Patience in our life. Patience is an important quality of every person. Where to “pick up” patience and who needs it? Absence of troubles is a cause for concern

Praise be to Allah, the Lord of the worlds, peace and blessings of Allah be upon our prophet Muhammad, members of his family and all his companions!

Patience ( sabr) is one of those good qualities that Allah encouraged in His great Book and His Messenger (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) in his Sunnah. Word sabr has been mentioned one hundred and four times in the Qur'an regarding various reasons and provisions.

Allah Almighty ordered His Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) to be patient, saying:

“Therefore, be patient, for your patience comes only from Allah...”(An-Nakhl, 16:127).

“Be patient, as the strong-willed messengers endured...”(Al-Ahkaf, 46:35).

Allah Almighty also ordered believers to be patient. He said:

“O you who believe! Be patient, be patient, serve at the outposts and fear Allah, perhaps you will succeed” (Ali Imran, 3:200).

Allah Almighty said, praising those who are patient:

“But he is godly... who is patient in need, in sickness, and in battle. These are the ones that are true. Such are the pious” (Al-Baqarah, 2:177).

He is Holy and Mighty, noted that He loves the patient and helps them:

"Allah loves the patient"(Ali Imran, 3:146).

(Al-Anfal, 8:46).

Allah Almighty also noted that the manifestation of patience is better for the one who shows it:

“But if you are patient, it will be better for those who are patient.”(An-Nakhl, 16:126).

Also, Allah Almighty promised the patient a reward that will be better and will exceed the reward for their deeds. He said:

“And to those who showed patience, We will certainly reward them for the best of what they did.”(An-Nakhl, 16:96).

“Indeed, those who are patient will receive their reward completely without any account.”(Az-Zumar, 39:10).

Allah Almighty also pleases the patient by saying:

“Give joy to those who are patient ( who are patient when tested (Al-Baqarah, 2:155).

Allah Almighty also speaks about rewarding the patient with Paradise:

“And because they showed patience, He will reward them with Gardens of Eden and silks.”(Al-Insan, 76:12).

Allah Almighty mentioned patience along with other great religious deeds. From what was mentioned along with patience, we learn from the Quran:

  • Belief ( Yakin)

“We created leaders among them who led the rest according to Our command to the straight path, because they were patient and confidently believed in Our signs” (As-Sajdah, 32:24).

  • Hope ( tawakkul)

“Those who believe and do righteous deeds, We will certainly place them in upper rooms in Paradise, in which rivers flow. They will be there forever. How wonderful is the reward of the workers who were patient and trusted in their Lord!” (Al-Ankabut, 29:58-59).

  • Prayer ( fireworks)

“O you who believe! Seek help from patience and prayer. Indeed, Allah is with those who are patient."(Al-Baqarah, 2:153).

  • Piety ( takua)

“But if you are patient and fearful of God, their wiles will not cause you any harm. Indeed, Allah comprehends everything they do” (Ali Imran, 3:120).

“But if you are patient and fearful of God, then you must be decisive in these matters.”(Ali Imran, 3:186).

“Indeed, if anyone is God-fearing and patient, then Allah does not lose the reward of those who do good.”(Yusuf, 12:90).

  • Righteous Deeds

“And only those who endured and did good deeds are destined for forgiveness and a great reward.”(Hood 11:11).

  • Jihad

“Verily, after all this, your Lord forgives and has mercy on those who migrated after being tempted, and then fought and showed patience” (An-Nahl, 16:110).

“We will certainly put you to the test until we recognize those of you who fight and are patient, and until we test your messages” (Muhammad, 47:31).

  • Turning to Allah for forgiveness ( istighfar) and remembrance of Allah ( tasbih)

“Be patient, for the promise of Allah is true. Seek forgiveness for your sin and glorify your Lord with praise in the afternoon and in the morning” (Al-Mumin, 40:55).

“Be patient until the decision of your Lord, for you are before Our Eyes. Glorify your Lord with praise when you rise from sleep” (At-Tur, 52:48).

“Therefore be patient with what they ( polytheists) they say, and glorify your Lord with praise before the sun rises and before it sets, glorify him during the night, and at the beginning and end of the day. Perhaps you will be satisfied"(Ta Ha, 20:130) .

  • Truth ( hakk)

“I swear by the eve of evening that people suffer loss except those who believe, do righteous deeds, command one another with the truth, and command one another with patience!” (Al-Asr, 103:1-3) .

  • Mercy ( Rakhma)

“And after this, one must be one of those who believe and command one another patience and command one another mercy” (Al-Balad, 90:17).

  • Gratitude ( shukr)

(Ibrahim, 14:5).

Availability in Holy Quran and the Sunnah of verses and hadiths telling about the virtue of patience, indicates the importance and greatness of this quality. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) encouraged his community to this good morality. His life is an example of this high morality. Anyone who studies his life and sunnah will see for himself that patience truly has a high position.

Dr. Muhammad ibn Khalifa

In the name of Allah, the Gracious, the Merciful

Shaykhul-Islam Takiyuddin Abul Abbas Ahmad Ibn Taymiyya said:

The Almighty and All-Good Allah divided His slaves into classes, and made some classes higher than others. Therefore, even when joy and trouble befall the believers, they remain in the good of their Lord. Also, Allah Almighty made His predestination for them a profitable trade and a path leading to the truth. As the imam of the believers (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said about this in an authentic tradition: “ How amazing is the position of the believer. Truly all his deeds are amazing. Allah did not determine anything for him that was not good. When joy overtakes him, he thanks Allah and this turns out to be good for him. When trouble befalls him, he shows patience and this also turns out to be good for him. ».

