On the International Mother Language Day, which we celebrate on February 21, events were held in children's library No. 3, branch libraries No. 7, No. 9.

“Native language, how beautiful you are!”

February 21 the whole world celebrates International Mother Language Day. On this day in children's library-branch №3 took place hour of literature "Native language, how beautiful you are!". Throughout the day, the children got acquainted with the dictionaries of the Russian language, the norms of speech etiquette, corrected grammatical errors, answered quiz questions prepared in advance on sheets, tried to complete well-known proverbs and aphorisms about the book, explained the meaning of phraseological turns.
From the story of the librarian, the children learned about the diversity of languages on the planet, that the native language is the character of the people, their memory, history, spiritual power. Language is not only a tool for communication between different people. The meaning of the native language in human life is much deeper and more important. This and much more was discussed at the event.

"Russian speech sovereign ..."

IN branch library №7 with students of 5-6 grades held library lesson "Russian speech sovereign, nicknamed Dictionary" dedicated to International Mother Language Day. The epigraph to the lesson was the words of K.G. Paustovsky "We have been given possession of the richest, most accurate, powerful and truly magical Russian language."

The presenter Grishina G.I. told the children how admiringly and respectfully the famous writers and philosophers treated the Russian language not only in Russia but also abroad, gave examples of their statements. Then the children learned about the famous compilers of Russian language dictionaries - V.I. Dale and S.I. Ozhegov, about their invaluable contribution to the development of linguistics and speech culture of our native language.

After listening to excerpts from poems by V. Soloukhin and V. Shefner about the significance and power of the language, the guys concluded that it is necessary to skillfully use the richness of the language in oral and written speech, to protect it.

The guys took part in a small quiz "Me and dictionaries", in which they had to answer questions about the purpose of various dictionaries, about a person's vocabulary and how to replenish it. During the event, the children got acquainted with various types of dictionaries.

The second part of the library lesson was practical. The children were offered tasks: using the explanatory dictionary to find the meanings of some words, using the etymological dictionary to find out the origin of the given words, insert the missing letters in the words, checking themselves in the spelling dictionary.

The cards were very interesting. In the first one, it was necessary to select its Russian equivalent for a foreign word, and in the other, to select the appropriate transcript for cards with phraseological phrases. All the guys did an excellent job.

All readers who visited the library that day got acquainted with the exhibition “Language is the confession of the people”, dedicated to our native Russian language.

“I bow my head before him again…”

February 21, on the International Mother Language Day, in the assembly hall of the gymnasium No. 11 for students of grades 7A and 7B (56 people) the team library-branch №9 spent literary linguistic evening “I bow my head before him again - His Majesty, our native word!”. The purpose of the holiday was to preserve and support the Russian language as a national treasure of Russia.

During the linguistic evening, quotes, statements and poems about the Russian language by prominent figures (A.S. Pushkin, E. Rotterdamsky, V.I. Dahl, N.V. Gogol, I.S. Turgenev) were heard, and students showed excellent knowledge and genuine interest in the native language.
The event was accompanied by a multimedia presentation.

Mother tongue is your soul, your world, your beam,

Love him for being powerful.
Your language is a shield, your communication
Don't disrespect him.

Each nation is a unique culture, history, traditions, way of life. And, of course, the language. Preserving the language base of both a large nation and the smallest nation is a very important task. International Mother Language Day, established in 1999 by the decision of the 30th session of the General Conference of UNESCO and celebrated annually on February 21 since 2000, is aimed primarily at protecting endangered languages, to promote linguistic and cultural diversity and multilingualism.

And this task is important and relevant, because even now, according to statistics, Approximately two languages disappear every month in the world.

In revolutionary Russia in 1917, there were 193 languages, and at the time of the signing of the agreement on the collapse of the USSR in December 1991 - only 40. An average of two languages disappeared annually. Currently, 136 languages are in danger of extinction in Russia, and 20 have already been declared dead.

According to UNESCO, there are 6,000 living languages. Half of them are on the verge of extinction. 96% of languages are spoken by only 4% of the population. 80% of African languages are not written. A dozen languages die out every year, and this trend will intensify in the future. This day was established to promote the recognition and use of the native language, especially the languages of national minorities.

Disappearing dialects.

Speaking in the language of statistics, today, out of the six thousand languages existing in the world, more than two hundred are considered extinct, they do not have a single living carrier. There is also an unfavorable linguistic category of endangered and endangered types of speech (with almost no descendants who speak them). And unstable languages that are not successful because they do not have an official status, and the territory of their distribution is so small that the prospects for their further existence leave much to be desired. We repeat that in Russia about 140 languages are on the verge of falling into disuse, and twenty have already been declared lifeless. In 2009, UNESCO recognized 136 languages in Russia as endangered.

Each of the peoples has its own unique and inimitable language, which meets the destiny of man and carries a whole heritage. The inhabitants of a particular state have their own characteristics, traditions, culture, and the language is their direct reflection. It conveys the whole identity of the people, so the native language is a subject for real pride. Mother tongue day is a very important and necessary holiday.

