Jelly from jam and gelatin can not only be quickly prepared from available ingredients, but also served in an interesting and unusual way. There can be just as many recipes for healthy sweets as you have homemade jams and preserves, with or without berries!

This unusual jam dessert is good to serve on its own, if you layer it with milk, yogurt or other types of fruit or berry jelly. You can also decorate cakes and pastries with it - it’s not as difficult as it seems!

Ingredients

  • Gelatin - 20 g (or 2 packs)+ -
  • Jam - 3/4 cup + -
  • - 1 liter + -

Preparation

This is a basic recipe, once you have mastered it, you can easily vary and supplement the basic composition, as well as experiment with form and serving. Let’s make a reservation right away: all ingredients are indicated in approximate quantities and should be prepared based on taste preferences and strictly following the instructions on the gelatin bags. It happens that we have a more concentrated product and then instead of 1 tablespoon, 1 teaspoon is enough. Sometimes he needs to stand for 30 minutes, and sometimes 5 is enough.

  1. We soak the gelatin in the proportion indicated on the package, usually 1:6, and leave it to swell.

It is best to do this in a small metal bowl, since immediately after the time has elapsed, we will put it on the fire.

  1. We dilute the jam with water to the desired taste, remember that a chilled dessert becomes less sweet.

If necessary, strain it through cheesecloth. It is better to do this with jams made from black or red currants, raspberries or apples, so that the resulting compote is without pulp and cake.

  1. Then, heat the swollen gelatin until completely dissolved, stirring continuously and making sure that it does not boil under any circumstances, otherwise the gelling properties will disappear.
  2. We filter it through a sieve to avoid undissolved lumps and pour it into the jam juice. We pour everything into molds or fill one large cake pan.

It will be easiest to remove the jelly from silicone molds, but metal or plastic ones will need to be lowered into warm water for a few seconds so that the mass moves away from the edges.

  1. We put everything in the cold for 3 – 6 hours. If the weather allows, we put it on the balcony; if it’s warm outside, we first cool the jelly at room temperature, and then put it in the cold.

Serve dessert garnished with whipped cream or fresh berries and fruits.

Ideas for creative writers

We looked at a recipe for making jelly from jam, which requires straining - we, of course, do not return the cake to it.

But if we have a transparent cherry syrup with neat berries or apricot jam with delicious halves floating in front of us, we can catch them and arrange them beautifully at the bottom of the mold before pouring the jelly into it.

  • In addition, fruit and jam can be combined! For example, if we don’t have suitable berries from blackcurrant juice, we can line the bottom of the mold with banana or kiwi slices, fill them to 2-3 cm and cool.

  • Then, put the sultana grapes, pour a few centimeters of jelly again and let it harden again.

Repeat the procedure with different fruits until there is no more space in the mold. Then add the rest of the fruit drink With gelatin and refrigerate for several hours. This way we will get a wonderful fruit jelly from jam.

Layered dessert

We make a multi-layer dessert in the same way.

  1. For 2 packets of gelatin, take ½ cup of one jam, ½ cup of another and a glass of fruit yogurt.
  2. We select jams or jams of contrasting colors to make the jelly look more attractive. For example, cherry and apple or apricot and raspberry.
  3. We soak the gelatin, dilute the fruit drinks and, if necessary, filter.
  4. Dissolve the gelling mass and measure out 1/3 of it. We add it to the fruit drink, which will become our top layer.
  5. If desired, add fruit or fresh berries, pour it in and let it “set.”
  6. The second layer will be yogurt to create an alternation of not only color stripes, but also flavors.
  7. We do the same with the 3rd layer. After we remove the jelly from the mold, we will see a very beautiful, absolutely natural and useful product. It can be served with ice cream, milkshake or fruit. Enjoy it friends!

Layers of cherry jam with chocolate mousse or apricot with coffee or yoghurt go well together.

In addition to being a separate dish, we use jam jelly as a decoration.

  1. It will be especially delicious paired with homemade cheesecake. For this we need a springform pan.
  2. We use 400 g of crushed shortbread cookies as the bottom layer or bake a thin sponge cake, this option is less calorie.
  3. Place 450 - 500 g of cottage cheese on top, mixed with a glass of heavy cream and 15 g of gelatin dissolved directly in it.
  4. Due to the fact that there will be no excess liquid in the cottage cheese - only cream and no water, it will “set” very quickly.
  5. Place fruit or assorted fruits on the frozen cheesecake and pour in jelly from ½ cup of any jam and 1 tbsp. water.
  6. After 2 - 3 hours, when the jelly has hardened for sure, remove the cake from the mold and serve, cutting into portions.
