patience in our lives. Patience is an important quality of every person. Where to "gather" patience and who needs it? The absence of trouble is a cause for concern

Praise be to Allah - the Lord of the worlds, peace and blessings of Allah be upon our Prophet Muhammad, members of his family and all his companions!

Patience ( saber) is one of those good qualities that Allah encouraged to observe in His great Book and His Messenger (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) in his Sunnah. Word saber has been mentioned in the Qur'an one hundred and four times for various reasons and conditions.

Allah Almighty ordered His Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) to be patient, saying:

“Therefore be patient, for your patience is only from Allah…”(An-Nahl, 16:127).

“Be patient, as the envoys of strong spirit endured…”(Al-Ahkaf, 46:35).

Similarly, Allah Almighty ordered the believers to be patient. He said:

“O you who believe! Be patient, stock up on patience, serve in the outposts and fear Allah, so that you may succeed ”(Ali Imran, 3: 200).

Allah Almighty said, praising the patient:

“But the pious one is ... who showed patience in need, in illness and during battle. These are the ones that are true. Such are the God-fearing” (Al-Baqara, 2:177).

He is Holy and Mighty, noted that he loves the patient and helps them:

"Allah loves the patient"(Ali Imran, 3:146).

(Al-Anfal, 8:46).

Also, Allah Almighty noted that the manifestation of patience is better for the one who shows it:

“But if you show patience, then it will be better for the patient”(An-Nahl, 16:126).

Also, Allah Almighty promised the patient a reward that will be better and will exceed the reward for their deeds. He said:

“And to those who showed patience, We will surely reward the best of what they did”(An-Nahl, 16:96).

“Verily, to those who are patient, their reward will be fully rewarded without any account.”(Az-Zumar, 39:10).

In the same way, Allah Almighty pleases those who are patient, saying:

"Rejoice those who are patient ( who show patience in trials (Al-Baqara, 2:155).

Similarly, Allah Almighty says about rewarding the patient with Paradise:

“And for the fact that they showed patience, He will reward them with Gardens of Eden and silks”(Al-Insan, 76:12).

Allah Almighty has mentioned patience along with other great deeds of religion. From what was mentioned along with patience, we learn from the Quran:

  • Belief ( yakin)

“We created among them leaders who led the rest at Our command to the straight path, because they were patient and confidently believed in Our signs” (As-Sajda, 32:24).

  • Hope ( tawakkul)

“Those who believed and did righteous deeds, We will certainly settle in the upper rooms in Paradise, in which rivers flow. They will be there forever. How wonderful is the reward of the laborers who have been patient and trusted in their Lord!” (Al-Ankabut, 29:58-59).

  • Prayer ( salat)

“O you who believe! Seek patience and prayer for help. Indeed, Allah is with those who are patient.”(Al-Baqara, 2:153).

  • piety ( takua)

“But if you are patient and God-fearing, then their wiles will not cause you any harm. Verily, Allah encompasses all that they do” (Ali Imran, 3:120).

“But if you are patient and God-fearing, then in these matters it is necessary to show determination”(Ali Imran, 3:186).

“Indeed, if anyone is God-fearing and patient, then surely Allah does not lose the reward of those who do good.”(Yusuf, 12:90).

  • righteous deeds

“And only those who endured and did good deeds are forgiven and have a great reward”(Hood 11:11).

  • Jihad

“Verily, your Lord after all this forgives and has mercy on those who migrated after being subjected to temptation, and then fought and showed patience” (An-Nahl, 16:110).

“We will certainly put you to the test until we recognize those of you who fight and show patience, and until we verify your news” (Muhammad, 47:31).

  • Turning to Allah for forgiveness istighfar) and remembrance of Allah ( tasbih)

“Be patient, for the promise of Allah is true. Ask forgiveness for your sin and glorify the praise of your Lord in the afternoon and in the morning” (Al-Mu'min, 40:55).

“Be patient until the decision of your Lord, because you are in Our Eyes. Glorify with the praise of your Lord when you rise from sleep ”(At-Tur, 52:48).

“Therefore be patient with what they ( polytheists) they say, and glorify the praise of your Lord before sunrise and before sunset, glorify him during the night, as well as at the beginning and end of the day. Perhaps you will be satisfied"(Ta Ha, 20:130) .

  • true( haqq)

“I swear by the evening time that people suffer losses, except for those who believe, do righteous deeds, command each other the truth and command each other patience!” (Al-Asr, 103:1-3) .

  • Mercy ( rahma)

“And after that, one must be one of those who believe and command each other patience and command each other mercy” (Al-Balad, 90:17).

  • Gratitude ( shukr)

(Ibrahim, 14:5).

The presence in the Holy Quran and the Sunnah of verses and hadiths telling about the virtue of patience indicates the importance and greatness of this quality. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) encouraged his community to this good morality. His life is an example of this high morality. Whoever begins to study his life and Sunnah, personally make sure that truly patience has a high position.

Dr. Muhammad ibn Khalifa

With the name of Allah the Merciful, the Merciful

Sheikhulislam Taqiyuddin Abul Abbas Ahmad Ibn Taymiyyah said:

Almighty and Almighty Allah divided His slaves into classes, and made some classes higher than others. Therefore, even when believers experience joy and trouble, they are in the good of their Lord. In the same way, Allah Almighty made His predestination for them a profitable trade and a path leading to the truth. As the imam of the believers (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said in a reliable tradition: “ How amazing is the position of the believer. Truly all his works are amazing. Allah has not ordained anything for him that is not good. When joy overtakes him, he thanks Allah and it turns out to be good for him. When trouble befalls him, he shows patience and this also turns out to be good for him. ».

