Yarilo is the god of the sun and the holiday dedicated to him Yarilin day. Folk myth about the sun

Yarilo and Mother Earth Cheese

Mother Earth Cheese lay in darkness and cold. She was dead - no light, no heat, no sounds, no movement.

And the eternally young, eternally joyful bright Yar said: “Let's look through the pitch darkness at Mother Earth Cheese, is it good, is it beautiful, will we have to think about it?”

And the flame of the gaze of the bright Yar in one wave pierced the immeasurable layers of darkness that lay above the fallen earth. And where Yarilin's gaze cut through the darkness, a red sun shone there.

And the hot waves of the radiant Yarili poured through the sun - into the light. Mother Earth Cheese awakened from sleep and spread out in youthful beauty, like a bride on a marriage bed… She greedily drank the golden rays of life-giving light, and from that light scorching life and languishing bliss spilled over her bowels.

The sweet speeches of the god of love, the eternally young god Yarila, are carried in sunny speeches: “Oh, you are a goy, Mother Earth Cheese! love me, the god of light, for your love I will adorn you with blue seas, yellow sands, green ants, scarlet, azure flowers; you will give birth from me to my dear children, a myriad of ... "

Love the Earth of Yarilina's speech, she loved the god of light and from his hot kisses she was decorated with cereals, flowers, dark forests, blue seas, blue rivers, silvery lakes. She drank the hot kisses of Yarilina, and heavenly birds flew out of her bowels, forest and field animals ran out of dens, fish swam in rivers and seas, small flies and midges crowded in the air ... And everything lived., everything loved, and everything sang laudatory songs : father - Yarila, mother - Raw Earth.

And again, from the red sun, Yarila’s love speeches rush: “Oh, you are a goy, Mother Earth Cheese! I decorated you with beauty, you gave birth to countless cute children, love me more than ever, give birth to my beloved offspring.

Those speeches of the mother to the damp earth were love, she greedily drank the life-giving rays and gave birth to a man ... And when he came out of the bowels of the earth, Yarilo hit him on the head with a golden rein - a fierce lightning. And from that lightning the mind was born in man. Hello Yarilo beloved earthly son with heavenly thunders, streams of lightning. And from those thunders, from that lightning, all living creatures trembled in horror: heavenly birds flew away, oak forest animals hid in caves, one man raised his rational head to the sky and answered his father’s thunderous speech with a prophetic word, a winged speech ... And, hearing that word and seeing his king and lord, all the trees, all the flowers and cereals bowed before him, the animals, birds and every living creature obeyed him.

Mother Earth Cheese rejoiced in happiness, in joy, hoped that Yarilin's love had no end, no edge ... But for a short time the red sun began to sink, bright days shortened, Cold winds blew, song birds fell silent, oak forest animals howled, and shuddered from cold, king and lord of all breathing and non-breathing creatures ...

Clouded Mother Earth Cheese and from grief-sorrow watered her faded face with bitter tears - fractional rains.

Mother Earth Cheese is crying: “About the wind, the sail! .. Why are you breathing on me with a hateful cold? .. Yarilino’s eye is a red sun! .. Why are you warming and shining not as before? my children, to die, and again I lie in darkness and cold! .. And why did I recognize the light, why did I recognize life and love? .. Why was I recognized with clear rays, with hot kisses of the god Yarila?

Silent Yarilo.

“I don’t feel sorry for myself,” Mother Earth Cheese cries, shrinking from the cold, “mother’s heart mourns for dear children.”

Yarilo says: “Don’t cry, don’t grieve, Mother Earth Cheese, I’m leaving you for a while. Do not leave you for a while - you will burn to the ground under my kisses. Keeping you and our children, I will reduce heat and light for a while, leaves will fall on the trees, grasses and cereals will wither, you will dress with a cover of snow, you will sleep and rest until my arrival ... The time will come, I will send a messenger to you - Spring Krasna, following I will come in the spring."

Mother Earth Cheese is crying: “You don’t pity me, Yarilo, poor, you don’t pity, bright God, your children! - to perish before everyone else, when you deprive us of heat and light ... "

Yarilo sprinkled lightning on the stones, doused the oak trees with a burning look. And he said to Mother Raw Earth: “Here I poured fire on stones and trees. I am in that fire. With his mind-reason, a person will reach how to take light and heat from wood and stone. That fire is a gift to my beloved son. All living creatures will be in fear and horror, he alone will serve.

And the god Yarilo departed from the Earth ... Violent winds rushed, covered Yarilino's eye with dark clouds - the red sun, white snows were applied, even in a shroud they enveloped Mother Earth Cheese in them. Everything froze, everything fell asleep, one person did not sleep, did not doze - he had the great gift of Father Yarila, and with him light and warmth ...

1. Organizational moment.

Literary Reading Teacher:

Guys, today we will plunge into the world of the past of our Motherland. At a time when people lived in harmony with nature, loved and deified it. These words can serve as an epigraph to our lesson ( )

A people that does not know its history, its ancient roots, is doomed to perish. It is fortunate that our ancient legends about the Slavic gods have been at least partially preserved, transmitted to us by unknown storytellers, our distant ancestors. And after reading them, you can proudly say that you are the heirs of the ancient Slavs. You, just like them, will know and love your history, respect the traditions of your people and be proud of its thousands of years of history.

2. Repetition of the studied material .

Legends, legends, how else can you call it? (myths )

But what is a myth? What signs of a myth do you know? (stories about gods, heroes, myths reflect the fantastic ideas of people)

The teacher, summing up what has been said, gives a definition of myth.

A myth is a story (narration) about gods, heroes, spirits, reflecting the fantastic ideas of people about the world, nature and human existence.

With the myths of which peoples did we meet in previous lessons? (Greek, Khakass ) Name them.(“Arion”, “Dedalus and Icarus”, “Moon and Chilbigen”, etc.)

Returning to our words on the slide, tell me, what myth of the people will we get acquainted with today? (Slavic )

If a myth is a story about the gods, and we will get acquainted with the Slavic myth, we cannot but recall the Slavic gods. Let's remember what Slavic gods we met in the lessons of the world around us ( )

On the slides are pictures with images of some Slavic gods, their names and a brief description. Students read this information.

God Svarog - The Supreme Heavenly God, who controls the course of our Life and the entire World Order of the Universe.

