Recapitulation technique description. Recapitulation technique: a description of the practice. Features of the execution of the technique of recapitulation

The technique is compiled by me based on the books of Carlos Castaneda.
Recapitulation- the most detailed recollection and re-living of one's entire life, the release of energy, analysis and restructuring of goals and intentions.

Termination Criteria
Recapitulation of all life events must be done until all emotions associated with any events disappear. The recapitulation of our lives must never end, no matter how well done once.

Motivation

1. Freedom.
It is a technique for destroying the concept of self that exists in the form of memories and connections with people we have met throughout our lives. For liberation from the limitations of one's own personality, from lack of freedom in actions related to self-identification of oneself as a certain individuality. Becomes available to all the fullness of styles of behavior, from long forgotten to completely new.
2. Lucid dreams.
In the course of recapitulation, there is getting rid of the overflowing of dreams with very intense emotions, such as memories, hopes, fears, and so on and so forth, and releasing energy for dreaming. It becomes possible to realize oneself in a dream and control one's will in dreams.
3. Movement of the assemblage point.
There is a call for a slight, but for that permanent shift of the assemblage point. The assemblage point moves back and forth between its present position and the position it held when the integrating experience took place.
4. Vision of energy.
The weakening of the fixation of the assemblage point in its everyday - standard position brings it closer to the vision of energy fields.
5. Getting rid of the human form.
The force that governs the fate of all living beings is called the Eagle. The eagle endows sentient beings with awareness at birth, and devours their awareness at death. When recaptured, an exact copy of awareness is formed that can be absorbed by the Eagle instead of the true awareness of a person. Eagle's gift to man includes his agreement to accept a surrogate instead of real consciousness, if this surrogate is a perfect copy.
6. Pass to re-experience.
Magicians say that the road is free only after a colossal shock, i.e. the emergence of a memory of an event that shakes our foundations with terrifying clarity of detail. This event truly pulls us back to the very moment we experienced it. This event is called a skip, because after it, every event that we touch is re-experienced, and not just remembered. There is no way to find a pass, but one way or another, everyone who will do a recapitulation will inevitably, sooner or later, stumble upon it.

Training

1. Making a list.
Very painstakingly and carefully make a list of all the people with whom you have interacted. From now to the past. First on the list should be sexual partners, since we spend a lot of energy on sexual experiences that need to be returned and redistributed through recapitulation in the first place. The list will end with your father and mother. How to do it: From the beginning, refresh your memory by remembering and writing down the most vivid memories of your life. Events that taught you something important, events that left a deep mark, events that led to total changes for you. Next, starting from the restored events, move on to people, to compiling a list of all people. It is better to review from the present to the past, because the memories of the present are fresh, and thus the ability to remember is sharpened.
2. Preparing the environment.
Pre-reviews are usually performed while sitting in a cardboard or wooden box in a position with raised knees pressed to the chest. The box must have a top with ventilation - holes are cut in the top cover. Even better - generally make the top of thin wooden planks in the form of a lattice. Here is what Castaneda writes: "...that stalkers use boxes or earthen coffins to close themselves in them while they relive, and not just revise, every moment of their lives."
If at the moment there is no box, then recapitulate in a closed space, in the dark. For example: closing in the closet, or laying the bath with soft towels, or something else, turn off the light in the bathroom, make yourself comfortable .... and go ahead.

Technique

1. The level of recapitulation.
Choose a recap level:
Recapitulation of the first level: use a list. Go from the first person on the rewatch list to the last without missing anyone. Relive every time you meet him. Recapitulation of the second level: use the mobility of attention. Let certain events pop up by themselves.
2. Furnishings.
Get into a comfortable sitting position in the recapitulation box. Create a calm environment, silence, complete loneliness during the recapitulation time.
3. Reexperience.
Recall events, combining this with rhythmic breathing "fanning the event":
a) inhale. Take a deep breath in time with a slow, gentle head movement from right to left. By inhaling, you return the energy left in the event from the past.
b) Exhalation. Exhale deeply while moving your head in the opposite direction - from left to right. By exhaling, you transfer the returned energy into the future.
It is important not to breathe too fast to avoid exhausting breathing: breathing after which you need to breathe normally to calm the muscles.
When you are sure that the event has ceased to cause emotions, move on to the next event. With practice, the past ceases to define you.

Recapitulation, recapitulation technique, recollection of a lived life

Remembrance of a life

"... This is a very ancient technique (says Taisha Abelar), which don Juan's line of sorcerers inherited from the sorcerers of antiquity. But it was almost forgotten by the ancient sorcerers, because they were more interested in strength, power over other people and the like. They and the idea of losing self-importance never crossed my mind. But this technique remained, and the new sorcerers revived it, and it was inherited by the Nagual Carlos and us.Now we consider it to be the fundamental technique of magic, among all the techniques that we only we know, and which can shift the assemblage point.Recapitulation is the best technique for modern man, anyone can do it, which is why we distinguish it from others, don Juan also singled out this particular technique.

You don't have to be a "sorcerer's apprentice" or anything like that. It can be performed by any person who shows little interest, he may not even be completely involved in it, but only show some curiosity. Can start to perform recapitulation. It is a technique for destroying the self-image, the self-image that exists in the form of memories and connections with people we have met throughout our lives.

And this is not just an idea - it is an energy idea, because when we interact with people, there is an exchange of energy. A large amount of it remains or is lost in a variety of things. In those cases when we experience deep feelings, our energy remains in the world and in people. The sorcerer's strategy is to get that energy back, to get it back so that you can have it now. Why leave it somewhere in the past, because that is what keeps you in your current state?..."

For recapitulation, you need to choose a quiet secluded place where you can sit, preferably a closet or a large box, or even a shower, because you need to be in an enclosed space - magicians use special recapitulation boxes in which they are buried, or they use caves. I started doing my recapitulation in a small cave. An energy body must be in a closed space so that some pressure acts on its luminosity.

Before you sit in the box, you must make your list. You make a list of all the people you have met in your life, who you have ever encountered or have ever interacted with in any way. This will already make you do some work and make you remember a lot. These memories in and of themselves loosen the assemblage point. This is already something like a preliminary exercise. You remember everyone you knew from now until your childhood, and you list everyone you worked with, your family, your relatives, everyone you ever dealt with. It's best to make two lists.

The first should be people with whom you had a sexual relationship. Magicians say you should start with this list, because it was sexual relationships that took most of your energy, and if you replenish it, it will give you the opportunity to make a more effective recapitulation of other people.

So, if you have two lists ready, you sit in your recapitulation box, closet, or cave and start breathing. Breathing is the third most important element of recapitulation, after the box and the list. Breathing is very important because it is what unwinds energy from the past. And this is already determined by the Intention. Our interactions with other people took place at the level of our energy body, and breathing sets the luminous fibers in motion.

You start from your right shoulder, I described this procedure in some detail in my book, first you need to recreate in your imagination the scene and place that you want to remember, and when you have imagined and visualized everything in detail, then you put your chin on your right shoulder and inhale, turning your head until it rests on your left shoulder, then you return your head back to your right shoulder, and then look straight ahead.

With your breath you sweep the scene away, you sweep the whole room, the person or whatever you imagined with your breath. Thus, you draw back what you left there and throw out of yourself the energy of the other person that remained in you. Thus, you become no longer associated with that particular incident. And you do it with everything that happened to you."

Recapitulation helps to achieve inner silence. Inner silence is a special state of expulsion of thoughts, in which a person can function at a different level of consciousness than usual. Inner silence comes with the cessation of the internal dialogue - the eternal companion of thoughts, and therefore is a state of deep silence. During the time of inner silence, another ability of a person comes into force, that ability that makes him a magical being, the ability that allows human consciousness to operate freely in the second attention.

