We arrange word hyphens in MS Word. Changing the number of consecutive transfers

How to number pages in Word. If you create a large file in the Word text editor, thesis or coursework, then you simply cannot do without page numbering. We’ve already talked about that, but I somehow forgot about how to number pages in Word. It's okay, we'll fix it now. Better late than never. So…

For those who don’t know how to do this, I’ll show you using the Word 2010 text editor as an example. In Word 2007, the same operation is no different.

In order to put numbering on all pages automatically, you need to go to the tab Insert, go to block Headers and footers, and select the icon there Page number.

Click on the little black triangle on the right side of this icon. A list will open in which you need to select the item where exactly you want the page numbers to be displayed. I usually choose At the bottom of the page. But no matter which item you select, another list will open with visual images of the numbering location.

Choose what suits you. All lists will immediately disappear, and you will be redirected to the footer with the page number.

Now you will have page numbering on all pages in order of priority. Thus, you can add numbering from any page. All the same, numbers will be placed on all pages, starting from the first. Even if you then add text on several more pages, in the middle or at the end of the document, the numbering will automatically continue.

You can directly in the constructor add the word “ Page no.”, then “Page No. n” will be written on all pages, where n is the number of each page. This is how you can quickly number a document of at least 200 or a thousand pages.

If you are interested in this issue, let's start looking into it. Hyphenation in Word 2007 and Word 2010 is a simple topic, so we will do it quickly.

In MS Word's default settings, if a word does not fit on a given line, it is automatically moved to the next one. As a result, there is a lot of empty space left at the end of the line, and if the text is justified, large spaces may appear in the text. By following the link, you can read an article on how to remove them.

Word hyphenation in Word can either be disabled altogether, or you can configure automatic or manual hyphenation.

You can manually hyphenate only previously typed text.

Handles

Let's first hyphenate the text manually. To do this, open required document, then go to the tab "Page layout" and click on the button "Hyphenation". Select "Manual" from the menu.

A dialog box will open. In it, the word in the text that needs to be transferred will be divided into syllables. Place the cursor in the place you want to transfer and click “Yes”.

Automatic transfers

It's even easier. At the same time, Word itself decides how to arrange them in the document. To do this from the menu "Hyphenation" select "Auto".

Removing the transfer

If you have strict requirements for document formatting, then you may need to remove word hyphenation in Word. To do this from the menu "Hyphenation" select "No".

Let's assume that you have hyphenated words in each line of one paragraph. According to the text, it may not look very nice, or it may not suit you.

In this case, in the menu "Hyphenation" choose "Hyphenation Options". The following window will appear. In field "Max. number of consecutive transfers" install desired value and click "OK".

Sometimes it happens that at the end of a line there is a word that is written with a hyphen. In this case, Word automatically moves the part of the word after the hyphen to another line. To avoid this, insert a non-breaking hyphen using the key combination Ctrl+Shift+Hyphen.

We'll leave it at that. Now you know how to do manual and automatic word wrapping in Word.

In order for a document to comply with accepted standards or simply look more attractive, it is not enough to simply enter text; you must make sure that it is formatted correctly. Microsoft Office Word and Microsoft Office Excel may have certain default settings for text wrapping. If you do not need this option, word wrapping can be disabled.

Instructions

In a Microsoft Office Word document, text wrapping can be configured for words within and for syllables within a word. Tools for managing hyphens are located in the Paragraph dialog box and the Hyphenation window. They are called differently.

To open the Paragraph dialog box, go to the Home tab and in the Paragraph field, click the arrow button. In the window that opens, go to the “Page Position” tab and place a marker in the field opposite the “Prohibit automatic word hyphenation” item in the “Format exceptions” section.

You can also open the “Paragraph” window in another way: select a fragment of text that you want to change, or the entire text and right-click in the document. From the drop-down menu, select Paragraph. Repeat the steps described in the second step, apply the new settings by clicking the OK button in the lower right corner of the window.

To prevent automatic word hyphenation, go to the “Page Layout” tab, in the “Page Options” section, left-click on the “Hyphenation” inscription. In the drop-down menu, select the marker next to “No”. To set your parameters, select “Hyphenation Options”. If you select a piece of text before editing, the changes will affect only that portion. If you don't select text, the changes will be applied to the entire document.

To ensure that text looks organically in the cells of a Microsoft Office Excel document, you usually set the appropriate settings for the cells. To cancel word wrapping in a cell, place the mouse cursor in the cell you need and right-click on it. Select Format Cells from the drop-down menu. In the window that opens, go to the “Alignment” tab and uncheck the “Word Wrap” field in the “Display” section. Click OK for the new settings to take effect.

IN " Width of word hyphen zone» sets the distance from the edge of the transferred word warehouse to the page frame.

« Max. number…» will limit the number of repeated cases of word wrapping for a selected fragment or the entire document.

In order to remove hyphens, it is necessary in the paragraph “ Hyphenation» select option « No».

Or, with the display mode for all symbols activated, remove those entered manually. If there were too many of them, you can use the “Replace” function, which is called by the F5 button.

In the Replace tab, click " More>>» -> « Special", select " Soft transfer" and replace it with an empty string, without a space.

Auto-hyphenation is also available for Word 2003. It is installed at the address " Service» -> « Language» -> « Hyphenation».
