The Witness. Walkthrough. Walkthrough of The Witness

OBJECTIVE OF THE GAME

The first thing worth writing about is the ultimate goal of the game. The player's task is to solve all the puzzles, of which there are about six hundred in total. In addition, there are secrets scattered around the map that you can find. You must activate several lasers that will point towards the mountain.

These lasers can only be activated after you have solved all the puzzles in a certain area. In addition to the obligatory riddles, you will see a few regular puzzles that serve as a training aid.

All puzzles represent a map of the labyrinth, shown on monitors of one color or another. You must connect the starting point (circle) and the ending point. There are a total of four different groups of collectibles in the game. The first is audio files. Fallen monitors that are not connected to anything on the island. Keys to the cinema, which can be found in indoors. If you use these keys in the cinema, the location of which will be indicated in the walkthrough, you will be able to watch a series of videos.

To begin with, I suggest you familiarize yourself with the map of the island, which the player finds himself on for some unknown reason. Anyway, what kind of island is this and who is our player? Express your guesses in the comments!

– Map of the island with all more or less important locations and symbols.

The marks on the map mean the following:

Advice. Don't go inside the mountain if you want to find and solve secret puzzles and watch all the videos. After the end of the game, everything you managed to solve will be reset.

1. INITIAL TERRITORY, ENCLOSED GARDEN.

As soon as control passes to you, move forward and examine the yellow square on the door. Left-click, then move the cursor left into the large circle. Click again and move the cursor to the right to paint over the empty area. Click the left mouse button again and the door is open.

With the next door you need to repeat the same thing, just the shape of the empty area is different. Go up the steps to find yourself outside. Go to the far right corner and you will see a large gate. They're locked. On the right side of them there are three bolts from which three wires come. You can trace where these cables go. If you haven't guessed, you will need to solve riddles related to the deadbolts.

Approach the only working yellow monitor. Click on the big empty circle. Do you see the shining point? You need to draw a white line to it. Do it. It is not necessary to touch the entire empty area. After solving this problem, you will need to follow the yellow cable to find a new monitor. Here again you will need to connect the large circle with the shining point. And here's the solution:

An example of solving one of the first stage puzzles.

Follow the cable and solve another mystery. It's not complicated. Move towards the main door and you will see that one of the bolts is missing. Stand with your back to the door and go into the building ahead. Here you will need to solve a new riddle. Notice that this time there are two large circles. You can draw a line to the glowing point from any of them. More precisely, you are allowed to draw from any circle, but if you look at the picture, it becomes clear: a line can only be drawn from the large circle at the bottom right.

Another one of the easy puzzles.

So, go back to the big door and follow where the last black cable leads. You will find another monitor. This time there will be one large circle and two glowing dots. Since you are interested in the cable that is connected to the door, you need to connect the large circle with the lower right luminous point. So that the cable at the bottom right turns yellow.

Return to the main door and you will see that there are no more deadbolts here. Find the answer to the task shown on the monitor on the right - connect the top circle with the lowest point, which will not immediately begin to glow.

Follow the path. On the left there will be a white door with a riddle (No. 19 on the map above). We will not solve it for now, since the meaning is not clear.

2. TRAINING GLADE.

Walk forward along the path and you will see several black monitors. The first monitor on the left side will be purple. Click on it. You are required to draw the same line from the large circle to the luminous point. But you need to do this in such a way as to separate the black and white squares. Here are the correct actions:

1. On the first screen, simply swipe a line to the left.
2. On the second screen, draw a line up, right, up.
3. On the third screen – up, right, up twice.
4. On the fourth screen – right, up, right, up.
5. On the fifth screen - up, right, up, right, down, right, up, up.
6. On the sixth screen - right, right, right, up, left, up, left, down, left.
7. On the seventh screen - up, right, up, right, down, right, down, right, four times up, left, down, left, up, left, up. Below is the seventh screen shown in the screenshot.
8. On the eighth screen - right, right, right, up, left, up, left, down, left, up three times, right, right, down, right, up, right, down twice and right.
9. On the ninth monitor - up, right, up, up, right, up, right, down, down, left, down, right, down.

One of the tasks described above (seventh screen).

There is a building nearby with five monitors. The first of them is painted green. Approach him and begin solving the riddle. This series of puzzles requires you to draw the same line, but be sure to go through all the black dots.

1. On the first monitor, draw a line like this: up, up, right, down, down, right, up, up.
2. On the second monitor - up, up, right, up, right, down, down, left, down, right, right, up three times.
3. On the third monitor the solution is similar. Strange.
4. On the fourth monitor there are two large circles. Start drawing a line from the circle that is to the right and lower than the other. So, move like this: up, left, up, right, right, all the way down, left twice, up, left, up, left.
5. On the fifth monitor there are three large circles at once. You need to start drawing the line from the circle located in the upper right corner of the screen. So, move as follows: down, down, down, left, left, left, up, right, right, up, up, left, down, left, left. The solution is shown in the screenshot below.

Solving the puzzle on the fifth monitor Green colour.

4. HOUSE ON THE WATER.

Continue along the path past these two clusters of monitors. Go through the canyon and on the left you will see a door with another puzzle. This time the monitor of blue color. Click on it. You will simultaneously draw a line of two large circles. Draw two lines to the glowing dots. It's easy to do. Go inside the house.

Go to the far left corner and you will see five monitors. The left monitor will be active. Start solving the puzzle. Here you need to move both lines at the same time. Remember that you are moving the mouse along the line that comes from the large circle that you clicked on. The other line moves in a mirror image.

Always select the lower left circle and move the lines from there like this (if you look at our solution, then do not pay attention to the second line):

1. First monitor – up, right, up twice.
2. Second monitor – right, up, left, up, up, right, up.
3. Third monitor – right, up, up, left, left, up, up, right, up, right, up.
4. Fourth monitor – twice up, right, up, left, up, left, up, right, right, up, left, up, right, up.
5. Fifth monitor (in the screenshot below) – left, up, right, up, left, up, left, up, right twice, up, left, up, left, up, right twice, up, left, up.

The fifth monitor with the solution to a puzzle on the inside wall of a house on the water.

Follow the glowing green wire, which will lead you to three new monitors of this type. The solution is described below:

1. On the first monitor, draw a line from the lower left corner like this: up, up, up, right, right, up.
2. On the second monitor – up, up, right, right, up, up.
3. On the third monitor - right, right, right, up, left, left, up, left, up, up, left.

Walk around this cube and you will see that the green cable has activated three other monitors. Solve them. On the first monitor, draw a line as follows (from the lower left corner): up, up, right, right, up, up, right, up, up, left, left, left. On the second monitor, move as follows: up, up, right, right, up, up, right, up, up, left, left, left. The third monitor is the same as the second. It's just a little distorted in space.

5. SYMMETRY.

Notice that the green cable now leads away from the house. Follow him through the canyon and you will find yourself near a large door with a riddle. Here you need to draw lines so as to capture all the black dots. There is only one starting point. You need to move like this: right, up, left, up, up, right, right, right, down, down, left, down, right, right, up, up, up, right. The gate is now open.

The gate was opened, but there was another one behind it.

Walk forward and you will immediately see a new gate. But the monitor is not connected to power. Do not go up to the second gate, but go around it on the left side. Move in a circle as the cable goes, and eventually you will see a new puzzle. There are a total of five monitors in front of you. We need to lead again double line, but also capture black marks. Looking ahead, it is worth emphasizing that although the lines are always mirrored, the black dots can be located in a completely different way. A sequential solution of five monitors is presented below:

1. First monitor (starting from the top large circle) - right, up, right, down, right, right.
2. Second monitor (starting from the top large circle) - up, right, down, right, up, right, down, right.
3. Third monitor (starting from the top large circle) - up, up, right, right, right, down, left, left, down, right, right, right, up, up, right, down, down, right.
4. Fourth monitor (starting from the left big circle) - up, up, right, right, right, down, left, down, down, left, down, left, up, left. Shown in the screenshot below.
5. Fifth monitor (starting from the upper left circle) - all the way to the right, down, left, down, down, left, up, up, all the way to the left.

Solving the puzzle on the fourth screen.

Continue along the blue cable, which will lead you to four new monitors. This time the task will be more difficult. Each time you choose which circle to start from, you control the blue line. In this case, the mirror line becomes yellow. In addition to black dots, blue and yellow dots now appear on the monitor. Only a line of the corresponding color must pass through these points, while any other line can pass through the black points. From right to left across six monitors, the solution is:

1. Blue line on the left: up, left, up, right, up, up.
2. Second monitor (blue line from the lower left corner): up, up, right, right, up, all the way left.
3. Third monitor (blue line coming from top right corner): left, down, right, down, down, left, left, left, down, down, right, right, down.
4. Fourth monitor (blue line from the lower left corner) - up, up, right, up, up.
5. Fifth monitor (blue line from the lower left corner): right, right, right, up, left, left, up three times, left, up.
6. Sixth monitor (blue line from the lower left corner, shown in the screenshot below): up, right, down, right, up, right, up, up, right, right, down, left, down, down, right, down.

Solving the puzzle on the last screen.

Move to the next monitors where the blue and yellow cables lead. There are seven monitors in total, but there is one peculiarity - with each new monitor the yellow line becomes more and more transparent. On the last three It’s completely invisible on monitors. How to live with this? Let's use our imagination! In any case, we will tell you the right solution.

1. First monitor (the blue line originates from the left side): down, right, right, up, up, left, left, up, up, right, down, right, up, right, right, right, down, right , up, up.
2. Second monitor (the blue line is still from there - on the left): up, up, up, right, down, down, right, down, down, left, left, down, right, down, left, down.
3. Third monitor (blue line starts at top left): up, right four times, down twice, all the way left, down and left.
4. Fourth monitor (blue line on the right): up, left, up, right, up.
5. Fifth monitor (blue line on the right): down, left, up, up, right, up, up. The solution to this and the following example is shown in the screenshot below.
6. Sixth monitor (blue line starts at bottom right): left, left, left, up, up, right, right, up, up, right, down, right.
7. Last monitor (blue line starts at bottom right): four times left, up, right, right, up, up, right, right, right.

Solving puzzles on the fifth and sixth screens.

Now go back to the second gate and solve the puzzle. Both lines will be the same color. Start moving from the lower left corner like this: right, up, left, all the way up and diagonally to the right place. The gates are open!

Climb higher and you will find yourself in a location with six monitors and a strange yellow box in the middle. So, first, about the meaning of these riddles. On the monitors on the right there will be puzzles with a yellow line and yellow dots. Connecting them is quite simple. But on the monitors on the left there seem to be no dots, but the line is blue. No matter how you connect this line, the puzzle will reset. The whole point is that on these monitors there should be a mirror image of what you wrote out with yellow lines. So, solve the puzzles on the yellow monitors first. There are three of them:

1. First monitor: up, up, right, down, down, all the way right, up, up, left, left, up, right, up, left, left.
2. Second monitor: right, down, down, right, up, up, up, left, up, right, right, down, down, down, right, up, right.
3. Third monitor (four circles in total to start from; circle on the left selected): right, down, down, right, up, up, up, up, right, down, down, down, right, up, up, right.

Next, take care of the blue monitors. If you make a mistake on blue monitors, they will reset. An error on the first monitor will lead to nothing. But, for example, if you solve the puzzle on the first blue monitor and then get it wrong on the second, you will need to re-draw the line on the first monitor to make the second one light up.

So, on blue monitors the lines need to be drawn like this:

1. First monitor: up, up, left, down, down, left, left, left, up, up, right, right, up, left, up, right, right.
2. Second monitor: left, down, down, left, up, up, up, right, up, left, left, down, down, down, left, up, left.
3. Third monitor (there are four circles in total to start from; the circle on the left is selected): left, up, up, left, all the way down, left, three times up, left, down, down, left.

After that, all you have to do is draw a regular line on the yellow box and see what happens. And the following will happen: a laser will appear and its beam will fly to the center of the island. Apparently, there are several of these lasers scattered around the island and they all need to be activated. Let's get on with it!

Activation of the first laser.

3. APPLE TREE ORCHARD WITH SAKURA.

Go down, exit the last gate and follow the path. At a small fork in the path, go left and up. There will be a green monitor showing the structure of the tree. You can start drawing a line only from one point. In this case, there are several endpoints and you must select correct option to charge the cable. And the correct point will be the fourth one from right to left.

An example of how the apple on the tree relates to the puzzle.

If you choose the wrong line on the next monitor, the puzzle will reset. You will need to repeat the line on the previous monitor (easy as pie). This takes time. Therefore, here is your answer: the seventh branch from left to right.

But the meaning here is completely different. You don't just have to guess the correct end of the line. Each monitor is in front of a tree with one apple. Check out this tree. The apple hangs on the same branch as on the monitor. That is, the correct answer depends on the location of the apple. For example, compare where the apple hangs on the first tree and where the line goes on the first monitor.

On the third monitor, the completion of the line goes to the seventh branch from left to right. Follow the pink cable, which will lead you to the fourth green monitor. Please note that the pattern on the monitor mirrors the tree in terms of the number of branches. As a result, the line should be completed on the seventh branch in a row from right to left.

On the fifth monitor, which will be the last of this series, the correct end of the line is on the fifth branch, if you count from right to left. It is noteworthy that there are no apples on the tree. But if you count the number of branches on the diagram and on the tree, it will become clear that one of them is broken. This is who she is. Go through the gate that opened after solving the last riddle. There is a small fenced area here, behind the city mill. On the left you can see a plate with a cut apple, and next to it there is a broken branch. Apparently, she is just from the last tree.