This hadeeth covers all predestination ( qadar), which was determined for the believer by Allah Almighty. Since if he begins to thank Allah for the good that has befallen him and begins to show patience during the troubles that befall him, then the predestination of Allah will always turn out to be good for him. It is also an act of iman (faith). As some of the Salaf said: “Iman consists of two parts. One part is gratitude (shukr) and the other part is patience (sabr).”. Allah Almighty said: “Verily, in this are signs for everyone who is patient and grateful.”(Ibrahim, 14:5; Luqman, 31:19; Saba, 34:19; ash-Shura, 42:33).

If you pay attention to all areas of religion, it is not difficult to make sure that all of it is built on patience and gratitude. This is because patience is of three kinds:

First view. The manifestation of patience in matters of submission to Allah. Since there is no such deed, by committing which a person would not fight and show patience in relation to his external and internal enemies. And it is enough for a person to be patient in committing as obligatory ( wajib) and desirable ( mustahabb) deeds.

Second kind. Showing patience in a forbidden matter. Truly the human soul, its passions, shaitan embellishing (sins) and bad comrades, push a person to disobedience and sins. In order to leave it, a person needs to show strong patience. Some salafs said: “Doing good deeds is characteristic of both good and bad people. However, the remission of sins is peculiar only to the truthful (siddikin) ”.

Third kind. The manifestation of patience when a person suffers misfortunes that do not depend on him. Misfortune (trouble) are of two types:

1. These are diseases and similar heavenly misfortunes that are not in the power of creatures..

Patience with this type of misfortune is the easiest, as the slave becomes a witness that all this has befallen him according to the predestination of Allah and that His creations are not able to interfere with it. Therefore, he endures either of his own free will or by force. If Allah helps the slave and instills in his heart the knowledge of the benefits derived from the misfortunes that have befallen him, as well as that this will bring him forgiveness and good, then the slave, showing patience, will move on to the next stage, and this is gratitude to Allah and contentment ( own position). In this position, the misfortune that befell him will turn into a blessing for him, and he will begin to speak from the heart: “ O Lord, help me to remember You, thank You and worship You in the best possible way!". This increases and decreases depending on the level of the slave's faith. We can also observe this in the words of people. As the poet said about this, referring to his beloved who caused him suffering:

You remember me with an unkind word and it's sad for me,

However (albeit with unkind words) you remember, and this pleases me. See Ad-Divaru by Ibn ad-Dumaminah, with commentary by Ahmad Ratib al-Naffah p. 17.

2. Misfortunes befalling a slave due to human deeds.

This can happen by encroaching on the life, property and honor of a person. It is very difficult to show patience with this type of misfortune, since the human soul feels its humiliation and does not want to come to terms with it, and therefore it strives for revenge. To be patient with this kind of affliction is characteristic of prophets and truthful men. When the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) suffered, he said: “May Allah have mercy on Musa. They caused him more suffering, and he showed patience. ” Narrated by al-Bukhari in "as-Sahih" in the book "Tales of the Prophets" chapter 28, hadith 3405; Muslim also narrated in "al-Sahih" in the book "Zakat" the chapter on "Softening of hearts" 3/109.

He (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) also said that one of the prophets who was beaten by people from his people said: "O Allah forgive my people, verily they do not know" Narrated by al-Bukhari in "as-Sahih" in the book "Tales of the Prophets" chapter 56, hadith 3477; Muslim also narrated in "al-Sahih" in the book "Jihad" the chapter on "The Battle of Uhud" 5/179.

It is also reported that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) also said this when people from his people caused him suffering. In this plea, he touched on three issues at the same time: forgiveness, asking for forgiveness for them and justifying them, by their ignorance. This kind of patience has led to victory, greatness, joy, peace, strength, love for Allah, increased knowledge and love of people towards him. Allah Almighty said: “We created among them leaders who led the rest according to Our command to the straight path, because they were patient and confidently believed in Our signs” (As-Sajda, 32:24).

A person becomes an imam in religion only with the help of patience and conviction. And when unshakable conviction and faith are added to this patience, the slave rises to a high position by the grace of Allah. This is the mercy that Allah bestows from among His servants to whom He wills. Indeed, Allah is the possessor of great mercy.

For this reason, Allah Almighty said: “Good and evil are not equal. Repel evil with what is better, and then the one with whom you are at enmity will become for you like a close loving relative. But it will not be granted to anyone except those who show patience, and it will not be granted to anyone except those who have a great share ”(Al-Fussilat, 41: 34-35).

To repel evil with good is possible only through forgiveness and other similar righteous deeds. And the great share is Paradise.

There are a number of reasons that help a person achieve this patience. From this:

First. Testify that all deeds, will, movements and peace of slaves are created by Allah; only what Allah willed happens, and what He did not want not to happen. There is not even the smallest particle either at a height or at a depth that would make movements without the will of Allah. People are just moving. Therefore, do not look at who the people who bring down troubles on you are, but look at who sends these troubles. Only in this case will you free yourself from sadness, grief and anxiety.

Second. This is the recognition of one's sins and the knowledge that these troubles were sent by Allah in return for the sins he committed. Allah Almighty said: “Any calamity befalls you only for what your hands have gained, and He forgives you much”(Ash-Shura, 42:30). If a person realizes that the troubles that befell him befell him because of his own sins, then he will stop judging people and turn to Allah for forgiveness and repentance. If you see a person who scolds and condemns people for suffering caused to him, but does not criticize himself and does not ask for forgiveness, then know that his misfortune is true. However, if he begins to ask for forgiveness and condemn himself, then this misfortune will turn out to be good for him.

Ali bin Abu Talib said his famous words: “A slave should not ask anyone other than his Lord and not be afraid of anything except his own sins” Narrated by al-Bayhaqi, in Shuabul iman, 7/122, 9718; al-Asbahani in "at-Targhib wa at-tarhib" 2/266, 1586; Shit AbdulBarr in Jamiu bayanil ilm wa fadlich 1/383, 547-548.