Inner silence begins to work from the moment a person begins to develop it in himself - it can be accumulated and developed. Everyone has an individual threshold. The ultimate goal is to stop the world and see the energy of the universe, magicians call this - absolute freedom of perception.

Recapitulation technique

The recapitulation technique is simple - a person starts by making a list of all (or almost all) people with whom he communicated. And he begins to remember his communication with them, going from top to bottom down the list. Breathing has a key meaning when recapitulating - when inhaling, a person absorbs (takes) his life force, when exhaling, he pushes someone else out of his body. Inhalation and exhalation are done simultaneously with a smooth turn of the head from shoulder to shoulder - it does not matter in which direction the inhalation and exhalation are taken, the main thing is to alternate them - if exhalation is from right to left, then inhale from left to right (and vice versa).

Ideally, the recapitulation is done in a small box or cave to put pressure on the person's energy body and cause the person's perception to stir.

For the magician, recapitulation is a way to give back to this extraordinary power what it lent to us at the moment of our birth. It is quite unbelievable, don Juan said, that this force is content with the aforementioned re-experiencing. Since the only thing she wants from us is self-awareness, then if we give it to her in the form of a recapitulation, she does not take our life in the end, but allows us to go along with it to freedom.

"... Florinda explained that the key to revising was breathing. For her, breathing was magical because it was a life-giving function. She said it was easy to revisit if you could reduce the area of excitement around the body. That was the point of the box "Then the breath will carry deeper and deeper memories. Theoretically, stalkers have to remember every feeling they've had in their lives, and that process starts with their breath..."

From an interview with Taisha Abelar with Keith Nichols in 1993

"...K.N: What is a recapitulation?

Taisha Abelar: Recapitulation is a method to bring back all of our energy that is captured in our everyday world in order to use it for other purposes. Recapitulation allows a person to see that the reality in which we are born is not the only one, it is simply a fixation of energy. When a child is born, his Assemblage Point is very mobile, he cannot perceive the world as a human being. As he interacts with the adults around him, his energy body begins to copy their position of the Assemblage Point.

Energetically, he makes himself a copy of those around him. We all have our assemblage points in more or less the same position, which allows us to perceive the same reality. Recapitulation allows you to move this point through the mental process of using the breath to reclaim all the energy you have spent in your life. Each epoch is characterized by what don Juan called the "modality of time" - a particular set of ideas and prevailing characteristics of the culture.

The modality of our time is what is shown on our TV, what is written in our books and newspapers. We are constantly bombarded with the same themes and ideas that we need to stick to. Sorcerers call the prevailing cultural traits of our day the “me, poor baby” syndrome, because everyone is consumed by that very feeling.

This is not only the world of unfortunate children, it is a whole universe of unfortunate children, with black holes devouring constellations and planets. Magicians see that our energy is constantly being absorbed by various things. In order to get where we want to go, we need energy.

In our waking state, all of our energy goes into our worries, our work, our family, or whatever. In order to move away from this position, we must have an enormous amount of energy. Recapitulation is the main means of accumulating this energy.

KN: How to do a recapitulation?

Taisha Abelar: First you make a list of all the people you have known in your life, all the people you have interacted with. This in itself will require a lot of concentration from you. Simply writing a list simplifies things and allows your attention to be focused on something specific. Once you have made the list, find a place where pressure will be placed on your energy body. Sit back and start with the first person on your list.

Work through the list from the last person to the first, revisiting or visualizing the situations in which you interacted with these people, those relationships in which energy was exchanged. watch how you interacted and how you went through all types of energy maneuvers in order to keep the situation going. We are all energetically constructing our reality.

Even if we are just driving down the street in a car, we are designing. We take it for granted and say that the street is always there. But in fact, we are all magicians, we create the world around us and come to an agreement about its existence. Through recapitulation, you collect your energy from the past, which is lost in the course of your personal history and surrounds you like debris in the tail of a comet.

To untangle yourself from the memories of the past, place your chin on your right shoulder and inhale as you move your head from right to left. Then exhale as you bring your head back from left to right, bringing back everything you no longer want to be associated with. Then turn your head forward again. You do not feel any feelings towards these images, with your deep breathing you sweep everything away, with each exhalation sending energy threads outward.

After you have drawn all the energy back in, keep doing this until there is no energy left in this scene. This scene will become empty because it will no longer have energy components.

KN: What effect did the recapitulation have on your life?

Taisha Abelar: You find that your attachment to your family and friends will decrease. You can continue to interact with them, but you no longer feel attached to them, because you do not want to depend on them energetically..."

From Castaneda's interview to the magazine "MAS ALLA DE LA CIENCIA" in 1997

Question - You have repeatedly emphasized the importance of re-experiencing (Spanish recapitulacion - in the Russian translation of K. Castaneda's book - "recapitulation") and many people, inspired by what you said, tried to practice it. Could you tell us about the methodology and specific results of this exercise?

Answer - Re-experiencing was an indispensable way for don Juan to begin the path to freedom. This is not a technique for restoring energy, but a maneuver according to the vision of sorcerers. They believe that the possession of awareness of being is a state inherent in all living things.

Some extraordinary power gives self-awareness to those who have just been born - be it a virus, an amoeba or a human being. At the end of life, the same force will take away from each of these beings the self-awareness lent to them, expanded by individual life experience.

For the magician, re-experiencing is a way to give back to this extraordinary power what it lent to us at the moment of our birth. It is quite unbelievable, don Juan said, that this force is content with the aforementioned re-experiencing.

Since the only thing she wants from us is self-consciousness, then if we give it to her in the form of a new experience, she does not take our life away from us in the end, but allows us to go along with it to freedom. This is how sorcerers theoretically explain the experience anew.

Its methodology is very simple. First, a list is made of all the people with whom relations have been maintained, from the present time to possibly the moment of birth. The point is to relive the experience of communicating with everyone who is on the list - not just remembering them, but reliving them again.

To this is added a very slow rhythmic breathing - from right to left with an exhalation in the middle, which is called a "fan" because it refreshes (lit. fanning) memories. Magicians believe that the whole world and our experience of communication, being experienced anew, is given to an extraordinary force that destroys us. Since this maneuver has nothing to do with psychological exercises like psychoanalysis; reliving the whole life experience means using the energy already expended.

On the Remembrance of a Lived Life, Norbert Klassen

(Extract from the book "The Wisdom of the Toltecs in the New Age")

The sorcerers of don Juan's line maintained that the dark sea of awareness does not seek to take the life of a human being; it just wants to get his life experience. But the lack of discipline does not allow people to separate these two things from each other, and as a result they lose their vitality - when they were only meant to convey their life experience.

So, recapitulation is a magical technique that allows you to separate life force from life experience, which happens when a person remembers his past life to the smallest detail and thus makes, as it were, a copy of life experience, which is offered to the Eagle instead of his own awareness. In this way, magicians manage to pay their debt to the creator, without finally ceasing to exist at the time of death.

However, this does not mean, as we will see later, that sorcerers achieve eternal life or become immortal - at least not in the sense in which we usually understand immortality. It's just that a person who has made an exact copy of his awareness and his life experience does not disintegrate at the moment of death, but turns into pure energy, which, however, retains his individual awareness.

In this connection, Castaneda recalls the metaphor by which don Juan explained to him how he imagined such a death: imprint of his personality.

Don Juan tried to explain this to me with the following metaphor. We represent a union of many countries: it includes the country of the lung, the country of the heart, the country of the stomach, the country of the kidney, and so on. Each country sometimes acts independently of the others, but at the moment of death they all unite into one. The sorcerers of don Juan's line called this state of absolute freedom."