6. RUINS IN THE DESERT.

Go back to the place where you already activated the laser. Turn right as you look up the hill towards the laser. This is where the sand starts. Among the sand it is not difficult to find a white fortress. Picture below.

Ruins located in the middle of the sand.

Go into the fortress territory and find the only active monitor in the far right corner. It shows a schematic diagram of the steering wheel. Your task remains the same - to draw the line, but where and how? While looking at the monitor, walk to the sides so that the rays of the Sun fall on it at a certain angle. This angle will allow you to see the correct track, like in the screenshot below.

So, the answer will be as follows: diagonally to the left and down, in a circle counterclockwise until the exit at the top. The monitor nearby is activated. The solution on this monitor will be this: we leave the center up and go clockwise four divisions. We move to the exit - the puzzle is solved.

Move to the new monitor. No matter how long you walk around it, the light still falls on only one half. Remember the dark lines. Then look at the back of the monitor and you will see a switch. Draw a line, the monitor will move to the side. Find the correct position again to see dark lines on the second half of the monitor. Done? Then enter the correct answer: start from the upper left circle, move one division clockwise (at 12 o'clock), one division down, then diagonally at 4-5 o'clock, then two divisions clockwise and to the exit.

The three monitors on top are activated. If you look at them from below, then from left to right solve the riddles as follows:

1. Start in the lower left corner. One division clockwise (a vertical line upwards is obtained), and along a single diagonal through the center (two divisions). You will find yourself at 4-5 hours. Go to the exit here.
2. Start at the top, at 12 o'clock. Just a line all the way down.
3. Start at the top right (one or two o'clock in the afternoon). Diagonal for 7-8 o'clock and exit.

After solving the puzzles on three monitors, another one below is activated. Start at 4-5 o'clock and draw a line counterclockwise to 7-8 o'clock, where you go to the exit. You will get something like an arch.

Finally, you can deal with the last monitor on the surface, which is located below the four monitors on top. The monitor rotation button will become active. Ava must activate it and constantly move in order to view the desired combination in parts. And the answer will be this: start at 1-2 o’clock in the afternoon, one division counterclockwise (at 12 o’clock) and all the way down, towards the exit.

After this, a passage under the fortress will open, from the sea. Go down there. If you go downstairs, you will see two brown monitors. Solve the puzzle on both monitors and the monitor on the floor will open.

To solve this you need to use light. See the blue stand on the side? Draw one of the lines, a certain lamp will light up. Draw another line and another light will light up. So look for the right answer. Tired? Read the walkthrough below!

On the left monitor the answer will be this: start at 4-5 o’clock and move to the center, from there to 2 o’clock, from there counterclockwise to 7-8 o’clock and to the exit.

On the right monitor we move from the same place (from 4-5 o’clock) clockwise two divisions (7 o’clock), to the center, to 11 o’clock, one division clockwise (noon) and to the exit.

Finally, solve the puzzle on the monitor lying on the ground. There are three large circles in three corners. There is an exit in the fourth corner. Move from the circle located diagonally from the exit. Follow all the way to the left, two spaces down, right, up, all the way to the right, down, left, down, all the way to the left and exit.

The solution to the puzzle is reflected in the water.

Now go down the stairs even further and you will see the same monitors. This time the solution must be found in water. Do you see a huge puddle in the middle of the location? Look into it and see the reflection. When entering your answer on the monitor, remember that you see a reflection in the puddle. So, on the first monitor, draw a line from two o'clock counterclockwise to 4 o'clock and exit.

Look for the answer to the next riddle in the same puddle. Draw a line from the center at 11 o'clock, then counterclockwise to 4 o'clock and to the exit.

There is another puddle near the third monitor. Look through it, going around the pillars. Enter the answer: a line of 4 o'clock is drawn diagonally to 11, from there counterclockwise down to six o'clock and to the exit.

The monitor to the right is activated. Here the puddle is divided by a concrete partition. You'll have to use your imagination. The answer is: 7 o'clock line two divisions clockwise (12 o'clock), from there to the center, then 2 o'clock and clockwise six o'clock (two divisions) and down to the exit.

Finally, the last monitor needs to be viewed in a puddle under a fallen column. The answer is as follows: the line starts at 12 o'clock (up) and runs counterclockwise three divisions (at six o'clock, down), then to the center, from there to 4 o'clock, then up to 2 o'clock and exits here.

The cable will feed into the door behind these monitors. Go there and enter a regular line. Go even lower. You will find yourself in a room filled with water. Looking ahead, this is the last underground level.

A small basement room, flooded with water, with wooden bridges and another batch of puzzles.

On several poles you can find switches that raise or lower the water level. The trick is that when the water level rises or falls, you can look for the answer under each monitor in the reflection.

On the first monitor in the center of the room: from six o'clock to seven o'clock (one division clockwise), diagonally at two o'clock, one division counterclockwise to 12 o'clock and to the exit upward.

Second monitor: From seven o'clock, move the line to 11 o'clock (one clockwise division, two o'clock). End the line here.

On the third monitor, draw a line from four o'clock counterclockwise to seven o'clock and exit.

On the fourth monitor, the line needs to be drawn from six o'clock to the center, from there to four o'clock, and then two divisions counterclockwise to get to 12 o'clock and go up to the exit.

Now follow the cable from the last monitor and look down. Do you see the monitor down? Stand at a certain angle and you can solve the riddle.

Solution to the puzzle located below on the water.

Next, find a long panel where there are several curves. Stand against the other wall and look into the water under this panel. The solution is obvious. You can only start a line from the upper right corner. Go all the way down, further diagonally left-up until it stops, further down, left, diagonal left-up, down, diagonal left-up and exit. A passage further will open.

Move through it. You will find yourself in a room with red monitors. On the monitor with the steering wheel (the usual riddles for the location), the answer will be this: from seven o’clock to the center, and from there to four o’clock and to the exit.

Now there is a rectangular monitor, below is another one of the same kind. On the other side, instead of a monitor, there is just a labyrinth. Solve this maze first. Boards that are visible from the center will not allow you to draw consistent lines. Therefore, walk around the maze so that you stand with your back to the wall and facing it. From the circle, move two spaces to the left, all the way up, right, down, right, down, right, down, right, all the way up, two spaces to the left and up to the exit.

Now look at the rectangular monitor opposite. It's easy to find the answer in the incident light. It will be like this: down, three divisions to the right, down, two divisions to the right and down to the exit.

The monitor below will light up. Answer: two divisions to the left, down, two divisions to the right, down, all the way to the left and down to the exit.

The last monitor is to the left of the two rectangular ones and opposite the puzzle in the form of a “steering wheel”. Move from the circle two spaces up, left, up, left, two spaces down, right, two spaces down, right, two spaces down, two spaces left, two spaces up, left, up and exit left.

Solving one of the last puzzles before activating the laser.

Go to the key nearby and enter a simple line. You will go up on the lift along with the second laser!

Second laser activated!

7. AUTUMN GARDEN (TREES WITH YELLOW LEAVES).

Now turn your back to the laser you took out. Move up the hill and ahead on the left, behind the lake, you should see trees with yellow leaves. Go into the territory of this garden and move diagonally to the left forward. You must find a small fenced area with a yellow cube, inside of which the same laser is hidden. You need to access the puzzle lying near the cube.

A gate with a blue screen that allows you to move it away.

You see the usual labyrinth and branches on it. You need to draw a line to go around these branches. There will be several monitors with such branches. On the first monitor the line goes as follows: to the right, up three times, right twice, down, down, right, all the way up.

On the second monitor nothing became more complicated. The line goes like this: left, up, right, right, down, all the way to the right, twice up, twice to the left, up, left, up, all the way to the right and to the exit.

To view the answer to the next monitor, go up to the gate that you just opened and draw a U-shaped line on the back. The gate will move back and light will fall on the monitor. Otherwise, as usual - all branches are visible. Draw a line down, right, up, right, up, left three times, up, left, up, right, right, right, down, right, up.

Go a little higher and you will see that the task has become more complicated. Now, in addition to branches, a grate from the canopy falls on the monitors. But the lattice here is even and you should be able to easily distinguish it from the branches. You can draw a line using the shadow of the grating. The answer is: all the way to the right, up twice, all the way to the left, up all the way, all the way to the right and exit.

The next monitor shows the same grid. Move like this: down three times, right, up, right, down twice, right and all the way up to the exit.

The next monitor with a grid is down, left, all the way down, right twice, up twice, right twice, up twice, left and up. A nearby monitor: up, left and exit. A very simple solution!

Another monitor will be very close. The answer is: up, left twice, up twice, right, up, right, down, down, right, down and exit.

This series of mysteries is over. Note that there are two green wires coming from the last monitor. Now there are two lines of riddles, after solving which the door to the laser will open.

Stand with your back to the last monitor, walk a little forward and turn along the path to the left. Soon you will see the first monitor. Half of the monitor is covered with wood. But there is one thing: on this piece of wood there is a shadow and lines without a shadow. These lines without shadows show the correct continuation of the route. You need to move past the shadow.

On the first monitor, go down twice, right, up, right twice, up, right and all the way down. On the second monitor: left, up, right, right, down, right, down, all the way left, all the way up. On the next screen: left, down, left, down, left, down, left, up twice, right, up, right, up and exit.

The fourth puzzle (there are two circles to start with - move from the one to the right, from the side): left, down, left, left, up, left, up, right, right, up, right, up, all the way left. The fifth puzzle is down the slope: up, right, up, left, all the way up (one division only), three times to the right, twice down, left, twice down, right, up, right, all the way up and right.

The monitor is to the right: left, up, left, down, all the way left, up, right, up, left, up, right, up to exit. Go up the slope to the second to last monitor: up, left, left, up, up, right, down, right twice, down, right, down, left, down, left twice, up, left, down and exit.

Finally, go to the last monitor behind the fence, even higher. The answer will be: up, right, down, all the way to the right, up, left, left, up, left, up, right, right, down, right, all the way up and all the way to the left.

Now it's time to deal with the second series of riddles. Return to the place where you solved the last tree branch shadow puzzle. Climb up the slope, as it were, where there are monitors. Find a working one and start solving it. In this case, the shadow of the branches shows the correct route. Go like this: all the way up, twice to the right, twice down, left, down, right, down, right, up, right, twice up, left, up, right and exit.

Next monitor: three times to the right, down, twice to the left, down, all the way to the right, down, all the way to the left, down, all the way to the right and exit. New monitor: left three times, up twice, right, down, right, right, up twice, all the way left, all the way down, three times right and exit. New riddle below, behind the previous monitor. The solution is: down, left, down, all the way to the right, up three times, left twice, up and left twice, where the exit is.

Go down even lower to the last monitor. Draw a line up, left and down. Now move to the area with the laser that was closed. Click on the yellow fallen monitor and solve the last riddle. Combined puzzle. The right half contains the shadow that acts as the walls (you need to move along the light area), and the left half shows the shadow of the branches that you need to move along. The solution is: left, up, left three times, up, all the way left, down twice, right twice, down, right three times, down, right, down, left, down, left twice, up, left twice, up, left, twice down, right twice and exit.

The third laser is open!

Activated laser at the Autumn Garden location.

20. MILL.

Now find the passage between the apple orchard and the building with the training green monitors. Follow the path there and you will see the city. There should be a pier on the right side. Look to your left and you should definitely notice a mill. Go to the mill and solve the problem on the door. To do this, you just need to connect all three black dots with a yellow line. From a large circle, move like this: up, up, left, left, up, right, right, up, up, right, down, down, right, right, down, left, left, all the way down.

A windmill located on the side of the city and hiding several secrets.

Go inside the mill and you will see some kind of device. If you connect the line to the right, the right cable is activated, and to the left, the left cable is activated. You don't need it yet.

Go down the mill to the basement. Move along the corridor to the door, where you will need to find the answer to the riddle: separate the white squares from the black ones. The solution is: up, up, left, up, up, right, right, down, down, down, right, all the way up, left, left, up.

The open door reveals a small room with a cinema.

Ahead you see a small room. In front of the room, below the window, there are six dark monitors. Looking ahead, it is worth noting that this is a cinema. In principle, it does not affect the plot of the game. But watching all six films will give you some idea of what the author of the game actually intended.

How to watch the first secret video

In order to start watching any video, you must enter the correct sequence on the screen at the entrance. Here you see seven hexagons joined together. The first sequence is looked for near the beginning of the game. Read below.

Go to the beginning of the location. Remember where you came from? There are also training fields with purple and green monitors. So there you need to find a white door. Attention was paid to her at the beginning of the passage. There is a puzzle on the door. You need to draw a line so as to separate the white squares from the black ones and at the same time combine all the black dots. The solution will be this: start from the circle closest to the lower right corner. Move as follows: right, all the way up, left, down, left, down, left, left, up, up, left, left, down, left, down, down, down, right, right, right, down, left, left, left, down, down, right six times, up, up, right, down, down, right. The door will open. Walk through and you will see a silver case on the stand. Examine it to find where you can draw a line. Draw a line on the red background and the case will open. You will see a sheet with a hint. It is shown in the screenshot below.

This is exactly the picture you should enter on the panel near the entrance to the cinema.

A combination that allows you to play one of the bonus videos of the game.

Watch the video.

Go behind the cinema and you will see a door with two monitors.

8. FORTRESS.

Leave the city and move towards the fortress. Sooner or later you will find it. Go forward and go up the steps. You can see the stone statues ahead on the right. You should go there! There is an active monitor here. But you can't draw on it. But on the monitor to the left and below the field there is a long line. It is designed to be erased. But erasing what? Please note that there are glass paths at the location. They exactly repeat what is shown on the monitor. There is a circle in the right corner - that's where you should start. So, remember what is shown on the monitor - you must get from the large circle to the exit, and you need to catch two black dots. The solution will be this: from the large circle at the forks, move like this - along the wall all the way, left, right, right, left along the wall, left, straight, left, straight, right, left, left, right, right all the way, right all the way , right and left. A door nearby should open.