It is also narrated from Ali and other salafs: “Misfortunes come only with sins and go away only with the help of repentance”.

Third. The knowledge of the slave that Allah brings about a good end for those who forgive and show patience. Allah Almighty said: “The reward for evil is equal evil. But whoever forgives and establishes peace, then his reward will be with Allah. Verily, He does not love the wicked” (Ash-Shura, 42:40).

People, regarding the misfortunes that befall them, are divided into three groups:

  1. Those who take more than they are entitled to, that is, the lawless ( flood);
  2. Those who take as much as they are supposed to. These are fair people muktasid);
  3. Those who leave their rights and forgive. These are sincere people muhsin).

In the above verse, all these three categories of people are mentioned. The beginning of this verse refers to the just ( muktasid, the middle of sincere ( muhsin), and the end of the wicked ( flood).

The herald will call on the Day of Retribution: “Let those stand up whose reward Allah has made obligatory upon Himself!” and after this call, only people who forgive and reconcile (people) will rise. . When a person realizes how much reward he can lose if he takes revenge, then it becomes easier for him to forgive and show patience.

Fourth. If the slave forgives and does good, then this act of his will allow him not to build bad assumptions about his Muslim brothers, not to deceive, not to take revenge, and also will allow him to avoid evil and rancor. Thus, by forgiving people, he will receive benefits in both worlds, which many times exceed the benefits for revenge, and by this he will know the sweetness of forgiveness and will be among the beloved servants of Allah, about whom the Almighty said: "Verily, Allah loves those who do good"(Ali Imran, 3:134). His position is similar to the position of one who, having given a few dirhams (silver), will receive back several thousand dinars (gold) . Indeed, a person who has achieved this will be infinitely happy with the blessing that Allah Almighty has given him. .

Fifth. The knowledge that the one who takes revenge not for the sake of Allah, but for his own sake will be humiliated, and the one who forgives, Allah Almighty will exalt. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "Indeed, Allah will increase the forgiving slave only his greatness" Narrated by Muslim in "as-Sahih" in the book "Adab, beneficence and family ties" in the chapter "The Desirability of Forgiveness" 8/20. The greatness that a slave achieves because of forgiveness is much better and more beloved for him than the greatness that he achieves because of revenge. Because the greatness that he will achieve because of revenge is external greatness, but internally it is a shame. However, forgiveness, although it is an external shame, it bestows both external and internal greatness.

The sixth and one of the most important benefits to be derived. The knowledge that the prescribed punishment or reward depends on the type of action performed, as well as the knowledge of one's injustice and sinfulness. If a slave begins to forgive people, then Allah will forgive him, if he has mercy, then Allah will have mercy on him. If a slave realizes that forgiveness and showing kindness towards those who harm him is the reason for the reward of Allah, then it will become easier for him to forgive people and show patience. This benefit is sufficient for those who have intelligence.

Seventh. Knowing that a person who takes revenge and demands retribution for the injustice done to him is wasting his time, thinking only about this (moves away from worship) and loses benefits that he will not be able to return. Perhaps this is much more than the misfortune that befell him. However, if he forgives and has mercy, then both his heart and his body will use the time allotted for them and do more useful things than revenge.

Eighth. If a slave begins to take revenge only for his own sake, then let him know that the prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) never took revenge for himself, while the suffering inflicted on him was related to religion and was committed against Allah, and he is the best and beloved to Allah of all his creatures. Despite the fact that the prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) was the most honorable, the best, far from all immorality, the owner of an excellent disposition, he did not do this for himself. And how then can we do this, knowing about our shortcomings and sins. On the contrary, a reasonable person will never evaluate his passions so highly that he would take revenge for this. And for such a person, his passions do not constitute a value at the level of revenge.

Ninth. If a person suffers because of those deeds that he did for the sake of the pleasure of Allah, that is, he encouraged him to do what was good and withheld from what was blamed, then the manifestation of patience is obligatory for him. Therefore, he should not take revenge, since he suffered for the sake of charitable deeds and his reward will be with Allah Almighty. Therefore, people who lost their lives and property during jihad in the path of Allah did not lose them. Allah bought their lives and property from them, and the price for this was set not by people, but by Allah Almighty himself. Whoever demands a price for it from people, he will lose the price from Allah, since he who spends something in the way of Allah will receive a reward from Allah in return.

If a person has suffered for his disobedience to Allah, let him condemn only himself. If he begins to condemn himself for the sins he has committed, then he will not need to condemn others.

He who befalls misfortune at the time when he was striving to acquire something, let him be patient. Because not getting what he aspired to is a greater grief than showing patience. He who, while traveling, does not show patience with the midday heat, rain, snow, difficulties of the way, robbers, then he does not need markets (that is, he is not capable of worldly affairs). All people know that in order to get what a person longs for, he needs to be patient until he gets it.

Tenth. With the manifestation of patience, the knowledge of the slave that Allah is with him, loves and is pleased with him; if Allah is with a slave, then he will take away from him all the evil and all the troubles that people cannot take away from him. Allah Almighty said: "Be patient, for Allah is with the patient"(Al-Anfal, 8:46). "Allah loves the patient"(Ali Imran, 3:146).

Eleventh. Knowing that patience is half faith iman). A person who realizes this will never prefer his passions to even a part of his faith. Indeed, patience keeps a person's faith and protects him from shortcomings. Allah Almighty protects the believers.

Twelfth. The knowledge that patience is able to rule over the passions of the soul and overcome them. And a person who humiliates his passions and conquers them will not be in the power of his soul, and then it will not lead him to death. If he becomes obedient to her, then she will destroy him. And he can avoid this fate only by the grace of his Lord.

The manifestation of patience and the superiority of a person over his soul and shaitan is enough for a person’s heart to be established and so that he can repel his enemy.

