Now it is considered a multidisciplinary university. The university offers a wide range of different areas of training, ranging from "Preschool Education" to "Tourism".

Information about the university

Kherson State University is a university that attracts many applicants from Kherson and other cities of Ukraine. There are about 5,000 full-time students and about 2,000 part-time students. Nonresident persons who entered the university are provided with places in hostels. The university owns 3 student accommodation buildings, of which two are 9-storey and one is 5-storey.

Classes are held in six educational and laboratory buildings. The university is provided with the necessary equipment, which plays an important role in the educational process. There is a library in the school. It has a lot of books, newspapers and magazines, which are periodically updated with new products. In 2014, the State Scientific and Pedagogical Library of Ukraine named after V. A. Sukhomlinsky decided to rank libraries. When compiling the statistics, 61 institutions were analyzed. The library of Kherson State University took the following positions:

  • 9th place in the ranking of libraries;
  • 4th place in the list for the formation of the fund;
  • 3rd place in the rating of reference and bibliographic activities.

Scientific activity of an educational organization

Kherson State University is engaged in scientific activities. Its main goal is to obtain and use the latest knowledge:

International activities of the university

Admission to the university: required documents

Applicants entering Kherson State University must first submit a paper application. When submitting it, the originals are presented:

  • a document serving as an identity card;
  • military ID;
  • a document certifying the availability of education, together with the application;
  • certificates of external independent assessment (for those who enter on the basis of complete general secondary education).

It is worth noting that instead of a paper application, an electronic application can be submitted. However, to be able to do so, certain conditions must be met. An electronic application can be submitted by applicants who enter on the basis of a complete general secondary education and do not have:

  • special conditions for participation in the competitive selection;
  • enrollment rights under quotas;
  • discrepancies in full name, date of birth, citizenship in documents.

Entry exams

At Kherson State University, entrance exams depend on the field of study. Their list should be clarified before admission. For example, we can cite several specialties and the exams established for them (3 are provided for each direction):

  • "Psychology" - Ukrainian. language and literature, biology, Ukrainian history.
  • "Economics" - Ukrainian. language and literature, Ukrainian history, geography or mathematics.
  • "Philology (applied linguistics)" - Ukrainian. language and literature, Ukrainian history, foreign language (English or German).
  • "Journalism" - Ukrainian. language and literature, Ukrainian history, a creative competition developed by Kherson State University.

Their form may be different. Applicants who have graduated from school provide certificates of external independent assessment. In 2017, these documents are accepted for 2016 and 2017. According to the results of the interview without passing the exams, Kherson University accepts the following persons:

  • victims of the Chernobyl disaster;
  • recognized by law as participants in hostilities who defended the integrity and independence of the country, who took part in the anti-terrorist operation.

Based on the results of an external independent assessment or entrance examinations, orphans, children deprived of parental care, applicants with some serious illnesses, citizens living in the territory of the anti-terrorist operation or who left this zone after January 1, 2017 can participate in the competitive selection.

Preparatory department for Ukrainian applicants

Having gaps in knowledge and an insufficient level of preparation, it is very difficult to pass the competition to Kherson State University. Admission sometimes ends with the failure of exams. For applicants who want to increase their chances of admission, the educational institution has a center for pre-university training and work with foreigners. One of its divisions is a preparatory department for Ukrainians. It conducts classes in general education subjects. They can improve their knowledge, understand topics that were not learned at school. Also, this department is preparing for the passage of creative entrance examinations.

Classes are taught by highly qualified university teachers. Specialists provide all the necessary theoretical information, conduct multiple trainings to complete test tasks. Education at the preparatory department is paid. The cost is available to all segments of the population. One month of training costs 150 hryvnia.

Preparatory department for foreigners

Foreign citizens, regardless of race, nationality and worldview, have the right to education. That is why at Kherson State University (in the center of pre-university training and work with foreigners) there is a preparatory department for people coming from other countries.

The task of the unit in the university is the implementation of language training for foreigners for admission to Kherson State University (KhSU). People are invited to study Ukrainian and Russian languages, additional subjects in the chosen field of study. For foreigners, studying at the preparatory department is also paid. The cost was previously $1,400 per year.

Of the year. In total, 60 students moved to the cities, director Fedor Strahovich, 8 teachers. Classes were supposed to begin on November 1, 1917 at the verbal-historical, geographical and physical-mathematical faculties. A set of local youth has been announced. But, when the troops of Austria-Germany occupied Ukraine and occupied Kherson, they introduced cruel terror here, which paralyzed the activities of the institute. After the release, the Yuryev Teachers' Institute will be reorganized into the Kherson Pedagogical Institute with a 4-year term of study. On March 2, regular classes began at the institute.

In the early 1920s, the Kherson Pedagogical Institute was renamed the Kherson Institute of Public Education (HINO). From November it bore the name of Nadezhda Krupskaya.

In 1920, HINO was transformed into a 3-year institute of social education, and from the year it, along with other institutions of this profile, were reorganized into 4-year pedagogical institutes. At the end of the 30s, 32 classrooms and laboratories, a zoological museum, a botanical garden, and a meteorological station functioned at the Kherson Pedagogical Institute of N. K. Krupskaya.

In addition to 5 educational buildings, the university has a sports and recreation camp "Burevestnik" on the Black Sea, a training center on the Dnieper, a botanical garden - Agrobiostation in the city of Kherson.

There is a center for advanced training and retraining of personnel. The university operates the Kherson Academic Lyceum, a center for pre-university training.

One of the priority areas at the university is the preparation and implementation of international projects in the field of science and education, attracting funds from international funds and organizations. Today, the focus of international relations is on long-term programs and projects designed to improve the efficiency of educational, scientific and analytical activities and the quality of education to the level of world standards. KSU was founded in November 1917 during the First World War on the basis of the evacuated Tartu Institute of Teachers. In 1919 the school was reorganized into the Kherson Pedagogical Institute with a 4-year training period.

In the early 1920s, the institute was renamed the Kherson Institute of Education (Hino), and in November 1924 it was named after N. K. Krupskaya. During World War II, from August 1941 to March 1944, the Institute stopped its activities.

In March 1944, after the liberation of Kherson from the Axis invaders, she resumed the educational process in 5 departments: physical, mathematical, scientific, linguistic and literary, geographical, and historical. In 1973 he opened the Faculty of General Sciences, in 1977 the status of the Faculty of Education, and in 1986 the status of the Faculty of Foreign Languages.

During the years of Ukraine's independence, the Institute continued to develop. In 1992, a postgraduate program at the Faculty of Philology established additional teaching skills and retraining of Ukrainian philology and foreign languages.

In 1994, the university opened a school of physical education and sports, and the Kherson Academic Lyceum at KhSU. In 1998, Kherson State Pedagogical Institute was transformed into Kherson State Pedagogical University, which in 2002 became Kherson State University. In 2004, she established the Information Technology Research Institute. In April 2005 he opened the Business Development Center.