Thus sorcerers succeed, by means of recapitulation, in reaching their ultimate goal and transforming death in such a way that it becomes for them not a destroyer to be feared, but a certain unifying force to which they voluntarily open themselves at the appointed hour. They burn in fire from within and disappear from the face of the earth as if they never existed, and the united awareness of all "countries" embarks on a final journey into the unimaginable.

Along with this transcendent purpose, recapitulation also serves a number of other, secondary purposes, which are a kind of stepping stones on the path to final liberation. However, they also have their own value. In this regard, first of all, we should mention the return of the energy that we left in the world during our life, and the giving away of someone else's energy that other people left in us. This happens with the help of a special breathing technique that accompanies the process of remembering and turns a simple act of remembering into a magical process.

Before we proceed to the description of this technique, which is nothing but a magical movement, it is necessary to explain the preliminary actions that are necessary for the practice of remembering. First, we must prepare a list of all the people we have met in our lives. Secondly, we must take care of the time and space framework for remembering.

The best place to start is by making a list. Here it is recommended to act systematically, dividing your own past into separate areas. Practice has shown that it is very convenient to use a folder in which such vast areas as sex, family, friends, neighbors, school, work, etc. are kept separately and, if necessary, can be divided into even smaller subsections. So, school time can be easily divided into classes, which makes it easier to remember individual people or events in the future. At the same time, it is recommended to enter subsections for events in which many people took part at once and which are therefore difficult to associate with a specific person - for example, joint trips with the class or outings, school holidays or events in the school yard during recess.

In these various subsections are entered the names of all those people with whom we have ever come into contact - from a casual acquaintance to the most intimate friendship. If we have forgotten the name of a person, we can describe him in a few words, on the basis of which we can remember him. When describing events, it is also recommended not to describe them in detail and avoid detailed comments, because the list should serve us only as a kind of map of our personal history, on the basis of which we will later navigate the path through the details of our memories.

Compiling an inventory list in itself is not an easy challenge, primarily because we have met thousands of people in our lives. However, it is very important at this stage not to give up and not give in to doubts, since at this stage we, in fact, declare our intention to remember. By compiling the list, we for the first time present an account of our entire past life and get the impression of what sorcerers call "the sum of all our actions", and of what we must return to the Eagle. At the same time, this preparatory exercise helps us acquire at least a minimal amount of determination, concentration and patience - all those qualities that are essential for the practice of remembering.

As we work on the list, we must simultaneously think of a suitable place for the remembrance. It doesn't have to be the solitary cave that Taisha Abelar describes in her book. Any quiet place where you can sit comfortably will work for this purpose. However, it will be of great advantage if this place can be darkened and if its small size will put pressure on the shell of our luminous cocoon.

For this reason, the magicians of antiquity built real boxes for remembering or used earthen "coffins", which not only reliably shielded from any external influences, but also exerted the necessary physical pressure to bring both the spirit and the body into a state optimal for remembering. The combination of a screen from external influences and a certain pressure on the luminous cocoon brings us to a peculiar state of mind, in which, on the one hand, a person is extremely alert and concentrated, but on the other, extremely calm and relaxed: a feeling of penetration that knows no hurry, and a feeling confidence that is neither drowsiness nor carelessness. However, to achieve this ideal state, we do not need any special facilities, because in this respect, a wardrobe, a box or a covered shower stall will be as effective as an expensive "samadhitank".

When we have completed the listing and selected or constructed a suitable site, the real remembrance begins. At the same time, it is recommended to first remember all sexual contacts, because most of us have lost a lot of energy in this area that can be returned back. This not only puts us in a state of energy uplift, which makes it easier for us to remember later, but also allows us to break the energy threads to former partners, who are still active, as we know from the description of "energy worms" in chapter 5.

This is true not only for women, who can thus stop further leakage of energy by not abstaining from sexual intercourse for seven years, but also for men, who, through remembrance, can free themselves from the secret influence of the energy of the former partner. However, one should refrain from remembering a connection that is current or desired in the future, because there is a danger that this connection will be broken as a result of remembering.

So, they take a leaflet relating to our sexual activity and go to the place chosen for remembrance. There they sit comfortably, but the back should be straight, and begin with introductory breathing. At the same time, turn the head to the right until it stops, until the chin is on the right shoulder. Then inhale slowly through the nose while turning the head to the left. When the chin is on the left shoulder, the movement stops and exhalation begins through the mouth, while the head returns to its original relaxed state.

This introductory breath is repeated each time before the start of a new session of remembering, and also before the start of remembering for each individual person. At the same time, as in the future, care should be taken to inhale deeply with the diaphragm and not turn the head too far so as not to damage the cervical vertebrae.

Then they take the first name on the sheet and remember the last meeting with this person - in this case, the last sexual intercourse. However, in the beginning, one does not concentrate on the action itself or on the feelings experienced then, but begins with the reconstruction of the scene, some act of visual representation, in which all external elements of the event must be reproduced as accurately as possible before the inner eye.

First, they imagine a distant environment, for example, a street or a house in which the remembered event took place, then they imagine how they enter the building and the room of the action, just as if they really entered this room. At the same time, they pay attention to every detail: on the floors, on the furniture, on the wallpaper, on the pictures on the walls, on all sorts of little things and objects that our memory can reconstruct. Then they do the same with the appearance of the person participating in the event and his clothes, integrating them into his idea. In this phase, one should intensely pay attention to the perceptions of other senses in addition to vision: what kind of music sounded at that moment? what perfume or eau de toilette did your partner use that evening?

If someone has problems with visualization, then it can be advised to first practice on simple objects and familiar spaces. They simply close their eyes and imagine a room in their own house. In imagination, they look around and try to see as many details as possible. Then they mentally move to another room and examine it just as carefully. It's not difficult at all, and with some practice it will be easy to visualize scenes from the past just as vividly and distinctly.

Only after the scene of the event has been fully framed with all possible details, do they finally start into a true recollection of the event. At the same time, the event is allowed to develop freely, as if by pressing a button they set in motion a frozen frame of a film strip. Only in this case they use not the control module, but breathing, with the help of which you can completely immerse yourself in recollection.

While they remember the event - all the conversations, kisses, tenderness, flirting, the sexual act itself - breathe deeply with the diaphragm, and the head slowly moves back and forth in a sweeping movement. The sweeping breath begins when the chin is on the right shoulder. During inhalation, the head is turned to the left, imagining that with the help of inhalation all the feelings invested in the event are returned back. After a short delay, exhalation begins above the left shoulder, during which all unwanted and alien feelings are thrown out, and the head returns to its original position above the right shoulder. Then the whole movement is repeated.

As a true magical movement, the sweeping breath not only helps us release the energy that was held in the past and bring it back when we inhale, that we throw out harmful alien energy when we exhale, but also that the details of our remembered event become clearer with each breath. . Therefore, it is recommended to practice sweeping breathing throughout the entire time of remembering. It is completed only when all the details and feelings are re-experienced and clarified by breathing, which is recognized by the special sensation that the corresponding scene becomes "empty", that is, free from any emotions.

If, while remembering, you suddenly feel that the body is taking too much part in the process of remembering, or suddenly there is a feeling of nausea, palpitations, cramps, or sweat breaks out, you should continue to move your head back and forth, but do not breathe while doing this until these symptoms will disappear. This sweeping motion softens and untangles the corresponding threads of energy and allows us to overcome the blockages and go even deeper into the memory without any problems.

At the same time, it is also recommended to supplement the recollection of the sexual intercourse itself, and above all the orgasm, with the next magical movement, which can be used to share the connection between a man and a woman in the form of energy worms. This occurs as a result of a short, decisive blow with the edge of the palm, performed in the space immediately in front of the abdomen - respectively, in front of the uterus. In this case, the inner side of the palm is directed towards the stomach, but does not touch it. The hand only glides over the energy field and separates the energy bonds that now belong only to the past once and for all.