God Perun – God is the Patron of all warriors, the protector of the Lands from the Dark Forces.

Mother of God Makosh - The Heavenly Mother of God, the Fair Goddess of a happy lot and Fate, together with her daughters Doley and Nedolya determines the Fates of the Heavenly Gods, as well as the fate of all people.

Dazhdbog - The Guardian God of the ancient Great Wisdom, the giver of all blessings, happiness and prosperity.

Stribog - God who controls lightning, whirlwinds, hurricanes, winds and sea storms.

Yarila - ….?( picture and description is missing on the slide )

What is God Yarila? Let's read the myth, and perhaps there we will find the answer to this question.

3. Learning new material.

A) Primary reading of the text.

The myth “Yarilo - the Sun” is read by four well-read students, according to the logical parts into which the entire text is divided.

What is the myth about? (about the origin of life on Earth, about the origin of man, about God Yaril)

What feelings did this piece evoke?(admiration, pride in a person, joy)

Teacher : Our main goal today in the lesson is to create an image of the god Yarila from individual information in the text, to draw his verbal portrait.

First, let's try to understand why it is so named? Let's pick up single-root words for the word Yarilo(angry, bright, furious). Let's find the meaning of the word "ardent" in the explanatory dictionary of S. Ozhegov and read it.

B) Analysis of the literary image of Yarila

1 group : Read 1 paragraph in a chain one sentence at a time and answer the questions:

What was Mother Earth Cheese before the advent of Yarila? (was dead, no heat, no sounds)

- Is there a description of Yarila in the text? (forever young, forever joyful bright Yarilo )

What did Yarilo do to wake up the Earth?penetrated, cut through the layers of darkness, hot waves of radiant light poured)

2 group : read paragraphs 2 and 3 “to yourself” and answer the questions:

How did the Earth change with the advent of Yarila? (woke up, spread out in beauty, decorated with cereals, flowers, etc. )

How to understand the expression “greedily she drank the golden rays of the life-giving light”? What means of artistic expression is used here? (personification)

- Who appeared on Earth under the influence of Yarilin light? (fish, animals, birds)

3 group : answer questions for paragraphs 4 and 5 by selective reading.

How was the birth of man and how did his mind arise?

How did Yarila welcome the birth of a person?

What did Yarila leave instead of himself when his strength weakened?(the fire)

Literary reading teacher sums up G:

Thus, we can say that Yarila is the god of the Sun, bringing young freshness, flourishing and fertility into the life of nature, awakening life.

Right left
We sat down together - back to business!

C) Acquaintance with the artistic images of Yarila.

enters

- It would be interesting to know, but how did the people portray God Yarilo? To answer this question, let's collect his image. (Students assemble an illustration depicting Yarila, cut into several parts)

Teacher:

- It looked like Yarila - a spring, young man in a white shirt, barefoot, with a wreath of wild flowers on his head, riding a white horse. ( )

April 23 - Yarila Veshny Day. What happened on this day?

From the first group, three students tell the information that lies on their table:

1st student: On this day, Yarila “unlocks” Mother Cheese-Earth and releases dew, which causes the rapid growth of herbs.

2nd student: The people said: “Yarila unlocks the Earth, releases the spring from under the bushel, drives out the green grass.”

3rd student: On this day, a solemn drive of cattle to pasture took place. According to custom, cattle and children were lightly hit with willow branches and sentenced: “The willow brought health! As the willow grows, so do you!

Teacher:

- ( ) - But the image of Yarila was not unambiguous, it changed during the summer, and many holidays were dedicated to this.

And on June 4, Yarilo seemed different to the people . In one hand he held a bunch of rye, and in the other a club. What is this day?

Three students from the second group come out:

1st student: Day of honoring Yarila the Strong, or else he was called Yarila Wet.

2nd student: On this day, the owner always went to the field - “to look at the live”. Why is a specially baked pie placed in the seedlings. Then the owner steps back a few steps and looks to see if the pie is visible in shoots or not. If the cake is not visible, then the harvest will be good.

3rd student: Starting from this day, Yarila's spring power is waning up to Kupala.

Teacher:

July 7 is not only the day of Kupala, but also the day of seeing off Yarila. Which is no longer thought of as young, but as a gray-bearded old man who gave all his life-giving power to the Earth. ( )

1st student: On this day, it was customary to roll burning wheels from the nearest hill.

2nd student: A comic “funeral” of Yarila was held. For this, a straw effigy of the aged Yarila was made, which, according to the Law of Similarity, was buried by the same old man.

3rd student: Another version of Yarila's wires was as follows: around the old man, representing Yarila, they danced.

Fine art teacher:

-We learned a lot about the god Yaril and we can conclude who he is.

( ).

- Yarilo is the image of the Sun-God. God of awakening nature and fertility, symbol of strength and love. The patron saint of the plant world. In honor of him, people began to give names to their children in order to be strong and ardent for them - Yaropolk, Yaromir, Yaroslav.

But we do not know with what words people addressed Yarila. We will recognize them after we transform our Earth in the likeness of Yarila (on the board the image of the unlived Earth ). To do this, we will work in groups.

4. Fixing the material.

Creative work in groups. (during the work, music with birdsong sounds)

Group 1: create images of people in folk costumes;

Group 2: create an image of a blooming Earth (flowers, trees);

Group 3: create an image of the sky (clouds, birds, sun)

5. Creation of team work.

After completing the work in groups, a collective work is created, depicting a holistic image of the world.

Fine art teacher:

Have we changed our Earth? What did she become?beautiful, elegant, blooming)

Thanks to your creative work, words appeared in our work with which people turned to Yarila, honoring him.( )

The student expressively reads the words written on the slide.

Hello, Yarila Trisvetly!
Glorious and Trislaven be!
You bring forth the fruits of our fields
And our valiant strength!
Yes, to the glory of the Heavenly Family
And Mother Earth!
So it was, so it is
And so it will be!

6. The result of the lesson.

Literary Reading Teacher:

Let's sum up the lesson. What new did you learn in the lesson? What have you learned? What did you find most interesting?

7. Homework.

1 group. Find and write out obsolete words, explain their meaning.

2 group. Find and write out from the text a metaphor, comparison and personification.

3rd group. An expressive reading of the excerpt "Earth Awakening".