This hadith covers all predestination ( qadar), which Allah Almighty determined for the believer. Since if he begins to thank Allah for the good that befalls him and begins to show patience during the troubles that befall him, then the predestination of Allah will always turn out to be good for him. This is also an act of iman (faith). As some salafs said about it: “Iman consists of two parts. One part is gratitude (shukr) and the other part is patience (sabr).”. Allah Almighty said: “Truly in this are signs for everyone who is patient and grateful.”(Ibrahim, 14:5; Luqman, 31:19; Saba, 34:19; ash-Shura, 42:33).

If you pay attention to all areas of religion, it is not difficult to make sure that it is all built on patience and gratitude. This is because patience consists of three types:

First view. Showing patience in matters of submission to Allah. Since there is no such act during which a person would not fight and show patience towards his external and internal enemies. And it is enough for a person to be patient in performing both obligatory ( wajib) and desirable ( mustahab) acts.

Second view. Showing patience in a forbidden matter. Truly human soul, his passions, the shaitan who embellishes (sins) and bad comrades, push a person to disobedience and sins. In order to leave this, a person only needs to show strong patience. Some salafs said: “Doing good deeds is characteristic of both good and bad people. However, remission of sins is characteristic only of the truthful (siddiqin).".

Third type. Showing patience when a person suffers misfortunes that are beyond his control. There are two types of misfortunes:

1. These are diseases and similar heavenly misfortunes that are not in the power of creatures.

Showing patience with this type of misfortune is easiest, since the slave becomes a witness that all this has befallen him according to the predestination of Allah and that His creations are not able to interfere with it. Therefore, he endures either of his own free will or forcedly. If Allah helps the slave and instills in his heart the knowledge of the benefits to be gained from the misfortunes that befell him, as well as the fact that this will bring him forgiveness and goodness, then the slave, showing patience, will move to the next stage, and this is gratitude to Allah and contentment ( own position). In such a situation, the misfortune that befell him will turn out to be a blessing for him, and he will begin to speak from his heart: “ O Lord, help us remember You, thank You and worship You in the best possible way!" This increases and decreases depending on the slave's faith level. We can also observe this in people’s words. As the poet said about it, addressing his beloved who caused him suffering:

You remember me with an unkind word and it’s sad for me,

However (albeit with unkind words) you remember, and this makes me happy. See the work of “ad-Divaru” by Ibn ad-Dumamina, with comments by Ahmad Ratib al-Naffah, page 17.

2. Misfortunes that befall a slave due to human actions.

This can happen by encroaching on a person’s life, property and honor. It is very difficult to show patience with this type of misfortune, since the human soul feels its humiliation and does not want to come to terms with it, and therefore it strives for revenge. To show patience in the face of this type of misfortune is characteristic of prophets and truthful men. When the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) suffered, he said: “May Allah have mercy on Musa. They caused him more suffering, but he showed patience." Reported by al-Bukhari in al-Sahih in the book “Stories about the Prophets”, chapter 28, hadith 3405; Muslim also reported in “al-Sahih” in the book “Zakat” the chapter on “Softening Hearts” 3/109.

He also (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said that one of the prophets, who was beaten by people from his people, said: “O Allah forgive my people, truly they do not know” Reported by al-Bukhari in al-Sahih in the book “Stories about the Prophets”, chapter 56, hadith 3477; Muslim also reported in “al-Sahih” in the book “Jihad” the chapter on “Battle of Uhud” 5/179.

It is also reported that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) also said this when people from his people caused him suffering. In this prayer, he simultaneously addressed three issues: forgiveness, asking for forgiveness for them and justifying them with their ignorance. This type of patience resulted in victory, greatness, joy, peace, strength, love for Allah, increased knowledge and people's love for him. Allah Almighty said: “We created leaders among them who led the rest according to Our command to the straight path, because they were patient and confidently believed in Our signs” (As-Sajdah, 32:24).

A person becomes an imam in religion only with the help of patience and conviction. And when unshakable conviction and faith are added to this patience, the slave is elevated to a high position by the grace of Allah. This is the mercy that Allah grants from His servants to whomever He wishes. Verily Allah is the possessor of great mercy.

For this reason, Allah Almighty said: “Good and evil are not equal. Repel evil with what is better, and then the one with whom you are at enmity will become like a close, loving relative to you. But it will not be given to anyone except those who show patience, and it will not be given to anyone except those who have a great share” (Al-Fussilat, 41: 34-35).

Evil can be repelled with good only through forgiveness and other similar righteous deeds. And the great portion is Paradise.

There are a number of reasons that help a person achieve this patience. From this:

First. Testify that all deeds, will, movements and rest of slaves are created by Allah; only what Allah willed happens, and what He did not will does not happen. There is not even the smallest particle, either at height or at depth, that would make movements without the will of Allah. People just go through the motions. Therefore, do not look at who the people are who brought troubles upon you, but look at who sends these troubles. Only in this case will you free yourself from sadness, grief and anxiety.

Second. This is the recognition of one’s sins and the knowledge that these troubles were sent by Allah in return for the sins he committed. Allah Almighty said: “Any calamity befalls you only because of what your hands have acquired, and He forgives you much.”(Ash-Shura, 42:30). If a person realizes that the troubles that befell him befell him because of his own sins, then he will stop judging people and turn to Allah for forgiveness and repentance. If you see a person who scolds and condemns people for the suffering caused to him, but does not criticize himself and does not ask for forgiveness, then know that his misfortune is true. However, if he begins to ask for forgiveness and condemn himself, then this misfortune will turn out to be a blessing for him.

Ali bin Abu Talib said his famous words: “A slave should not ask from anyone other than his Lord and should not fear anything except his own sins.” Reported by al-Bayhaqi, in Shuabul Iman, 7/122, 9718; al-Asbahani in “at-Targib wa at-tarhib” 2/266, 1586; Shit AbdulBarr in Jamiu Bayanil ilm wa Fadlih 1/383, 547-548.