Thirteenth. Knowing that Allah helps the patient. Indeed, Allah is the patron of the patient and those who leave the wrongdoers to Allah. The one who wants to win his own nafs, Allah will turn him into a slave of his own soul and make him its helper. And what will be the position of that person who, having lost the help of Allah, and began to cooperate with his helpless and weak soul?!

Fourteenth. A person who is patient with those people who cause him suffering, as well as with suffering itself, can cause these people to repent of their deeds, return to the truth, ask for forgiveness, be criticized by people and thereby be ashamed of their own actions. actions, and then it will lead them to friendship with that person. Almighty Allah said on this occasion: “Repel evil with what is better, and then the one with whom you are at enmity will become for you like a close loving relative. But it will not be granted to anyone except those who show patience, and it will not be granted to anyone except those who have a great share ”(Al-Fussilat, 41: 34-35).

The fifteenth. It is possible that the revenge of a person will lead him to the fact that the evil and suffering caused to him by the lawless one will increase. But if he shows patience and forgives, he will be protected from this evil. A reasonable person will not choose from two evil deeds the one that will bring more evil. How many people wanted to take revenge and prevent turmoil, but could not achieve this. Many people have lost their lives, power and property along the way. But if the oppressed had forgiven, then what had befallen him would not have befallen him.

Sixteenth. He who begins to take revenge without showing patience will be among the unjust. This happens for the reason that when a person is seized by a thirst for revenge, he submits to the passions of his soul, which goes beyond the boundaries of what is permitted and therefore a person becomes angry and loses control over his words and actions. If before that he was oppressed, who was waiting for help from others, now he will turn into a lawless person, under the influence of anger and a thirst for punishment.

Seventeenth. The suffering inflicted on a person contributes to the forgiveness of his sins and the increase of his degree. If he begins to take revenge, leaving patience, he will not achieve the forgiveness of sins and will not raise his degree.

Eighteenth. Patience and forgiveness is the most powerful weapon of man against his enemy. The one who will show patience and forgiveness will thereby become the cause of humiliation, shame, fear that will befall this enemy. This is because even if he becomes silent about the injustices caused to him, then people will not do this (i.e., they will not show indifference). But in the case of revenge, this will not happen. Therefore, you see that people are trying to take revenge on the one who causes them suffering, and scold him, as if by doing this, the burden leaves their shoulders, and they find peace.

Nineteenth. If a person forgives his enemy (who causes him suffering), then the enemy will find his degree higher than his own, feel his victory and his weakness. And this is enough for the forgiver, as a proof of his dignity and superiority.

Twentieth. Forgiveness is a blessing hasanat). One good deed gives rise to another, and another to a third, and thus they increase. The reward for a good deed is another good deed. In the same way, the reward for an atrocity is another atrocity. It is possible that this act will lead him to salvation and happiness. But if he begins to take revenge, he will lose this good.

As for the second part of religion, it is gratitude ( shukr). Gratitude is submission to Allah Almighty.

Here we come to an end by the grace of Allah. Praise be to Him much. Peace and blessings be upon our Prophet Muhammad and his family.

These introductory words are called "Khutbatul-Hajja". The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) taught this to his companions and himself pronounced it before Friday and other sermons, as well as marriage (nikah). The message about the khutbatul-hajj is transmitted from six companions, and all these versions reinforce each other, and therefore the reliability of this hadith was confirmed by many imams, including at-Tirmidhi, an-Nawawi, Ibn Taymiyyah, al-Albani, etc. See "Khutbatul-hajja" of Sheikh al-Albani.

On the Day of Retribution, everyone will be gathered with their Imams, and the believers will be with him. This was narrated from al-Khatib from Anas to Tarikh al-Baghdad. He said about the 71 verses of Surah al-Isra: On that day We will call all the people together with their leaders.”- "... this means they will be called with their prophets." Imam al-Suyuti in "Durrul Mansur" (5/316) noted that this tradition was transmitted by Ibn Abu Hatim and Ibn Mardaveyh. The same was narrated from Mujhid. This was narrated by Ibn Jarir in his tafsir (15/126) and by al-Suyuti in Durrul Mansur from Ibn Munzir.

Narrated Imam Muslim "Kitab az-zuhd" in the chapter "All the deeds of a believer are good" 8/227; imam Ahmad in "Musnad", 1/173 and ad-Darimi in "Sunan" book "ar-Raqaik" chapter "For every deed the believer receives a reward" 2/318. The text of the hadith is narrated as follows: How amazing is the position of the believer. Truly, all his deeds turn out to be good for him ... ". However, to find this hadeeth as it was cited by the author with the words: “... all his works are amazing" I did not succeed.

Narrated by Waqi bin Jarrah in al-Zuhd, 2/456, hadith 203; at-Tabarani in al-Kabir, 9/107; al-Munziri in "at-Targhib wa at-tarhib", 4/171, hadith 4974 from ibn Masud in the form: "Patience is half of faith, and conviction is all faith." Also, Imam al-Bukhari in “as-Sahih” the book of Faith in the chapter on the words of the prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) “Islam is based on five pillars” from Ibn Masud with the words “Conviction is all faith.” Sheikh al-Albani in "Silsila al-hadith ad-daif" 1/506-507, hadith 499 said that this hadeeth is munkar. He said: this hadith is authentic like the words of Ibn Masud, but weak like the words of the prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him). This is also indicated by the words of Sheikh-ul-Islam Ibn Taymiyyah: “Some salafs spoke about this.”

Abu Nuaym "Hilyatul awliya" 10/197 transmitted from Sahl ibn Abdullah at-Tusturi in the following form: “Allah will love a slave not only for obeying him, but also for observing His prohibitions. Only the truthful, who are close to Allah, are able to avoid sins. And good deeds are characteristic of both good and bad people..