8. Reflection.

Fine art teacher:

If you liked the lesson, you learned a lot of new and interesting things, let each of you complement our sun(on a board on a sheet of whatman paper the sun without rays) with your ray of knowledge.

You did a great job today, well done! And I want to finish the lesson with the words of the commandment left to us by our Slavic ancestors( )

Each act you perform leaves its indelible mark on the eternal Path of your life, and therefore, people, do only beautiful and good deeds, but to the Glory of your Gods and Ancestors, for the edification of your descendants!

The mythology of the ancient Slavs was closely connected with nature. Our ancestors lived in symbiosis with the elements, and their rites and rituals were designed to emphasize this unity. The researchers note that the amplitude of the nature of the religious traditions of the Slavs was quite wide: from peaceful agricultural to cruel and bloody cults.

Mother - Cheese Earth

From time immemorial, the basis of Slavic mythology was the cult of a goddess named Mother - Cheese Earth. She gave life, she took it away. As the researcher of Slavic mythology Yu.I. Smirnov, the Slavs represented her in the image of a woman: grasses, bushes and trees - her lush hair, their roots - veins, rocks - bones, streams and rivers - living blood. They swore in the name of Mother Earth, while eating a pinch of earth, and this oath could not be broken, because the earth would not bear an oathbreaker. Until now, the expression “So that I can fall through the ground” has been preserved.
Grain was brought as a requirement for Mother Earth.

Cults of love and fertility

An echo of Slavic antiquity was the veneration of the Family; it was he who sent the souls of people from heaven to earth. The clan was considered the patron of men, and women were taken care of by his daughters - women in labor. Among women in labor, two are known: Lada and her daughter Lelya.

Lada was considered the protector of the family, the goddess of love and beauty, as well as fertility. Collector of Russian folk tales A.N. Afanasiev wrote: “In folk tales, lado still means a dearly beloved friend, lover, groom, husband, and in the female form (lada) - a mistress, bride and wife.” Goddess Lelya took care of the first spring sprouts, flowers and favored girlish love.

Women in childbirth brought gifts of flowers and berries. Fertility rituals were associated with the naked body.
A kind of rite was performed on the grain field with the aim of a good harvest. “The hostess lay down in the field and pretended to give birth, they put a loaf between her legs,” said Professor N.M. Nikolsky in the book "History of the Russian Church". On Holy Week, the last week of Great Lent, they also conjured that the bread would be born better. The owner was shaking the plow, imitating plowing. A naked woman collected cockroaches in the corners, wrapped them in a rag and carried them out onto the road. They also slandered cattle and poultry.

In the Vyatka province, on Maundy Thursday, before sunrise, a naked mistress of the house had to run with an old pot to the garden and overturn it on a stake: the pot remained in this position on a stake throughout the summer - this protected the chickens from a bird of prey.

And near Kostroma, until the 18th century, such a pagan ritual was preserved: a naked girl sat down like a witch, broomed on a stalk and “circled” around the house three times.

Yarilo

It was a cheerful god of the spring sun and fertility, the patron of love and childbearing. His name comes from the word "yar" - "strength". The deity was represented not only as a young man in white clothes and on a white horse, but sometimes as a woman dressed in white trousers and a shirt and holding a stuffed human head in her right hand, and a bunch of ears in her left: symbols of life and death. Yarilo had a wreath of the first wildflowers on his head.

Yarilin Day was celebrated on April 27. On this day, the girl was put on a white horse, which was led around a ritual pillar or tree in a high place. Then they tied the horse and led a dance around, singing the coming of spring. The second holiday dedicated to Yarila was celebrated in the middle of summer before Petrovsky Lent. This time the deity was portrayed by a young man dressed in white clothes, decorated with ribbons and flowers. He led the holiday, which ended with refreshments and festivities.

Yarila was glorified as “spreading spring or morning sunlight, exciting plant power in grasses and trees and carnal love in people and animals, youthful freshness, strength and courage in a person” (P. Efimenko. “Zap. Imp. Rus. Geogr. General on the department of ethnography, 1868).

The cult of Veles - the god of animals and the underworld

The winged serpent Veles was revered as the patron of cattle and forest animals. He also ruled the underworld, and unquenchable fire was dedicated to him. When the bread was harvested, a bundle of uncompressed ears was left as a gift to Veles. For the health and fertility of livestock, a white lamb was slaughtered. The ritual of bringing human sacrifices to Veles is described in the "Legend of the construction of the city of Yaroslavl":
“When the first pasture of cattle came to the pastures, the sorcerer slaughtered the calf and the heifer for him, but at the usual time he burned the victims from wild animals, and on some very difficult days - from people. When the fire at Volos died out, the sorcerer was removed from the keremeti on the same day and hour, and another was chosen by lot, and this one slaughtered the sorcerer and, lighting a fire, burned his corpse in it as a sacrifice, the only one capable of amusing this formidable god "( Voronin N. Bear cult in the Upper Volga region of the XI century). New fire was allowed to be obtained only by rubbing wood against wood: then it was considered "alive".

With the advent of Christianity, Veles was replaced by a Christian saint with a similar name - the holy martyr Blasius. As the researcher of Slavic mythology Yu.I. Smirnov, on the day of the memory of this saint, February 24, the peasants treated their pets with bread and watered them with baptismal water. And if diseases attacked the cattle, people “plowed” the village - they laid a furrow around it with a plow and walked around with the icon of St. Blaise.

fire cult

The god of fire was Svarog (his other names are Svyatovit, Radegast) and his son Svarozhich. Fire was considered sacred by the Slavs. It was impossible to spit at him, to throw sewage. When the fire was burning, it was forbidden to swear. Healing and cleansing properties were attributed to fire. A sick person was carried through the fire, in which evil forces were supposed to die. Before the wedding, the bride and groom were carried out between two fires in order to cleanse and protect the future family from possible damage.

Breaking dishes at modern weddings is an echo of the worship of Svarog, only before they beat the pots on the stove.

Bloody sacrifices were also brought to Svarog, which were determined by lot or indicated by the priest. Most often they were animals, but there could also be people. “Among the various sacrifices, the priest is in the habit of sometimes sacrificing people - Christians, assuring that this kind of blood gives special pleasure to the gods” (Helmold. Slavic Chronicle, 1167-1168). Adam of Bremen in the chronicle of the 11th century “Acts of the Hamburg Bishops” tells about the death of John, Bishop of Mecklenburg: “The barbarians chopped off his arms and legs, threw his body on the road, cut off his head and, sticking it on a spear, sacrificed it to their god Radegast as a sign victory."