With the help of this technique, they work through the entire range of sexual activity, and then other areas of the inventory list, remembering one person after another and freeing more and more energy from the shackles of the past. Moreover, it is recommended to first recall the events of the recent past, because they are usually more accessible to our memory and will prepare our ability to concentrate, and our memory - to more complex tasks.

In this regard, the hardest nuts should be saved for last: mother, father, memories of the earliest childhood, when we were shown our place and our behavior was programmed. Only with the help of the previously accumulated experience of recapitulation can we be able to make the effects of socialization energetically inactive and finally free our assemblage point from any kind of fixation.

However, this in no way means that only at this stage we will get a noticeable effect from the process of remembering. The systematic repetition of our personal history will very quickly lead to the fact that we see all the monotony of our usual behavior and our attachment to the cornerstones at the foundation of the everyday world. We will find that in our interactions with other people we are constantly representing or defending ourselves, and usually we have only one or two tricks by which we come to the fore or compete for attention. At the same time, it will become clear to us how much we are controlled in our actions by a biological imperative and a sense of self-importance, which we will encounter in almost every memory.

The recall technique is by no means a psychoanalysis or an analytic self-help technique, even if these techniques also use knowledge gained from research into the past. Castaneda warns against misunderstandings about this, as rational analysis will negatively affect recall. When recapitulating, one does not reflect on the past - one does not evaluate it, but simply relives it again in memory. And thanks to this once again conscious experience, one receives direct knowledge, real understanding, based only on our bodily and energy experience, and not on the false dualism of an alien intrusion, which we call our mind.

This understanding arises quite specifically due to the fact that we are aware of the energy area in the process of remembering, and we notice where in the world we have left too much energy and where other people have filled us with their emotions. It is the knowledge of our body, which, contrary to analytic reasoning, acts instantly and changes our behavior at its very core, as it is transferred directly to the perception of the everyday world.

If, for example, we learn in the process of remembering by what trick we always try to come to the fore, we will recognize this trick immediately and in our daily life, and it will instantly become clear to us that we are again wasting our energy. Therefore, remembering is not only the best means of changing our behavior, but also the only way to do this without the mediation of an evaluative mind, which can hardly be trusted in this case. As we remember, this will become more and more clear as we come to know that there is a deep gulf between our thoughts and our actions, and our mind does not seem to be oriented at all to our true needs.

In the abstract description of sorcerers, this direct understanding is nothing more than the result of minimal shifts in the assemblage point, which occur because in the process of remembering we are constantly moving back and forth between the actual position of the assemblage point and the position it occupied at the time of the remembered event. Along with the return of lost energy and the expansion of awareness, recollection, on the one hand, also causes some mobility of the assemblage point, which allows us to be more relaxed in our behavior. On the other hand, a phantom position of the assemblage point arises, an alternative observation post from which we can observe both the events of our past and what we experience in the present.

Taisha Abelar explains: “In an abstract sense, the recall technique creates an alternative platform from which you can come, because you are working in two places at the same time. You move from here to there, from your present state to the memory of your then reality, of what your world was then. And you see how patterns of behavior are repeated. You hear what your parents told you, and you get to know the energy relationships - you see them. Suddenly and directly you see. But what does he see in you? Not your everyday self, but that other being, the seer. Don Juan called him the inner seer who wakes up. You are activating that phantom assemblage point position that we all have, despite the fact that the convention of the everyday world forbids us from even recognizing its existence, let alone using it.”

In this way, we create by remembering a neutral vantage point from which we can observe ourselves and the world around us without prejudice. At the beginning, we are really talking about a kind of phantom position, which, however, is becoming stronger due to the constant practice of cutting off all energy ties with the past and one day will become a real alternative to the position of the everyday world, will become the position of the witness, which we have already described when speaking about the path of the warrior.

In everyday life, this means not only that we learn through remembering to be constantly in the present and perceive our world without the evaluative characteristics of the mind, but also that we are no longer tied to its cognitive mechanisms. The position of the witness is not a fortress where we hide in order to perceive only passively, it is an active independent position that has its own mechanism of cognition. This mechanism arises, however, not from an extension of the system of interpretation already familiar to us, but from the direct interpretation of perception by our body, the seer, the magician.

It's not that we didn't know it before, but we simply ignored it. Taisha Abelar emphasizes that everyone has a phantom position of the assemblage point and it brings the inner seer to the fore in the same way as the everyday assemblage point - our everyday "I". Each of us has an inner seer, access to direct knowledge of our body, which constantly informs us of what it sees.

As an older part of ourselves, he tells us, for example, that we are once again looking for our own fulfillment in other people. The inner seer warns us long before we get into any hopeless scam and reminds us of the experience. In ordinary life, however, we most often ignore it and build castles in the air until reality presses us against the wall and we descend from heaven to earth, inexpressibly surprised at the change that the inner seer predicted long before, down to the smallest detail.

Innumerable cases of this kind of neglect lead to the fact that the connection with the inner seer for most of us has long been completely cut off. Even if we have a vague idea of some inner voice, we usually do not want to know anything about it, because it prevents us from enjoying our self-indulgence and constantly calls us to discipline and responsibility for what we do. In such a case, we prefer to remain deaf and blind than to face the naked reality in full awareness. And due to understandable frustration, the voice of the inner seer grows quieter and quieter until it is silenced forever.

The technique of recollection is the best opportunity to reverse this process, to make friends with the inner seer again and move step by step back to its observing position. This task is not easy - it is a lifelong undertaking, because there is always the danger that one day we will again be too indulgent to ourselves and fall into the net of a mirror of self-reflection, which, as if by a wave of the hand, will deprive us of all accumulated energy and throw us back again. to the original position.

Remembrance for a warrior does not end for this reason, even when, after many years of practice, he comes to the end of the list. But not only because of this, remembering continues throughout life. The warrior begins the second, third, fourth reminiscences, in which he is completely under the guidance of intention and the inner seer, who tell him what to do. This may mean, for example, that he daily remembers the events of the past day or searches in the past for the origin of the current mood, tracing the corresponding energy lines with the breath and breaking them at the very beginning.

One can, in fact, let the inner seer guide oneself at the first recollection and follow his instructions in developing the structure, although it is usually still a great advantage in the beginning to adhere to the described formal method with the compilation of an inventory list and with a systematic recall of life from the present until the moment of birth.

Sweeping breathing is also a very important part, although, in truth, it does not matter whether one inhales by turning the head to the left and exhales by turning the right or vice versa. This should be especially emphasized, since many readers were perplexed that don Juan's heirs in their books sometimes point in the opposite direction.

According to Florinda Donner-Grau, the reverse direction can also be practiced and is just as effective if you associate the inhalation with the intention of bringing back one's own energy and the exhalation with the intention of giving back someone else's energy. It is not the direction of breathing that is important, but the effect: to feel the energy in the process of breathing. When they have enough experience in doing the practice of remembering, they do not need to sit in a box - you can remember while washing dishes or sitting on a train. Donner-Grau says in this connection that she did most of her remembering on long bus rides in Mexico, because her claustrophobia made it impossible to do it in a box or a cave.

From the book "The Gift of the Eagle"

(Florinda, this is the Elder Florinda, also known as Florinda Matus)

This position suited Florinda, since she had to complete the task of recapitulation, and for this she needed absolute silence and solitude. She explained that revision is the main power of stalkers, just as the dream body is the power of dreamers. It consists of reviewing one's own life down to the smallest detail.

Her benefactor gave her the box as a means and a symbol to help her learn concentration, because she had to sit there for many years until her whole life passed before her eyes, and at the same time it was a symbol of the narrowness of the boundaries of our personality. Her benefactor told her that when she finished her recapitulation, she would break the box, symbolizing that she was no longer bound by the limitations of her own personality.