“Language is a test of the spiritual strength of the people. The spiritually poor people have a poor language, - so wrote Ivan Shmelev , a native speaker of a pure and rich Russian language, as if foreseeing the current impoverishment, interconnected impoverishment and desecration of the language, of all spiritual forces. Explanatory Dictionary of the Living Great Russian Language IN AND. Dalia speaks of the language as "a dialect that has taken precedence over other, related dialects." “Language is a people, a land, with its same tribe population, with the same speech,” he develops the age-old concept.

Each native language carries its own characteristics and culture. It distinguishes nations, makes people appreciate and respect their indigenous style of speech, pass it on from generation to generation. Therefore, mother tongue day should certainly be supported as an international holiday, encouraged and held at the proper level in all countries of the world.

"Language is the history of the people. Language is the path to the civilization of culture: that is why the study and preservation of the Russian language is not an idle occupation from nothing to do, but an urgent need." (Alexander Ivanovich Kuprin)

"To write well, one must know one's native language well." (Maksim Gorky)

"The Russian people created the Russian language - bright, like a rainbow after a spring shower, accurate as arrows, melodious and rich, sincere, like a song over a cradle: What is the Motherland? This is the whole people. This is their culture, their language. (Alexey Nikolaevich Tolstoy)

"Take care of our language, our beautiful Russian language, this treasure, this state passed on to us by our predecessors. Treat this powerful tool with respect: in the hands of the skilled, it is able to perform miracles!" ( Ivan Sergeevich Turgenev )

Mother tongue day in Russia

In our country, love for the native language can be compared with a feeling of true patriotism that permeates everything and each of us. Especially if we are talking about primordially Slavic values, to which we can confidently include the Russian language. There are many different worthy statements about the Russian word, but no one has expressed it better than the classics on this topic. The most accurate sayings and clearly reflecting our spirit of patriotism include the words of the great Russian writer I. S. Turgenev, who said: "... you are my only support and support, O great, mighty, truthful and free Russian language." Or is it enough to recall a decisive statement V. G. Belinsky , he claimed that "Russian is one of the richest languages in the world, and there is no doubt about it." Perhaps it is difficult to disagree with these brilliant people, because thanks to our language we think, communicate, create. The holiday is celebrated annually on February 21st. Today it is important to study and love the native language. After all, language is a whole world full of charm, charm and magic. He is the living memory of the people, his soul, his heritage.

And how beautifully the Russian writer, historian said about his native language Nikolai Mikhailovich Karamzin:“Let there be honor and glory to our language, which flows like a proud, majestic river - rustles, thunders - suddenly, if necessary, softens, murmurs in a gentle stream and sweetly flows into the soul.”

Agree, friends, it's nice to listen to the correct, beautiful and smooth speech. Involuntarily remember the lines Alexander Sergeevich Pushkin about the swan princess: “It speaks sweetly, as if the river is murmuring.” After all, in fact, human speech resembles the murmur of a river. Not without reason, “speech” and “river” are words that arose from the same root.

In February, we, like the entire world community, celebrate Mother Language Day.

They will ask me: what is like the sea?

- Russian language, - I will not delay with the answer.

He is like the sea, warm in winter,

Freshness will give a dry summer.

Russian language is a boundless sea!

In the depths of the sea I waited for the catch,

Caught the key that opens the joy -

This key was the Russian word...

On International Mother Language Day, all languages are recognized as equal because each language fulfills a human purpose in a unique way, and each represents a living heritage that we must take seriously and protect.

Recognition and respect for all languages is the key to keeping the peace. Each language is unique. It has its own expressions that reflect the mentality and customs of the people. Like our name, we acquire our mother tongue from our mother during childhood. It forms our consciousness, impregnates it with the culture embedded in it.

Schoolchildren thought about language as a means of communication and culture of communication. The statements of outstanding writers L. Tolstoy, K. Paustovsky, M. (International Mother Language Day), proclaimed by the General Conference of UNESCO in 1999, has been celebrated annually since 2000 to promote linguistic and cultural diversity and multilingualism.

In turn, the UN General Assembly in its resolution declared 2008 the International Year of Languages. 2010 was proclaimed the International Year for the Rapprochement of Cultures.

The date for the Day was chosen to commemorate the events that took place in Dhaka (now the capital of Bangladesh) in 1952, when students who demonstrated in defense of their native language Bengali, which they demanded to be recognized as one of the state languages of the country, were killed by police bullets.

Languages are the most powerful tool for preserving and developing our material and spiritual heritage. UNESCO estimates that half of the world's approximately 6,000 languages may soon lose their last native speakers.

Shaheed Minar (Martyrs' Monument) at Dhaka University in Bangladesh, commemorating those killed in a Bengali language movement demonstration on February 21, 1952.

All steps to promote the spread of mother tongues serve not only to promote linguistic diversity and multilingual education, to develop a fuller acquaintance with linguistic and cultural traditions around the world, but also to strengthen solidarity based on mutual understanding, tolerance and dialogue.