Cult of the gods of war

When princely power was consolidated, the primacy of the cult of fertility was replaced by the cult of war. Near Veliky Novgorod there was a temple - Peryn, where human sacrifices were made to the gods of this cult. One of the first written references to ritual murders can be considered a message in the Byzantine "Strategikon of Mauritius" (VI-VII centuries). In it, in particular, we are talking about the Slavic tribes of the Sklavins and Antes.

In former times, Peryn was an island, but in the 1960s, the water regime was disturbed by the construction of a bulk dam. As a result, the river around Peryn became shallow and the island united with the coast. In the Kiev sanctuary, arranged by Prince Vladimir Svyatoslavich in 980, there were several idols: a wooden Perun with a silver head and a golden mustache, Khors, Dazhbog, Stribog, Simargl and Mokosh. About the sacrifices that were brought to these gods, there is evidence in a number of foreign sources.

The German Bishop Titmar of Merseburg wrote in the "Chronicles" (XI century):
“How many in that country [Slavic - ed.] regions, there are so many temples and images of individual demons that the infidels revere, but among them the mentioned city [temple - ed.] enjoys the greatest respect. They visit him when they go to war, and upon returning, if the campaign was successful, they honor him with appropriate gifts, and what kind of sacrifice the priests should bring in order for it to be desired by the gods, they guessed about it, as I already said, by means of a horse and lots. The wrath of the gods was propitiated by the blood of people and animals.

The Byzantine chronicler Leo the Deacon (mid-10th century) tells of the Byzantine siege of Prince Svyatoslav in the city of Dorostol. The author called all northern barbarians Scythians, but, of course, real Scythians no longer existed, and we are talking about pagan Slavs and Rus:

“The Scythians could not withstand the onslaught of the enemy; greatly dejected by the death of their leader (Ikmor, the second man in the army after Svyatoslav), they threw their shields behind their backs and began to retreat to the city, and the Romans pursued them and killed them. And so, when night fell and the full circle of the moon shone, the Scythians went out onto the plain and began to pick up their dead. They piled them up in front of the wall, made many fires and burned them, slaughtering many captives, men and women, according to the custom of their ancestors. Having made this bloody sacrifice, they strangled several infants and roosters, drowning them in the waters of Istra.

The fact of the sacrifice of captives and babies among the Slavs is confirmed by other medieval authors, as well as by archaeologists. B.A. Rybakov, in his book Paganism of Ancient Russia, writes that the ancient settlement of Babina Gora on the banks of the Dnieper, which, in his opinion, belonged to the early Slavs, was a pagan sanctuary where babies were sacrificed. Evidence of this, according to the researcher, are children's skulls buried nearby without objects that usually accompanied burials. He suggests that Babina Gora "can be imagined as a sanctuary of a female deity like Makosh", where the victims were children.

Ibn Rust, early 10th century:
“They [Slavs - author] have healers, of whom others command the king, as if they were their bosses. It happens that they order to bring a sacrifice to their creator, whatever they want: women, men and horses, and even when the healers order, it is impossible not to fulfill their order in any way. Taking a person or animal, the healer puts a noose around his neck, hangs the victim on a log and waits until it suffocates, and says that this is a sacrifice to God.

The chronicle "The Tale of Bygone Years" mentions a young Christian whom the pagans wanted to sacrifice: John, son of Theodore Varyag. The son and his father were killed by a mob of pagan fanatics. Subsequently, the Church canonized them as holy martyrs. To which god the young Varangian was to be sacrificed, the chronicler does not specify. B.A. Rybakov believes that Perun. But only 8 years after the creation of the temple in Kyiv, Prince Vladimir converted to Christianity and “ordered to overthrow the idols - chop some and burn others. Perun ordered to be tied to a horse and dragged from the mountain along Borichev to the Brook and ordered twelve men to beat him with sticks. This was done not because the tree feels something, but to desecrate the demon, who deceived people in this image - so that he would accept retribution from people. The beaten Perun was thrown into the Dnieper, and the princely people were ordered to push him away from the shore until he passed the rapids.

Riddles about summer, proverbs and sayings about summer, stories about summer

About June for children

"Dry" rain

In the deserts of Turkmenistan, rain is very rare in summer. And if it happens, it is only “dry”. What is this rain?

Lightning flashes, thunder rumbles. It starts to rain. However, the rain evaporates before reaching the surface of the earth. That is why even someone who has lived in the desert for decades hardly remembers the summer rains.

Yarilo-Sun and Mother Earth Cheese (Slavic myth)

Mother Earth Cheese lay in darkness and cold. She was dead - no light, no heat, no sounds, no movement.

And the eternally young, eternally joyful bright Yar said: “Let's look through the pitch darkness at Mother Earth Cheese, is it good, is it good, will we think about it?” And the flame of the gaze of the bright Yar in an instant pierced the immeasurable layers of darkness that lay above the sleeping Earth. And where Yarilin's gaze cut through the darkness, a red sun shone there.

And hot waves of radiant Yarilin light poured through the sun. Mother Earth Cheese woke up from sleep and spread out in youthful beauty, like a bride on a marriage bed... She greedily drank the golden rays of life-giving light, and from that light scorching life and languishing bliss spilled over her bowels.

The sweet speeches of the god of love, the eternally young god Yarila, rush in the sun: “Oh, you are a goy, Mother Earth Cheese! Love me, the god of light, for your love I will adorn you with blue seas, yellow sands, green ants, scarlet, azure flowers; you will give birth to my dear children, a myriad of ...

And everything lived, everything loved, and everything sang laudatory songs: father - Yarila, mother - Raw Earth.

And again, from the red sun, Yarila’s love speeches rush: “Oh, you are a goy, Mother Earth Cheese! I decorated you with beauty, you gave birth to countless cute children, love me more than ever, give birth to my beloved offspring.