It is also narrated from Ali and other salafs: “Misfortunes come only with sins and go away only with the help of repentance”.

Third. The slave's knowledge of what Allah brings about to a good end those who forgive and show patience. Allah Almighty said: “The reward for evil is equal evil. But if anyone forgives and establishes peace, his reward will be with Allah. Verily, He does not love the wrongdoers” (Ash-Shura, 42:40).

People, regarding the misfortunes that befall them, are divided into three groups:

  1. Those who take more than their due, that is, the wrongdoers ( let's flood it);
  2. Those who take as much as they are entitled to. These are fair people ( muktasid);
  3. Those who leave their rights and forgive. These are sincere people ( muhsin).

All these three categories of people are mentioned in the above verse. Start of this verse concerns fair ( muktasid, the middle of sincere ( muhsin), and the end of the wicked ( flood).

The herald will cry on the Day of Retribution: “Let those whose reward Allah has made obligatory for Himself stand up!” and after this call only people who forgive and reconcile (people) will stand up.” . When a person realizes how much reward he can lose if he takes revenge, then it becomes easier for him to forgive and show patience.

Fourth. If a slave forgives and does good, then this act of his will allow him not to make bad assumptions about his Muslim brothers, not to deceive, not to take revenge, and will also allow him to avoid evil and rancor. Thus, by forgiving people, he will receive benefits in both worlds, which are many times greater than the benefits for revenge, and thereby he will know the sweetness of forgiveness and will be among the beloved slaves of Allah, about whom the Almighty said: “Indeed, Allah loves those who do good.”(Ali Imran, 3:134). His position is like that of one who, having given a few dirhams (silver), receives back several thousand dinars (gold). . Truly, a person who has achieved this will be infinitely happy with the blessing that Allah Almighty has given him. .

Fifth. The knowledge that the one who takes revenge not for the sake of Allah, but for the sake of himself, will be humiliated, and the one who forgives, Allah Almighty will exalt. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said about this: “Indeed, Allah will only increase the greatness of a forgiving slave.” Narrated by Muslim in al-Sahih in the book “Adab, Beneficence and family ties" in the chapter "The Desirability of Forgiveness" 8/20. The greatness that a slave will achieve because of forgiveness is much better and more beloved for him than the greatness that he will achieve because of revenge. Because the greatness that he will achieve due to revenge is external greatness, but internally it is a shame. However, although forgiveness is an external shame, it bestows both external and internal greatness.

The sixth and one of the most important benefits derived. Knowledge that the prescribed punishment or reward depends on the type of action performed, as well as knowledge of one’s injustice and sinfulness. If a slave begins to forgive people, then Allah will forgive him; if he has mercy, then Allah will also have mercy on him. If a slave realizes that forgiveness and showing kindness towards those who harm him is the reason for Allah's reward, then it will become easier for him to forgive people and show patience. This benefit is enough for someone who has intelligence.

Seventh. The knowledge that a person who takes revenge and demands retribution for injustice done to him wastes his time, thinks only about this (moves away from worship) and loses benefits that he will not be able to return. Perhaps this is much greater than the misfortune that befell him. However, if he forgives and has mercy, then both his heart and his body will take advantage of the time allotted for them and engage in more useful things than revenge.

Eighth. If a slave takes revenge only for his own sake, then let him know that the prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) never took revenge for himself, while the suffering caused to him was related to religion and was committed against Allah, and he is the best and beloved to Allah from all his creatures. Despite the fact that the prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) was the most honorable, the best, far from all immorality, and possessed of an excellent character, he did not do this for himself. How then can we do this, knowing about our shortcomings and sins? On the contrary, a reasonable person will never value his passions so highly that he would take revenge for the sake of it. And for such a person, his passions do not constitute value at the level of revenge.

Ninth. If a person suffers because of those actions that he committed for the sake of Allah’s pleasure, that is, he encouraged him to do what was approved and restrained him from what was blameworthy, then patience is obligatory for him. Therefore, he should not take revenge, since he suffered for the sake of godly deeds and his reward will be with Allah Almighty. Therefore, people who lost their lives and property during jihad in the path of Allah did not lose them. Allah bought their lives and property from them, and the price for this was set not by people, but by Allah Almighty himself. Whoever demands a price from people for it will lose the price from Allah, since whoever spends something in the path of Allah will receive a reward from Allah in return.

If a person suffered for his disobedience to Allah, let him condemn only himself. If he begins to condemn himself for the sins he has committed, then he will not need to condemn others.

Anyone who suffers misfortune while trying to acquire something, let him be patient. Because not getting what he was striving for is great grief than showing patience. Anyone who, while traveling, does not show patience with the midday heat, rain, snow, difficulties of the road, robbers, then he has no need for markets (that is, he is incapable of worldly affairs). All people know that in order to get what a person strives for, he needs to be patient until he gets it.

Tenth. By showing patience, the slave's knowledge that Allah is with him, loves and is pleased with him; if Allah is with the slave, he will take away from him all the evil and all the troubles that people cannot take away from him. Allah Almighty said: “Be patient, for Allah is with those who are patient”(Al-Anfal, 8:46). "Allah loves the patient"(Ali Imran, 3:146).

Eleventh. Knowing that patience is half of faith ( iman). A person who realizes this will never prefer his passions even to a part of his faith. Truly patience maintains a person's faith and protects him from shortcomings. Allah Almighty protects believers.

Twelfth. The knowledge that patience is capable of ruling over the passions of the soul and defeating them. And a person who humiliates his passions and conquers them will not remain in the power of his soul, and then it will not lead him to destruction. If he begins to obey her, then she will destroy him. And he can escape this fate only by the grace of his Lord.

Manifestation of patience and superiority of a person over his soul and the shaitan is enough for a person’s heart to be established and for him to be able to repel his enemy.