On February 21, 2003, on the occasion of the International Mother Language Day, UNESCO Director-General K. Matsuura noted: “Why is so much attention paid to the native language? Because languages constitute a unique expression of human creativity in all its diversity. As a tool for communication, perception and reflection, language also describes how we see the world and reflects the connection between past, present and future. Languages bear traces of chance encounters, various sources from which they were saturated, each according to its own separate history.

Native languages are unique in the way they leave an imprint on each person from the moment of birth, giving him a special vision of things that will never really disappear, despite the fact that a person subsequently masters many languages. Learning a foreign language is a way to get acquainted with a different vision of the world, with other approaches".

And every year, as part of the celebration of Mother Language Day, various events are held in different countries dedicated to a specific theme and aimed at promoting respect, as well as the promotion and protection of all languages (especially languages \u200b\u200bthat are on the verge of extinction), linguistic diversity and multilingualism. Thus, in different years, the Day was devoted to the following topics: the relationship between the native language and multilingualism, especially in education; Braille system and sign language; raising public awareness of linguistic and cultural traditions based on mutual understanding, tolerance and dialogue; protection of the intangible heritage of mankind and the preservation of cultural diversity; the role of the language taught in schools and others.

Mother tongue day is a very important and necessary holiday.

background

Like any celebration, this one has its own historical background. His celebration was made possible by the events that took place in 1952 in Pakistan. Those from the University of Dhaka took part in a demonstration against the Urdu language. The majority spoke the Bengali dialect, so it was this language that the protesters demanded to recognize as the state language. However, they not only did not listen to them, but also began to shoot. As a result, four student activists were killed. After the death of these and other inhabitants of Pakistan, as well as a number of unrest and liberation movements, Bengali was declared the official language in the country. The struggle for the right to use the manner of communication familiar from childhood was crowned with success. Subsequently, on the initiative (recognized in 1971 by an independent state), UNESCO proclaimed the date February 21 as International Mother Language Day, which has been celebrated annually around the world for 14 years.

How this day is celebrated in different countries

Mother tongue day is not in vain recognized as international. It is celebrated in many states. In some of them, the people adhere to certain orders and traditions in celebrating, in others - every time everything goes according to a completely new plan. Let's take a look at a few of these countries that come to mind first.

Bangladesh

I really want to touch on this particular country, because here the day of the native language is considered a national holiday, since the anniversary of February 21 became a turning point in the fate of people and in the history of the whole country. As a rule, the inhabitants of Bengal organize a festive procession on this day, lay flowers in memory of the martyrs in Dhaka (at the Shahid Minar monument), and sing patriotic songs. A cultural program, festive dinners, and prizes are awarded at the city's venues. There is also a special ritual associated with this great day for the Bengalis. They buy special glass bracelets for themselves and their relatives, thereby emphasizing their attachment to their native language and paying tribute to the national traditions and history of their country.

International Mother Language Day in Bangladesh is a special holiday. Every year, any event dedicated to the day of the native language is prepared with special scope and honors. The government and non-governmental organizations of the country in every possible way encourage the holding of various kinds of events, trying to support the love of fellow citizens for their native language, and they also do this with the aim of preserving and further developing the indigenous speech.

Switzerland

Let's touch Europe. For example, in Switzerland on February 21 Mother Language Day is celebrated in an educational spirit. Promotions, practical classes, numerous seminars are held. Particularly acute in this country is the issue of families in which children speak two languages and both are native to them. The authorities, teachers and parents are well aware that such children need a special approach, therefore, individual programs for training and educating the younger generation are being developed in the country, which are being successfully implemented.

English-speaking countries

In many countries of Europe and not only (England, Ireland, Singapore, Jamaica, Malta, New Zealand, and even on the whole mainland, and therefore native, English is. We must admit that it, in fact, is included therefore, it has the most direct relation to the holiday. At any negotiations, travel and just in communication, he will be your main lifesaver.

Each language is beautiful and beautiful in its own way, so you should not forget it, love it, cherish it and be proud of it!

Mother tongue day in Russia

In our country, love for the native language can be compared with a feeling of true patriotism that permeates everything and each of us. Especially if we are talking about primordially Slavic values, to which we can confidently include the Russian language.

Perhaps it is difficult to disagree with these brilliant people, because thanks to our language we think, communicate, create.

In our country, mother tongue day, the scenario of which is carefully thought out and prepared in advance, is held in many schools, libraries, palaces of culture, higher educational institutions and other educational institutions. Students carefully select the key in which the topic will be covered, learn words, rehearse. All scheduled events, as a rule, are of a solemn, patriotic and educational nature. They are held with the aim of instilling in children a sense of respect and love for their culture, history, traditions and, of course, for their native Russian language.

Disappearing dialects

Speaking in the language of statistics, today, out of the six thousand languages existing in the world, more than two hundred are considered extinct, they do not have a single living carrier. There is also an unfavorable linguistic category of endangered and endangered types of speech (with almost no descendants who speak them). Therefore, mother tongue day should certainly be supported as an international holiday, encouraged and held at the proper level in all countries of the world.
