Organization history

The first step aimed at protecting the nature of the region was the formation in Borovoe in 1898 of the State Forestry. In 1920, Borovoye was nationalized and recognized as a resort of national importance. In 1935, the Borovoe State Reserve was organized. In 1951, the reserve was liquidated, and the Borovsk forestry was formed instead. By Decree of the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan dated May 6, 1997 No. 787, Borovskoye forestry was transformed into a state institution "Natural and recreational forest complex" Burabay "". In 2000, by Decree of August 12, No. 1246, the state institution “State National Natural Park “Burabay”” was established on an area of 83,511 hectares, of which 47,600 hectares are covered with forest. In 2010, the area of the park was expanded to 129,935 hectares. In 2012, 370 hectares were transferred to the category of reserve lands.

Flora and fauna

757 species of plants grow on the territory. 119 of them need protection. 12 are listed in the Red Book. 65% of all woody vegetation is pine, 31% birch, 3% aspen and 1% shrubs.

Due to the diversity of the flora, the fauna is very rich: 305 species of animals live here, which is 36% of the entire fauna of Kazakhstan, and 40% of them live here on the borders of their habitats, 13 species are listed in the Red Book.

The fauna of Burabay is much richer than in the surrounding steppes. A mixture of elements of the fauna of the steppes, forests and mountains is characteristic. Both European and Siberian species, representatives of typical northern and southern animal species, are found here.

The Burabai State National Nature Park is located 250 kilometers from the capital of Kazakhstan, Astana, but we started our journey from the city of Kokshetau, which is 70 kilometers from the resort area. The highway is high-speed, wide, asphalt is the dream of a motorist, the flow of cars is small.

Outside the city, an endless steppe with small hills opens up and the mountains of Kokshetau are visible in the haze, where we headed. At the exit from the city, we noticed a small parking lot with a huge monument - a horse, of course, we stopped.

The road to Borovoye is boring at first glance, but it takes not much time, about 40 minutes. Fields of grain and sunflowers stretch along the road, but we did not stop. In the middle of the way, we met a couple of sandy hills, which marmots chose to live in. These rodents were listed in the Red Book, because the Kazakhs use marmot fat as a cough medicine and shamelessly destroyed them for some time. Now marmots are not afraid of anyone and bask in the sun right by the road.

On the way there is a traffic police post, where speed reduction is mandatory, video cameras are installed, heavy trucks are checked, and almost no attention is paid to passenger cars. From the post we turned left and headed towards the mountains. The road is still of the same quality, I liked that it was clean around, no garbage on the roadsides, there are signs. On the first hill, almost like in Hollywood, in huge white letters is the inscription "Protect the forest from fire." At the entrance to the mountains there was a barrier. We learned that the fare is paid for everyone, except for the residents of Borovoe itself, they check documents for a place of residence. The payment is not large, they argued that exhaust gases spoil the environment, but they did not explain how they restore this environment for money, they gave a ticket with the date and let them through.

Almost immediately behind the checkpoint there is a small pond. We did not dare to swim, very overgrown, but picturesque! Perfect for a halt.

After that, the road went into the forest between the mountains. The forest is predominantly of pine and birch, and the trees grow mixed, which is extremely rare. We drove slowly, the track is narrow and with very sharp turns, it can be easy to get sick on such a road if you drive fast. Yes, and it is dangerous to rush in an unfamiliar place. They did not stop anywhere, although they noticed mushrooms on the roadsides, apparently few people from local mushroom pickers get there.

A few kilometers later, we drove to a fork and went to the left, where the mountains are. A hundred meters from the fork there was a parking lot, where there was a sightseeing bus and several cars with ribbons, a wedding cortege. It turned out that the parking lot has a comfortable gazebo, a toilet and an observation deck. Everything is free. The observation deck is made in the form of a huge white shell, as the guide said - this is a symbol of the fact that there are many lakes in the park (about 70).

It offers a view of the mountains, overheard the legend of the Sleeping Knight. One of the mountains clearly resembles the profile of a Kazakh batyr lying on his back. According to legend, he saved his family from the army attacking from the steppe, lay down and turned to stone. The army was cavalry and could not overcome the stony and wooded mountains and retreated. They didn’t become impudent, they didn’t pay for the tour, so we drove on. The track went further downhill towards the mountains, smooth as an arrow. We noticed an interesting illusion, if you look at the mountains lying in front and drive towards them, it seems that they are not approaching, but on the contrary, they are moving away.