In the screenshot, the next door is to the left of the statue of a man standing with his back to you.

Go through this door and you will be in next part labyrinth Looking ahead, it is worth noting that there will be four such glass paths in total. On the purple screen you see white and black cubes. They need to be separated from each other, you remember, right? The main thing is that there are no cubes of different colors in one part of the maze. It is not necessary that cubes of the same color be in only one part of the maze: and they can be separated from each other.

Stand on the large circle nearby and walk as follows (directions at each new intersection are indicated): left (with your back to the wall), right, forward, right, left along the wall, forward (you will find yourself in the corner), left, one more step forward, left and forward all the way (through all four tiles), right, right again, step forward, left and to the locked door. The door should open. If it does not open, then return to the monitor and reset the drawing, and then repeat the path described above.

Move to the next part of the maze. There will be a green monitor here. The features are as follows: for the first time you will see figures from Tetris, which are made in yellow. In this case, you must repeat these figures by tracing them with lines. Here's how to navigate the labyrinth: go inside the labyrinth, turn right and stand on the large circle. Move left along the edge of the maze, towards the passage through which you just entered. Turn right at the second to last intersection. Take a step forward, turn right, right again, left and one step forward (you will find yourself at the wall). Take a step forward. Then you need to go left, but the path is blocked by debris. Go back along the marked path a little. Do you see wooden boards between the glass walkway? You can walk on these boards without touching unnecessary parts of the maze. In the picture below you see the answer and must guess that you need to step from the wooden board approximately in the far left part of the maze onto the glass path and walk first to the right to the rubble, and then to the opposite wall and turn right, towards the exit. This way you will finish drawing the correct line.

Solution to the third labyrinth with a glass path, but on a monitor. To the “hump” area just to the left of center (in the picture), you will have to walk along the boards and put the puzzle together.

It remains to deal with the last blue maze. When you move along the glass path, two lines will appear on the monitor (one moves in a mirror image relative to the other). You must stand on the left circle and go to the right. At the penultimate turn, turn left, then immediately left again and step forward. Turn right, then left and stand at the exit point from the maze. The door should open.

Here's what all four mazes look like from above.

Return to the beginning of the fortress. There is a maze of bushes near the steps leading down and out. Looking ahead, we note that there will be four such bush mazes in total. Go through this maze and at the end of the path you will see a door with a monitor. On the monitor you must exactly repeat your path through the maze. From a large circle it looked like this: all the way to the left, three times up, right, down, right, right, up, right, up, left, up. The door will open!

Enter the new labyrinth. As you move between the bushes, look at the ground. There is grass everywhere, but in some places this grass is tall. You have to go around tall grass, because it interrupts the line of the labyrinth. Do you remember how you walked? Enter the following line on the next door: from the circle in the lower left corner slightly up (half a division) and immediately to the right. And then: up, right, down, right, up, up, left, up and all the way to the right.

Enter the new bush maze. Unfortunately, I was unable to figure out what the connection was between your journey through the maze of bushes and the shadows. Below are only the answers, but not the essence of the solution.

The third labyrinth from the bushes: a little up (half a space) and immediately to the right, up along a long line, right, up, right, down, right, up and right to the exit.

Fourth labyrinth: slightly up (half a division) and immediately right, up, right, up, left, up, left and up to the exit.

Now that you have dealt with the bush mazes and glass path mazes, you can climb to the top of the tower. Two more riddles await you here, after which you can activate the next laser. Approach the yellow monitor and from top to bottom you will see all four mazes of bushes. On big screen you must draw the line along which you moved through all the labyrinths.

Solving one of the puzzles at the top of the tower located on the territory of the fortress.

On another monitor of the same color, where you see all four colored mazes below, the answer will be:

Solving the second puzzle at the top of the tower located on the territory of the fortress.

Laser activated!!

9. MONASTERY.

How to find the monastery?

If you leave the fortress, then opposite you can see the monastery. Go to him, go up to the locked door. Go around the monastery fence and you will see a huge red gate. To the right and left of the gate there are holes in the wall, behind which you can see two monitors with ordinary keys. Draw the lines, after which the gate to the monastery will open.

Go inside the monastery and look at the wall on the right. There are tree cutouts on the wall. Look through these cutouts at the three puzzles on the side of the monastery (angled squares with labyrinths). You must move as the trees show you. Exit the monastery and go to these squares with red lines. The answers from left to right will be:

1. First square: diagonally up to the right twice, diagonally to the left up twice, and then up diagonally and out.

2. Second square: diagonally left up, diagonally right up twice, diagonally right down, diagonally right up, diagonally left up twice, diagonally left down, diagonally left up, diagonally left down, diagonally right down, diagonally left down, diagonally left up and to the exit.

3. Third square: diagonally right down, diagonally left down twice, diagonally right down twice, diagonally left down and exit.

Inside the monastery, the first panel of four will activate, surrounding the tree trunk in the center. Find her. The solution must be sought using leaves and branches from the tree in the center. You must stand so that the first puzzle is covered by branches with red leaves.

But first, a very important detail! You need to close the windows to reduce light. Inside the monastery, find a stand with a small tree with red leaves. There is a drawing on the stand. Connect two black dots and complete the line. The shutters on the monastery windows will close.

Without leaving here, draw a line. You can only draw a line where there are no leaves. This is how you will find the correct answer: left, left, up, up, up, up, right, right, up, up, all the way to the left.

On the next monitor, the answer must be sought using bare branches without leaves. The answer is:

Solution to the puzzle on the second column inside the monastery.

It remains to find solutions on the two remaining monitors.

Third monitor: left, left, up, up, left, up, right, right, down, right, up, up, all the way to the left, where the exit is.

Fourth monitor: left, left, down, down, right, up, right, down, down, left, down, left, down, left, down and exit.

Leave the monastery and walk around it in a circle. There will be a yellow box at the base of which you need to draw a regular line. Laser activated!

10. SWAMP.

How to find a swamp?

Move to the swamp. You can get there if you return to the fortress and stand with your back to the entrance. Follow the path to the left and go down to the water. Walk along the bridge and you will see a door on the left. If you open it, you will gain access to the swamp. The solution on the door is: draw a line up and to the right or to the right and up. The point is that you need to circle one square. But the entire maze consists of only one square. The door is open.

An open door allowing access to the swamp.

Inside you will immediately find the first six monitors. On all six monitors you must repeat the figures shown by the yellow cubes. Here are the solutions:

1. First monitor: up, right, up.
2. Second monitor: up, right, up, up.
3. Third monitor: up, up, right, up.
4. Fourth monitor: up, up, right, down, right, up.
5. Fifth monitor: right, right, up, up, left, left, up, right, right, right and exit.
6. Sixth monitor: right, up, up, up, right, down, left, down, down, right, right, up, up, up, up, left, up, right, right.

After solving the last puzzle, go around these monitors and you will see the next eight puzzles. Here the task is slightly modified. Several figures made of yellow cubes will appear on the screen at once. Moreover, if at first you must separate these figures, then later you must combine them. On all monitors, you will draw the figures as they are shown (if you see a horizontal figure of three yellow cubes, then you need to draw them using a horizontal line from three sections of the maze; you do not need to try to draw it vertically).

When combining several Tetris pieces, you must first calculate total yellow squares, and only then think about how they can be placed in one area so that two of these shapes can be inserted into it. Below is a solution for each of the monitors.

1. First monitor: right, up, left, up, right, up.
2. Second monitor: right, up, up, left, up, right.
3. Third monitor: right, up, right, up, left, up, right.
4. Fourth monitor: right, right, all the way up and right to the exit.
5. Fifth monitor: as on the fourth.
6. Sixth monitor: as on the fourth.
7. Seventh monitor: right, right, up, up, right, up.
8. Eighth monitor: right, up, up, left, up, right, right, down, right, up.

Ferry

After you solve the puzzles on all monitors on both sides, another one will become active, to which a metal platform of yellow squares leads. Go to the monitor and examine it. The yellow platform you are standing on is a ferry. With this ferry you can cross the swamp. There are two ways to solve the puzzle on the monitor.

On the monitor you see three figures in the form of stripes of three yellow cubes. In any case, when solving, the middle figure will be connected either to the right or to the left (it will be in the same area as one of the two side ones). The third figure will be separate. If you think logically, then a ferry is central figure. When it is connected to the right piece, the password floats to the right, and when connected to the left piece, it floats to the left.

You need to go to the right, so draw the following line: up, up, up, right, down, down, down (now the left piece is cut off from the rest), right, all the way up, four squares to the right, down, left three times, down, three times right, down, right, and all the way up.

Red monitors in a booth on the second floor

So you're on the other side. Looking ahead, let's describe the essence: the swamp consists of several parts of different colors: blue, purple, red and yellow. You can only go into the basements of each of these parts after you have drained them. In each room you will need to solve puzzles. You will go down to the basement of the red sector last. After solving the problems on the basement monitors, a passage will open, bringing you closer to the next laser. Let's get started!

Go up the steps and you will see a red monitor. There will be three more of these in total. Here you must draw a line, paying attention to the yellow shapes inside the maze. They will need to be stacked with each other. Remember that the correct solution means that inside the closed area you can place the shapes there without rotating them around their axis. There should be no empty cells left in the closed area.

Here is the solution to all problems:

1. First monitor: all the way up, twice to the right, three times down, twice to the right, all the way up to the exit.
2. Second monitor: all the way up, right, three times down, right, right, three times up, right and exit.
3. Third monitor: all the way up, three times to the right, down, left, all the way down, right, three times up, right, up, right, up to exit.
4. Fourth monitor: right, up, right three times, up twice, right, up, left, left, down, left, up, left twice, up, all the way to the right.

Please note that a passage will appear below near the ferry (a gate will open). But don't rush to leave. For a more convenient further journey, turn around and see two more puzzles on the door. If you solve them, the door will open. Through this door you can enter the far part of the swamp.

But still go down and go left from the ferry. Here you will need to solve eight puzzles in sequence. On first four monitors are still the same as on the previous ones.

But in the second portion of four puzzles, everything changes: you see Tetris figures at an angle. This means that they can be placed in any direction without changing their shape. For example, a stripe at an angle means that it can be positioned either vertically or horizontally.

The same can be said about the L-shape, where it can be either vertical or horizontal, a short line down or a short line up. But it is worth remembering that the direction short line in the letter "G" will always be clockwise (as it is now, to the right, not to the left).

Solve the puzzles on the first four monitors like this:

1. First monitor: all the way up and all the way to the right.
2. Second monitor: right, up, up, right, right, up.
3. Third monitor: right, up, up, right, up, right, right, up.
4. Fourth monitor: up, right, down, right, up, right, right, up, up, left, up, right.

1. First monitor: to the right and all the way up (training, explains the essence of inclined figures).
2. Second monitor: up, right, up, up, right.
3. Third monitor: right, right, all the way up, right, right.
4. Fourth monitor: up, up, right, right, right, up, left, left, up, left, up, all the way to the right.

Go through the opened door and you will see a new screen in front of you. You stand on a platform that will rotate depending on which colored squares you combine. You can only combine two colored squares. You came from the direction of the black square. In the real location, there is no path on the right side, but you can see that it was red. So you need to combine the blue and purple squares to get to where you haven't been before.

The solution is:

The correct combination allows you to connect the blue and purple bridges with the platform.

From solving this puzzle you will understand that you can combine figures of different colors. In the center there is a corner figure made of yellow cubes, and on the sides there are squares of blue, black, red and purple.

Blue room underwater

So you've turned the platform. Go first along the path where the blue platform is visible. On the right side you can see a flooded staircase. The basement needs to be emptied. Go further and turn right, where there are four monitors. Solve puzzles on these monitors:

1. First monitor: right, right, up, up, right, down, right, right, up, up, left, left, up, all the way left, up, all the way right.
2. Second monitor: right, up, right, up, up, left, up, left, up, right three times, down four times, right, right, up, left, all the way up and right to exit.
3. Third monitor: all the way up, four times to the right, twice down, twice to the left, all the way down, three times to the right and all the way up.
4. Fourth monitor: right, right, right, up, up, right, right, up, all the way left, all the way up, right twice, down, right, up, all the way right.

Purple room underwater

Now go back along the path to the platform you turned around on. The stairs will be on the left side. There is no water, so go down. There are five puzzles to solve ahead. The meaning is this: an empty blue square inside the maze takes away one cube from the Tetris figure. For example, if you combine a strip of four yellow cubes and an empty blue square into one border, then this area will have to consist not of four, but of three sections of the maze. Solutions below:

1. First monitor: double up, right and up.
2. Second monitor: double up, right and double up.
3. Third monitor: up, right, up, right.
4. Fourth monitor: all the way to the right, three times up, twice to the left, up and all the way to the right.
5. Fifth monitor: up, right three times, up twice, left twice, down, left, up twice, all the way to the right.

After solving these problems, you will drain the basement in the purple sector. Climb up and go to the platform that you turned in the screenshot above. Turn left, where there is a continuation of the bridge with a purple square. Go forward and go down the stairs on the right. There will be one riddle here. Finding the answer to this is not easy, because the field shows several Tetris figures at once. They are all smooth, therefore, when constructing the border, you need to remember in which direction they are directed (the vertical strip will be exclusively vertical, etc.).

The answer is: all the way to the right, up, left, up, left three times, down, left, up 4 times, right, up, right three times, down, right, up to the exit.

