let the stranger know who was boss in the house by waving Ussuri in the face two or three times. That time the big cat did not remain in debt, but this time at first it simply circled around Cupid, and then lay down on its back and raised its paws.

Cupid affectionately rubbed his head with Ussuri and copulated with the tigress with a roar. The tigress rolled with pleasure on the soft green carpet, basking in the sun. Predators copulated many times during the day.

- Amur and his beloved Ussuri recently had their first wedding day, didn’t they?

Yes, they are serious. Ussuri is his only bride.

- Why does Cupid need a bride at all? He was fine with the goat too...

We participate in the program of the Euro-Asian Association of Zoos for the conservation and reproduction of the Amur tiger. Then Cupid and Ussuri must reproduce. We didn't think that their first time would happen so early. On June 3, Ussuri will turn only two years old. In the wild, tigers mature later. The program coordinator, not the safari park director, will decide when they should breed next. For now, this is how it turned out.

How long will the pregnancy last and how many babies can be born? « are being amused » ?

Pregnancy lasts on average 105 days. Sometimes a little more, sometimes a little less. Ussuri is very young, giving birth for the first time, no one knows what else will happen. This is all very unexpected for me. I thought that they still had a long time before this period (mating - Ed.).

- What will happen to the cubs then?

They are distributed by program coordinators. We were promised that at first the cubs would live with us. Such prospects make us very happy.

Wedding of Amur and Ussuri. The tigers of the Primorsky Safari Park Amur and Ussuri participate in the program of the Euro-Asian Association of Zoos for the breeding and conservation of the Amur tiger in captivity. On May 26, 2016, the tigress Ussuri was released to visit Amur. Cupid greeted Ussuri quite friendly, without aggression. But at the first meeting he showed her who was boss - he waved at Ussuri’s face two or three times with a threatening roar. The tigress lay on her back, raising her paws, thereby showing submission and accepting the conditions of the owner of the territory. A few days later, Ussuri went into heat and began pestering Amur. She blocked Cupid’s path and followed him with her tail. The tigress circled around Cupid all day, not allowing him to rest on the grass. Cupid accepted Ussuri's invitations. He affectionately rubbed his head with Ussuri and copulated with the tigress with a roar. Ussuri rolled with pleasure on the soft green carpet, basking in the sun. Tigers mated many times during the day. On May 31, Amur had no time to sleep. He walked around the Park, sniffed the grass, and often had a characteristic grimace on his face - the reaction of the flehmen. The tiger senses from the smell of the female's urine marks that she is in a reproductive state, and this is expressed in his grimace. Pregnancy in tigress lasts on average 103 days. Tiger cubs are born blind, helpless, weighing 1.5 kg, but after about a week they begin to see. Usually 2-4 tiger cubs are born, rarely just one. At the age of 8 weeks, tiger cubs become able to follow their mother everywhere. In tigers, the male does not take part in raising the offspring. Let us remind you that a young tigress, born on June 3, 2014 in the nursery of the Moscow Zoo, was brought to the Primorsky Safari Park on October 17, 2015 as a bride for the tiger Amur. A competition was announced for the best name for the tigress. Based on the results of a competition for the best name for the tigress, she was named Ussuri. A new pair of animals has followed in the footsteps of the goat Timur and the tiger Amur, who made Primorsky Safari Park famous throughout the world, PrimaMedia reports. On Friday, July 14, a video “Ussuri Tigress and Tur Goat Together in One Park” appeared on the institution’s website.

In the video, the goat Tur and the tigress Ussuri “sniff” each other, at some point the predator even decides to chase the prey, but gets scared and watches it from afar.

The park management is in no hurry to tell what happened and how this meeting actually ended. As director Dmitry Mezentsev explained to PrimaMedia news agency, all employees of the safari park were instructed to maintain intrigue.

We want people to watch this video and start guessing for themselves. Where is it, how did it happen, and so on. And after a while we will release a video with explanations and see who was closest. For now, all information is confidential,” Mezentsev said.

According to him, all park employees were instructed not to answer any questions from outsiders regarding the Tour and Ussuri, even to the point of threatening them with dismissal.

Dmitry Mezentsev found it difficult to say when the video with explanations would be released, explaining that it all depends on how people react to today’s video.

Let us remind you that the story of the world-famous friendship between a predator and a herbivore began in the Primorsky Safari Park in the fall of 2015. On November 22, an ordinary domestic goat, which at that time did not even have a name, was brought into the enclosure of the Amur tiger Amur. Who would have imagined then that this would turn out to be the most amazing and unusual story that would be discussed all over the world. The predator had previously been allowed animals into the enclosure so that he would not lose his hunting skills. But the goat, later named Timur, did not want to become a dish, but was able to turn from prey into a comrade.

Tourists from all over the world came to see the couple, and park director Dmitry Mezentsev was invited to appear on television. The friendship ended at the end of January 2016. The goat provoked the tiger Amur to attack, the predator patted the herbivorous “neighbor” in the enclosure and threw it, after which the safari park staff had to urgently lure Amur out of the enclosure, and then evacuate the goat for a medical examination. From that moment on, the hitherto inseparable friends began to live separately. The goat was treated for some time, since the tiger had inflicted quite serious wounds on it, and then they were settled next to Amur; they could still be seen in the safari park, but separately.

Already in the summer of 2016, Amur “married” a tigress specially brought to the park. She was the heroine of the new Ussuri video. Later, from the union of the famous Cupid with the tigress Ussuri, two little tiger cubs were born. For some reason, the young tigress refused to feed the cubs. Park employees had to take the kids away. So the tiger cubs were left orphans and did not receive the necessary colostrum, as a result of which one tiger cub died, and the second miraculously managed to emerge. They named him Sherkhan.