Thirteenth. Knowing that Allah helps those who are patient. Verily, Allah is the patron of the patient and those who leave the wrongdoers to Allah. The one who himself wants to defeat his nafs, Allah will turn him into a slave of his own soul and make him its helper. And what will be the position of that person who, having lost the help of Allah, began to cooperate with his helpless and weak soul?!

Fourteenth. A person who shows patience towards those people who cause him suffering, as well as towards the suffering itself, can cause these people to repent of their deeds, return to the truth, ask for forgiveness, be criticized by people and thereby be ashamed of their actions, and then it will lead them to friendship with that person. Allah Almighty said on this occasion: “Repel evil with what is better, and then the one with whom you are at enmity will become for you like a close, loving relative. But it will not be given to anyone except those who show patience, and it will not be given to anyone except those who have a great share” (Al-Fussilat, 41: 34-35).

The fifteenth. It is possible that a person’s revenge will lead him to increase the evil and suffering caused to him by the wicked. But if he shows patience and forgives, he will be protected from this evil. Man of sense will not choose from two atrocities the one that brings more evil. How many people wanted to take revenge and prevent unrest, but were unable to achieve this. Many people lost their lives, power and property along the way. But if the oppressed had forgiven, then what befell him would not have befallen him.

Sixteenth. Anyone who takes revenge without showing patience will be among the unjust. This happens for the reason that when a person is seized by a thirst for revenge, he submits to the passions of his soul, which goes beyond the boundaries of what is permitted and therefore the person becomes angry and loses control over his words and actions. If before this he was an oppressed person who expected help from others, now he will turn into a lawless person, under the influence of anger and a thirst for punishment.

Seventeenth. Suffering inflicted on a person contributes to the forgiveness of his sins and the enhancement of his degree. If he begins to take revenge, abandoning patience, he will not achieve forgiveness of sins and will not increase his degree.

Eighteenth. Patience and forgiveness are the most strong weapon man against his enemy. Anyone who begins to show patience and forgive will thereby become the cause of humiliation, shame, and fear that will befall this enemy. This is because even if he becomes silent regarding the injustices caused to him, people will not do this (i.e. they will not show indifference). But in case of revenge, this will not happen. Therefore, you see that people try to take revenge on the one who causes them suffering, and scold him, as if by doing this, a weight is lifted from their shoulders, and they find peace.

Nineteenth. If a person forgives his enemy (who causes him suffering), then the enemy will find his degree higher than his own, will feel his victory and his own weakness. And this is enough for the forgiver, as proof of his dignity and superiority.

Twentieth. Forgiveness is a blessing Hasanat). One good deed gives rise to another, and another to a third, and thus they increase. The reward for a good deed is another good deed. In the same way, the reward for a crime is another crime. It is possible that this act will lead him to salvation and happiness. But if he takes revenge, he will lose this benefit.

As for the second part of religion, it is gratitude ( shukr). Gratitude is submission to Allah Almighty.

Here we come to the end by the grace of Allah. Much praise be to Him. Peace and blessings be upon our Prophet Muhammad and his family.

These opening words are called “Khutbatul-haja”. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) taught this to his companions and himself pronounced it before Friday and other sermons, as well as marriage (nikah). The message about the khutbatul-hajj is transmitted from six companions, and all these versions reinforce each other, and therefore the authenticity of this hadith was confirmed by many imams, including at-Tirmidhi, an-Nawawi, Ibn Taymiyya, al-Albani, etc. See. "Khutbatul-hajja" by Sheikh al-Albani.

On the Day of Retribution, everyone will be gathered with their imams, and the believers will be with him. This was reported from al-Khatib from Anas to Tarikh al-Baghdad. He said about the 71st verse of Surah al-Isra: “ On that day We will call together all the people along with their leaders."- “...this means they will be called with their prophets.” Imam al-Suyuti in Durrul Mansur (5/316) noted that this tradition was transmitted by Ibn Abu Hatim and Ibn Mardawayh. The same was narrated from Mujhid. This was reported by Ibn Jarir in his tafsir (15/126) and by al-Suyuti in Durrul Mansur from Ibn Mundhir.

Imam Muslim reported “Kitab az-zukhd” in the chapter “All the deeds of a believer are good” 8/227; Imam Ahmad in “Musnad”, 1/173 and ad-Darimi in “Sunan” book “ar-Rakaiq” chapter “For every deed a believer receives a reward” 2/318. The text of the hadith is transmitted as follows: “ How amazing is the position of the believer. Truly, all his deeds turn out to be good for him...” However, to find this hadith as quoted by the author with the words: “... all his works are amazing" I did not succeed.

Narrated by Waqi bin Jarrah in al-Zuhd, 2/456, hadith 203; at-Tabarani in al-Kabir, 9/107; al-Munziri in “at-Targhib wa at-tarhib”, 4/171, hadith 4974 from ibn Masud in the form: “Patience is half of faith, and conviction is all faith.” Also, Imam al-Bukhari in “al-Sahih” the book of Faith in the chapter about the words of the prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) “Islam is based on five pillars” from Ibn Masud with the words “Conviction is all faith.” Sheikh al-Albani in “Silsila al-Hadith ad-Daifa” 1/506-507, hadith 499 said that this hadith is munkar. He said: this hadith is reliable as the words of Ibn Masud, but weak as the words of the prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him). This is also indicated by the words of Sheikh-ul-Islam Ibn Taymiyya: “Some Salaf spoke about this.”

Abu Nuaim “Hilyatul Auliya” 10/197 reported from Sahl ibn Abdullah at-Tusturi as follows: “Allah will love a slave not only for his obedience to him, but also for his observance of His prohibitions. Only the truthful, who are close to Allah, are able to avoid sins. And good deeds are common to both good and bad people.”.

