Primary school student portfolio - design. Elementary School Student Portfolio

Good afternoon, dear visitor of our site. If your child is a student elementary school- this article may be of interest to you. Our children attend one of the gymnasiums in Minsk. And already in the first grade, we were faced with the fact that it turns out that the student needs to have a portfolio. The fact that, of course, the parents, and not the student, will do it, is not interesting to the school. One way or another, there were two options: the first and easiest option was to download the finished student portfolio on one of the many sites offering such services. However, in this case, the portfolio of a desk mate may be the twin portfolio of your favorite child, which our parents could not allow. The second option is to show imagination, and let the child help you a little, and at the same time gain new skills. Of course, there is a third option - to turn to professionals, but we decided that teamwork to create a portfolio of a primary school student will give an additional impetus to the development of relationships with children and allow them to feel independent.

Tips for Building an Elementary Student Portfolio

Do not include in your student's portfolio children's photos of the child, where he is in a stroller, with a pacifier, and the like. It is clear that they are dear to you, but remember that this portfolio, although a small schoolboy, is already an adult. Leave absolutely children's photos for the home archive.

Let your child do some simple operations, put down asterisks, leaves, chickens, change the background on the portfolio pages, all that you can show him, and he is able to do.

When writing text for photographs, ask your child what to write. A first grader can formulate what he would like to see in his portfolio. At the same time, the portfolio will still look not like the work of an adult, but the work of a child.

Be sure to add My Goals, My Dreams section to your portfolio, or combine My Goals and Dreams for example. Ask your first-grader what he dreams of, what he wants to become, find photos on these topics, insert them into a portfolio, sign the text. You will have another reason to draw your child's attention to the fact that dreams come true through goals. Setting a goal and achieving it is the way to get closer to your dream. Tell your little student that his initial goal is, for example, to finish elementary school well and pass the exams for entering the gymnasium, because, for example, one can become a "space doctor" only after receiving a higher medical education, and in order to get a higher medical education need...and so on. Lack of understanding of schoolchildren primary school and not only primary, why they go to school - one of the most important problems of raising a child.

Portfolio content

Here is the content of which the portfolio of our first-graders consists

1. Let's get to know each other

2. My family

3. Preparing for school - my kindergarten

4. My first class

5. My colleagues and colleagues

6.My goals and dreams

7. My hobbies

8. Activities of our class

9. My results

10. Information about the circles that I attend

Briefly about each section of the portfolio

Let's get acquainted: in this section of the portfolio, you must place a photo of the child close-up, preferably in a business suit, write his last name and first name, birthday, place of residence, history of his name (optional).

Preparation for school- my kindergarten: in this section of the student's portfolio, it is worth remembering the educators kindergarten where did your child go preschool education. Of course, they have made a significant contribution to your children. The feeling of gratitude must be instilled from childhood.

My first class: All parents have photos of first graders on their first line, first bell. In this portfolio section, you can place a photo of this event and, of course, photos of the first teacher. Naturally, all photographs must be signed. Place some text, consult with the child. You will make a portfolio at a time when your child will know his classmates by name, and will be able to help you sign photos, choose from all the most important for him. It may be necessary to ask the parents of your child's classmates for permission to post photos on portfolio pages. We are all different, and many take personal space very seriously.

My colleagues and collegues: this section can be called my friends or my comrades. It is clear from the name that the section should tell about your child's classmates or about his friends outside of school.

My goals and dreams: probably from the time your child began to realize himself as a person, he told you more than once what he wants to become. Every year, and sometimes every month, his dreams changed. But closer to school, your child is no longer so quickly changing his addictions. Talk, find out what the child dreams of becoming, at the same time remind him that his immediate goal is to finish primary school well, which of course will bring your child closer to the realization of his dreams. In general, this is a very interesting section. Constant attention on your part to goals and dreams will teach your child to think that you can’t let everything take its course, we make our own life, and goals help us move in the right direction.