Those speeches of Mother Raw Earth were love, she greedily drank the life-giving rays and gave birth to a man ... And when he came out of the bowels of the earth, Yarilo hit him on the head with a golden rein - a fierce lightning. And from that lightning the mind in man was born. Hello Yarilo beloved earthly son with heavenly thunders, streams of lightning. And from those thunders, from that lightning, all living creatures trembled in horror: heavenly birds scattered, oak forest animals hid in caves, one man raised his rational head to the sky and answered his father’s thunderous speech with a prophetic word, a winged speech ... And, having heard that word and seeing his king and lord, all the trees, all the flowers and grasses bowed before him, the animals, birds and every living creature obeyed him.

Mother Earth Cheese rejoiced in happiness, in joy, hoped that Yarilin's love had no end, no edge ... But for a short time the red sun began to sink, bright days shortened, cold winds blew, song birds fell silent, oak forest animals howled, and the king and lord of all breathing and non-breathing creatures shuddered from the cold ...

Clouded Mother Earth Cheese and from grief-sorrow watered her faded face with bitter tears - fractional rains. Mother Earth Cheese is crying: “About the wind-wind! .. Why do you breathe on me with a hateful cold? .. Yarilino’s eye is a red sun! .. Why do you warm and shine not as before? of my beauty, to die for my children, and again I lie in darkness and cold! .. And why did I recognize the light, why did I recognize life and love? .. Why was I recognized with clear rays, with hot kisses of the god Yarila? “I don’t feel sorry for myself,” Mother Earth Cheese cries, shrinking from the cold, “mother’s heart mourns for dear children.”

Yarilo consoled her, saying that he would return soon, but for now, so that people would not freeze, he sent Fire to the earth.

What do larks sing about? (Moldovan folk tale)

Once upon a time there was a king, and the king had only one son. It so happened that the heir fell ill. The king called doctors from all over the kingdom and ordered them to cure his son.

The doctors began to look at the patient, began to confer on how to treat him. They cannot determine the disease, they cannot prescribe medicines. With that they left.

The king then shouted to the whole earth - whoever heals the prince, he will receive expensive gifts, untold riches.

And then the old sorcerer came to the palace. He examined the prince and said: "The prince will recover when he eats the tongue of a non-bird bird, which is killed by a non-human man with a non-human gun made of a non-wood tree." The elder said these words and left the palace without demanding a gift.

The king called his boyars, told them the words of the elder and asked for advice: what kind of non-bird is this, who is that non-human man, what kind of gun-non-gun is this, made of wood-non-wood.

The boyars began to think, to solve the royal riddle.

- The non-bird is, of course, a lark. Although he flies, he walks more on the ground. Although he sings, but only in the sky, not like other birds. And, having sung, it falls to the ground, well, like a stone.

“And a nonhuman man,” said the boyars, “is, of course, a shepherd.” He does not live in the village, like all people, but in codru, like a wild beast. He does not spend time with people, but with sheep - what kind of a real person is he?

“And the tree is not a tree,” decided the boyars, “it’s probably a linden.” The wood of the linden is soft, fragile - where can it be compared with a real tree!

A gun-non-gun - what is there to guess! It's a bow with arrows. This bow is made entirely of linden, the bowstring is made of bast.

The king of the boyars obeyed. The boyars made a bow and ordered to bring a shepherd.

“Here’s a linden bow for you,” said the boyars. “Go and shoot us a lark bird.” We will rip out his tongue, give it to the king's son, and he will recover.

The shepherd took a bow and went to hunt the lark.

The lark either flew straight up to the sun and burst into a ringing song there, then threw itself down like a stone - teased the hunter. The shepherd was already tired of chasing him, when suddenly the lark sat on the ground and asked in a human voice:

“Why are you following me, do you really want to kill me?” After all, you and I are old acquaintances, no one climbs the hill before you - and I'm the first to sing a song when I see you. I am your friend, and you aimed an arrow at me.

And the shepherd opened himself to the lark.

“I don’t want to kill you, boyars. So they decided at the royal council. They considered me a non-human person, but they said about you that you are a bird-non-bird. They gave me a gun-non-gun in my hands - a lime bow, a bast bowstring - all made of non-wood wood. They ordered to kill you in order to deprive you of your tongue, and with this language they will cure the king's son.

Here the lark laughed.

- The boyars deceived you! I am a bird, real, genuine. I will flap my wings - I will fly high. I open my beak - the song will flow. And I breed chicks like other birds. And winter will come - I fight with a blizzard-blizzard, I stay in my native places, I don’t fly to foreign lands. Well, tell me - are there many such birds in the world? And think to yourself: what kind of inhuman person are you, if you protect the flock in rain and cold, take care of every lamb, do not spare your strength for the sake of people. You are the real person! And linden is a tree! - said the lark. - Well, remember what the rafters above your roof are made of, the beams in your attic! And what do you slurp on cabbage soup - is your spoon carved from oak? The real tree is linden. And your bow with arrows is a good weapon. How many enemies were driven away from their homes with this weapon! If you want to know what a non-gun is, it's an elderberry tube from which the boys shoot peas. Elderberry is a non-tree tree, because almost all of it is made of pulp, only the tube is hard. But non-human people are those who sent you to kill me: bare-parasites. That's for sure - they are non-human people, because it's not a head on their shoulders, but a fake block of wood!

Boyar's hat

Mind is very small

Well, maybe even

He didn't exist!

Having sung this song, the lark flew high into the sky, to the very sun.

All the larks, just seeing the shepherd, then fly up high, then fall down like a stone and sing all the time:

The boyar has very little Mind under his hat,

Well, maybe He never existed!

The lark sings this song to this day.

About July for children

Ivan Kupala holiday for children

Ivan Kupala belonged to the most revered, most important, most wild holidays of the year, the entire population took part in it, and the tradition required the active inclusion of everyone in all rituals and actions; special behavior, mandatory implementation and observance of a number of rules, prohibitions, customs.

Midsummer Day is filled with rituals related to water. Swimming in the morning on Ivan's Day is a nationwide custom, and only in some areas the peasants considered such bathing dangerous, since the birthday man on Ivan's Day is a water man himself, who cannot stand it when people climb into his kingdom, and takes revenge on them by drowning everyone careless.

According to ancient belief, Ivan Kupala personifies the flowering of the forces of nature. At the heart of the rites is the veneration of water and the sun. Since ancient times, it was customary to kindle ritual bonfires on the banks of rivers and lakes on the night of Ivan Kupala. They jumped over them and threw wreaths.