Yellow room underwater

Return to the rotating platform and enter a different combination by combining the black square on the monitor with a red or blue square. The black square is the way back to the ferry. Or if you solved two separate puzzles on the second floor and opened the door, you can bypass the rotating platform without entering additional solutions. Anyway, screenshot below.

A rotating platform combination that allows you to return back to the ferry.

Go straight to the ferry. When he is on your left, go a little further. On the left side there will be another staircase leading to a yellow basement. There is no water there anymore. Go downstairs and you will see five non-working monitors. On the right side there is another switched on monitor with some kind of solution. Enter a different solution to connect two pieces of cable on the sides of the monitor and activate the other five. The solution is: to the right, all the way up, five times to the right, down, three times to the left, down, three times to the right, down, right, all the way up.

Go to the activated monitors and find solutions (remember that the blue empty square must be subtracted, and any filled square must be added to the rest of the squares):

1. First monitor: up, to the right, all the way up, to the right, down three times, all the way to the right and all the way up.
2. Second monitor: right, up, right, all the way up, right, down three times, right, all the way up.
3. Third monitor: all the way up, right, down, right, down twice, left, down, right twice, up twice, right, up twice.
4. Fourth monitor: up, right three times, up twice, left, up and all the way to the right.
5. Fifth monitor: up, right, down, right, up, right, up, right, up, left, up, left, down, left, up, left.

Red room underwater

Climb up and walk past the ferry towards the turning platform. Don't rush: between the platform and the ferry on the right side there should be another staircase leading to the red basement. Go down and solve the four puzzles. Here you must pay attention to whether the blue square in front of you is empty or filled. The first square takes away other cubes from the figures, and the shaded one, as usual, adds one cube to the total number.

1. First monitor: up, up, right, up.
2. Second monitor: to the right, all the way up, to the right.
3. Third monitor: up, right twice, up, left, up, left, up, all the way to the right.
4. Fourth monitor: up three times, right, down twice, right three times, up twice, right and up.

Red sector of the swamp

A passage will open on the side. Move there and you will find yourself in the red sector, where you have not been before. Go up the steps. On the right there is a path leading up the mountain. You can activate a laser on the mountain. But how to get there?

Walk around the perimeter of the second tier, looking down. You should notice a single red monitor. Please note that the floor on the second floor is painted yellow. There are nine squares in total. On the monitor you also see nine yellow squares. This means that the monitor and the floor are connected to each other. You can solve the puzzle in several ways, leaving only two squares outside the selected area. Depending on which squares you move outside the line, two sectors on the second floor will drop. Stand directly in front of the monitor and enter the following value:

With this solution to the puzzle, you will go down if you were standing on the platform closest to the monitor.

You must go down on the platform. Stay on the lowered section closest to the monitor. On the monitor, enter another value: up a little (half a division), right, down twice, right, up twice, right, down almost all the way and exit to the right.

The platform on the left will go back up, but the section behind you will go down. Take a few steps back to stand on this section. Enter a new value: all the way down, right, up, up, right, down, down, right and exit. The section in front will rise up and block access to this monitor. Turn around and you will see another monitor.

On this new monitor, enter the following values: all the way down, all the way to the right, all the way up, all the way to the right, a little down (half a division), and right to exit. Finally, a passage on the side will open. Move there, go up the mountain and find the yellow box. Nearby there will be a remote control with a regular key - draw the usual line to activate the next laser.

17. PIERCE.

How to find a pier and call a boat?

Go to the entrance to the temple, which is located on the sea side (not where the laser is activated). Walk towards the sea, as close as possible. Move left along the coast. On the left side you should see the jungle. Go forward. On the right side there will be a path of stones on the water.

Follow this path and you will find the remote control. Draw a line and a boat will pop up. There is a map on this boat. You can examine it. The circle on the map shows the place where you are now. You can draw a line from the circle to any exit points to move to one place or another. But remember that in many places you must first visit on foot and lower the bridge for the boat to arrive. You will return to the pier a little later. In the meantime, follow into the jungle around him..

11. JUNGLE OR TROPICAL FOREST (BAMBOO GROVE).

How to get to the jungle?

So, first find the pier that was described in the previous section. Standing with your back to the sea, you will see the jungle ahead. Go towards them, turn right and move along the trees until you see a rise. Ahead, by the way, is the road to the greenhouse, which you will learn about in the next chapter.

After going up a little, turn into the jungle. Ahead you should see a tree with a huge trunk. You won't need it. In general, in the jungle there are several monitors and speakers on stands. Walk towards this tree, hugging the right side. Somewhere 10-15 meters before the tree there will be a right turn. Follow there and find the first connected monitor.

What is the meaning of jungle riddles?

On the monitor you see a maze that has two horizontal lines. These lines are two different notes. You should hear the bird singing. It will make two sounds in succession. One sound will be loud, the other will be quiet. So, depending on what sound you hear, move the line up (loud sound) or down (quiet sound).

The first three riddles

Now the bird makes first loud and then quiet sounds. The solution is below.

Solving the very first story puzzle in the jungle.

On the next monitor there will already be three horizontal lines. Now the bird will make more varied sounds - loud, quiet and something in between. Solution on the second monitor: twice on top, once on the bottom and once in the middle. In other words, draw a line like this: up, right, right, down, down, right, up, right and exit.

On the third monitor there are the same three levels: right, right, up, right, down, right, down, right, up, right. Thus, you will have the following levels: middle, middle, top, middle and bottom.

Puzzles near a thick tree

Go back towards the tree trunk and you will see more monitors. This is where your task gets more difficult. Gradually, the bird's singing will be overshadowed by other sounds. Either you will hear the phone ringing, then the singing of another bird, or the sound of breaking glass. Of course, this makes the task more difficult. However, we have already prepared answers for the following four puzzles:

1. First monitor: top, top, bottom, middle, bottom and exit.
2. Second monitor: top, bottom, everything else is in the middle.
3. Third monitor: bottom, middle, top, middle.
4. Fourth monitor: bottom, middle, bottom, top and output.

After this, go past a tree with a thick trunk. Walk under the fallen log and on the right side, find a road up the mountain made of concrete steps. Go upstairs. On the right side there will be one passage leading to the first jungle puzzle, which you already solved a long time ago. The second passage on the right contains an arch made of black stone. You don't need to go there yet. Climb even higher and go diagonally forward. When you come across a stream, turn around. There is something wrong with the passage you passed through. On the right side of it there should be a panel with a regular key. Draw a line; the mechanism will work. The passage will be blocked by some kind of slab. Go around it through the mountain, enter back into the jungle and climb the same stone steps. On the slab that blocked the passage to the jungle, you will see new riddles.

New riddles

These puzzles will still be associated with the singing of a bird. You must listen and determine the order of sounds. A quiet sound is a small dot, a loud sound is a large dot, something in between is a medium-sized dot. Depending on the sequence of sounds, you must draw a line from beginning to end through the suggested points in the same sequence. Immediately you will be disturbed by extraneous sounds. The answers are described below:

1. First monitor: right, up, up, right.
2. Second monitor: up, up, right, down, right, up.
3. Third monitor: up, right, up, right, up, left, left, up, right three times, down three times, left, down, right twice and all the way up.
4. Fourth monitor: all the way up, three times to the right, down, down, left, up, left, all the way down, all the way to the right, all the way up.
5. Fifth monitor: three times up, right, three times down, all the way to the right, up, twice left, up, twice right, up, left, up, right.
6. Sixth monitor: right twice, up twice, left, down, left, up three times, right three times, down twice, right, all the way up.

How to find a laser in the jungle?

From these puzzles, go down the slope with the stone steps. On the left side, as described above, there will be a black stone arch. Turn to face her and walk along the left passage so that the dark columns are on your right. You will find yourself in bamboo thickets. As soon as you enter them, go to the left. Get to the point where the dried tree grows. It will be to your right. There will be a subtle turn on your left. Follow there and find a yellow box. Activate another laser!

12. GREENHOUSE (HOUSE WITH FLOWERS).

How to find a greenhouse or house with flowers?

If you leave the temple and move towards the fortress, then on the right side you can see a huge mountain, which is hit by a laser. Move uphill, turn right and walk over the rocks of the waterfall. Go down to the very bottom, towards the sea. Here you should find a house with a door and a blue monitor. Connect the lines to separate the white squares from the black ones: up, right, down, all the way to the right, up, up, up, left, left, left, up, all the way to the right, up. Go inside and you will see a blue monitor on the wall on the left.

The puzzle given earlier is slightly modified. Now you must separate not only whites from blacks, but also any two other colors. On the first monitor you see green and purple cubes. Divide them, roughly speaking, with a diagonal line from the bottom left corner to the top right corner.

On the second monitor you should separate the cubes from each other three different colors. Draw the line all the way up, right, all the way down, right, all the way up, right and up. On the third monitor, draw a line like this: up, right, down, right, up, up, left, up, all the way to the right and up. On the fourth monitor: all the way to the right, up, up, left, down, all the way left, up, right, up, all the way to the right and up. The fifth monitor will open, where you must draw a line like this: up three times, right three times, down, left, all the way down, right, up, right and all the way up.

But the most unpleasant thing awaits you ahead. New monitors open on the right and here you need to separate four cubes.

Important tip! The following tip will help you in the future. Remember that when separating cubes of different colors, it is not necessary to collect all the colors under one frame. For example, you can separate two red cubes from each other.

1. First monitor: up, right, down, right, up, right, up, left, left, up, right, right, up.
2. Second monitor: right, all the way up, right, all the way down, right, all the way up, right, up.
3. Third monitor: up, right, down, right, right, up, right, up, all the way left, up, right, up, right, right, down, right, up.
4. Fourth monitor: all the way up, right, all the way down, right, up, up, up, right, down, down, down, right, right, up, left, all the way up, right and exit.

Now open the door to the greenhouse by performing a simple trick on the yellow screen at the entrance. Go inside and you will see a switched-on monitor on the left. But there are too many different colors on it. Go out and look at this monitor through the yellow glass. As it turns out, there are only three colors. We will not show them, but will immediately present the solution:

1. First monitor: right, right, up, up, right, right, up, all the way left, up, all the way right.
2. Second monitor (you need to look at it through the blue glass from the open door): up, right, right, up, right, down, down, right, up three times, left, left, left, down, left, up, up , all the way to the right and up.
3. You should look at the third monitor through both the yellow glass and the blue door. As a result, the answer will be: all the way up, right, down, down, right, down, down, right, right, up, up, left, up, left, up, right, right, up.

Go up the steps and you will see a monitor on the wall. On the right there is a blue key. Draw a line along it and the wall will fold down. On the Sun, you can recognize the true colors of the cubes and divide them with a line: up, up, right, down, down, right, right, up, left, up, up, right, up. Next, the second monitor will open and you will have to swipe the purple key to close the wall. In the dark you will see the correct colors of the cubes and the line will be: up, right, right, down, right, up, up, left, left, up, right, right, up. The door on the left will open.

There is a passage on the left side, which was formed after solving the two previous problems (one of the answers is visible in the screenshot).

Go down the steps and enter the small elevator with the monitor. The elevator takes you higher and higher. Each room has its own lighting and each time you have to redraw the line. But the puzzles are not difficult. In the room with green light you're in last time solve the problem. Unfortunately, the wire is broken and the elevator will not go higher.

You have to take into account how the puzzles changed with each floor and guess what kind of puzzle the higher one will have. If you haven’t guessed, then you need to draw the following line: to the right, three times up, right, right, up, right, down, down, left, all the way down, all the way to the right, all the way up.

Finally, enter the last combination: all the way up, all the way to the right, all the way down, right, three times up, right, all the way down, all the way to the right, up, left, all the way up and right to exit. Enter a regular line to activate another laser. Ready!

13. TREE HOUSE.

How to find and how to get into tree houses?

Ahead of you awaits perhaps one of the most confusing levels of the game. Not counting the last stage. You may have seen tall trees on the seashore in the northwestern part of the map, near the swamp and to the side of the fortress. From there you can still see the sunken ships. But you won’t be able to get to the puzzles from below and ultimately activate the laser. There is only one way: go to the pier that was described earlier. Call a boat and go to the forests shown in the upper right corner of the map. Upon arrival, go upstairs to the barrier, where there will be the first monitor with a riddle.

How to solve puzzles with suns?

Looking ahead, we should talk about the meaning of puzzles with suns. On the monitor you always see an even number of suns. And even if these suns different color, then the number of suns of both one and other colors will always be even. You must make sure that the suns of the same colors are separated from each other in pairs. But if you only have one pair, then these two suns should be in the same closed area. You can place several pairs of suns in one closed area, provided that these pairs are of different colors. You cannot place more (or less) two suns of the same color in one closed area.

The first puzzles are the simplest

On the first monitor you see two cells and two suns of the same color (it couldn’t be any other way). Draw a line around the perimeter of the labyrinth without dividing the suns. A passage will open.

There will be a new gate ahead with a second monitor. Draw a line around the perimeter again: either up and to the right, or to the right and up. Doesn't matter.

1. First monitor: all the way to the right, twice up, twice to the left, up, a little to the right (half a division) and exit.
2. Second monitor: twice up, left, twice down, left, three times up, right, up, right and exit.
3. Third monitor: just up.
4. Fourth monitor: all the way left, up, all the way right, up, all the way left, up, right to the exit.
5. Fifth monitor: all the way left, up, right twice, down, right, all the way up, left, down, all the way left, up, right and exit.
6. Sixth monitor: right, double up, right, double up, left, down, left, double down, double left, up, right, double up right and exit.

You can now cross the bridge. Behind it, another puzzle awaits you, which will allow you to get into the treehouse. On it you see four pairs of identical suns, orange color. The answer is: right, right, up, all the way left, up, right, up, up, right, down, right, right, up.

