On the day she came of age, Albina decided to make herself unusual gift. I went to a fortune teller. In the seventies of the last century, of course, no one was officially allowed to engage in fortune telling. But Albina’s friend knew this strange woman and arranged a meeting behind the scenes. She did not take money for fortune telling. “God gave me this ability to help people and prevent them from doing stupid things,” she explained when Albina tried to hand her three rubles at a meeting, a lot of money at that time, especially for a young girl earning 70 rubles a month. But Albina left the fortune teller disappointed. She told her some nonsense, or at least that’s what the girl thought then. “You will have a beloved man, but you will separate. He will go to live overseas, and you will meet him many years later in America, at your son’s wedding.” What an ocean, what America, because even a trip to Bulgaria or Mongolia in those days was an impossible dream for a simple Soviet citizen. The fortune telling was quickly forgotten.

Alya graduated from culinary school and worked in a factory stem department. She managed to be married, give birth to a son and get divorced. One day, specialists came to the plant to set up the latest CNC machines. Her friend Masha helped her be “on top” on her first date.