On the day of Ivan Kupala, they tried to be healed with dew. To do this, you need to get up as early as possible and walk barefoot through the healing Kupala dew. On this day, a massive collection of medicinal herbs took place. Kupala grass acquires special healing power by sunrise, and so, as they say, “he who gets up early, God gives him!”

According to legend, Ivanovo night was considered a time of rampant evil spirits: gatherings of sorcerers and witches were held in the swamps.

There are several folk signs for this day.

On Midsummer's Day, the sun plays at sunrise.

Strong dew on Ivan - to the harvest of cucumbers.

Starry night on Ivan - there will be a lot of mushrooms.

If the rain cries, then in five days the sun will laugh.

In the sharp smell of the earth.

The sun shines with bells

Breathes the laughter of young faces.

So say to all the blind: it will be for you!

Do not see you heavenly gates.

The sun has a scent

Sweetly intelligible only to us,

Visible to birds and flowers!

In the village, across the river

The flame is out.

Sprinkled with dew

Flowers in the fields.

The herds have awakened

In soft meadows.

Summer evening

Already the sun is a hot ball

The earth rolled off its head,

And a peaceful evening fire

The sea wave swallowed.

The bright stars have risen

And gravitating over us

Heavenly vault lifted

With their wet heads.

The airy river is fuller

Flowing between heaven and earth

The chest breathes easier and more freely,

Freed from the heat.

And sweet thrill, like a jet,

Nature ran through the veins,

How hot her legs

Key waters touched.

What is the dew on the grass

When you go to the forest on a sunny morning in summer, you can see diamonds in the fields, in the grass. All these diamonds shine and shimmer in the sun in different colors - yellow, red, and blue.

When you come closer and see what it is, you will see that these are drops of dew gathered in triangular leaves of grass and glisten in the sun.

The leaf of this grass inside is shaggy and fluffy, like velvet.

And the drops roll on the leaf and do not wet it.

When you inadvertently pick off a leaf with a dewdrop, the drop will roll down like a ball of light, and you will not see how it slips past the stem. It used to be that you tear off such a cup, slowly bring it to your mouth and drink a dewdrop, and this dewdrop seems to be tastier than any drink.

(L. Tolstoy)

On the field in summer

Fun on the field, free on the wide! To the blue stripe of the distant forest, multi-colored fields seem to run along the hills.

The golden rye is agitated; she inhales the strengthening air. Young oats turn blue; blooming buckwheat with red stems, with white-pink honey flowers, turns white. Curly peas hid farther from the road, and behind them a pale green strip of flax with bluish eyes. On the other side of the road, the fields turn black under the flowing steam.

The lark flutters over the rye, and the sharp-winged eagle vigilantly looks from above: he sees the noisy quail in the thick rye, he sees the field mouse as it hurries into its hole with a grain that has fallen from a ripe ear. Hundreds of invisible grasshoppers crackle everywhere.

(K. Ushinsky)

Water

(Slovenian folk tale)

One boy was very fond of swimming. And even in the flood, when the river swelled and rose, he did not sit at home, did not obey his father and mother, and ran away to swim. Undressed on the shore and jumped into the water. A stormy current picked him up and carried him away. The boy struggled with the current with all his might, cutting through the waves, he swam with saplings, but he sees that he does not have enough strength. He started screaming and calling for help. The waterman heard him. And it’s good that I heard that the little swimmer had already choked and lost consciousness. When the water one arrived in time for the drowning man, he was already motionless, and the waves carried him farther and farther away. In truth, the merman could not stand it when one of the people fell to the bottom alive. But he liked the little swimmer. It was a pity to drown the child, and he decided to save him. In addition, the merman was tired of forever sitting alone in a vast kingdom, and he was delighted with a handsome boy who could now make him an excellent company.

The merman took the child in his arms and carried him to his beautiful city at the bottom of the river.

Never before has a living person fallen into his possessions - for the first time this happened. Put the water boy on the bed. Then he quietly walked away and hid, waiting for his little guest to wake up.

The boy woke up, looked around and saw that he was lying on a glass bed in the middle of a glass room. Near the bed there is a table, and on it are full of toys, and everything is made of crystal. The toys shimmered so temptingly and were so beautiful that the boy reached for them - he wanted to play. But at that moment he remembered his home and wept bitterly.

The merman ran up to him and asked:

What are you crying about, little one?

“I want to go home,” the boy sobbed.

“Is your home better than my hall?” the waterman was surprised.

- Better! The boy answered and cried even louder.

The waterman realized that all his consolations were in vain, and left. And the boy, having cried enough, fell asleep. Then the merman crept up to him on tiptoe and carried him to another room. The boy woke up, looked around and saw that he was lying on a silver bed in the middle of a silver room - the walls, and the floor, and the ceiling were silver, there was a silver table with toys by the bed, and all the toys were made of pure silver. Such wealth! How fascinated the boy looked at them. Then he took silver toys and began to play with them. But after a minute he got tired of the fun. He remembered how fun it was to mess around at home with his brother and sister, and wept uncontrollably.

What are you crying about, little one?

“I want to go to my brother and sister,” the boy answered, and sobbed even more.

The merman could not comfort him in any way and left. And the boy fell asleep. The merman again crept up to him on tiptoe and carried him into the third room. When the boy woke up, he saw that he was lying in a golden chamber on a bed of pure gold. Everything there was golden: the table, the chairs, and the toys. The boy was often told about magical treasures where gold is stored. But he never dreamed of such a radiance - it blinded his eyes! Fascinated, the boy took up toys made of pure gold. But they did not entertain him for long. The boy remembered his mother and father, and he began to cry again.

The waterman came running and asked:

“What are you crying about, my child?

“I want to go to my father and mother,” the boy said, sobbing louder and louder.

The merman was surprised - after all, he did not know what a father, mother, brothers and sisters were.

“Are your father and mother more valuable to you than pure gold?” he exclaimed.

“Higher,” said the boy.

The merman retired and collected all the pearls that the depths of his underwater kingdom concealed. Collected and poured out in front of the boy. The pile of pearls grew to the very ceiling, and the merman asked:

“Are your father and mother more valuable to you than such a pile of pearls?”