She said that stalkers use boxes or earthen coffins to hide themselves in while they relive, not just revisit, every moment of their lives. The reason why stalkers have to re-examine their lives in such a detailed way is that the eagle's gift to a person includes his agreement to accept a surrogate instead of real consciousness, if that surrogate is a perfect copy.

Florinda explained that since consciousness is the eagle's food, he can be satisfied with a perfectly done revision instead of consciousness.

Florinda then gave me the basis of the revision. She said that the first stage is a summary of all the cases in our lives, which are clearly subject to revision. The second stage is a more complete revision, which begins systematically from the point where the stalker has sat in the box and can theoretically extend all the way to the moment of birth. She assured me that a complete revision could change a warrior as much, if not more, than complete control of the dreaming body. In this sense, both the art of dreaming and the art of stalking led to the same end - entry into the third attention. It is important for a warrior, however, to know and practice both. She said that women need different luminous body configurations to master one or the other. Men, on the other hand, can do both rather easily, but they are never able to achieve the level of skill that women achieve in every art.

Florinda explained that the key to the revision was the breath. For her, breathing was magical because it was a life-giving function. She said it was easy to revise if you could reduce the area of arousal around the body. That was the point of the box. Then the breath will carry deeper and deeper memories. Theoretically, stalkers have to remember every feeling they had in life, and this process begins with their breath.

She warned me that the things she taught me were only preliminary and that at another time and in another setting she would teach me the finer points. She said that her benefactor told her to write a list of the things she had to go through. He told her that the process begins with the initial breath. The stalker starts with his chin resting on his right shoulder and as he inhales slowly, he turns his head in an arc of 180 degrees. Inhalation ends on the left shoulder. After the breath is completed, the head returns to a relaxed position. The stalker exhales, looking straight ahead. Then the stalker takes the event that he has first on the list and stays with him until all the feelings spent in this event are taken into account.

When the stalker remembers all the feelings that he experienced in what he remembers, he slowly inhales, moving his head from his right shoulder to his left. The meaning of this breath is to restore energy. Florinda said that the luminous body is constantly creating weblike threads that come out of the luminous mass under the influence of various emotions, so every interaction situation or any situation where feeling is involved is potentially devastating for the luminous body. Inhaling from right to left while remembering a feeling, the stalker, using breath magic, picks up those threads that he left behind. This is immediately followed by exhalation from left to right. With his help, the stalker is freed from the threads left in him by other luminous bodies that participated in the event that is being remembered.

She said that this was an obligatory preliminary stage in the art of stalking, which all members of her party went through as an introduction to the more complex exercises of this art. If stalkers have not gone through this preliminary stage in order to recover the threads they have left in the world, and in particular to throw away the threads left in them by others, there is no way to practice controlled stupidity, because these threads are the basis for the limitless possibility of self-consciousness growth. ..

The practice called "recapitulation" is one of the types of work with energy - the one that a person has lost in the past, as well as the one that was forcibly "stuck" in his biofield from other people. The main task of this technique is to switch to the present and turn your back on your past - in other words, stop making important life decisions based on past negative experiences.

Method of Carlos Castaneda

One of the most important components of the recapitulation technique is breathing. With its help, the practitioner consciously redirects the work of his own body from destruction to self-healing and healing. Past experience no longer dominates him. This technique was adopted by mystic and author of a series of books, Carlos Castaneda, who pioneered this technique, from a magician named Don Juan. The term "recapitulation" was first encountered in Castaneda's book The Power of Silence, written in 1987.

The Benefits of Practice

The constant interchange of emotional and spiritual energy leads to the fact that a person acquires a certain opinion about himself, which is very difficult to change over the years. He becomes a hostage to those ideas about himself that were imposed on him from the outside. And in this case, it is proposed to use an unusual technique called recapitulation. Why do we need a recapture technique? What exactly does she give?

  • Freedom. This magical technique allows you to destroy ideas about yourself that have been imposed on a person in society. It helps to get rid of the restrictions imposed on him, the lack of freedom in actions, which led to self-restraint. According to mystics, a full variety of styles of behavior becomes available to a person - from old and half-forgotten, which could be used only a few times in a lifetime, to completely new ones. Thus, a person gets a chance to build his interaction with people differently than it was before. He is freed from old behavior patterns.
  • Lucid dreams. The technique allows you to free the unconscious from too intense emotional experiences. It clears from the accumulated fears, hopes for the future. The space of the unconscious becomes more pure. This allows you to see yourself in dreams, control your behavior in them.
  • Getting a "pass" to relive the most important traumatic event in life. Many are wondering if a person changes if his behavior, as psychoanalysts say, is hard-coded by society in childhood. It is often difficult for an adult to establish the true root causes of his current psychological problems. But this allows you to do the technique of recapitulation. Esotericists argue that upon reaching a certain point in development, personal growth is possible only after a colossal shock - an event that once became terrifying for a person, shaking the foundations of his being. This event is called "pass". There is no way to intentionally find this pass. But every person who will perform the recapitulation technique will stumble upon it sooner or later.

Preparation for the implementation of the methodology: compiling a list

Before embarking on this esoteric technique, it is necessary to make a list of all the people with whom you have interacted in life. This is a very long and painstaking work. It may take a lot of time. The first on this list should be sexual partners, since it is on them that the lion's share of a person's energy is spent. During the recapitulation technique, they are the first to be remembered. The list should end with father and mother. After all, it is their figures that are key in shaping the worldview of a person.

How to make a list

The description of the recapitulation technique was first introduced to the world by Carlos Castaneda. According to the mystic, in order to remember as many people as possible, it is first useful to refresh your memory by remembering the brightest events that have occurred in life. It can be those events that taught something important, or, on the contrary, became traumatic. It is also worth remembering those incidents due to which serious changes occurred in life.

Starting from the events restored in memory, they go directly to people, putting them on the list. It is recommended to start compiling it from the present to the past, since recent memories are fresh and with their help you can activate the ability to remember.

Selection of areas

Another way to make a detailed list for remembering a life lived is to make a selection of certain areas or types of activities that were an important part of everyday reality. The most typical examples may include:

  • houses in which they had to live;
  • love affairs;
  • family relationships;
  • Work;
  • school, university;
  • friends.

In this case, you need to focus on your own experience. If a person is a closed introvert, he should not try to make a list of friends. For a person who has never moved in his entire life, the category “At Home” is unlikely to help remember anything. The most effective lists will be those that are directly related to real life.

Preparing the environment

Usually, the recapitulation technique is done while sitting in a large cardboard or wooden box. It must have a ventilated top. Castaneda writes:

"...Stalkers use boxes or earthen coffins to hide themselves in while they relive, not just revisit, every moment of their lives."

If there is no box, then the technique should be performed in any enclosed space, in the dark. For example, closed in the pantry. Or you can cover the bathroom with something warm and turn off the light.

The practice area must be quiet and comfortable. It is preferable that no one distract at this time. This is especially important at the first stage, while the practitioner has not yet developed the sensitivity of energy. Some esotericists recommend that the technique be carried out under the condition of complete sensory deprivation: in a room where it is dark, quiet, and also a little crowded. For this purpose, a specially prepared box is suitable.

But if such a condition is a little shocking for a practitioner or his relatives, then you can completely do without a cramped box. The complete absence of external stimuli is necessary for a more complete immersion in the past while remembering a certain situation. A little tightness will further enhance this effect.