From this treehouse you can build the first purple bridge on your left side, or you can climb the steps to the top and build either a green bridge or an orange bridge. For a more consistent and faster solution, it is recommended to do the following.

Orange bridge with orange and purple suns (there will be green ones at the end)

Go up the steps on the right side. There will be a green monitor on one side and an orange one on the other. The green monitor will allow you to complete bonus tasks. Go to the orange monitor and solve the first three tasks. This time there will be suns of different colors on the monitors. As written earlier, you can only combine suns of the same colors in pairs. But you can also combine two pairs of different colors, three pairs of three different colors, etc. in one area. On the other hand, you cannot combine one orange and one purple sun. Here are the answers:

1. First monitor: all the way up.
2. Second monitor: all the way up. Here you will combine two pairs of suns of different colors.
3. Third monitor: left, up, right, right, up, up, left and exit. One pair of orange suns will be separated from two pairs of orange and purple suns.

After you have dealt with the first three riddles, you will need to pay attention to one feature of the fourth monitor. The labyrinth has three exits at once - at the top, left and right. The bridge will continue to unfold depending on which direction you draw the line (and there are as many possible solutions as there are exits from the maze). If the line goes to the right, then the bridge will subsequently go to the right. Either way, you can now solve the puzzle any way you like, then deal with the remaining monitors and return to the fourth screen. You just need to redo it to turn the already finished bridge in a different direction.

So, according to the plot, in order not to be distracted, the maze with four orange and four purple suns needs to be solved like this: left, up, right, right, up, up, left, left, a little down (half a division) and to the exit.

In order to assemble a complete bridge, you need to find a solution to the last five problems:

1. Fifth monitor: right, up three times, left three times, up, right twice and exit.
2. Sixth monitor: left twice, up, right three times, up, right, up, left three times, down, left, up twice, right twice and exit.
3. Seventh monitor: twice to the left, up, all the way to the right, twice up, all the way to the left, up, twice to the right and exit.
4. Eighth monitor: left, up, right three times to the wall, up, all the way left, up, right three times, up, left and exit.
5. Ninth monitor: up, right, up twice, all the way left, up, right twice and exit.

Once again you will see a monitor with three outputs. You need to turn the bridge to the left. This time the suns on the monitor are not two, but three colors - orange, purple and green. To do this, enter this:

The correct combination on the orange tile allows you to turn the bridge to the left.

Find the correct solution to the last two problems – the eleventh and twelfth in a row.

Penultimate monitor: up, left twice, up, right three times, down twice, right, all the way up, left twice and exit.

Last monitor: all the way to the right, twice up, all the way to the left, twice up, twice to the right and exit.

You will find yourself on a wooden slab with a red remote control. Draw a white U-shaped line. You will see a door open on the other side. The door will allow you to get to the ninth laser. But you can’t get to the door yet. After a while it will close automatically.

The first purple bridge with orange suns

Go down the steps and you will find yourself in the location where you have already visited. The adjacent staircase leads to the green and orange bridges (the green bridge is not considered in this walkthrough, but you just made the orange one). Next up is the purple bridge.

On the first five bridges the task does not change: separate the orange suns in pairs from each other. The solutions are:

1. First monitor: up twice, right, up, right, down, down, left, down, right twice, up three times, slightly left (half a division) and exit.
2. Second monitor: up, right, down, right, up, left, up, left, up, right, a little more to the right (half a division) and exit.
3. Third monitor: right, right, all the way up, left, twice down, left, down, left, down, left, all the way up, twice right and exit.
4. Fourth monitor: twice to the left, all the way up, right, twice down, twice to the right, twice down, right, all the way up, twice to the left and exit.
5. Fifth monitor: all the way to the right, all the way up, left, three times down, left, left, down, down, twice to the left, all the way up, twice to the right, twice down, right, twice up, a little to the left (half a division) and on the way out.

Second purple bridge with orange suns and colored squares

Run forward, go higher and you will see another purple monitor. The following monitors form a second purple bridge. This time the puzzles are more difficult than the previous ones. In addition to orange suns, there will be colored squares on the monitors. These squares, if you remember, need to be separated from each other by color. In this case, with a pair of suns there can be any number of squares of any colors.

Here is the answer to all seven purple bridge problems:

1. First monitor: a little to the left (half a division), up twice, left, up, right, a little more to the right (half a division) and to the exit.
2. Second monitor: a little to the left (half a division), up, left to the wall, up, right, up, a little to the right and to the exit.
3. Third monitor: a little to the right (half a division), up, left, up twice, a little to the right (half a division) and to the exit.
4. Fourth monitor: all the way to the right, up twice, left, down, left, down, left, up twice, right, up, a little to the right (half a division) and exit.
5. Fifth monitor: all the way to the left, up, all the way to the right, up, all the way to the left, up, right, a little more to the right (half a division) and exit.
6. Sixth monitor: all the way to the right, up twice, right three times, down once, right, up three times, left, down, left three times, up, right twice and half a division to the right, to the exit.
7. Seventh monitor: all the way to the left, up, right, up, three times to the right, twice up, left, down, all the way to the left, up, twice to the right, another half a division to the right and exit.

The second half of the orange bridge (black and white and colored suns and squares)

Follow forward to the orange monitor. This is the last bridge you will need to build. More precisely, this part of the orange bridge will pass by the house with an opening door and come into contact with the orange bridge that you built earlier. This way, you can activate the red U-shaped remote control and quickly run through the opened door. But first we need to assemble this bridge.

One important feature: you cannot combine suns and cubes of the same colors! That is, to a pair of orange suns you can add a cube of any color except orange.

And here are the solutions to the first eight puzzles (on the first five monitors all elements are black and white):

1. First monitor: all the way to the left, up, all the way to the right, up, twice to the left and all the way up.
2. Second monitor: all the way to the left, up, twice to the right and all the way up.
3. Third monitor: similar to the previous one.
4. Fourth monitor: all the way to the left, three times up, right, twice down, all the way to the right, up, twice to the left, all the way up.
5. Fifth monitor: right, up, left, up.
6. Sixth monitor (colored elements appeared): right, up, right, up, left twice, down, left, up twice, right, half a division further to the right and exit.
7. Seventh monitor: all the way to the right, up, twice to the left, down, left, twice up, all the way to the right, up, left, a little more to the left half a division and exit.
8. Eighth monitor: all the way to the left, up, twice to the right, up, twice to the left, twice up, right, down, twice to the right, all the way down, right, all the way up, twice to the right and exit.

The ninth monitor will have three outputs at once, as usual. Make the bridge turn right. And here's the answer:

The correct combination of orange tiles, allowing you to turn the next bridge to the right.

It remains to find the answer to the last six riddles. Nothing new - just a complicated version of old puzzles. The answers are:

1. First monitor: a little to the left by half a division, up, to the left, all the way up, to the right, even more to the right by half a division and to the exit.
2. Second monitor: all the way up.
3. Third monitor: up, left, up, left, up, all the way to the right, up, left twice and exit.
4. Fourth monitor: all the way to the right, up, all the way to the left, all the way up, right, down, right, down, twice to the right, twice up, twice to the left and exit.
5. Fifth monitor: right, double up, left, up, right, up, left and exit.
6. Sixth monitor: all the way left, three times up, right, twice down, twice right, down, right, twice up, twice left, up, twice right, up, twice left and exit.

Run to the red remote control, activate it and cross the orange bridge through the opened door. Inside the house you will find an orange remote control with a regular key. Draw a curved line. The ninth laser is activated. Leave the treehouses the same way you came here, and then go to the boat.

14. STONE QUARRY AND SAWMILL.

How to get to a quarry (quarry) or sawmill?

You can go there by boat. But if you have never been there and have not lowered the bridge, then you will not be able to go ashore. Remember the autumn garden with the trees that had yellow leaves? You were already there and activated the laser. Go towards this garden. To the left of it on the map is a quarry. There seems to be a metal or stone bridge leading to it. The passage to the quarry will be closed. But this is no longer a problem for you?!

At the first gate there will be a puzzle where you need to separate cubes of different colors. On the second door there is a riddle with Tetris figures.

The first gate of the quarry

To solve, draw a line as follows: up, right, down, right, right, up, right, up, all the way left, up, right, up, right, right, down, right, up.

Second gate of the quarry

To solve the second riddle: right, up, up, right, down, down, right twice, up, left, up twice, left three times, up, all the way to the right.

You will find yourself in the territory of a quarry. On the left side there is a stone building. Go to the end of it and turn the corner. There will be a gate to the inside.

Gate to the inside of the quarry building

There are two puzzles on the gate on a blue and green monitor. Blue's solution: up three times, left, up, left twice, down, left, down twice, right, down, right and exit. Solution on the green monitor: up, up, right, all the way down, all the way to the right, all the way up, twice left, up, twice left, twice down, left, all the way up, all the way to the right.

Inside the Quarry (new type of riddles)

Go inside and look around. You won't find any difficult puzzles at the bottom. There is a door on the left that you can open by drawing a straight line. Find the blue monitor on the control panel. You see the lines in the form of a triangle. Draw a line diagonally from the lower right corner to the upper left exit. This puzzle has only one solution. This simple riddle will help you solve three line icon puzzles. This is what we're talking about:

In the screenshot, a new symbol is highlighted - this is the cancel sign.

This icon automatically removes one extra element that does not satisfy the conditions for solving the puzzle. For example, there is a white dot on this monitor. But we drew the line and ignored it. In any other previous puzzle, if we had done this, it would not have been solved. But here, in view of the fact that there is that same icon, the solution to the puzzle was counted.

Another example: if you solve a puzzle and ignore the content of three suns of the same color in one area, but there is that same icon on the map (and it is inside this area), then the solution to the third sun will be automatically deleted. If there are four suns, then one such element will not work against two suns at once.

Thus, one element with three sticks allows you to destroy any other element (exclusively one) so that the puzzle is solved correctly.

After entering what was shown above on the monitor, the platform a meter away will rise, you can climb along it to other monitors with riddles. Here you will improve your acquired knowledge. There will be dots and that same element on the monitors. For the solution to count, you must connect all the dots except one. It should be remembered that the element and this point must be in the same area. The solutions to the six puzzles are as follows:

1. First monitor: twice to the right and twice up.
2. Second monitor: all the way to the right, twice up, twice to the left, up and twice to the right.
3. Third monitor: all the way to the right, up, all the way to the left, twice up, twice to the right, down, right and up.
4. Fourth monitor: right, up, left, all the way up, twice to the right, all the way down, right and all the way up.
5. Fifth monitor: twice to the right, twice up, left, down, left, twice up and all the way to the right.
6. Sixth monitor: all the way to the right, twice up, left, down, twice to the left, twice up and all the way to the right.

After that, without going down, find another blue panel and draw a line down, to the right side and up to the very end. The platform nearby will begin to rise. Don't get distracted and wait for her to be on the same level with you. Quickly run onto it and wait for it to rise even higher. Follow the walls along the bridge, go through the control room and find new monitors.

Monitors with red and green squares

This time there will be red and green squares and an exclusion symbol. You must be sure to leave one extra square in the same area with the exclusion symbol. For example, in an area with all red squares, it is possible and even necessary to leave one white square if the exclusion symbol is located there.

On eight monitors there will be the following solutions (numbered in order of inclusion):

1. First monitor: up, right, up, right.
2. Second monitor: up, right, up, right, up, right.
3. Third Monitor: Same as Second Monitor.
4. Fourth monitor: all the way to the right, up, left, up, right, up.
5. Fifth monitor: up, right twice, up, left twice, up twice, right, down, right, up, right, down twice, right, up twice.
6. Sixth monitor: up, right, right, up, left, left, up, up, right, down, right, right, down, right, up, up.
7. Seventh monitor: right three times, up, right, up twice, left, up, right.
8. Eighth monitor: twice to the right, up, right, up, three times to the right, up, all the way to the right.

Return to the control room, where one monitor will light up. After solving it, the second monitor in another part of the control room will light up.

On the monitor with red and green squares, the answer is as follows: from the center to the left, down, left, down, right twice, up, right, up twice, left three times, up, all the way to the right.

On the monitor, where you can draw a blue line through a maze with black and white elements, move like this: left twice, down twice, right six times, up three times, right, up four times, left, down twice, left four times, up twice , left, down, left, up.

You can now go back past the previously solved eight puzzles behind the control room. Here another monitor is activated. It has red and yellow squares arranged symmetrically. Draw a line like this: left, down, left, down, left, down, etc. to the bottom left corner. From there, move all the way to the right.

Passage to the tenth laser at the quarry

Go down the lowered stairs and continue moving in a straight line from it. On the right side there will be another door, which this time you can open. Draw a line. This door is located opposite the door you opened when entering the quarry building. Anyway, there is a staircase behind the door. Go up, turn right, right again and take a couple of steps forward. Do you see a yellow box on a hill? This is a laser. But for now you don’t have to go to it, because you need to activate the cable that goes to the box from the sawmill. The cable from the quarry, which is also connected to the box, is already activated.

Sawmill or logging

Next in the passage of The Witness to the site is a visit to the logging station. Go down and look at the shore. There is a wooden building there. This is the so-called sawmill. Go inside and look for the stairs on the side. Get down and solve some of the toughest puzzles in the game.

On a monitor with black and white suns, draw a line like this: up, left, left, down, all the way left, up, twice right, up, all the way right, twice up, left, down, all the way left, up, twice right, up and all the way to the left.

On another monitor, where there are Tetris figures, draw a line as follows: up three times, right, down twice, right, down, right, all the way up, right.