At the foot of the mountains, the track again twisted, interesting stones came across along the sides, one looked like a crawling crocodile, then two heaps were noticed, one to one - camels. There was also a bus standing there, we decided to find out what interesting things are being shown to tourists. It turned out that 200 meters from the road deep into the forest there is a large spring, the Imanaevsky Key. It originates in the mountains, and in this place flows down over the stones like a small waterfall. Very nice! The water was allowed to drink, we moved upstream, the taste was sweetish, crystal clear, we did not notice any problems with digestion after that. We wandered through the stony hills, picked ferns, mushrooms met worms.

The next stop literally a kilometer away was another parking lot. The place is called Polyana Ablai Khan. Everything is equipped, there are a lot of people, the car can only be parked for 30 minutes, completely free of charge, then a fine is imposed. Near the parking lot there is a restaurant and historical museum named after Ablai Khan, a tent with drinks. From the color - you can take a picture with a real falcon on your hand or in the Kazakh national costume. Prices are quite reasonable in the photo, but water is more expensive than gasoline.

Paths, several benches, rubbish bins everywhere are paved on the clearing, it's cozy. In the center of the clearing there is a tall white stele with an eagle on top, which means they didn’t find anyone to ask. The paths all lead somewhere into the forest, we decided to find out. It turned out that behind the first pine trees there is a fenced heap of stones, called the Throne of Ablai Khan, which seems to be a historically significant place. There is a belief that if you make a wish and go around the throne three times, then the wish will come true. They throw coins on the stones, like in a fountain, to return.

The mountains are amazing, although not high. Sharp peaks like fangs, stone and pines. The air is delightful, during the day it smelled of warm resin from the heat.

We went further, the road was horrified by turns, on one side the stones were hanging, but everything is fenced, in principle - it is safe, if it is on the sly. Soon Lake Borovoe appeared on the right side with its famous "floating" rock Zhumbaktas. There was no parking, we stopped for a while in the wrong place, at the side of the road, seduced by the view.

On the other side of the bay, they found paid parking, a restaurant, a hotel, a boat station, and even a bus stop. For 1000 tenge per hour you can take a catamaran for 4 people and swim around the Zhumbaktas rock.

Then the road went along the shore of the lake with small parking lots for 2-3 cars and steps to the water. Everything is safe, beautiful, clean. After 2 kilometers we reached the next checkpoint, entry to the village is free, paid travel is only through the resort area.

The village is small, well-groomed, high-rise buildings, numerous cafes, people in beach suits, it is inconvenient to drive, traffic is difficult. We parked near the market for free.

The market is small, but there is nothing there. Souvenirs, clothes, food, drinks, Asian fast food (samsa, chebureks, etc.), open cafes, fruits, mushrooms and the most interesting - freshly smoked fish and boiled crayfish from local lakes. The prices are decent, but everything is tasty and really fresh.

Opposite the market exit to the sandy beach. View of the mountains, the water is warm, we decided to swim. Refreshed and having a snack, we went to the Museum of Nature, 100 meters from the market. It turned out that the museum and the zoo are in the same place, the payment for everything together is 450 tenge for an adult ticket. Bears laugh! There are not many animals: deer, roe deer, foxes, wolves, small rodents, porcupine, yaks, silver fox, peacock, large birds of prey, bears, swans, cranes. There are several halls with stuffed animals behind glass in the museum building. Tree species, minerals, insects collected in the park are presented. Everywhere descriptions, comfortable and stylish.

After the museum, we decided to eat and start on the way back. We had a bite to eat in one of the open cafes, we left by the same route. At the checkpoint for the second time, they didn’t take money from us, they let us through using the same ticket.

In both directions, the distance turned out to be approximately 160 kilometers, about 2,000 tenge were spent on gasoline. At the checkpoint they gave 450 tenge for a pass and 450 tenge for 3 tickets to the museum. The prices in the cafe are reasonable, they met 6 thousand with barbecue, salads and drinks. And about 2,000 was spent on fish and souvenirs. Roughly speaking, a day of rest cost $100.

We asked some locals about housing prices. Hotels are expensive, apartments are also not cheap, the best option for spending the night is camping. 2 000 tenge per person per day on average. Let's try to go skiing in the winter.

The nature of the Borovoe National Natural Park consists of several lakes and a forest, 70% of which consists of pines. The Kazakh name Burabay is less known in our country. In addition, the lake that gave the name to the entire park remained Borovoe.

To return here, they throw not only coins. The tradition of hanging ribbons is very active. It is also very convenient to go to the observation deck. Why? I will tell you in this report!