Execution Method

The Castaneda recapitulation technique includes the following steps:

  1. Initially, you need to sit in a special box or a dark room.
  2. Then you need to redirect your attention to the experiences of your body during a particular life situation, fully concentrating on them. In other words, you need to remember what happened and how, what kind of stop was. It is necessary, as it were, to be in that situation again, simultaneously experiencing the whole spectrum of sensations.
  3. Holding the picture in your mind, you need to turn your head from the right shoulder to the left, touching it with your chin. Simultaneously with the rotation, a slow deep breath is taken with the intention of taking all of your energy left in that situation. In other words, when breathing in, the practitioner again draws in his psychological forces, takes them into his body.
  4. Then there is a short pause.
  5. After it, the head is slowly turned to the right shoulder, accompanied by an exhalation and the intention to give someone else's energy to those people who brought it.
  6. The process is restarted.

Do I need to be a sorcerer's apprentice to use the technique?

Taisha Abelar, one of the students of Carlos Castaneda, calls recapitulation one of the oldest techniques that don Juan's students inherited. However, it was almost forgotten by the ancient magicians for the reason that they were more interested in power over other people.

To use this technique, one does not need to be a follower of a magician or any guru. It can be performed by absolutely anyone who shows interest in it. This technique allows you to destroy the imposed ideas of a person about himself.

Optimal time

The period from 22:00 to 07:00 is the best time to do the recapitulation technique. The return of energy in this interval occurs in the most complete volume. Most people are already asleep at this time and do not interfere with their attention. This applies not only to family members living under one roof, but also to the entire society living in the city. People are asleep, and magical techniques are easier to perform. But if there is no opportunity to practice during this period, then you can perform it at any other time.

If you can't concentrate

Even if the focus of attention jumps, and concentration does not come out, it is necessary to continue the practice. Over time, a skill will be developed that helps to maintain focus for a long time. After about a week of doing the technique every day for about an hour, the practitioner is surprised to note the fact that it becomes much easier for him to concentrate.

If you don't feel the energy

In this case, it is necessary to continue the technique until the body learns to feel. After a maximum of a month, the practitioner begins to distinguish his own energy from the energy of his partners, relatives or people from the list of friends. As a rule, this happens even earlier - for some practitioners already on the first or second exercise.

How do you know when the practice is over?

Experienced esotericists recommend completing the recapitulation, focusing on your feelings. If a person remembers a situation, and it becomes gray, empty for him, it means that it no longer has an emotional component. If there are emotions, it is necessary to continue to perform the technique until they disappear.

Another common question from practitioners is: how long should the total duration of a series of exercises be in order to completely take one's own energy and return someone else's? Ideally, all contacts with people in which there was a serious exchange of energy should be reviewed until there is no emotion left in the memory. After that, the person will have the feeling that he just knows him as an ordinary acquaintance. It is for this reason that it is not recommended to carry out the technique with those relationships that a person would like to maintain at the moment.

Revisiting relationships with parents

The importance of the past in the present is often underestimated by man. But it becomes possible to neutralize the accumulated negative consequences of socialization only on the condition that a person has already gained enough experience in conducting the practice of recapitulation.

Although recapitulation of relationships with parents is essential, this does not mean that the practitioner will have the desired effect only when he begins the practice of recapitulating relationships with them.

Gradual practice, involving the systematic repetition of one's own personal history, quickly allows a person to understand that all his behavior is characterized by monotony, and in a number of situations he constantly shows the same reactions.

Difference from psychoanalysis

Castaneda repeatedly emphasized that recapitulation is not psychoanalysis and cannot be equated with it. Even if psychologists use this technique, such a definition cannot be correct. The fact is that rational analysis negatively affects memory. When recapitulating, one does not reflect on past experience and does not subject it to evaluation. It is simply re-experienced in memory. Through this experience one gets the opportunity to acquire true knowledge. Castaneda calls it "knowledge of the body", which, in contrast to logical reasoning, instantly affects life, a person's perception of his everyday world.

The importance of the technique for those associated with mysticism

Castaneda himself wrote that recapitulation is an essential step in the development of every follower of his teachings. If this practice is not completed, a person will not be able to move further in the direction of development suggested by his concept. Here is what he writes:

If stalkers have not gone through this preparatory stage in order to return the threads they have left in the world, and in particular to throw away the threads left in them by others, there is no way to practice controlled stupidity, because these foreign threads are the basis for the limitless growing sense of self-importance.

Recapitulation technique: reviews

As for reviews of this technique, they can be divided into several categories.

  • Those people who for some reason did not fit the technique say that the practice helped them remember some moments from the past, but did not have a significant impact on perception.
  • Those to whom the recapitulation helped to correct some areas of life, however, these changes cannot be called global. Many of these practitioners write that if they had continued with the exercise, they would have been able to achieve better results.
  • Practitioners who have made significant progress in this exercise. They were able to transform relationships with other people, take a different look at the world. This technique has become for them truly the key to success. If earlier they wondered if a person is changing, now they themselves have become the answer to this question. After all, this practice completely changed them.
  • Some practitioners write that for them the main factor in achieving a positive result was strict adherence to the rules of technology. At first, they did not make lists of people for whom the recapitulation was made. But then, when they began to record the names of acquaintances, the process went faster. Also for them, the key condition was the location during the practice. Being in an ordinary room, they did not get the desired effect. If it was possible to perform the technique in a confined space, the action was higher.
  • There are those practitioners for whom it was important to combine this technique with other practices - meditation, yoga and even psychotherapy.

The recapitulation technique is unusual, but for many it is really effective. Therefore, it is worth a try to anyone who is interested in self-development. Ultimately, it cannot hurt, and the likelihood of gaining new experience and releasing old habits is quite high, subject to regular practice.

This practice is rooted in obscurity. For the first time, the technique of recapitulating the past was discussed when the books of Carlos Castaneda were published and the world absorbed the wisdom of don Juan. Here I will not go into the details of the recapitulation technique, but will only briefly give my review.

On the Internet there is a lot of information about the correct implementation of the recapitulation with various variations and comments. Those who do not want to absorb the product of someone else's perception can read the books of the above author, but this will not be the primary source, because the source is in ourselves. Since you are here, I dare to offer you my review of the recapitulation, cleared of all unnecessary, in my opinion, layers and additions. Also, I will not give you many instructions or teachings in the implementation of the technique, but only the most necessary, and I will tell you why. So let's get started.

Execution features technique recapitulation

Throughout life, a person leaves traces behind him. Not just footprints or handprints. More subtle traces, imprints of your energy, imprints of your essence. These traces are everywhere, on objects and even in other people. Things absorb and mix in themselves the imprints of all the people who interacted with them. Take for example a chair, now I am sitting on it, yesterday you were sitting, and the object retains our common traces. The situation is similar with a person, but there is also a difference, which lies in the special connection between people. And first of all, this is the strongest animal connection - sexual. With those who have had intimate contact with us, the strongest connection is preserved.

Now a new "mainstream" is emerging in the world when a person tries to suppress his sexual instinct in the hope of accelerated development or gaining the desired abilities. And there is some truth in this. But as practice shows, most of these aspirations end in mental pathologies, because as Gurdjieff said:

If your strength increases, so does your negative strength, which in one moment will break you, unless, of course, you learn to cope with it.

George Gurdjieff

In other words, in order to find your integrity, you need to learn not to separate the “bad” and “good” in yourself, but to prioritize and remove the shackles of restrictions from yourself. You don't do "it" not because you force yourself to limit yourself, but because you don't want to do it, you practice not-doing by creating a "don't want" intention to replace the existing automation. Examine your desires with attention, reflect on where they originate, there is also an exit.

All this can be difficult given the moral education of the society in which we grew up and live. So the desire for light and the victory of good over evil were inspired in us from early childhood, in the same fairy tales. By the way, few people know, but all authentic fairy tales ended fatally, the main character always died at the end, and this is what our ancestors told their children. Moreover, there is a deep meaning here, but more on that another time.