The author points to the hadith reported by Muadh ibn Jabal. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) took him by the hand and said: “Oh Muaz! I swear by Allah I love you." Then he said: “Oh Muaz! Read after each prayer: “O Lord, help me to remember You, thank You and worship You in the best way!” This hadith was narrated by Abu Dawud in as-Sunan in the book "Prayer of Witr" in the chapter "Istighfar" 2/181, hadith, 1522; also an-Nasai in "as-Sunan", in the book "Sahw" in the chapter "Another Kind of Supplication" 3/53; Imam Ahmad in Musnad 5/245-247.

Abdullah ibn Masud said: When the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) in al-Jarand distributed spoils after the battle of Hunayn, people began to flock to him. Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: “Allah sent one of his slaves to his tribe as a prophet. His tribe beat and wounded him. He, wiping the blood from his forehead, said: "Oh Lord, forgive my people, truly they do not know." Abdullah ibn Masud said: “I still seem to see how the prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) wiping the blood from his forehead, talks about this man and says: “O my Lord! Forgive my people, for they don't know." This hadith was narrated by Ahmad in Musnad 7/378, hadith 4366. The scholar of this work said that this hadith is sahih-ligeyrihi.

Az-Zubayr ibn Bakkar in al-Ansab conveys part of the prayer for rain, which was said by Abbas at the request of Umar, may Allah be pleased with both of them: “O Allah, troubles come only because of sins and go away only through repentance.”. (Ibn Hajar reported that this message was narrated in al-Ansab, but we could not find it there.) Abu Bakr Ahmad bin Marwan ad-Daynuri (d. 333 AH) in the work "al-Mujalasa wa javahirul ilm" (3/102-103) gives in the form maukuf(i.e. as the words of Abbas himself) part of the prayer for the sending down of rain uttered by Abbas at the request of Umar, may Allah be pleased with both of them: “O Allah, indeed, troubles are sent down from heaven only because of sins and go away through repentance.”. It was also conveyed by Ibn Asakir in "Tariha Dimashk" (26/358-359, p. 184 in the biography of Ubad bin Afwa - Abdullah bin Sauban) through Tariq Abu Salih Bazim and that one from Ibn Khani and that one from Abbas ibn Abdul Mutalib. There is no such message in al-Sahih al-Bukhari. It is reported in the work "al-Fatah" 2/494 in the book on "Prayer for sending rain" in the chapter "On turning people to the leader during a drought to pray for rain." However, the type of prayer and details about it are not given here. See also "Iktidaus syratal mustakim" 337-338.

Ibn Mardawayh narrates from Ibn Abbas that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “On the Day of Retribution, Allah will order the herald to say: “Let those stand up whose reward Allah has made obligatory for Himself!” and only those who forgave and reconciled people in this world will stand up" . Allah Almighty said: But whoever forgives and establishes peace, then his reward will be with Allah.” This hadith was narrated by as-Suyuti in ad-Durrul mansur, 6/11; Khatib al-Baghdadi in Tarikh Baghdad, 11/198; Ibn Hibban in Raudatul Uqal, pp. 176-177; al-Bayhaqi in "Shuab al-iman" from Hassan al-Basri in uniform mursal(as the words of Hassan al-Basri) with a complete chain; Hammad bin as-Sari in "al-Zuhd" 2/904 and Abu Nuaym in "al-Hilya" 9/204 from Hassan al-Basri in uniform maukuf(as his words).

See “as-Sahih” by Imam al-Bukhari, the book “Dignities”, the chapter “The Qualities of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him)”, hadith 3560. (“Fathul-bari”, 6/566); “as-Sahih” by Imam Muslim, the book “Dignities”, the chapter “The abstinence of the prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) from committing sins” hadiths, 2327, 2328.

Narrated by Abu Yala in Musnad 4/36, had. 2040 from Bishr bin al-Walid al-Kindi, he is from al-Musawwir bin as-Salt, he is from Muhammad bin Munkadir, and he is from Jabir, that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “Every good deed is a sadaqah. And what a person spends on his family and from his property is also recorded for him as saadaq. Also, what he spends to defend his honor will be saadaq for him. Allah undertakes to pay the believer all his expenses, except for the expenses for construction (houses, buildings) and expenses for committing disobedience to Him. . Imam al-Haysami in Majmu al-Zawaid 3/136 said about this hadith: “In the chain transmitted by Abu Yala, the transmitter named Musawvir bin Salt is weak.” Likewise ad-Darakutni in Sunan 3/28, had. 101 and al-Hakim in al-Mustadrak 2/50, both of them narrated this hadith from Abdulhamid bin al-Hilali, and he from Muhammad bin Munkadir. Then al-Hakim said about this hadith: “This is an authentic hadith. However, two imams (al-Bukhari and Muslim) did not transmit it in their writings. It is not in accordance with the conditions of this book to collect these meaningful hadeeths.” Imam al-Dhahabi objected to him and said: "On the contrary, they said that this hadeeth is weak."

See al-Hashiya, 2.

And in conclusion, praise be to Allah - the Lord of the worlds!

Translation by Abu Imran as-Salafi

(An-Nahl, 16:110) .

ﷺ was asked what iman is, he sometimes simply summarized: "Iman is patience" . In another hadith, the Prophet ﷺ said: “Patience for iman is as important as the head for the body, and if patience leaves, so does iman” .

The lexical meaning of the word "patience" is retention. The Almighty says in the Quran (meaning): “And keep yourself together with those who turn, cry out to Allah with supplications in the morning and evening, striving for the pleasure of Allah. Do not take your eyes off these people, desiring the delights of this world, and do not obey the one whose heart We have made distracted from Our remembrance, do not be with those who prefer to follow their passions. (Sura Al-Kahf, verse 28).

