From the age of 11 he performed on big stages as a vocalist of the Leningrad Radio Choir. Having become a popular artist, Oleg began to release creativity on disks. Among them are the records “Star of Love”, “Lark”, “Romance” and “Love and Separation”, which have become absolute bestsellers. Oleg was repeatedly awarded prestigious titles and titles, and in 2015 he became People's Artist Russia.
The childhood of Oleg Pogudin
Oleg Pogudin was born on December 22, 1968 in a wealthy Leningrad family. His parents most devoted his life to work at the research university of the military-industrial complex. In his free time, his father was fond of singing - it was he who instilled in his son an interest in music. Although, as the singer himself admitted, in childhood he, like thousands Soviet boys, dreamed of outer space, but due to poor health, the dream had to be forgotten. From the age of 7, four long years, the boy honed his skills, so that in 1979 he was accepted into the choir of the Leningrad Radio. Young Oleg it was not difficult to impress the teachers, so in just a few weeks the boy became the main soloist. 
In 1979 - 1982, the young man could be met on such legendary domestic stages: the Oktyabrsky Concert Hall, the Glinka State Academic Chapel. In the same period, he first appeared on radio and television. Moreover, the gifted boy managed to become famous abroad. The boy had an incredibly clear and melodic voice, which even adults envied, and the audience, who at least once visited Oleg's performance, remembered him for many years.
Education of Oleg Pogudin
Pogudin wanted with all the fibers of his soul to become a student at the Leningrad Conservatory of Theater and Music, but there, after graduating from school, he was advised to wait a couple of years, since at this age his voice usually breaks down and becomes rougher. The young man refused to wait and risked submitting documents to LGITMiK, where he was received with open arms. As a student, the young man did not stop improving his vocal skills. In 1990, when it was time to take thesis, Oleg chose a solo performance with compositions by Alexander Vertinsky. The commission was bribed by the fact that the young man did not even try to copy the famous chansonnier, but, on the contrary, impressed the commission with intonation and vocal colors unusual for Vertinsky.
Singing career of Oleg Pogudin
In 1988, Oleg sang in the church choir and even seriously thought about leaving the monastery. A year later, after an internship at the Eugene Theater in the USA, his life changed.In 1990, he was admitted to the Gorky Bolshoi Theater, where he served until 1993. In 1991, the artist's debut album, Star of Love, was released. In 1992, the singer went to Sweden with two concert tours, and a year later a grandiose tour of Russia and neighboring countries followed.

In the first half of the 90s, the singer starred in a number of musicals dedicated to his work: "Lark", "Star of Love", "Gypsy Romance" and "Russian Song and Old Romance". Despite the tight schedule, Oleg continued to create, and soon the records "The Lark" (1993) and "I Will Keep the Words of Love" (1996) saw the light of day. At the age of 29, he was awarded the prestigious Trumpeting Angel award, and 2 years later he was awarded the Tsarskoye Selo Prize for Comprehension of the Soul of Russian Romance. From 2005 to 2006, the singer was the host of the Romance Romance project on the Kultura channel. The program was a cycle of concerts with performances by well-known and young performers who presented the public with forgotten old romances, bard songs, and jazz improvisations.
At 36, Pogudin began teaching at his alma mater. He worked in this position until 2010. In 2007, he became an assistant professor at the St. Petersburg Academy. “Romance is beautiful by nature, and therefore cannot become obsolete,” says Oleg Pogudin. As my beloved Dostoevsky wrote: "Beauty will save the world." And for a Russian person, one of these “saving remedies” may be a romance.
It seems to me that in today's catastrophic conditions of Russian reality, romance for people is like an injection of vital essential vitamins or serum after a bite poisonous snake. On the other hand, performing with romance concerts in America, Sweden, Italy, Germany, France and other countries, I managed to ensure that even those who do not know the Russian language cried in the hall.
But in any case, the words of the singer himself sound not an exaggeration and not a show:
“Perhaps I always sing about love. In the broadest sense of the word: about love, which is the essence of life.
Pogudin treats art thoughtfully and seriously. On stage, he avoids external effects: everything is organic, strict, from the very depths of his heart and with such confidence in the listener that the audience literally freezes, and then explodes with applause.
Pogudin returns the art of romance, urban song from tearful sensitivity, pretentiousness to inner severity, noble simplicity and strong emotion ... He does not address the crowd, but to the individual, to his eyes, hearing, soul.
Fans of the romance note with gratitude again and again: in Pogudin's manner there is not a drop of drawing, a hysterical anguish characteristic of many performers of lyrical songs. Here he sings "Burn, burn, my star ...", and an elderly woman whispers: "Already frost on the skin ...".
Once, during a concert, a box was sent to him from the audience. When he opened it in the dressing room, he saw that there was a medal "For the Defense of Leningrad." In a short anonymous note that was attached to this gift, it was said that the owner of the medal, who received it immediately after the war, was sure that Oleg should now have it. Isn't this the main symbol of his mission - to protect our souls from the temptations of the moment and indifference.
By the way, it is difficult to name the age limits of Pogudin's faithful audience: elegant ladies with gray hair in spectacular hairstyles and young ladies in romantic curls, respectable gentlemen and democratic students listen to him with the same enthusiasm - talent finds its way into any heart!
With his work, Oleg Pogudin, who gathers an audience of many thousands, convincingly proves that the romance, traditionally considered a chamber genre, can be successful on the largest stage venues. The work of Oleg Pogudin is undoubtedly one of the brightest and most significant phenomena of the true modern culture of Russia.
At the end of October, Oleg Pogudin goes on a big tour of America and Canada. From October 22 to November 14, he will play 13 concerts: Philadelphia, New York, New Jersey, Washington, Boston, Toronto, Chicago, Vancouver, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Denver, Atlanta, Miami, these are the places where the audience will be listen, applaud and admire the singer's voice. Judging by the posters posted on the singer's website, the concert is called "Star of Love".