Preparation for practice recapitulation of the past

The very word recapitulation intuitively leads us to the idea that it will be necessary to look at something, to revise the past. This is the practice of remembering, something similar is used by psychoanalysts in their writings. Remembering your life and recapitulating its special moments. Our memory keeps many secrets, false childhood memories and other illusions. The essence of the recapitulation technique is to cut off all energy attachments that have ever taken place. Some people think that in this way they take energy back, but I think this is a delusion, since energy cannot be taken away.

The most important ingredient for doing a recapitulation is not feeling sorry for yourself and taking full responsibility for your actions. In order to stop feeling sorry for yourself, you need to learn to always remember your death, to realize it, to constantly stay in this state, you can. After all, we do not know when our life will end and this awareness is your first key.

We ourselves produce psychic energy, which constantly leaves through these "holes". In order to start accumulating personal power in ourselves, we need to remove the connecting link from ourselves - to cut off the channel of leakage in the subconscious. Sometimes we do it intuitively, sometimes in a dream, but most often such connections remain. This leak is an emotional pattern of behavior. For example, in the past you had an emotional outburst, which was fixed in your subconscious, became a pattern of behavior. And often you do not even understand why in such situations you act in the same way as you once did in the past. You must break the established pattern and give yourself the right to freedom of choice. Intention is your second key.

The essence of the recapitulation technique is the return of energy

Here I will not give you advice to write down the names of people, fasting, and other secondary things. I believe that the most important thing in the practice of recapitulation is initiation. The ancients went to the cave for initiation or carried out self-burial. The bottom line is a long stay in a closed dark room. A modern person can use a closet or drawer for this. This is a symbolic death and subsequent rebirth. When the outside world is enclosed in tight boundaries, a person involuntarily plunges into himself. Images begin to emerge with which he identifies, merges, becomes one. The main thing in the practice of recapitulation is a sharp release of the "binding" from the subconscious. When inhaling, a person consciously gives strength to the image (you can concentrate on the pineal gland), while exhaling, quickly throws the image out of the subconscious. Don Juan Matus advises turning the head to the right during inhalation and to the left during exhalation. Of course, this will not interfere and the effectiveness of the recapitulation technique will increase.

Inhaling from right to left while remembering a feeling, the stalker, using the energy of breathing, picks up the threads left behind. This is immediately followed by exhalation from left to right. With the help of it, the stalker is freed from those threads that other luminous bodies that participated in the remembered event left in him.

Performing a Recapitulation

As a formal practice, recapitulation begins with the compilation of a recapitulation list.

Work on each event or person on the list continues until all emotions associated with the event have disappeared. The process of recapitulation is accompanied by a special breath (“sweeping breath”) - a slow exhalation with a head turn to the left, a slow breath in with a head turn to the right, which has various variations depending on the nature of the situation being recapitulated.

Don Juan taught me to combine recollection with natural rhythmic breathing. A deep exhalation should be done in time with a slow gentle movement of the head from right to left; a deep breath is taken when the head moves in the opposite direction - from left to right. He called this process of shaking his head from side to side "fanning the event." The mind explores the event from beginning to end, while the body "fans" again and again everything that the mind focuses on. Don Juan said that the sorcerers of the past, who discovered the recapitulation, considered the breath as a magical, vital action and used it accordingly - as a magical tool. Exhalation is used to release the negative energy left in them as a result of the event, which is being recapitulated, and inhalation is used to return the energy that they lost during the interaction.

Revision Terms

The conditions for recapitulation are a calm environment, silence, complete loneliness for a certain time and the presence of a recapitulation box, a recapitulation list compiled in advance.

Carlos Castaneda "Gift of the Eagle"

Due to the difficult conditions for some people, various organizations sometimes organize traveling collective sessions of recapitulation or provide a place for practice, which does not always meet the very requirements for conducting a recapitulation as a purely individual and intimate process.

In the same book, the idea is expressed that recapitulation should never stop, continuing throughout the life of a warrior and getting deeper and deeper.

The recapitulation of our lives must never end, no matter how well done once, don Juan said. - The reason why ordinary people cannot control their will in dreams is because they have never recapitulated their lives, and their dreams are filled with very intense emotions for this reason, such as memories, hopes, fears, and so on and so on. the like.

Carlos Castaneda "The Art of Dreaming"

It also mentions that recapitulation automatically causes the practitioner to suspend dream practice, and this is often the criterion for a properly initiated recapitulation.

Recapitulation and psychoanalysis

Recapitulation is similar in character to some methods of psychoanalysis, but nevertheless it is not. The book "The Art of Dreaming" asserts the energetic nature of the practice of recapitulation and, thus, the similarity with psychoanalysis is possible only as the similarity of some of the consequences of recapitulation to the results of the methods of psychoanalysis.

Recapitulation (compilation from books)

Two main levels of recapitulation:

1. The first is characterized by formality and rigidity. Very painstakingly and carefully make a list of all the people with whom you have interacted. From now to the past, from Z to A. The list will end with your father and mother.

How to do it: From the beginning, refresh your memory by remembering and writing down the most vivid memories of your life. Events that taught you something important, events that left a deep mark, events that led to total changes for you. In my opinion, this is the compilation of a memorable album of a warrior. Next, starting from the restored events, move on to people, to compiling a list of all people.

There is an incomprehensible powerful force in the universe that endows all beings with awareness and life. Under the influence of the same force, beings die, thereby returning to her the borrowed early awareness, strengthened and enriched by their life experiences. This force is interested precisely in experiences, so it is very important to saturate it with copies of our life experience obtained during the recapitulation. The list of people can be ordered at your own discretion, using the division into areas of activity, for example: various positions, professions, recreation, sports, various training courses, sex partners, this section is especially important, since we spend a lot of energy on sexual experiences that are necessary return and redistribute via recapture.

After that, you need to go from the first person on this list to the last one, without missing anyone, reliving each meeting with them again. When recapitulating the event, fragment by fragment is reconstructed, starting with the recall of external details, then moving on to the personality, and ending with turning to oneself, exploring one's feelings.

The recollection of events must be combined with rhythmic breathing. Deep exhalation should be done in time with a slow, gentle movement of the head from right to left; a deep breath is taken when the head moves in the opposite direction - from left to right. This shaking of the head from side to side is called "fanning the event." Breathing is a magical, vital action. Exhalation is used to release the negative energy left in the memory as a result of the event (clearing one's memories of negativity). Inhalation - to return the energy lost during a certain event.

Revision is best done in a confined space, in the dark. For example: closing in the pantry, or laying the bath with soft towels, or something else, turn off the light in the bathroom, get comfortable .... and go ahead.

2. The second level of recapitulation is characterized by mobility of attention. When you recapitulate the second level, you yourself do not remember either events or people, leave it to the spirit to decide. You simply, as usual, sit down, close your eyes, begin to shake your head in time with rhythmic breathing, then certain events will pop up by themselves. Time after time, looking through these fragmentary, seemingly unrelated events, they form your life from a very interesting angle. So, let the spirit decide what and in what sequence you rewatch.

Pass

As we review our lives, all the rubbish comes to the surface. We are aware of our contradictions, our repetitions, but something in us has great resistance to recapitulation. Magicians say that the road is free only after a colossal shock; after the memory of the event appears on the screen, which shakes our foundations with terrifying clarity of detail. This event truly pulls us back to the very moment we experienced it. Magicians call this event a pass, because after it, every event that we touch is re-experienced, and not just remembered.

There is no way to find a pass, but one way or another, everyone who will do a recapitulation will inevitably, sooner or later, stumble upon it.