The author points to the hadith transmitted by Muadh ibn Jabal. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) took him by the hand and said: “Oh Muaz! I swear to Allah I love you." Then he said: “Oh Muaz! Read after each prayer: “O Lord, help me to remember You, thank You and worship You in the best possible way!” This hadith was reported by Abu Dawud in al-Sunan in the book “Prayer Witr” in the chapter “Istighfar” 2/181, hadith, 1522; also by an-Nasai in “al-Sunan”, in the book “Sahw” in the chapter “Another type of prayer” 3/53; Imam Ahmad in Musnad 5/245-247.

Abdullah ibn Masud said: “When the prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) Hunain was distributing spoils after the battle in al-Jarand, people began to flock to him. Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: “Allah sent one of his slaves to his tribe as a prophet. His tribe beat and injured him. He, wiping the blood from his forehead, said: “O Lord, forgive my people, truly they do not know.” Abdullah ibn Masud said: “Even now I seem to see how the prophet, (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) wiping the blood from his forehead, tells about this man and says: “O my Lord! Forgive my people, for they do not know.” This hadith was narrated by Ahmad in Musnad 7/378, hadith 4366. The researcher of this work said that this hadith is sahih-ligeirihi.

Az-Zubayr ibn Bakkar in al-Ansab conveys part of the prayer for rain, which Abbas said at the request of Umar, may Allah be pleased with both of them: “O Allah, troubles come only because of sins and go away only through repentance.”. (Ibn Hajar reported that this message was reported in al-Ansab, but we could not find it there). Abu Bakr Ahmad bin Marwan ad-Dainuri (d. 333 AH) in the work “al-Mujalasa wa Jawahirul ilm” (3/102-103) gives in the form maukuf(i.e., as the words of Abbas himself) part of the prayer for rain made by Abbas at the request of Umar, may Allah be pleased with both of them: “O Allah, truly troubles are sent down from heaven only because of sins and go away through repentance.”. This was also conveyed by Ibn Asaqir in “Tariha Dimashq” (26/358-359, p. 184 in the biography of Ubadah bin Afwa - Abdullah bin Sauban) through Tariq Abu Salih Bazim and that one from Ibn Hani and that one from Abbas ibn Abdul Mutallib. There is no al-Bukhari in al-Sahih of this message. It is reported in the work “al-Fatah” 2/494 in the book about “Prayer for the sending of rain” in the chapter “On the appeal of people to the leader during a period of drought to pray for the sending of rain.” However, the type of prayer and details about it are not given here. See also “Iktidaus syratal mustaqim” 337-338.

Ibn Mardaweikh narrates from Ibn Abbas that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: “On the Day of Retribution, Allah will order the herald to say: “Let those whose reward Allah has made obligatory for Himself stand up!” and only those who have forgiven and reconciled people in this world will stand up.” . Allah Almighty said: “ But if anyone forgives and establishes peace, his reward will be with Allah.” This hadith was reported by al-Suyuti in ad-Durrul mansur, 6/11; Khatib al-Baghdadi in Tarikh Baghdad, 11/198; Ibn Hibban in “Raudatul Ukalya” pp. 176-177; al-Bayhaqi in "Shuab al-iman" from Hasan al-Basri in the form mursal(as the words of Hasan al-Basri) with a complete chain; Hammad bin al-Sari in al-Zuhd 2/904 and Abu Nuaim in al-Hilya 9/204 from Hasan al-Basri in the form maukuf(as his words).

See “al-Sahih” by Imam al-Bukhari, book “Virtues”, chapter “Qualities of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him)” hadith 3560. (“Fathul-bari”, 6/566); “al-Sahih” by Imam Muslim, book “Virtues”, chapter “Abstinence of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) from committing sins” hadiths, 2327, 2328.

Transferred to Abu Yalya in Musnad 4/36, had. 2040 from Bishr bin al-Walid al-Kindi, he is from al-Musawwir bin al-Salt, he is from Muhammad bin Munqadir, and he is from Jabir, which the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: “Every good deed is saadaka. And what a person spends on his family and from his property is also recorded for him as saadaka. Also, what he spends to defend his honor will be saadaka for him. Allah undertakes to pay the believer all his expenses, except for the costs of construction (of a house, building) and expenses for disobeying Him." . Imam al-Haythami in Majmu al-Zawaid 3/136 said about this hadith: “In the chain narrated by Abu Yalya, the narrator named Musawwir bin Salt is weak.” Also ad-Darakutni in “Sunan” 3/28, had. 101 and al-Hakim in al-Mustadrak 2/50, both of them narrated this hadith from Abdulhamid bin al-Hilali, and he from Muhammad bin Munqadir. Then al-Hakim said about this hadith: “This is an authentic hadith. However, it was not conveyed by two imams (al-Bukhari and Muslim) in their writings. Collecting these pithy hadiths is not within the scope of this book.” Imam al-Dhahabi objected to him and said: “On the contrary, they said that this hadith is weak.”

See al-Hashiya, 2.

And in conclusion, praise be to Allah, the Lord of the worlds!

Translation by Abu Imran al-Salafi

(An-Nakhl, 16:110).

ﷺ asked what iman is, he sometimes simply summarized: "Iman is patience" . In another hadith, the Prophet ﷺ said: “Patience is to iman what the head is to the body, and if patience goes away, so will iman.” .

The lexical meaning of the word “patience” is retention. The Almighty says in the Quran (meaning): “And keep yourself together with those who turn to Allah with prayers in the mornings and evenings, striving for the pleasure of Allah. Do not take your eyes off these people, desiring the delights of this world, and do not obey the one whose heart We have made distracted from Our remembrance, do not be with those who prefer to follow their passions.” (Surah Al-Kahf, verse 28).

