Do you know that the Setun River Valley nature reserve is the largest in Moscow? It occupies 696 hectares and stretches (more precisely, meanders after the river) from the Third Ring Road to the Moscow Ring Road. We walked only a small part of it - along Mosfilmovskaya Street, where the area has been landscaped and an excellent walking trail has been created. I think we will find out in the near future how convenient it is to walk further.
At the same time, we visited the Setun camp, which turned out to be a very interesting place, and also finally learned the end of the story about.
Anyone interested - welcome!

So, the beginning of the route is Mosfilmovskaya Street, stop "Pudovkina Street" or "Academy" Foreign trade". Next you need to delve into the passages between the buildings of building 6 on Dovzhenko Street and look for the river, to which descents and ladders lead. The end is Minskaya Street, stop "Stone Dam". The length is about 4 km, the path winds one by one, then by on the other side, sometimes on both sides at once.
2.But before we walk along the river, we cross it on a bridge...

3. We leave the green zone for a short time, walk quite a bit and see...

Two armored personnel carriers mark the entrance to the stuntmen's fortress "Setunsky Stan", recently renamed the "Master Panin" Film Adventure Park. They started more than 20 years ago with a stunt school, where they took mostly difficult teenagers. Now this is a stunt school, large-scale shows, museums, and I don’t know what else. At the same time, the territory makes a very strange impression - it is dusty, unkempt, full of garbage and rusting equipment and... attractive. I tried to film the more photogenic parts of it, a lot was left behind the scenes, and we probably didn’t see a lot.
3a. Boys - they are always boys at any age...

4. In front of the “castle” there is a pickup truck on “foreign” wheels from a rocket carrier

7.There are vintage cars in the backyard behind the stage.

8. A lot of military equipment is scattered in the bushes

9. And the “under-tribune space” is decorated with original posters

The place intrigued me, and I found myself here again very soon. But about this another time...

13.And we continue our walk

16. We are approaching “from the rear” to Dovzhenko Street, where in March there was a fight against the closure of the only chain store “Pyaterochka” in the entire district. I tried for a long time to find on the Internet how that story ended, but to no avail. On the ground, everything immediately became clear.
June. Alas, the miracle did not happen :(

The origin of the name "Setun" is not clear. In legends it is associated with the word “to lament”: there were supposedly burial places near the mouth of the river, and relatives of the dead came here to lament. This version cannot be taken seriously. Most often, the hydronym is considered as Baltic, derived from the geographical term “sietuva” - “deep or wide place of the river; middle of the river.” But Setun is not one of the largest rivers near Moscow, for which the Baltic etymology has been proven. In addition, the connection between the mentioned term and natural features rivers. With some stretch, we can assume that what is meant is not the river itself, but its place on the Teplostan Upland, i.e. "sietuva" is the deepest and widest river valley cutting through the hills ("middle river"). Or maybe it means the middle of some navigable section of the Moscow River, half of the waterway, marked on the ground by the mouth of Setun. One way or another, one must also take into account the Slavic hypothesis, in which the hydronym “Setun” is associated with the northern geographical term “sedun” "."Sedun" is a "quagmire, swampy place." In this case, “sedun” means a river valley - a low (“sagging”) place separating the Tatarovskaya Upland from the rest of the Teplostan Upland.