The boy closed his eyes so that the sparkle of treasures would not blind him. Around like a glow blazed; it looked like the room was on fire.

- You're working hard! - answered the boy. - All the same, you will not know the value of my father and mother. They are dearer to me than gold and pearls, dearer than anything in the world!

The waterman realized that he could not console the boy with anything, waited until the child fell asleep, carefully carried him sleepy out of the water and laid him on the shore. Here the owner was waiting for the poor clothes, which the boy threw off before jumping into the water. The merman found pockets in her, filled them with gold and pearls, and disappeared.

The boy woke up and saw that he was lying on the shore near the water. He got up and got dressed.

And then I remembered about the water and underwater kingdom. At first the boy thought that he had dreamed all this, but when he reached into his pocket and pulled out gold and pearls, he realized that it was not a dream, but the absolute truth. The boy rushed home to his father and mother, to his brother and sister, and found the whole family in tears: everyone already thought that he had drowned. But there was no end to the joy! Moreover, everything in the house now became enough, because the boy brought from the underwater kingdom of scat pearls and pure gold. The family said goodbye to poverty, learned prosperity. The lucky ones built a new house for themselves and lived happily ever after.

The boy still went to the river to swim, but now he no longer swam in flood. And in general, he tried to stick to shallow water - the waterman could not get there.

And the merman returned to his underwater kingdom saddened. He thought that he had collected in his possessions the most valuable treasures in the world. And suddenly it turned out that people have treasures more expensive than gold and pearls. People have father and mother, brothers and sisters. And there was no one at the water one! He became sad and wept for three days in a row; from his sobs the shores shook, and the waves roared, as if in a flood. Then the merman went to inspect every corner of his kingdom - maybe somewhere special treasures were hidden, which had not yet come across his eyes.

Shepherd and three mermaids

(Macedonian folk tale)

A young shepherd pastured his flock by the river, on a green meadow between oak forests. And then he sees - three beautiful girls are swimming in the river. The shepherd looked at them, he could not tear his eyes away. “If I were closer to them,” he thought, “I would seize one of the beauties and take it as my wife!”

And the girls bathed, quickly put on their shirts - and disappeared.

The next day, before dawn, the shepherd drove the flock to the same lawn. The sheep began to graze, and the shepherd hid at the edge of the oak forest - he still wanted to be closer to the river and get a better look at the bathers. Well, as the sun rose, three girls appeared and entered the water. But the shepherd did not dare to approach them, he was afraid to frighten them away.

The third morning has arrived. The shepherd again hid in the bushes near the water. The sun rose, and the girls appeared again by the river. Young, cheerful, like clear stars. They quickly undressed and entered the river. And the shepherd thinks how to catch at least one of the young beauties! And he decided to steal their clothes.

No sooner said than done! The shepherd came out of the ambush and stole the shirts. The girls saw this, got alarmed, began to ask the shepherd to return their clothes to them - they promised a big reward. And the shepherd already understood that the girls would fulfill any of his commands, and said:

Let one of you become my wife! And if you refuse, I will immediately make a fire and burn my shirts, you know that. Whatever you want then get home!

“Everything is clear to us, boy, but only you should know that we are mermaid sisters. If you get married, people will start to scoff, so, they say, what kind of wife you have - a vodka!

- Yes, even a witch! - said the boy. - What an importance! I want to get married! Agree, otherwise I'll burn my shirts.

The sisters saw that he was not joking.

- Well, tell us which one you liked, but return the shirts as soon as possible - it's time for us to return home, we live far away!

Give me the little one! the guy answered.

Then the older sisters took him aside and said:

- Remember! When your sister becomes your wife, don't give her a shirt, otherwise she'll run away. That shirt is magical, it has all the power of a mermaid.

The shepherd remembered that advice, gave the shirts to the older mermaid sisters, and they disappeared. And the youngest late in the evening, naked, entered the shepherd's house. The shepherd made her wedding dress and soon married her. He began to live with his wife, a mermaid, in the whole world there was no woman more beautiful than her.

How long, how fast - a year has flown by. And so they invited the shepherd and his wife to the wedding of one of the relatives. At the wedding, women began to dance, only the shepherd's wife refused. Everyone began to persuade her. She replied:

“In your opinion, I don’t know how, but as a mermaid, you can.” Yeah, the outfit just doesn't fit. Ask my husband to give me a mermaid shirt for a minute. Then I will show our dances.

Well, the women began to ask the shepherd! And that in any - it is impossible, and only. Women are more pestering, damned, they ask! The shepherd yielded to them, went home, took out a shirt from a secluded place, brought it to the wedding, ordered all the windows and doors to be closed, and gave the shirt to his wife.

She dressed, entered the round dance and began to dance like a mermaid. Everyone who was there could not stop looking at the beauty. But as soon as the music stopped, the mermaid ran up to her husband, took him by the hand, and said:

- Well, now - be healthy, my lord!

And it was like that - flew away. The guy, like a madman, immediately jumped out of the house and shouted after her:

Wife, dear wife! Why are you leaving me! Tell me at least a word, tell me where to look for you so that I can see you at least once!

- Look for me in a distant land, in the village of Kushkundalevo, dear husband! she said and disappeared.

Soon the shepherd went on his way to look for this village. For a long, long time he walked and asked everywhere if anyone knew how to get to that place.

But everyone just marveled at such a name - they say, they had never heard of him! Having traveled all the villages and all the cities, the boy went in search of mountains and deserts. One day he met an old man in the mountains, standing with a stick in his hand near a hundred-year-old oak.

- But how did you, son, wander into my wilderness? - the old man was surprised. - After all, here the rooster does not crow, and people do not come here!

- Trouble has driven me, grandfather, - said the shepherd. - Please, be my friend, help - do you know where there is such a village - Kushkundalevo? Maybe in these mountains hid?

“I haven’t heard, son, that there was such a village in our area,” the old man answered. “I’ve been living here for two hundred years, but I haven’t heard such a name. What do you need there, boy?

The shepherd told him everything that had happened. The old man thought, groaned, and answered:

“I didn’t hear, son. Just don't freak out, move on. You will reach other mountains in a month - and you will meet with the second old man, my brother, the same as

I. Say hello to him from me, because he is even older than I am, he is three hundred years old, and he is the king over all the animals. Ask him well, he will help.