Get out of this hole and find the blue control panel. On the remote control you see a strip of yellow cubes at an angle. Thus, the figure can be on the screen both vertically and horizontally. Solution: move out of the circle to the right twice, then turn all the way to the opposite wall, and then to the exit.

This solution will allow you to raise a platform on which you can climb to higher ground. Do so. There are five more sawmill puzzles waiting for you here. The answers are as follows:

1. First monitor: all the way up, right, twice down, twice right, twice up.
2. Second monitor: up twice, right twice, up, left twice, up, all the way to the right.
3. Third monitor: three times to the right, all the way up, to the right.
4. Fourth monitor: up, twice to the right, down, right, twice up, all the way to the left, up, all the way to the right.
5. Fifth monitor: all the way up, right twice, down, left, down, right twice, up, right, up.

A passage will open on the side. Approach another blue monitor. There are two solutions to it. Separate the right pair in the puzzle so that the previously raised platform moves to the right. While it is moving, you must have time to go down it. Otherwise, return the platform to the left, separating the left pair. To do this, draw a line all the way down, to the left, twice up, all the way to the left and all the way down.

Climb up the platform when it stops at the shore. Walk across the bridge to another logging wall. There will be more puzzles here - nine of them. Solutions below.

1. First monitor: up, all the way to the right, all the way up.
2. Second monitor: up, right, up, left, up, all the way to the right.
3. Third monitor: right, up, right twice, down, right, up twice, all the way left, up, right twice, up, right twice.
4. Fourth monitor: up, right, right, down, right, right, up, up, all the way left, up, up, all the way right.
5. Fifth monitor: all the way to the right, up, twice to the left, twice up, twice to the left, up, all the way to the right.
6. Sixth monitor: right, all the way up, twice right, down, left, all the way down, right, twice up, right, twice up.
7. Seventh monitor: right, twice up, left, twice up, right, down, right, all the way down, all the way right, up, left, twice up, right, up.
8. Eighth monitor: up, right, all the way up, right, three times down, twice right and all the way up.
9. Ninth monitor: up, all the way to the right, up, left twice, all the way up and right twice.

Three more monitors are activated. Approach them and figure out the solution:

Solving the last three puzzles in the logging building.

Finally, you will need to find a solution on a blue monitor. Draw a line as follows: down, four times to the left, down, all the way to the right, down, all the way to the left, up, right, up, left, up.

Now you can safely climb the mountain and activate the penultimate laser. All that's left is to explore the city!

15. CITY.

How to get to the city?

Since you have already reached this part of the walkthrough, you probably know where the city is. It is located in the same place as the windmill.

First cable to the tower

Go to the city area with the statues. Find a bright building where there will be closed door with red suns and yellow Tetris figures. On the left side there should be another door with multi-colored suns. But first, about the first door. You can solve the puzzle like this:

Solving one of the puzzles in the city. It will allow you to open the front door of a dilapidated building.

The door will open slightly. This door has yellow glass. Through this glass, take a close look at the next door. As you can see, the colors are completely different. Memorize them, find the solution and go to the door to draw a line as follows: all the way up, right, twice down, right, twice down, twice right, up, left, twice up, left, up, twice right.

Behind the door you will see a wooden fence with a puzzle. Unfortunately, I was unable to figure out how to solve this puzzle on my own. Surely you need to somehow look here at an angle, through some hole, in order to see the correct sequence of the line. Anyway, draw a line like this: twice up, left, twice down, left, up, left, up, right, up, left.

Where is the laser in the city?

The cable from this puzzle will go straight to the tower in the center. At the top of this tower is a yellow box containing the final laser. You must solve several puzzles in the city in order to supply power to the tower. Then the necessary passages will open and you can climb to the top using the stairs both inside and on the outside of the tower.

Building with blue columns inside (second cable to the tower)

Find a building that has partially blue columns inside. There is a slightly open door with a puzzle. Using the columns inside the building, find the answer: right three times, up, left twice, up, left, up, right, up, right, down, right, down, right, up twice.

Behind the door a ladder will descend. Climb up to the roof of the building. On the left side there is a yellow monitor. Behind him there are yellow platforms. Depending on what solution you enter on the monitor, the yellow platforms form a bridge of one shape or another. You need to enter this solution:

The correct combination is on the roof of one of the houses in the city, and behind the monitor there is a bridge of the desired shape.

Now go through the resulting bridge and find five puzzles on the right side. After solving them, you will supply power to the tower via the second cable. On all monitors you will draw one line, and in parallel with it a second line will be drawn, mirroring the first. Below you will find a step-by-step solution to all five puzzles, and you need to start moving from the lower left circle.

1. First monitor: twice up, right, up, right, twice up, twice left.
2. Second monitor: twice to the right, all the way up, twice to the left.
3. Third monitor: right twice, all the way up, left, down, left, up.
4. Fourth monitor: right twice, up, right, down, right, up twice, all the way left, all the way up.
5. Fifth monitor: right four times, up twice, left twice, down, left, up, left, all the way up.

Third cable

Go down and go closer to the shore. Among the trees, find a new puzzle with a transparent screen. Here you need to draw symmetrical lines as follows:

The right combination to solve one of the puzzles on the outskirts of the city, closer to the sea.

Follow the cable that comes from the monitor with the puzzle solved. It will take you to a white screen with a yellow grid. You need to draw the green line correctly. On half of this screen there is complete shadow on the right, on the other half there is a shadow from the vines. Where you see the shadow of the vines, there is a clue. You must follow the lines. At the same time, the second part of the puzzle is invisible. And it is invisible for the reason that after these vines there is a column that casts a shadow on the right half of the screen. Anyway, the answer is: up twice, right, down, right, down, right twice, up, left, up, left, up, left twice, up, right three times, down, right, up.

The green cable will lead you to a monitor with an unusual image. You see a black cross with strokes on a green background. Nearby there is a tree with one apple. The tree has four main branches. In the picture you also see four lines coming out from the center. So this tree will help you find the correct answer. And he’s like this: draw the line down to the second mark from bottom to top.

Follow the pink cable, which will lead you to the ruins nearby. There will be a huge monitor here. There are three cables coming out of the monitor. On the monitor you also see a maze with three exits. You need to enter three solutions so that all three outputs are used. Each of these outputs activates a specific cable - red, yellow or orange (these are the colors they have after activation).

First, draw a line from the center as follows: diagonally top left, diagonal bottom left, diagonal bottom right, right, diagonal top right, twice right, up, twice left, up, twice left, down, left, up.

The second solution that needs to be entered is this (draw a line from the lower left point): up, left, up, right, right, diagonally right top, up, right, down, diagonally right bottom, right, down, right, down .

The third solution is this (you need to draw a line from the upper right circle): to the right, twice down, left, down, left, diagonally right top, left, diagonally left bottom, diagonally left top, left, up, left, twice down, right, down, left.

Next, climb to the roof of the same ruins, where the orange cable goes. There will be a triple puzzle here, repeating the ones you solved in the desert. Remember? You need to look at it from a certain angle to find the answer. Try to find the answer yourself, but if you don’t succeed, then draw a line like this:

Solving a monitor from a triple puzzle related to the correct angle of sunlight reflection.

Follow down and go a little forward, towards the mill. On the left side there will be ruins, among which you can find a wall with five new monitors. Solve the puzzles as follows:

1. First monitor: up, right, down, right, up three times, left, down, left, up twice, right three times, all the way down, right, all the way up.
2. Second monitor: all the way up, right, down twice, right, down, left, down, right three times, up, left, up, right, up, left twice, up, right twice.
3. Third monitor: right, up, left, up, right, up, left, up, right twice, all the way down, right twice, up, left, up, right, up, left, up, right.
4. Fourth monitor: up, right, down, right, up, right, down, right, right three times, left, down, left, up, left, down, left, up twice, all the way to the right.
5. Fifth monitor: twice to the right, up, twice to the left, up, three times to the right, twice down, right, three times up, all the way to the left, up, all the way to the right.

Now you can go upstairs and find the solution to the last puzzle in the series. You need to draw a line like this: all the way up, three times to the right, down, twice to the left, all the way down, right, twice up, right, twice down, right, all the way up. The last cable will supply the necessary energy to the tower. Climb to the top of the tower and activate the eleventh laser.

16. MOUNTAIN.

What should you do before going to the mountain?

Before climbing the mountain, make sure to activate the eleven lasers. Previous chapters described how and where to activate them.

But that's not all. The laser that was activated in the ruins in the middle of the desert was pointing in a completely different direction. The laser beam passes through the city described in the previous chapter. Go to the city and, guided by the beam, find a mirror on a hill. Rotate this mirror using the labyrinth shown below it. Make sure the mirror reflects the beam straight up the mountain.

Go to the mountain. Finding it is simple - move to the place where the rays point and go up. There are two statues under the stone arch. One man is carrying a box, and the other is carrying a film reel. The orange puzzle on the box should be activated. Draw a line to activate the puzzle on the floor.

Now you must enter the solution to this puzzle so as to activate the three yellow lines. That is, you need to enter three solutions. This is difficult to do, since it is impossible to draw a line through the statues. In addition to the fact that you must find the solution itself, this solution must also be entered correctly (take good position, which is the same for each solution). It’s impossible to explain, so I can only attach screenshots:

The screenshot shows where you need to stand and how to draw a line to open a passage into the mountain.

INSIDE THE MOUNTAIN

Go down the stairs. In the room, go up the other stairs to the second floor. What you depict on the monitor will happen in reality. On the floor below, a lilac path will appear in the center of the room. First, draw this bridge like this: to the left, twice up, twice to the right, all the way up, twice to the right, up, right, four times down, right, all the way up and to the right.

Yellow monitors

Go down and take the lilac path. On the left wall there are several yellow monitors. Start entering correct solutions on the first four monitors. These monitors are broken up and mixed up. You must first mentally connect them together, and then find the right solution. Only then start entering. By the way, all lines on yellow monitors must be drawn from the lower left corner. Do not pay attention to the fact that the pictures are upside down and the circle is in different places. In any case, click on the lower left corner on the monitor and you will see a line appear.

Anyway, below you see the answers:

The answer to the first four puzzles is on the yellow monitors hanging on the left wall.

On the next monitor the picture will move. Moreover, depending on the direction in which you draw the line, the movement of the picture on the screen will be slow or fast. The answer is: all the way to the right, up twice, left, up, left, down twice, left, all the way up, all the way to the right.

On the sixth monitor, the frames will constantly change. The answer is: right three times, up, left three times, up, right, up, right, up, right, down, right, up.

On the seventh monitor, the picture will rotate around its axis. But there is one peculiarity: no matter how the picture is turned upside down, if you move the mouse to the right side on the table, then the line will move to the right side of the initial position of the maze. The answer is: all the way to the right, three times up, left, twice down, twice to the left, all the way up, all the way to the right.

Change track

Now go back to the remote control, which sets the position of the track. Enter the following value: right twice, up, right, up, left five times, up, all the way right, up, left five times, up, right three times, all the way up.

Follow down and follow the path. On both sides of the pile of rubbish in the center of the room you can find upside-down purple monitors. One of them is vertical, the other is horizontal.

On the vertical purple monitor, enter the following answer: four times to the right, up, right, up, four times to the left, down, left, all the way up, right, down twice, four times to the right, up, three times to the left, twice up, all the way to the right .

On a horizontal purple monitor, draw a line like this: all the way to the right, up, four times to the left, up, left, all the way up, twice to the right, three times down, three times to the right, up, twice to the left, twice up, all the way to the right.

Second track change

And again return to the third floor and change the path as follows: all the way to the right, up, right, up, five times to the left, up, all the way to the right, up, five times to the left, up, left, up to the exit.

Blue monitors

Go down and run along the path to the far left corner. There will be a passage to a room with blue monitors. First, study all the monitors and decide on the answers. Afterwards they need to be entered in a certain way, as shown in the screenshot. Enter the line of two symmetrical ones that you can draw, and nothing bothers you.

In the screenshot you can see how you need to look at the blue monitors to enter the correct answers.

Green monitors

Get out of here and follow the path to the wall with green monitors. Here you will need to find answers, trying to figure out what is depicted there. The picture on the monitors is distorted, which, in fact, is the main difficulty of the puzzles. Here are the answers:

1. First monitor: right three times, up, right, up, left twice, down, left twice, up, right, up, left, up, right twice, down, right, down, right.
2. Second monitor: all the way to the right, up, all the way to the left, up, right, up, left, up, twice to the right, twice down, right, twice up, right.
3. Third monitor: twice up, twice to the right, twice up, right, all the way down, right, all the way up.
4. Fourth monitor: up, twice to the right, down, all the way to the right, three times up, left, down, left, up, all the way to the left, up, all the way to the right.
5. Fifth monitor: up, right, down, all the way to the right, up, twice left, up, twice left, twice up, right, down, right, up, all the way to the right.

Third track change

And again, you will have to return to the control panel of the floor above and enter a new solution to change the path in the center of the location: all the way to the right, up, right, up, left five times, up, right five times, up, left five times, twice up, all the way to the right. Now along this path you can get to the exit from the location and go down to the lower floor.

Multi-colored monitors

Going downstairs, you will find yourself in a similar room. On the right wall you can see multi-colored monitors. This is the main difficulty of these puzzles. And the answers here will be:

1. First monitor: to the right, all the way up, to the right, three times down, twice to the right, all the way up.
2. Second monitor: three times up, right, up, right, all the way down, right, three times up, right, up.
3. Third monitor: four times right, up, right, up, three times left, down, twice left, up, right, up, twice right, up, right, up, right.
4. Fourth monitor: up three times, right four times, down, left three times, down twice, right, up, right three times, up, right, up, left, up, left twice, up, right three times and up.
5. Fifth monitor: four times right, up, left, up, twice left, up, left, up, twice right, down, twice right, down, right, twice up, twice left, up, twice right.