Many people today endure for some reason, out of fear of someone or something, for the sake of personal goals, for the sake of someone. But the Almighty does not call us to such patience. The Almighty speaks in the Koran about those people who endured for the sake of Allah Almighty, performed prayers, spent from what Allah awarded them - secretly and openly, and responded to evil with good.

Please note that all of our worship is about patience. To perform namaz five times a day requires patience, and therefore, probably, many, due to its lack, do not perform namaz. They do not have the patience to perform ablution five times a day and stand before the Almighty; they do not fast because they do not want to feel hungry. Patience is also needed when performing pilgrimage rituals - Hajj, and when issuing zakat. The good character to which the Prophet ﷺ and the Quran call us is associated with patience. To be generous, one must endure; to be brave, bold in the truth, you must endure.

Do other creatures besides man need patience?

Angels do not need patience, because they are created only for worship, they are pure in mind, and are not distracted for a moment from the remembrance of the Lord. Animals also lack patience, as they follow their passions and instincts. And only man, this is his amazing feature, is between two forces that always pull us in one of two directions. We are created from intelligence, which is endowed with angels, and from lust and passion, which is endowed with animals. Passions draw us to the earth, to satisfy our needs, and reason - to knowledge of the Creator, to wisdom, to acquiring knowledge.

A person is endowed with the freedom to choose between them. The believer (mumin) always endures everything and does what leads to the satisfaction of God. This is how our nature works: our soul requires remembrance of the Lord, requires love, dialogue with Him. The Creator in the Koran, literally in three verses, talks about how we can enter Paradise (meaning): “Allah rewarded them with Paradise for what they endured.” . The second verse says (meaning): “The inhabitants of Paradise, those destined for Paradise, will receive a reward from Allah Almighty - palaces in Paradise - for what they endured, and there they will hear only greetings from others.” . The third verse says (meaning): “Peace be upon you who enter Paradise with what you have endured, and how beautiful this last abode is!” May Allah grant that we hear these words on the Day of Judgment! Amine.

But before you hear them, you will have to endure a lot in this world. Allah says (meaning): “Truly, man was created impatient. When any misfortune touches him, he immediately shows intolerance. And when there is good, he immediately becomes greedy, except for those who perform namaz." .

Most best view patience - when a person can punish someone who was unfair to him, but for the sake of Allah he shows patience and forgives. And so the Prophet ﷺ said: “The most favorite sip for me is a sip of patience when I restrain my anger, and whichever servant of Allah restrains his anger, the Almighty will certainly fill his heart with faith (iman).” .

One of the fruits of patience is success, and in this regard, even non-believers and atheists show patience. One very great inventor was asked how he achieved such heights in science. He replied: “I gave 99 parts out of 100 to work, it was patience, and some part was inspiration.”

By being patient we improve our character. And as you know, the true adornment of a person is not his bright appearance, but his good character.

Patience is the quality of a strong and morally stable person. Because it is difficult to restrain yourself in the most emotional moments of life during a period of anger, or nervous breakdown. But the rewards and degrees of the patient are exalted in accordance with the difficulties of self-restraint, and Allah speaks in many places about the patient people, praising them.

Imam Ahmad said about the number of mentions of the patient:

الصبر في القرآن في نحو تسعين موضع

«[ On the virtue] Patience is mentioned in ninety places in the Quran" This means that the Almighty praised this quality ninety times in the Quran. Here is one of the many verses where Allah says:

إِنَّ اللَّهَ مَعَ الصَّابِرِينَ

Meaning: " Verily, Allah is with those who are patient "(al-Baqarah, verse 153). Patience, especially in the face of adversity, is rewarding. Regarding this, Allah says in another verse:

فاصبر إن وعد الله حق

Meaning: " Show patience (i.e. perseverance) and Allah will give you what he promised (i.e. reward) ».

Allah Almighty also says:

وإن تصبروا وتتقوا لا يضركم كيدهم شيئاً

Meaning: " If you are patient and pious, you will not be harmed by their (the hypocrites') wiles "(Alu Imran, verse 120).

Sufyan al-Sawri (may Allah be pleased with him) noted:

بالصبر واليقين تنال الإمامة في الدين

« Leadership in religion is achieved through patience and solid knowledge (a person succeeds in this world and in the eternal world) ».

There are a lot of hadiths about patience and perseverance, and it is impossible to cite them all.

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:

والصبر ضياءً

« Patience is the light (which will illuminate his grave) "(quoted by Imam Muslim from Abu Malik al-Ashari). Also the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said:

ومن يتصبر يصبره الله ، وما أعطى الله أحداً عطاءً هو خير وأوسع من الصبر

« To the one who tries to be patient, Allah will give it (patience), and there is nothing better from Allah's gifts than patience ».

There are a lot of such sayings, and there is no need to cite them all.

The belief that a person who has suffered grief should have

Not a single person, including the Messengers and Prophets (peace and blessings be upon them), is immune from disasters and trials from Allah; on the contrary, the latter are tested more severely, as an example for ordinary people.

This means that a believer must have the conviction that the Almighty sends down troubles and difficulties and only He will deliver him from them, as Almighty Allah Himself said:

ما أصاب من مصيبة إلا بإذن الله

Meaning: " Trouble does not overtake except by the will of Allah "(at-Taghabun, verse 11). No matter what happens, first of all, a person must be convinced that everything is from Allah, and therefore, as soon as Allah sends down and removes troubles, therefore, one must also rely only on Him.

Knowing that all troubles are the decision of Allah, one cannot be dissatisfied with His decisions. All His decisions are beneficial for the slaves, for Allah is fair and does not oppress them; He Himself forbade the oppression of His slaves.

One of the wisdoms - Allah, of course, knows better - of sending down troubles is that Allah sends down troubles to wash away the sins of His slaves, and if the slaves are pure, then troubles are sent down to elevate degrees. Because the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said:

إن الرجل لتكون له المنزلة عند الله فما يبلغها بعمل ، فما يزال يبتليه بما يكره حتى يبلغه ذلك

« Verily, a person upon whom troubles have befallen, and he has shown patience, will rise to degrees that he will not achieve simply by good deeds. "(Ibn Habban No. 2896 in his book "Sahih").