- Well, you sit here, - the old man answered, - and I will gather all the animals, I will ask them - maybe they know.

And he sent messengers in all directions. Soon all the animals gathered, rose on their hind legs, and bowed to the old man. And the old man says:

“Hey you, lions and bears, foxes and wolves and all the animals of the forest, I want to ask you something. Often you run past villages - maybe you know the village of Kushkundalevo?

“We have never heard of such a thing, Father Tsar! All the animals answered.

- You see now! - said the old man to the shepherd. - There is no such village on earth! Just don't be sad, and if you're not too lazy, move on. You will reach new mountains in a month, you will see the third elder there - he is the lord of all birds. Birds fly everywhere - so maybe they know where your village is!

Again the shepherd went on his way. A month later, he really met with the third elder, the lord of birds. The shepherd bowed to him, conveyed greetings from the two elders, well, and then he told about his misfortune - everything as it is, without concealment. The old man sent swift-winged messengers for his feathered servants. The day just passed - and a huge flock gathered - all the birds flocked to the king!

“Tell me, eagles and crows, big and small birds, does anyone know where the village of Kushkundalevo is?”

“Sir, you haven’t heard! the birds answered.

“Yes... Probably, there isn’t one, lad,” the old man said to the shepherd. “Even the birds don’t know this, but they fly everywhere!” Yes, and I have not heard, even though I have been living in the world for four hundred years.

And just at that moment a lame magpie flew up to the king. The king saw her and asked:

— What is this? Why are you so late? Later than all the birds arrived. Is this the order, forty?

- Why, I'm lame, sir! answered the magpie. And I’ll fly farther than everyone else - I live far away, in Kushkundalevo itself, father, - where mermaids live! When I heard that you were calling, I was completely ready, but after all, I am with the mermaids in the maids. Here the evil mistress took it and hit me on the leg. I could hardly fly from pain, forgive me, bright king!

- Heard, boy, what the magpie said? - asked the old shepherd man. - Well, sit on the back of an eagle, and the magpie will show the way.

“Thank you, sir, I will never forget you!” replied the shepherd.

And the old man ordered one of the eagles - the one that is stronger than all the others - to carry the shepherd to Kushkundalevo. The magpie flew ahead, and behind it was a shepherd on an eagle. We flew to the village early in the morning, our guy got down from the eagle and entered the first courtyard to ask where the three sisters live. Luckily I got straight to them. In an instant both senior mermaids recognized him. "Ah ah ah! How exhausted the poor son-in-law was, wandering through the mountains and valleys, the sisters thought. The older sisters came out of the house and asked - how did it happen that he did not heed their advice and gave the magic shirt? The boy told in order how the trouble happened, and began to beg the two sisters to return his wife to him.

- Don't worry! Your wife is here in our house,” the sisters answered. “Take this saddle and follow us.” Your wife is still sleeping. We will tie her sleepy to the saddle and tie her. You will sit next to her, and the saddle will rise above the mountains. Just remember: as you take off, your sister will wake up and shout, she will call her horse. You try, son-in-law, to get to the three cherished mountains by that time. If you pass them, everything will be fine, if not, the horse will overtake you and tear you to pieces: it is magical!

The shepherd believed the two sisters, tied his wife to the saddle, sat down himself, took off, and they rushed off like a whirlwind. Three mountains passed, and then the mermaid suddenly woke up, realized what had happened, and began to call the horse. The horse rushed across the sky, but as soon as he reached the mountains, his magical power instantly disappeared, and he had to turn back. And the shepherd got to his native village, took off his wife's shirt and burned it so that the mermaid's strength disappeared. Well, he began to live, to live with his young mermaid wife. And she bore him daughters - beautiful, beautiful.

It was from these daughters that all the beauties that are in the world were led.

VIEWS OF THE SLAVES ON NATURE

Mother Earth Cheese lay in darkness and cold. She was dead - no light, no heat, no sounds, no movement. And the eternally young, eternally joyful bright Yar said: "Let's look through the pitch darkness at Mother Earth Cheese, is it good, is it good, will we have to think?"
The sweet speeches of the god of love, the eternally young god Yarila, are carried in sunny speeches: “Oh, you are a goy, Mother Earth Cheese! you will give birth to a myriad of lovely children from me ...
And everything lived, everything loved, and everything sang laudatory songs: father - Yarila, mother - Raw Earth.
And again, from the red sun, Yarila’s love speeches rush: “Oh, you are a goy, Mother Earth of Cheese! I decorated you with beauty, you gave birth to countless cute children, love me more than ever, give birth to my beloved offspring.”
Those speeches of the mother to the damp earth were love, she greedily drank the life-giving rays and gave birth to a man ... And when he came out of the bowels of the earth, Yarilo hit him on the head with a golden rein - a fierce lightning. And from that lightning the mind in man was born. Hello Yarilo beloved earthly son with heavenly thunders, streams of lightning.
Mother Earth Cheese is crying: “Oh, the sail of the wind! .. Why are you breathing on me with a hateful cold? .. Yarilino’s eye is a red sun! .. Why are you warming and shining not as before? my children to die, and again I lie in darkness and cold! .. And why did I recognize the light, why did I recognize life and love? .. Why was I recognized with clear rays, with hot kisses of the god Yarila? ..
Silent Yarilo.
“I don’t feel sorry for myself,” Mother Earth Cheese cries, shrinking from the cold, “mother’s heart mourns for dear children.”
Yarilo says: “Do not cry, do not grieve, Mother Earth Cheese, I leave you for a while. Do not leave you for a while - you will burn to the ground under my kisses. Keeping you and our children, I will reduce heat and light for a while, leaves will fall on the trees , grasses and cereals will wither, you will dress with a snow cover, you will sleep and rest until my arrival ... The time will come, I will send a messenger to you - Red Spring, after Spring I myself will come.
Mother Earth Cheese is crying: “You don’t pity me, poor Yarilo, you don’t pity, bright God, your children! - to perish before everyone else, when you deprive us of heat and light ... "
Yarilo sprinkled lightning on the stones, doused the oak trees with a burning look. And he said to Mother Raw Earth: “So I poured fire on stones and trees. I myself am in that fire. With his mind-mind, a person will reach how to take light and heat from wood and stone. That fire is a gift to my beloved son. will be in fear and horror, he alone will serve.