Now find a ladder here and climb it to the “balcony”. There will be a remote control with which you can create a blue path in the center of the room. Enter the following value: right twice, up twice, right, up, left twice, down, left twice, down twice, left, all the way up, left.

Pale green monitors

Go down and follow the path to the room opposite. So you see the first monitor with one point. Draw any line through this point. Next, the second monitor will light up. It will have black and white squares. These squares, as you know, need to be divided. But when drawing a line, you must remember that there is also a black dot on the monitor, only it is shown on the previous screen. Is the meaning clear? On each new screen, you need to draw a line so as to satisfy all the elements on the previous monitors. And here's the answer:

1. First monitor: any line through a point.
2. Second monitor: four times up, all the way to the right and up.
3. Third monitor: four times up, right, up, right, three times down, twice right, up, right, up, twice left, up, twice right.
4. Fourth monitor: four times to the right, up, three times to the left, all the way up, three times to the right, down, twice to the left, twice down, right, up, right, down, right, all the way up.
5. Fifth monitor: four times up, right, all the way down, right, up, right, down, twice right, up, left, twice up, left, down, left, twice up, all the way right and up.
6. Sixth monitor: three times to the right, up, three times to the left, up, right, twice up, left, up, four times to the right, down, twice to the left, twice down, right, up, right, down, right, all the way up.

Draw paths to leave the location

If you go upstairs from this room, you will find another remote control with which you can draw lines for a new bridge at the location - yellow. A path of blue and yellow colors will be on the location at the same time. You must now do everything in such a way as to follow the blue path through the passage that you see on the right if you stand behind this remote control (brown door on the wall).

Don't touch anything here for now. Go back and draw the blue path as follows: all the way to the right, twice up, left, down, three times left, down, left, three times up, left and up.

Go to the other side and draw a yellow path like this: right, up twice, left twice, down, left twice and down.

Return to the blue remote control and draw the blue path differently: right, up, left three times, up twice, left and up.

And again you need to go to the yellow remote control to draw a yellow path as follows: to the right, up twice, all the way to the right and all the way down.

For the last time, return to the blue remote control and draw a line: all the way to the right, up, all the way to the left.

Now follow the blue path through the wall and enter the elevator. Draw a line from the circle at the top to the bottom left corner. The elevator will go down.

After the elevator

Go to the new room. Wait until the four monitors on the floor light up. Below are the answers to these four puzzles. The numbering goes from the left near monitor and counterclockwise (right near, right far, left far). Solution:

1. First monitor: up, right three times, down, right and all the way up.
2. Second monitor: left three times, up twice, right, up, left twice and up.
3. Third monitor: all the way up, left twice, down, left, down, left, up.
4. Fourth monitor: up, twice to the right, twice up, left, down, left, up all the way and right all the way.

Go back a little to get away from the floor where these monitors are. Turn around and see that the floor is a huge puzzle. You will draw a symmetrical line. Draw a line from the right-hand circle like this: left twice, up, right, up four times, left and to the door.

Go through the opened door and stand on the button next to it. Two puzzles will open. You have limited time. In just 10 seconds these puzzles will be replaced with others. You must have time in 10 seconds: think and find the correct solution to at least one of them. If you managed to enter the solution correctly, then the next time you change, only the puzzle that you have not yet solved will be replaced. Each time, as you understand, the puzzles are different, so here you will have to rely on your own strength. However, by this moment you should be so trained that this moment will not seem like a problem for you.

Columns

After solving two puzzles, you will be able to go into the hall with columns. All that remains is to find solutions to the puzzles on the columns.

First column from the left (with dots): right twice, up twice, left, down, left, up, left twice, down, right, down, left twice, and up twice.
The first column on the right (yellow suns): up twice, right, up, right, down all the way, right twice, up all the way, right twice and up to the exit.
Second column on the right (yellow suns and dots): left, up twice, left four times, down, left, up all the way, where the exit is.
Second column from the left (black and white squares): up, left four times, down, left, up three times, right three times, down (between white and black), right twice, up to the exit.
Third column from the left (Tetris figures): right, up, left, up, right, up twice, right, up, right, down, right, all the way down, right, three times up, right, all the way up (on exit).
Fourth column from the left (black and white squares, yellow suns). Go around the column and at the top, two squares to the left of the sun, find the starting circle. Draw the line as follows: down twice, right twice, up, right, down, right, up, right, up, left twice and exit.
Third column from the right (points, gaps and several starting places). There will be three circles at the bottom that you can start from. Choose the one to the left of the others. Draw the line like this: left, up, left, down, left twice (step into the right starting place), up, right, up, right, up, right, down, right, down, right, up, right, up, right, up, left twice, down, left, up, left twice and exit.
Fourth column from the right (dots and two symmetrical lines): start from the bottom starting place, which is opposite the previous column. Move like this: right twice, up, right twice, up, right, up, right, up, right twice, up, right and exit.

Another elevator will appear, this time from under the water. Enter it, turn around and look up. Draw lines to close the doors. Turn around again so your back is to the entrance. Draw simple lines and watch the ending of the game.

Here comes The Witness, which is one of the most anticipated indie puzzle games of 2016. The players liked it, but as always, there were people who found it very boring. In this article we will talk about how to play The Witness so that its passage is as exciting, effective and interesting as possible.

Attention is the key to success

You simply can't play The Witness without paying attention. The point is that there are tiny details everywhere in the game that you need to pay attention to. Without them, you will not be able to solve riddles and puzzles that you will encounter almost everywhere. While wandering around the area, be as concentrated as possible, find hidden clues and then you will be able to solve the nearest puzzle without any problems.

Sequencing

Since The Witness allows you to explore locations in any order, many players start solving puzzles in any order. This is wrong because it violates the general concept of the game. Move from zone to zone sequentially, after solving all the riddles in it.

There are clues in the puzzles themselves.

All game puzzles are divided into areas, each of which contains several riddles of different complexity. Start with the easiest ones to understand the principle of solving them, and gradually move on to more complex ones. So, you will understand the essence of the riddles without any problems and can easily cope with even the most complex tasks.

Follow the wires

In some puzzles you can find wires that connect the puzzles. Pay attention to their direction, so as not to tangle the cables when solving a particular puzzle.

Play fair

If you take this article, it is for informational purposes only and does not contain methods for solving riddles. You should not resort to puzzle answers or cheats. You will not only kill all the interest of the passage, but also spoil the overall impression of the game. The whole point of The Witness is puzzles and solving them yourself.

At the very beginning of the game you are presented with several simple riddles. On a yellow background you see either a straight or curved line. You need to draw a line from the large circle to the very end and then the door will open. Below are the solutions.

Next there will be a small fortress with similar, but slightly more complicated riddles. You need to find solutions on all the yellow monitors to supply power through three cables to the monitor at the door. After solving the riddle on the monitor next to the door, the door itself will open. In general, solve those puzzles where the monitors are turned on. It's simple, screenshots below.

Secret

When you open the gate, do not rush to leave the location. Stand with your back to the open gate and go to the tower in the far right corner of the fortress. There is a monitor with two cables, remember? Here is a screenshot (you need to light a different cable, not the one that goes to the door):

Next, exit the location through the same gate and walk along the left wall. Circle around the fortress until you see open door. Behind the door there will be another puzzle on another door where you need to connect all the black dots.

Behind the door there will be a small courtyard with a tree. There is an audio recording lying under the tree that you can listen to. Nearby on the ground lies a fallen riddle with a yellow triangle (answer below). Finally, solve the puzzle on the door, which will take you back to the path leading away from the fortress.

A map of the entire island is below. Save it for yourself!

Follow the path. On the right side you should see a passage. But this passage will allow you to enjoy the view of the pond and that’s it. Follow the path further. Turning left leads to a hut underground. Do you see the white door? There is a puzzle on the door. In our separate article there is a guide to solving all the riddles in The Witness. You can read it and understand that to solve this puzzle you need to separate the black and white cubes from each other. The solution is below.

As you can see from the last screenshot above, you will find a chest inside. Open it with the simplest line and you will see a sheet of paper with some kind of hint. Save it for yourself for the future! Take a screenshot using the Print Screen key and it will appear in the Screenshots folder inside the main folder with the game installed.

Leave the hut and go left. Do you see a building with a green monitor on the right and a purple monitor in front? These monitors are rather training and educational. After completing riddles on them, you will come to a conclusion on how to solve certain puzzles. Go to the house on the right and start solving the puzzle. Here you need to draw a line so that it touches all additional points. The solution is below.

As for the purple monitors, the task here is to separate the white cubes from the black ones. The solution is below.

Next, pay attention to the garden with pink trees. Do you see? Go there and you will see the first green monitor. The monitor shows what looks like a tree. A line can be drawn from only one circle, but in several directions. The line must end on one of the branches. Pay attention to the tree standing nearby. Its branches repeat the structure of the picture on the monitor. There is an apple on one of the branches. Determine what this branch is on the monitor and you will find a solution. On the first monitor you can make mistakes as many times as you like. But when you solve the second monitor puzzle, if you make an error, you will need to return to the first monitor and re-draw the line. It's not that difficult, but it still wastes time. Below are screenshots with the solution.

There is no apple on the last tree at all. But if you chose the right solution or used our hint above, a gate will open nearby. Go through it and you will see a limited location. On the left there is a plate with a cut apple. There is a branch next to the plate. This thread has been broken. Thus, we immediately guessed this and found a solution for the broken branch. It was enough to look at the tree at the last monitor and find the missing branch.

Symmetry (first laser)

Go back to the purple monitors and stand so that you are looking towards the sea, with the monitors on the left, as in the screenshot below.

Follow the path that goes between the stones. on the left will be big house by the sea. Approach the door and find the solution to the puzzle. You see two circles from which you can draw a line. A line can be drawn from any of them, but note that a second line will be drawn automatically from another circle. The second line repeats all your actions in mirror order. Draw a line from the lower right circle once to the left and all the way up. It's simple!

Go inside the house with some colored vases. Find the working monitor in the far left corner and solve all the remaining puzzles in order. Next, three monitors will be on some building in the center of the room. So the decisions have arrived!

Please note that after solving the last riddle, the green cable leaves the house somewhere to the left. Leave the house too. Follow the path to the left and go up to the door where the cable connects. Solve the puzzle on the door. You need to connect all the dots and draw a line to the exit.

When the gate opens, you will see another one. No food was served to them. Don't go up to the gate, but turn right. Look to the right and you will see the first working monitor. Thus, you will solve all the puzzles on these monitors and will have to follow the blue cable further to new puzzles.

New riddles will have innovation. It doesn’t matter where you start drawing the line, but it will always be blue, and the mirror one will always be yellow. At the same time, where necessary, draw a yellow line through the yellow dots, and a blue line through the blue ones. All dots must be covered. If you see black dot, then any line can be drawn along it. The answers are below.

There will be another innovation on the next monitors. There are seven monitors in total. On the first four monitors, the yellow line will be visible worse and worse. On other monitors it will not be visible at all. You'll have to imagine. But to solve it, just look at the screenshots below.

Go to the gate and solve the puzzle on it.

Go up to the location and see a yellow cube ahead. There are monitors on the right and left. Solve the puzzles on the right monitors in order - there are only three of them. You need to draw a yellow line through all the yellow dots. There doesn’t seem to be anything special on the blue monitors, but you remember the connection between blue and yellow in previous riddles? Mirror image, that's right! Thus, you must mirror what is shown on the yellow monitors on the blue monitors. The solution to both is below.

Note. If there is an error in entering the blue line, for example, on the second monitor, you will need to repeat the correct blue line entry on the first monitor, since the second monitor will turn off. The same applies to the third monitor (although you will have to repeat it on the second). On the first monitor, if you enter incorrectly, nothing special will happen.

Puzzle solving

1. Castle
The Witness. Walkthrough

We appear inside a white pipe-corridor. In front of us is a door with an orange panel instead of a lock. Use the left mouse button to aim to start drawing with your finger, start with a round thickening, draw a line to the end of the line, press the button again to finish drawing. With the right button we can remove aiming. We open the second door on the way in the same way.

1. We go to the surface into the garden inside the ruined fortress. Here the simplest puzzle with the orange panel is in front, let's go to it. After solving it, we see that the cable lights up, we go along it. We solve all subsequent puzzles in the same way. We need all three cables coming to the white lattice gate to light up.

2. In the right tower from the entrance to the puzzle there are two starting points, start with the right one.

3. In the left tower it’s the other way around - the puzzle has one beginning, but two end points. We draw a line to the bottom end to power the bottom cable.

We go to the gate, solve the puzzle on the lock, and get out of here.

Secret. We return inside the fortress, in the left tower from the entrance we switch the panel so that the line comes to the upper output to power the cable going out the window. We leave the castle, go around it to the shore, and see the door that has opened. Behind it is a door with a green panel.

In the green puzzle the task is more difficult - you need to draw a line from start to finish so that it covers all the black dots on the way.

We enter a separate room. Here we solve a small floor panel (1), in it the number of triangles shows how many faces need to be painted on a square with such a symbol.

On the right under the tree we find audio message (1).

We can exit the secret through another door; to do this we need to solve another green puzzle.

Secret. Coming out through the gate, go left, climb up the slope onto the castle wall, walk along the wall to the right. We go to the roof-canopy in the center, there is hidden behind the pillows audio message (2). We listen to it by pressing LMB.