Many today endure for some reason, out of fear of someone or something, for the sake of personal goals, for the sake of someone. But the Almighty does not call us to such patience. The Almighty speaks in the Quran about those people who endured for the sake of Almighty Allah, performed namaz, spent from what Allah rewarded them - secretly and openly, responded to evil with good.

Please note that all our worship is related to patience. It takes patience to perform prayer five times a day, and therefore, probably, many, due to its absence, do not perform prayer. They do not have the patience to perform ablution five times a day and stand before the Almighty; they don't fast because they don't want to feel hungry. Patience is also needed when performing rites of pilgrimage - Hajj, when issuing zakat. Good disposition, to which the Prophet ﷺ and the Qur'an call us, is associated with patience. To be generous, one must endure; to be brave, bold in truth, one must endure.

Do other creatures besides man need patience?

Angels do not need patience, because they are created only for worship, they are pure in mind, not for a moment distracted from the remembrance of the Lord. Animals also lack patience, as they follow their passions, instincts. And only man, this is his amazing feature, is between two forces that always pull us in one of the two directions. We are created from the intelligence that angels are endowed with, and from the lust and passion that animals are endowed with. Passions pull us to the earth, to the satisfaction of our needs, and the mind - to the knowledge of the Creator, to wisdom, to gaining knowledge.

Man is endowed with the freedom to choose between them. A believer (mu'min) always endures everything and does what leads to the pleasure of God. This is how our nature is arranged: our soul requires the remembrance of the Lord, requires love, dialogue with Him. The Creator in the Qur'an, literally in three verses, speaks of how we can enter Paradise (meaning): "Allah gave them Paradise for what they endured" . The second verse says (meaning): “The inhabitants of Paradise, those who are destined for Paradise, will receive a reward from Allah Almighty - palaces in Paradise - for having endured, and they will only hear greetings from others there” . The third verse says (meaning): “Peace be upon you who enter Paradise with what you endured, and how beautiful is this last abode!” May Allah let us hear these words on the Day of Judgment! Amine.

But before you hear them, in this world you have to endure a lot. Allah says (meaning): “Indeed, man is created impatient. When some trouble touches him, he immediately shows intolerance. And when there is good, he immediately becomes greedy, except for those who perform prayer. .

The best kind of patience is when a person can punish the one who was unfair to him, but for the sake of Allah, he shows patience and forgives. That is why the Prophet ﷺ said: “My favorite sip is a sip of patience, when I restrain my anger, and no matter what servant of Allah restrains his anger, the Almighty will certainly fill his heart with faith (iman)” .

One of the fruits of patience is success, and in this regard, even unbelievers, atheists, show patience. One very great inventor was asked how he achieved such heights in science. He replied: "99 parts out of 100 I gave to work, it was patience, and some part was inspiration."

By being patient, we improve our disposition. And as you know, the true adornment of a person is not a bright appearance, but a good disposition.

Patience is a quality of a strong and morally stable person. Because it is difficult to restrain yourself in the most emotional moments of life during a period of anger, or a nervous breakdown. But the rewards and degrees of those who are patient are exalted according to the difficulties of restraining oneself, and Allah speaks in many places about patient people, praising them.

Imam Ahmad said about the number of mentions of the patient:

الصبر في القرآن في نحو تسعين موضع

«[ On virtue] Patience is mentioned in ninety places in the Qur'an". So, ninety times the Almighty praised this quality in the Qur'an. Here is one of the many verses where Allah says:

إِنَّ اللَّهَ مَعَ الصَّابِرِينَ

Meaning: " Indeed, Allah is with those who are patient "(Al-Baqarah, verse 153). Patience, especially in the face of adversity, is a rewarding business. In this regard, Allah says in another verse:

فاصبر إن وعد الله حق

Meaning: " Show patience (i.e. steadfastness) and Allah will give you the promised (i.e. reward) ».

Allah Almighty also says:

وإن تصبروا وتتقوا لا يضركم كيدهم شيئاً

Meaning: " If you show patience and piety, you will not be harmed by their (hypocrites) intrigues "("Alu Imran", ayat 120).

Sufyan as-Sawri (may Allah be pleased with him) noted:

بالصبر واليقين تنال الإمامة في الدين

« By patience and firm knowledge, leadership in religion is achieved (a person succeeds in this world and in the eternal world) ».

There are a lot of hadiths about patience and perseverance, and it is impossible to quote all of them.

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:

والصبر ضياءً

« Patience is the light (that will illuminate his grave) (cited by Imam Mus-lim from Abu Malik al-Ashari). The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) also said:

ومن يتصبر يصبره الله ، وما أعطى الله أحداً عطاءً هو خير وأوسع من الصبر

« Whoever tries to be patient, Allah will give him (patience), and there is nothing better from the gifts of Allah than patience ».

There are a lot of such sayings, and there is no need to list them all.

The conviction that a person who has suffered grief should have

Not a single person, including the Messengers and Prophets (peace and blessings be upon them), is immune from disasters and trials from Allah, a couple, on the contrary, the latter are tested more strongly, as an example for ordinary people.

This means that the believer must have the conviction that the Almighty sends troubles and difficulties and only He will deliver him from them, as Almighty Allah Himself said:

ما أصاب من مصيبة إلا بإذن الله

Meaning: " Trouble does not overtake except by the will of Allah ” (“at-Tagabun”, verse 11). Whatever happens, first of all, a person must be convinced that everything is from Allah, and therefore, as soon as Allah sends down and removes troubles, therefore, you also need to rely only on Him.

Knowing that all troubles are the decision of Allah, one cannot be dissatisfied with His decisions. From all His decisions there is a benefit for the slaves, for Allah is just and does not oppress them, He Himself forbade the oppression of His slaves.