1. We are located near the village of Burabay on a plot of land between the lakes Borovoe and Bolshoye Chebache. People come here to relax. There is a parking lot, but it's busy.

2. Any route can be used to climb the mountain. It's very hard to get lost.

3. Feel free to divide the upward movement into two parts. First, a steep slope and a large number of large stones.

4. There is only one most trodden path here. It sometimes has traffic jams. Especially there you see people descending in ... flip flops! On the stones in flip flops! Well done man! What are you teaching children?

5. While I skip those descending, I look at the neighboring peaks.

6. For the convenience of climbing, white marks are drawn on the trees. Getting lost, as I said, is very difficult. But there are unique people on Earth, aren't there?

7. The second part of the climb is much more gentle. There are no small stones here. There are no cool places. Smooth rise and many roots, which are convenient to cling to with your feet if you are in comfortable shoes.

8. That's the whole climb! An observation deck awaits you on it, from where you can see the Blue Bay of Lake Borovoe. Lonely rock - Okzhetpes. To the right at the very beginning of the mountain range are the rocks "Three Sisters".

9. And the observation deck, by the way, is quite well-groomed. It is convenient to walk here. There is nothing under your feet. But how can this be?

10. And like this! Just before the ascent, every tourist sees a huge mountain of stones. Some time ago, a story was invented: if you take a stone from the top and bring it to the beginning of the ascent, your wish will come true. So they brought everything that was under their feet! Now there are simply no such stones at the top.

11. And now about the place where we are. We are on Mount Bolektau. This is the most comfortable and easiest mountain to climb in the area. It has a beautiful view of the Blue Bay of Lake Borovoe. The lake itself goes to the left side of the frame.

12. To the right you can often see Lake Bolshoye Chebache. It has mellowed out in recent years. The reasons are unknown to me.

13. Ribbons, rags or any other fabric are left as a keepsake.

14. Someone does it in dangerous places.

15. But mostly on the nearest pines.

16. But in what quantity!

17. Maybe someone from the next group will leave a ribbon? There are many who rise. We saw several groups. The location is convenient for many.

18. A group of tourists laughs at the abyss)

19. But a beautiful shot!

20. Someone is waving to the copter shooting from the air. Hope to make history.

21. Take a picture like me on the edge of a cliff.

22. On this rise ended. If you are in Burabay - be sure to stop by! Very nice! You can move a little away from the crowd and sit on the edge with a beautiful view of the lake.

National natural park "Burabay"

The park was created in 2000 and is located in the north of the Akmola region, a two-hour drive from the capital of Kazakhstan. In 2010, the area of the park was expanded to 130,000 hectares. 1370 hectares of land have been transferred to the reserve category.

Burabay is a recreational pearl of Kazakhstan, located in a fantastic mountainous area filled with magnificent pine forests, huge rocks surrounded by clear lakes. Geographically, this corner of nature is called the Kokshetau Upland, and the population of the country calls it “Kazakh Switzerland”.

The territory of the park is part of the Kokshetau steppe, forest-steppe upland. The modern landscape structure of the park is represented by steppe, lake, forest, forest-steppe landscapes.

There are 14 lakes in the park. But the hallmark of the park is the lake of the same name, which attracts tourists the most.

757 species of plants grow in the park, 119 of them need protection. 12 are listed in the Red Book. 65% of all woody vegetation is Pine, 31 %- Birch tree, 3 % - aspen and 1% - shrubs.

Due to the diversity of the plant world is very rich fauna: 305 species of animals live here, which is 36% of the entire fauna of Kazakhstan, 13 species are listed in Red Book Republic of Kazakhstan.

The fauna of Burabay is much richer than in those around it steppes. Both European and Siberian species, representatives of typical northern and southern animal species, are found here. Currently, in the forests of Burabay are found deer, Elk, boar, roe, squirrel, ermine, weasel, pine marten. From predators meet Wolf And Lynx. In the steppe and forest-steppe are often found foxes, corsacs, ferrets and hares - hare And hare, common in forests badger.

The mountain wealth of the surroundings of Burabay reveals unexpected secrets to you. Among them is the picturesque rock O?zhetpes (translated from Kazakh as "inaccessible to an arrow"), and the rock Zhumba?tas rising directly from the water of the bay (translated from Kazakh as "Stone-mystery") resembles a mysterious sphinx, which is interesting because if you look at him from different angles, you can see the face of a girl with flowing hair, then a woman, and finally an old woman.