2. Glade
The Withnes. Walkthrough

Secret. Let's go further along the path. On the left there will be a path leading to a bunker in the cave. There is a large white puzzle on the door, in which we need to draw a line so that it goes through all the black dots on the way, and at the same time separates the white dots from the black ones that are drawn on the squares.

Inside the bunker we find a pedestal, on the left side we activate it, on the open table we see hexagonal cipher (1/6)- drawing of a line drawn through hexagons. Remember this line, this is the code to open a video message inside the mill.

We go out into the clearing. We go into an open wooden house, here we must undergo training on how to solve green puzzles. You need to draw a line so that it covers all the black dots on the way.

In the clearing on the left we go through training on how to solve blue puzzles. You need to draw a line in them as a border so that all the white dots are on one side and the black dots on the other.

3. Cottage on the shore
Witness. Walkthrough Symmetry

1. At the entrance to the house, solve a puzzle where the right side is mirrored to the left.

2. Inside we go to the far wall. Here you need to solve 5 of the same mirror puzzles.

3. We go to the central square column, solve 3 puzzles on one side, then 3 on the other. We go along the green wire to the next location.

4. Cliffs with red trees
Walkthrough of the game The Witness. Symmetry

The green cable leads us to the entrance to the rocks where redwood trees grow. At the entrance there is a regular puzzle. But then there are mirror puzzles, they must be solved in order to open the second doors.

1. We start from the right bank, there are 5 riddle panels.

2. 6 pieces in the center. Here our line is blue, and the mirror line is yellow. Each line must pass through points of its own color. Puzzles are solved from right to left.

3. On the left there are 7 pieces. Puzzles are solved from right to left. And the further you go to the left, the dimmer it gets yellow. The trajectory of the yellow line must be drawn mentally so that it passes through all the necessary points, guided only by the blue line.

4. Having solved the puzzles on the edges of the rocks, we go to open the second door. Behind it is a central platform with the next test. The panels are blue on the left, yellow on the right. The colored dots along which you need to draw lines are visible only on the yellow panels, and on the blue panels you need to repeat the same lines in a mirror image from memory. The last blue panel is not mirrored, but rotated 180 degrees, which can be very confusing.

After completing all the tasks on the central platform, the cannon opens and fires a laser at the top of the mountain on the other side of the island.

5. From the central platform of the rocks we go down to the left puzzle, from it along an inconspicuous path to the left, we get to lower tier, where there are 5 single puzzles. In them, you need to use lines to repeat the contours of the rocks of the columns that stand in the water. In the last riddles you need to look at the rocks from a different angle to figure out how to draw the lines.

A mysterious island full of puzzles, secrets and allusions, dozens of obstacles on the path to the truth and only your own mind and logic as weapons. The beginning is worthy of a good detective story or a quest in the spirit of the legendary Myst. Alas, the only real mystery during The Witness is the search for the answer to the question “Is there anything special here?”

Now that video games are so firmly entrenched in world culture, and independent developers have the opportunity to calmly express themselves thanks to Steam and similar services, we can easily talk about the so-called “projects not for everyone” - unusual, strange works that many often equate with works of art.

The puzzle-platformer Braid, released in 2008, was a harbinger of their boom - and, unlike many other pioneers, it was a success from all points of view: wonderful gameplay complemented a simple, but understandable and intelligent plot, and all this was framed by a colorful picture and great music that turned an already excellent game of something extraordinary. Much water has passed under the bridge since then, but different designers still interpret the success of Jonathan Blow’s work in different ways. Someone uses the indie format for a story personal stories, which are impossible in high-budget projects. Some release independent titles for the sake of experimentation - to show hitherto unprecedented gameplay, design, ideas, completely forgetting about presentation and semantic content. Alas, few people realized that the magic of Braid was the elegant combination of finely structured, carefully thought out gameplay and the narrative that goes hand in hand with it. It is a shame that Blow, the author of the masterpiece, does not seem to have grasped the reason for the success of his most important creation.

You can talk a lot about The Witness for a long time - and talk about it in different ways. Like many similar works, it is impossible to objectively evaluate the puzzle, it is too specific. Even just recommending it and saying “everyone should try this!” It won’t work either - that’s the essence of “games are not for everyone.”

You can approach the ambitious puzzle from two points of view: as an independent work or as the brainchild of Jonathan Blow, a man who is now giving interviews left and right about the difficulties of creating a truly original work. Unfortunately, no matter how you look at it, The Witness is disappointing. It's disappointing as a game about a mysterious piece of land with hundreds of riddles. Disappointing as a new puzzle from the author of Braid.

The Witness is hard to understand: for the short Monastery they give a Gold Trophy, but for the boring Symmetry they only give a Silver Trophy.

“You wake up alone on an island full of complex and surprising mysteries. You have forgotten who you are and how you got to the island, so there is only one thing left to do: explore the area - maybe there is something here that will help you regain your memory and find your way home,” - with such beautiful words, the authors invite potential buyers on the Steam page. What are you waiting for after such an intriguing plot? First of all, combining storytelling and gameplay. So that each puzzle is unique, so that it moves the plot a little, so that by solving problems you can learn new things about the world, its inhabitants and yourself. The Witness does the exact opposite - the game has no narrative at all, and the vast majority of puzzles are as similar to each other as two peas in a pod. Are you tuned in to Myst? Get a collection of identical faceless labyrinths, only instead of a pencil you will have to use a mouse or PS4 analog stick.

Metaphorically speaking, playing through The Witness is akin to walking through a gallery with hundreds of nearly identical paintings on display. Yes, from a technical point of view, they are all a little different (in some places an apple hangs on a tree, in others a pear) and are executed diligently, but the essence of the absolute majority is the same - and having familiarized yourself with some exhibit, you can calmly say, that I saw them all. Rarely, rarely does the eye set its sights on a unique and even beautiful canvas that you honestly want to admire - and then you notice with surprise (and even some disgust) that it too has been duplicated twenty times, depriving it of any semblance of individuality. Having dealt with three hundred tasks, you involuntarily gain respect for such representatives of the genre as Portal, because they (and their developers) understand a simple truth: what is pleasant in small doses is not necessarily good in large doses. Especially when the authors forget to add to their brainchild a reason not to abandon the passage halfway.

Of course, the very fact of solving gradually more complex puzzles will please someone and give them strength to reach the (disappointing) ending - but the game and its designers do not motivate in any way, or even try to hold the interest of the person sitting behind it. No rewards, no new information about the mystery surrounding the island, nothing worthwhile. Only more and more identical tasks that lose their charm an hour after the start, as well as a vague suspicion that there is a plot hidden somewhere here. “You just need to endure a few hundred riddles, and everything will fall into place!”

It is only towards the end that The Witness gets into some interesting experiments.

The Witness approach has a right to exist, of course, but not in this particular case: Thekla, Inc. I made a small island, but most of the time you are forced to stare at grids, and interaction with the environment is limited, as if you were controlling not a person with arms and legs, but a walking cursor capable of only drawing lines. Rare puzzles related to the scenery (forcing you to look at things in perspective, look for shadows or listen to sounds) noticeably contrast with the despondency of the “snakes” created using the copy-paste technique - at these moments the puzzle seems to remember that it is not a mobile game after all, but actually a relatively high-budget (by the standards of the genre) release for PC and PS4 with open world. He remembers, and then continues to spit out cells, nets and similar “interesting things”. With the same success, the action could take place in a bathroom with shiny tiles and mirrors. It could only get better.

This is not a joke, because the island also cannot be considered an advantage - yes, it is beautiful, visually rich and aesthetically diverse, but it exists on its own, separately from the gameplay, almost in no way improving the impression, but only worsening it. In The Witness you constantly have to rush back and forth between puzzles, because there is no correct sequence of passage - there are no tutorials as a class, and the rules for solving some puzzles are “explained” (if trial and error can be called an explanation) in different parts of the location. Don’t understand what to do with “stars”? Walk slowly to the pier, wait a long time for the boat, slowly (even at the very high speed) swim to the tree houses and fight the nets to find answers. Having solved a couple of local puzzles and mastered the rules, you need to return - the same way, spending about 10 minutes on the whole thing. And so on all the time. You can take a shortcut, but even taking this into account, toothless backtracking for the sake of backtracking at snail's speeds gets boring.

This is where the question arises: why bother building a hub that you can’t quickly navigate, which is full of visible and invisible walls, and which is almost not involved in the gameplay? Take a look at beautiful trees you can do it anywhere, and no one bothered you to easily fit labyrinth puzzles into some menu. So what’s the point of making a “sandbox” without the merits of the genre, but only with its shortcomings, and adding boring puzzles to it? And just like that - someone just wanted to make an island, spend time and money on designing a rather complex location from a design point of view, which should have been spent on creating better riddles or placing meaningful touches and clues.

But often experiments can only cause headaches.

And here we smoothly move to the person of Jonathan Blow, author of The Witness. He spent three years of his life on Braid, and in that game you could feel his effort, a maddening desire not just to push through some ideas that don’t fit well with each other, but to create an integral work that works both in parts and in their sum . Was a similar focus successful in 2016? Hardly.

The tragedy of The Witness is that there is no soul, no creative impulse, no passion in it - only the exorbitant ego of its creator, and no amount of breathtaking landscapes can hide this. Traveling through the lifeless beauty of the island, it is difficult to escape the suspicion that Jonathan Blow had been nurturing the project for so many years not because he sincerely wanted to give the world a wonderful work, but out of simple vanity - the desire to prove to everyone (and, first of all, to himself) that Braid was not an accidental success. The last statement, of course, is pure speculation on my part, but isn’t that what the author was trying to achieve? Speculation about the meaning of your work? The irony is that in his desperate attempt to impress, delight the audience and “make them think” (which he himself seems unsure of), the creator achieves the opposite effect. Blow overdid it. He and his product are capable of causing rejection with their unjustified highbrow.

More than 650 riddles! An entire island designed by real architects! Thousands of footstep sounds! All these numbers and values evoke involuntary thoughts that the author is trying to take over the audience with numbers, as if without thinking about what this gives to the gaming experience, whether such an approach is justified. Undoubtedly, 8 years is a long time; not everyone has the patience and desire to record so many side audio files. But is it worth praising the game for such delights?

What is the point of six hundred slightly different puzzles if only dozens are memorable and truly surprising, and everything else looks like filler? Why waste time and money designing a landscape where there's not much to do except stare at panels and find the same icon on surfaces? Who needs all that stomping when it's used in four optional puzzles? Some will say that everything is justified to help immerse yourself deeper into the world of the game. Invisible walls, low movement speed and the inability to jump from a small ledge, forcing you to make a long detour – does this also contribute to “immersion”? Oh, yes, because “the game assumes that an intelligent person whose time is valuable is interacting with it.” Really.

The Witness is woven from strange contradictions that are hard to ignore. An island open to exploration with nothing to explore. Electronic panels that are powered by apples hanging on a tree - in a world that, for some reason, real architects were hired to model. Ubiquitous pixel hunting in a game that boasts of being filled with smart and fair challenges for smart people.

Beautiful, colorful and so empty. On PS4, moreover, the game constantly loads something in the distance, so it’s not all there, thank God.

The designer wanted the story to be understandable to “one and all”, so that “anyone could experience it”... so he scattered puzzles with rapidly changing bright colors along the way to solving them, turning the passage for some gamers (especially colorblind or epileptics) into a painful hell. Blow stated that the lack of music was an artistic decision so that the player would not be distracted from solving the puzzles. Well, why then do we need non-switchable audiologists broadcasting across everything for tens of minutes?

In general, the small lectures from strangers added to the game demonstrate another problem with The Witness, which destroys the entire concept of an “author’s work” - the absence of any thoughts of the creator himself. Blow hides this behind the monologues of philosophers, scientists, thinkers - despite the fact that they really don’t give anything to the work, they only add pretentiousness and unfounded reasons to call the game “deep”. If you tactically scatter quotes from Nietzsche and Einstein in Fifty Shades of Gray, will the book suddenly take on some deeper meaning?

Moreover, the author goes further and hides hidden puzzles and images in the landscape that can only be seen from a certain perspective. If everything is clear with the first one (solve everything and get secret ending, which with its essence almost spits into the very soul), then what is the meaning of the allusions? What does the tree symbolize as a man lighting a fire? And what about the woman praying at the foot of the mountain, visible thanks to the reflection on the water? As for me, the correct answer is dust in the eyes. Beautiful, impressive in places (just imagine how much work went into its creation!), but still dust, masking the lack of narrative, clear themes and characters. Indeed, why are they needed when no one bothers to draw eyes using tree branches, and hide the image of a turtle or deer in stones, and everyone will consider this as “depth” and “a reason to reflect on the meaning of life and the nature of existence”?

This is where the dissonance between the shell and the filling begins: The Witness treats the viewer with symbolism, gives a whole island to search for answers... but there are no answers. The puzzles have nothing to do with the scenario and do not carry any meaning (“Not a single riddle serves simply to complicate it; each one carries a thought. The whole game is full of meaning” – right?). The game is falling apart, you only need to poke your finger at it slightly or ask a couple of substantive questions. What is there to admire here? There are dozens of other puzzles that are just as, if not more, fun to solve than designing paths from point A to point B in The Witness. And, by the way, they came out earlier.

Some of Thekla, Inc. you can’t refuse – the game really makes you think. Not thoughts about her missing script, the taste of wine, or our place in the cosmos. Reflections on whether it is worth continuing to engage in creativity if good ideas are over. Is it necessary to pile concepts on top of each other simply because you want to, and not because they fit together? Is it necessary to create intrigue and then simply forget about it? Is it better to be the author of one masterpiece or to constantly try to enter the same river (and fail)?

In this case, The Witness can provide a lot of food for thought.