One of the wisdoms - Allah, of course, knows better - sending down troubles is that Allah sends down troubles to wash away the sins of His slaves, and if the slaves are clean, then troubles are sent down to raise degrees. Because the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said:

إن الرجل لتكون له المنزلة عند الله فما يبلغها بعمل ، فما يزال يبتليه بما يكره حتى يبلغه ذلك

« Verily, a person who has been afflicted by calamity and has shown patience will rise in ranks that he cannot achieve simply by good deeds. (Ibn Habban no. 2896 in his Sahih).

Also said:

ما يصيب المؤمن من هم ولا غم ولا نصب ولا وصب ولا حزن ولا أذى حتى الشوكة يشاكها إلا كفر الله بها من خطاياه

« Worry, care, sadness, problem, harm will not overtake the believer, up to the point that even a thorn will pierce and he will feel pain, except that Allah forgives sins because of this "(Imam al-Bukhari). The slightest pain or any trial Allah establishes as a cause for washing away sins or exalting a degree.

The absence of trouble is a cause for concern

A person should not worry if troubles are often sent down on him, but it causes concern, then if there are no troubles at all, as the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: “ There is no good in a slave whose property does not decrease and does not experience bodily diseases, verily, Allah loves a slave who is tested and who shows patience during testing"(Ibn Abi Dunya). Similarly, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:

من يرد الله به خيراً يصب منه

« To whom Allah desires good, he sends calamities "(Imam al-Bukhariy).

How to be patient

When a person shows patience, he should show it sincerely, for the sake of Allah, and not for other reasons, as Allah said:

فَاصْبِرْ كَمَا صَبَرَ أُوْلُوا الْعَزْمِ

Meaning: “Show patience (Muhammad), like ulul-azmi (like the Prophets ulul-zam)” (“al-Ahkaf”, ayat 35). How to understand this verse? This verse means that one must be steadfast, not complain to anyone, but turn to Allah with a prayer for the granting of steadfastness before disasters, as the great Prophets (peace and blessings be upon him) did.

The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said:

ما من عبد تصيبه مصيبة فيقول : إنا لله وإنا إليه راجعون . اللهم أجرني في مصيبتي واخلف لي خيراً منها إلا أجره الله في مصيبته وأخلف له خيراً منها

« The trouble will not overtake the slave, and he will show steadfastness and say: “We are all from Allah and we will return to Him. Oh Allah! Follow this disaster good for me”, Allah will reward this slave "(Imam Muslim). That is, let the one on whom grief and sorrow fall turn to Allah with the words that are given in this hadith and Allah will reward in full for his patience.

In order for a person to receive the full reward for patience, he must observe the following conditions:

1) Be convinced that everything happens according to the will of Allah, and only Allah will save you from troubles.

2) Do not complain except to Allah.

3) To endure grief, only trusting in Allah and for the sake of Allah.

4) To be convinced that in everything there is the wisdom of Allah.

These are the basic conditions that a person, a Muslim, must comply with, otherwise a person will receive nothing but unnecessary suffering. It is a grave sin to complain and not thank Allah for any of His decisions.

May Allah not deprive us of steadfastness at a crucial and necessary moment. Amine!

Patience is a wonderful thing, as it is part of faith in Allah Almighty, who can change people's hearts. Sometimes it takes time for people to soften their hearts and change their condition. And Allah is the only one to whom it is subject. We know that patience is an integral part of our faith. What kind of patience does Islam imply, and under what conditions does it manifest itself?

Patience in daily trials

On our way, we face difficulties every day, whether it is getting a job, starting a business, or even trying to get married. All this will have an impact on our life in the eternal world, depending on the intentions. And the patience we exercise under these conditions is the effort required to complete a certain task in the best possible way.

Patience in this case is about being aware, having a sound mind and getting the right advice and following the path that is best for both lives.

Of course, patience does not mean stubbornness. If there are clear signs that it is not a good idea to follow this path, which can only bring harm, then it is better not to continue and not persist. Wisdom lies in knowing what a particular situation calls for.

Patience in Faith

The most important test in the life of a believer is the test of his faith. And life in the eternal world depends on how he passes this test. If a person takes a step towards the Almighty, He will run to him - this is the promise of Allah. If you experience that you are experiencing spiritual emptiness, go back to the basics, i.e. obligations. The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: “The religion is simple, and whoever burdens himself in his religion will not be able to continue to follow it.”

Such patience lies in the realization of true values, priorities and one's position. Such patience is in following your religion, despite external circumstances and your experiences and finding even more meaning in what you are already doing. Consistency in faith is a sign that a person does not lose hope in Allah Almighty.

Patience in religion begins in the unquestioning and unconditional fulfillment of obligatory prescriptions. This is the base on which other types of worship are superimposed and iman is strengthened.

Patience in the face of adversity

Life is not always joyful and cloudless, sometimes fate presents misfortunes and troubles. They are hard to bear and seem to be impossible to endure. But as the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said:

“Patience happens at the junction with trouble, i.e. true patience is such patience as is revealed at the first blows of adversity.”

A person who shows patience at the first blows of trouble is a person who is truly with Allah, who realizes that both joy and misfortune are all from Allah, and all the test of his faith and does not cease to trust in Allah. The Quran says:

“We will certainly test you with insignificant fear, hunger, loss of property, people and fruits. Rejoice then those who are patient, who, when trouble befalls them, say: “Indeed, we belong to Allah, and to Him we will return” (2: 155-56).

Patience is shown when we know that we are being tested, which has its own great purpose.

The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: “How wonderful is the position of the believer! Verily, everything in his position is good for him, and this is (not given) to anyone except the believer: if something pleases him, he thanks (Allah), and this becomes good for him, but if grief befalls him, he manifests patience, and this also becomes a boon for him.

Of course, it is natural to feel sadness and sadness when troubles befall us. Our faith does not forget that we are people and does not forbid us to show these feelings. He just does not allow us to put out the warm flame of hope for the best and finding peace. When the son of the Prophet (peace be upon him) died, He (peace be upon him) said:

“The eyes are crying and the heart is grieving, but we only say what Allah is pleased with.”