Also said:

ما يصيب المؤمن من هم ولا غم ولا نصب ولا وصب ولا حزن ولا أذى حتى الشوكة يشاكها إلا كفر الله بها من خطاياه

« A believer will not be overtaken by anxiety, worry, sadness, problem, harm, to the point that even a thorn will pierce him and he will feel pain, except that Allah forgives sins because of this "(Imam al-Bukhari). The slightest pain or any test Allah establishes as a reason for washing away sins or exalting one’s degree.

Absence of troubles is a cause for concern

A person should not worry if troubles are often sent to him, but he is worried if there are no troubles at all, as the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: “ There is no good in a slave whose property is not diminished and who has not experienced bodily illnesses; verily, Allah loves a slave whom he tests and shows patience when tested."(Ibn Abi Dunya). The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) also said:

من يرد الله به خيراً يصب منه

« To whom Allah wishes good, he sends disasters "(Imam al-Bukhariy).

How to be patient

When a person shows patience, he should show it sincerely, for the sake of Allah, and not for other reasons, as Allah said:

فَاصْبِرْ كَمَا صَبَرَ أُوْلُوا الْعَزْمِ

Meaning: “Show patience (Muhammad), like ulul-azmi (like the Prophets ulul-zam)” (“al-Ahkaf”, verse 35). How can we understand this verse? This verse means that one must be persistent and not complain to anyone, but turn to Allah with a prayer for the granting of perseverance in the face of disasters, as the great Prophets (peace and blessings be upon us) did.

The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said:

ما من عبد تصيبه مصيبة فيقول : إنا لله وإنا إليه راجعون . اللهم أجرني في مصيبتي واخلف لي خيراً منها إلا أجره الله في مصيبته وأخلف له خيراً منها

« The slave will not be overtaken by misfortune, and he will show perseverance and say: “We are all from Allah and to Him we will return. Oh Allah! Follow this misfortune with something good for me,” Allah will reward this slave "(Imam Muslim). That is, let the one on whom grief and sadness have fallen turn to Allah with the words given in this hadith and Allah will reward in full for his patience.

In order for a person to receive full reward for patience, he must comply with the following conditions:

1) Be convinced that everything happens according to the will of Allah, and only Allah will deliver from troubles.

2) Do not complain except to Allah.

3) To endure grief only by trusting in Allah and for the sake of Allah.

4) Be convinced that in everything there is the wisdom of Allah.

These are the basic conditions that a person, a Muslim, must comply with, otherwise the person will receive nothing but needless suffering. It is a grave sin to complain and not thank Allah for any of His decisions.

May Allah not deprive us of our perseverance at a crucial and necessary moment. Amine!

Patience is a wonderful thing because it is part of faith in Allah Almighty, who can change people's hearts. Sometimes people need time to soften their hearts and change their position. And Allah is the only one who can do this. We know that patience is an essential part of our faith. What kind of patience does Islam imply, and under what conditions does it manifest itself?

Patience in Daily Challenges

On our journey, we face difficulties every day, be it getting a job, starting a business, or even trying to get married. All this will have an impact on our life in the eternal world, depending on our intentions. And the patience we exercise under given conditions is the required effort to complete a certain task in the best way.

Patience in this case is about awareness, sound mind and receiving the right advice and following the path that will be best for both lives.

Of course, patience does not mean stubbornness. If there are clear signs that best idea is to follow this path, which can only bring harm, it is better not to continue and persist. Wisdom is knowing what a particular situation requires.

Patience in Faith

The most important test in the life of a believer is the test of his faith. And life in the eternal world depends on how he passes this test. If a person takes a step towards the Almighty, He will run to him - this is the promise of Allah. If you find yourself experiencing spiritual emptiness, go back to the basics, i.e. obligations. The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: “Religion is simple, and whoever burdens himself in his religion will not be able to follow it in the future.”

Such patience lies in awareness of true values, priorities and one’s position. Such patience is in following one’s religion, despite external circumstances and one’s experiences and still finding more meaning in what you are already doing. Consistency in faith is a sign that a person does not lose hope in Allah Almighty.

Patience in religion begins in the unquestioning and unconditional fulfillment of mandatory instructions. This is the base on which other types of worship are superimposed and iman is strengthened.

Patience in the face of adversity

Life is not always joyful and cloudless; sometimes fate brings misfortunes and troubles. They are difficult to bear and seemingly impossible to endure. But as the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said:

“Patience occurs at the borderline with adversity, i.e. true patience is the kind of patience that is revealed at the first blows of trouble.”

A person who shows patience at the first blows of trouble is a person who is truly with Allah, who realizes that both joy and misfortune are all from Allah, and everything is a test of his faith and does not cease to trust in Allah. The Koran says:

“We will certainly test you with minor fear, hunger, loss of property, people and fruits. Give joy to those who are patient, who, when trouble befalls them, say: “Indeed, we belong to Allah, and to Him we will return” (2: 155-56).

Patience comes when we know we are being tested for a greater purpose.

The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: “How amazing is the position of the believer! Verily, everything in his situation is good for him, and this is not given to anyone except the believer: if something pleases him, he thanks (Allah), and it becomes good for him, but if grief befalls him, he shows patience, and this also becomes a blessing for him.”

Of course, it is natural to feel sadness and sadness when troubles befall us. Our faith does not forget that we are people and does not forbid us to show these feelings. He just doesn’t allow us to extinguish the warm flame of hope for the best and finding peace. When the son of the Prophet (peace be upon him) died, He (peace be upon him) said:

“The eyes cry and the heart grieves, but we say only what Allah is pleased with.”