The recapitulation of our lives must never end, no matter how well done once, don Juan said. – The reason why ordinary people cannot control their will in dreams is that they have never recapitulated their lives, and their dreams, for this reason, are filled with very intense emotions, such as memories, hopes, fears, etc. further and the like.

Recapitulation is also a ruse used by the magician to bring about a permanent shift in the assemblage point, however slight. The assemblage point, influenced by viewing past events and experiences, moves back and forth between its present position and the position it held when the integrating experience took place. And this is an act of weakening the fixation of the assemblage point in its everyday - standard position, which brings us closer to seeing the energy fields, makes the vision more accessible.

Excerpt from Carlos Castaneda's book, The Active Side of Infinity, about recapitulation

It's time for you to start one of the biggest magical projects, don Juan said.

What magical project are you talking about, don Juan? I asked.

It's called recapitulation - the ancient sorcerers called it retelling the events of their lives, and for them it began as a simple technique, an aid to remembering what they did and said to their students. For their students, this technique had the same value: it allowed them to remember what their teachers had said and done. It took terrible social upheavals, such as being conquered and defeated several times, before the magicians of old realized that their technique had much more far-reaching consequences.

Don Juan, are you talking about the Spanish conquest? I asked.

No, he said. - It was only the final note. There were other shocks before that, more devastating. When the Spaniards got here, the magicians of antiquity were gone. Their disciples, who had survived other shocks, were by then very circumspect. They knew how to take care of themselves. It was this new generation of sorcerers who renamed the technique of the sorcerers of old and called it recapitulation.

Time is extremely valuable,” he continued. - In general, time is material for magicians. For me, the challenge is that in a very short time I have to cram into you everything that is known about magic as an abstract pursuit, but in order to do this, I need to build in you the space necessary for this.

What space? What are you talking about, don Juan?

Magicians proceed from the fact that in order to bring something in, there must be a space where to bring it in, - he said. - If you are filled to the brim with the objects of everyday life, then there is no room for anything new. This space needs to be built. You know what I mean? Ancient sorcerers believed that recapitulating one's life creates this space. He really does it and, of course, a lot more.

Magicians perform recapitulation in a very formal way,” he continued. - It consists of making a list of all the people they have met, from the present to the very beginning of their lives. When they have this list, they take the first person on it and remember everything they can about that person. And I mean everything, every detail. It is better to review from the present to the past, because the memories of the present are fresh, and thus the ability to remember is sharpened. Practitioners do what they remember and breathe. They inhale slowly and consciously, waving their heads like a fan from right to left, with a barely noticeable turn, and exhale in the same way. He said that the inhalation and exhalation should be natural; if they are too fast, one can enter into what he called fatiguing breathing: breathing after which one must breathe normally to calm the muscles.

And what do you suggest I do with all this, don Juan? I asked. “Start making your list today,” he said.

Divide it by year, by profession, put it in any order, but make it consistent, starting with the most recent person, and ending with mom and dad. And then remember all about them. Enough talk. As you practice, you will understand what you are doing. On my next visit to don Juan's house, I told him that I had been conscientiously going through the events of my life and that it was very difficult for me to stick to such a rigid form and go through the list of people in turn. As a rule, my recapitulation threw me in all directions. I let events determine the direction of my recollection. I voluntarily began to adhere to broad periods of time. For example, I started with people in the anthropology department, but let my memories take me anywhere in time, from the present to the day I started at UCLA.

The power of recapitulation, don Juan said, is that it stirs up all the rubbish of a person's life and brings it to the surface. Don Juan then described the subtleties of awareness and perception that are the basis of recapitulation. At the beginning he said that he would now introduce me to a system of concepts that I should by no means consider the theories of sorcerers, because this system was developed by the shamans of ancient Mexico as a result of a direct vision of the energy flowing in the universe. He warned me that he would introduce me to the parts of this system without making the slightest attempt to classify or rank them according to some pre-established standard.

I'm not interested in classifications, he continued. - You've classified everything all your life. Now you have to avoid classifications. Recently, when I asked you what you know about clouds, you told me the names of all the clouds and the percentage of humidity expected from each of them. You were a real meteorologist. But when I asked if you knew what you personally could do with these clouds, you had no idea what I was talking about. “Classifications have their own world,” he continued. - When you start to classify something, the classification comes to life and controls you. But since classifications were not created as energizing things, they always remain dead logs. These are not trees; it's just logs. He explained that the sorcerers of ancient Mexico saw that the entire universe was composed of energy fields in the form of luminous threads. Whichever way they looked, they saw myriads of these threads. They also saw that these energy fields are structured into streams of luminous fibers; streams that are the permanent, eternal forces of the universe, and that these magicians have called the stream or stream of threads related to recapitulation, the dark sea of awareness, or the Eagle. He said that even these sorcerers found out that every living being in the universe is attached to the dark sea of awareness by a circular spot of light that was noticeable when these beings were perceived as energy.

Don Juan said that in this spot of light, which the sorcerers of ancient Mexico called the assemblage point, perception gathers by building the aspect of the dark sea of awareness. Don Juan stated that at the assemblage point of man, myriads of energy fields from all over the universe converge and pass through it in the form of luminous threads. These energy fields are converted into sensory data, and the sensory data is then interpreted and perceived as the world we know. In addition, don Juan explained that it is the dark sea of awareness that turns the luminous threads into perceptible information. Sorcerers see this transformation and call it the glow of awareness - it is a radiance that spreads like a halo around the assemblage point. Here he warned me that he was about to say what the sorcerers thought was most important for understanding the scope of the recapitulation. Emphasizing his words in an unusual way, he said that what we call the senses of organisms are nothing but different degrees of awareness. He insisted that if we agree that our feelings are a dark sea of awareness, then we need to recognize that the interpretation that feelings create from sensory data is also a dark sea of awareness. He explained in detail that the way we encounter the world around us is the result of the human interpretation system that each person is equipped with. He also said that every living organism needs to have an interpretation system that allows it to function in its environment.

The sorcerers who emerged after the apocalyptic upheavals I told you about,” he continued, “saw that at the moment of death, the dark sea of awareness sucks, so to speak, through the assemblage point the awareness of living beings. They also saw that the dark sea of awareness wavered momentarily, so to speak, when it met with sorcerers who had completed the retelling of their lives. Without knowing it, some did it so thoroughly that the sea of awareness took their awareness in the form of their life experiences, but did not touch their life force. Magicians have discovered a colossal truth about the forces of the universe: the dark sea of awareness only needs our life experiences, not our life force. It was incomprehensible to me what don Juan proceeded from in his explanations. Or perhaps it would be more accurate to say that I knew vaguely, yet profoundly, how practical what he was proceeding from in his explanations.

Sorcerers believe, don Juan continued, that as we review our lives, all the rubbish, as I said, comes to the surface. We are aware of our contradictions, our repetitions, but something in us has great resistance to recapitulation. Magicians say that the road is free only after a colossal shock; after the memory of the event appears on the screen, which shakes our foundations with terrifying clarity of detail. This event truly drags us back to the very moment we experienced it. Sorcerers call this event a conduit because after it, every event we touch is re-experienced, not just remembered.

Walking always brings back memories, don Juan continued. - The magicians of ancient Mexico believed that we store everything that we experienced as sensations from the back of the legs. They considered the backs of the legs to be the storehouse of a person's personal history. So let's go through the hills now. We walked until it was almost dark. "I think I've kept you walking long enough," don Juan said when we returned to the house, "that you're ready to begin this maneuver of sorcerers to find a guide: an event in your life that you will remember with such clarity that it will serve spotlight to illuminate everything else in your recapitulation with equal or comparable clarity. Do what sorcerers call a recapitulation puzzle. Something will lead you to a memory of an event that will guide you. He left me alone with one final warning.