In this case, patience does not mean despair. There is a time for sadness and sorrow, but relief for the believer comes at the moment when he realizes that in everything there is the great wisdom of Allah. And in case of troubles and misfortunes, patience is not an expression of despair, it is an allowance for sadness, but also a continuation of the path. And the consolation is in:

“Whatever befalls a Muslim, be it fatigue, illness, anxiety, sadness, trouble, grief, or even a prick of a thorn, Allah will certainly forgive him for this one of his sins.”

Patience in dealing with people

The people we meet along the way are also our test. There are people who test our patience. It can be our parents, brothers, sisters, our friends and colleagues. The Almighty said in the Quran:

“We have made some of you a temptation to others: will you be patient? Your Lord is Seeing" (25:20).

Patience is shown in our attitude, reaction. Patience is not to become embittered or to humiliate or offend a person. In addition, patience lies in the distance from slander and gossip. By being patient with a person who can irritate us, we abstain from the forbidden.

In everyday life, we sometimes lose patience, and that's okay: maybe your train is late, or you can't wait to get home from work and start watching your favorite show. But there is one place where impatience is not at all welcome - in a relationship. When you're dealing with problems with your significant other, demanding quick fixes and easy exits isn't the best way to go. But the reward for being patient in a relationship is worth the serious effort and time. If you show patience and consideration for each other every day, you can create happy and healthy relationships together.

Steps

Be patient with your partner

  1. Consider your partner's feelings. If you are patient and kind to your partner, he will feel loved and adored. If you are impatient and intolerant, your partner is likely to feel rejected. Your actions and reactions can have a direct impact on how your partner feels, so think about it when you show impatience or frustration. Remember that you care deeply about your partner and you don't want to hurt him.

    • For example, if your partner forgets to stop and buy milk by saying, "It's okay, we'll buy it later," you show that you understand that it was a simple mistake. If you say something like "I can't believe you did it again. You always forget everything”, you mean that your partner is full of flaws and that his mistakes are unacceptable. Remember that a small mistake like this is not the end of the world.
  2. Consider your answers. Being immediately intolerant is the norm these days; many people assume that mistakes or inconveniences are the result of other people's incompetence and frivolity. However, this is a rather stern look at those around you and can make you say hurtful things before you realize it. A great way to kick this habit is to use a "silencer" to force yourself to think before you respond.

    • For example, you might make it a rule to take three deep breaths before you say anything when something upsets you. This will give you time to think about the situation and respond appropriately. You will probably realize that what you thought was a huge mistake is actually not such a big problem, and the reaction may not be anger, but understanding.
    • In a more serious situation, you can leave the room or go for a walk. This will allow you to cool down and think about your reaction.
  3. Expectations must be realistic. Patience will come with understanding, and one of the most important things to understand about your partner is that they are not perfect. And it can't be! When you set unrealistic expectations for your partner or decide that absolutely everything has to go a certain way, you will inevitably be disappointed. This frustration will lead to impatience and dissatisfaction in the relationship. You can avoid this by simply having reasonable expectations about your partner.

    • An example of an unreasonable expectation would be to think that your partner should be home at 5:30 sharp every day, even if it takes 25 minutes to get home from work and he works until 5:00. This doesn't give you time to account for things like getting to your car or traffic jams, and ultimately sets your partner up for failure. Try setting more reasonable limits instead, like expecting your partner to let you know when they're late or coming home late for some reason.
    • Another example is expecting your significant other to always want to watch the same shows as you. Instead, you can expect him to sometimes let you choose and other times you let him choose. Compromise and understanding are key ingredients in any relationship.
  4. Treat your partner as a whole person. Remember that there are no perfect relationships. There will inevitably be moments of tension between you and your partner from time to time, and that's okay. Instead of letting that tension define your relationship during times like these, always remember what you love about your partner. When you look at him as a whole person, it is easier for you to be patient even during stressful times.

    • For example, if your partner does something that really irritates you, like tapping his foot, don't let that irritant take precedence over all the good things you love about your partner.
    • You may also notice that some of the expressions that your significant other often uses are often repeated to you. Keep in mind that you are likely to spend more time in his company than anyone else, and, accordingly, hear his stories and phrases more. Remember that these things are part of the whole person you fell in love with and they are not that important in the long run.
  5. Practice positive self-talk. Listen to the internal dialogue that plays out in your mind all day long. This is your conversation with yourself. Your internal dialogue can torment you just as easily as other people's phrases, or, conversely, it can boost your confidence. As you analyze yourself and think (or tell) yourself to be patient, focus on your progress in a positive way. It's easy to get frustrated when you're angry, but staying positive can help you calm down and look at things rationally.

    • For example, avoid thoughts such as "I'm just not patient enough to deal with this." Change such thoughts into positive thoughts by thinking or saying something like, “Working with this will take a lot of patience. I can do it if I put in the right amount of time and control my emotions.”

Daily practice of patience

  1. Be aware of your stress. Understand your stress levels and find out the factors that affect you the most. Try journaling these top stressors and how they make you feel. When you understand your irritants, you can better control your stress levels. Controlling your stress will allow you to focus on being a more patient person. Common stressors can include:

    • traffic jams;
    • long queues;
    • too frequent phone calls;
    • deadlines.
  2. Stay positive. In most situations, you can see the positive and negative sides. How patient you will be in a given situation depends on how positive or negative your outlook is. If you focus on the positive aspects of a situation, you will be much more patient.

    • For example, if you think that time spent in traffic is wasted time, you will be frustrated and impatient. Instead, reframe the situation. Sure, you spent a lot of time in traffic, but it was a great opportunity to talk to your significant other. With this subtle twist, the experience becomes positive and both of you will be more patient.