In this case, patience does not mean despair. There is a time for sadness and sorrow, but relief for a believer comes at the moment when he realizes that in everything there is the great wisdom of Allah. And in the case of troubles and misfortunes, patience is not an expression of despair, it is allowing sadness, but also continuing to follow the path. And consolation lies in:

“Whatever befalls a Muslim, be it fatigue, illness, anxiety, sadness, trouble, grief or even a prick of a thorn, Allah will certainly forgive him for any of his sins.”

Patience in relationships with people

The people we meet along the way are also our test. There are people who try our patience. These could be our parents, brothers, sisters, our friends and colleagues. The Almighty said in the Koran:

“We have made some of you a temptation for others: will you be patient? Your Lord is the Seer” (25:20).

Patience manifests itself in our attitude and reaction. Patience is about not becoming bitter or humiliating or offending a person. In addition, patience consists of keeping away from slander and gossip. By being patient with someone who may irritate us, we refrain from doing what is forbidden.

IN Everyday life We get impatient sometimes, and that's okay: maybe your train is late, or you can't wait to get home from work and start watching your favorite show. But there is one place where impatience is not at all welcome - in relationships. When you are solving problems with your significant other, demanding quick solutions and easy ways out is not The best way. But the rewards of patience in a relationship are worth serious effort and time. If you show patience and consideration for each other every day, you can create a happy and healthy relationship together.

Steps

Be patient with your partner

  1. Consider your partner's feelings. If you are patient and kind to your partner, he will feel loved and adored. If you are impatient and intolerant, your partner will likely feel rejected. Your actions and reactions can have a direct impact on how your partner feels, so think about this when you become impatient or frustrated. Remember that you care deeply about your partner and you don't want to hurt them.

    • For example, if your partner forgets to stop and buy milk by saying, “It's okay, we'll buy it later,” you are showing that you understand it was a simple mistake. If you say something like, “I can’t believe you did that again. You always forget everything,” you are implying that your partner is full of flaws and that his mistakes are unacceptable. Remember that a small mistake like this is not the end of the world.
  2. Consider your answers. Immediately showing intolerance is the norm these days; Many people assume that mistakes or inconveniences are the result of other people's failures and carelessness. However this is quite stern look on those around you, it can make you say hurtful things before you realize it. A great way to break this habit is to use a “silencer” to force yourself to think before you respond.

    • For example, you can make it a habit to take three deep breaths before you say anything when something upsets you. This will give you time to think about the situation and respond accordingly. You'll probably realize that what you thought was a huge mistake actually wasn't. a big problem, and the reaction may not be anger, but understanding.
    • In a more serious situation, you may want to leave the room or go for a walk. This will allow you to cool down and think about your reaction.
  3. Expectations must be realistic. Patience will come with understanding, and one of the most important points The thing to understand about your partner is that he is not perfect. And it can’t be! When you set unrealistic expectations for your partner or decide that absolutely everything has to go a certain way, you are bound to be disappointed. This disappointment will lead to impatience and dissatisfaction in the relationship. You can avoid this by simply maintaining reasonable expectations for your partner.

    • An example of an unreasonable expectation would be thinking that your partner should be home promptly at 5:30 every day, even if his commute from work takes 25 minutes and he works until 5:00. This doesn't allow time to account for things like getting to the car or traffic jams, and ultimately sets your partner up for failure. Try setting more reasonable boundaries instead, such as expecting your partner to let you know when they'll be staying late or coming home late for some reason.
    • Another example is expecting your significant other to always want to watch the same shows as you. Instead, you can expect that sometimes he will let you choose, and other times you will let him choose. Compromise and understanding are key ingredients in any relationship.
  4. See your partner as a whole person. remember, that ideal relationship can not be. There will inevitably be moments of tension between you and your partner from time to time, and that's okay. Instead of letting this tension define your relationship during times like these, always remember what you love about your partner. When you look at him as a whole person, it is easier for you to be patient during stressful times.

    • For example, if your partner does something that really annoys you, like tapping his foot, don't let that irritant take precedence over everyone else. good qualities things you love about your partner.
    • You may also notice that some expressions your significant other uses frequently are repeated to you frequently. Keep in mind that you likely spend more time in his company than anyone else, and therefore hear more of his stories and phrases. Remember that these things are part of the whole person you fell in love with and they are not that important in the long run.
  5. Practice positivity internal dialogue. Listen to the internal dialogue that plays out in your mind all day long. This is your conversation with yourself. Your self-talk can torment you just as easily as other people's phrases, or, on the contrary, it can boost your confidence. When you analyze yourself and think (or tell) yourself to be patient, focus on your progress in a positive way. It's easy to get upset when you're angry, but positive attitude will help you calm down and look at things rationally.

    • For example, avoid thoughts such as “I'm just not patient enough to deal with this.” Change such thoughts to positive ones by thinking or saying something like: “Working through this will require a lot of patience. I can do it if I give it my all required quantity time and control your emotions.”

Daily practice of patience

  1. Be aware of your stress. Understand your stress levels and know the factors that affect you the most. Try journaling about these top stressors and how they make you feel. When you understand your triggers, you can better control your stress levels. Controlling your stress will allow you to focus on being a more patient person. Common stress factors may include:

    • traffic jams;
    • long queues;
    • too frequent phone calls;
    • deadlines.
  2. Stay positive. In most situations you can see the positive and negative side. How patient you will be in a certain situation depends on how positive or negative your outlook is. If you focus on the positive aspects of a situation, you will be much more patient.

    • For example, if you believe that time spent in traffic is wasted time, you will become frustrated and impatient. Instead, reframe the situation. Sure, you wasted a lot of time in traffic, but it was a great opportunity to talk to your significant other. This subtle twist makes the experience positive and you will both be more patient.