My hobbies: This is one of the most interesting portfolio sections to complete. Here you can place and talk about circles, sports sections, hobbies of your child, how he likes to relax. Ask him, you can learn a lot. Constant employment, problems prevent us from communicating with the child to the extent that we would like. Therefore, do not miss the moment - a portfolio can become your common cause.

Our class activities: This section should be lined, as well as the next two. Here you can write down what activities your child participated in in your class, and what results he achieved with the class: collection of waste paper, various sports events, theatrical performances- the school is full of such events in abundance.

My results: in this section, your teacher can mark the results of your child, various kinds of test tasks, drawings of your student are also invested in it.

Below is what we got. There were photographs in the frames, but they were cut out in order to preserve the personal space of the people around.

Interaction with parents

Most parents, being sure that a portfolio will definitely help when entering a university, are very painstaking about filling it out, and some are convinced of this by teachers, creating motivation to create a portfolio for their children.

It is very important to make parents your allies in the difficult task of collecting a portfolio. Therefore, initially it is worth attracting active, caring parents. A system of advisory assistance is needed: consultations, seminars on designing and filling out portfolio pages.

It is important to teach to observe, to notice everything new and interesting and by all means to fix, write down. With the help of a portfolio, parents see their child from the outside, his desires, interests.

Portfolio can also be used as additional material when studying the family - its way of life, interests, traditions. Observing children and their parents in the process of creating a portfolio, teachers noted that such events contribute to the establishment of warmer relationships in the family.

One of the main results of working on a portfolio is that parents learn to observe and notice the changes taking place, to systematize them. Some help can be provided by memos, questionnaires, based on which parents can highlight especially bright and interesting moments in the development of their child.

Portfolio guide for students

1. Start your portfolio work with a story about yourself, your family, and your hobbies.

2. Compiling a portfolio is not a race for all kinds of certificates. The participation process itself is important, although a high result, of course, pleases.

3. Fill out the portfolio pages carefully, show your imagination and creativity where necessary, because your portfolio should be different from others.

4. Know how to notice your even small successes, rejoice in them!

How to make a portfolio for junior and senior students?

The purpose of creating a portfolio for schoolchildren is to identify the main abilities and collect information about the achievements of the child.
Creative work, in this regard, should be carried out jointly with parents. Not every parent, when starting to create a resume for their child, knows how to arrange it beautifully and correctly. Consider this issue on the examples given in the proposed article.

The best portfolios for junior schoolchildren for boys: an example, a sample, a photo

With boys, elementary school age category, we prepare a creative model of a folder with documents in the same way.

Only change:

  1. Portfolio theme. Girls have some favorite characters against the background of the document, boys have others
  2. The individual characteristics of the boy. The interests of the sexes, at this age, in babies, as well as in any other, are very different. It is important to take this into account when designing a portfolio for boys. Mom should not do all the work for the child, based only on her emotions in the perception of the world.

Video: Student Portfolio

So we have reached another experiment of the Ministry of Education. At the parent-teacher meetings at the school, the teachers informed the parents that for each student there should be a primary school student portfolio.

Perplexed parents began to ask teachers a lot of questions. What is student portfolio how to make it? What should it be? What should be included in a portfolio? Why do you need portfolio for elementary grades?

After the parent-teacher meeting, I met friends whose children study at another school and found out that they were also delighted with this innovation. But at their school they decided to do it easier, they ordered student portfolio for all grades in elementary school. They were given a portfolio for parent meeting, at home they filled out the pages and handed them over to the teacher.

Elementary School Student Portfolio

I am a first grader. Student Portfolio

My portfolio.
1 class

Folder set. Portfolio of the second grader

To alleviate the fate of the parents of our class and my own, I came up with a proposal to the teacher regarding the purchase of ready-made school portfolios at the school where my child studies. But, as it turned out, compiling a portfolio is a creative process that helps a child to reveal his Creative skills, as well as conduct a self-analysis of their school life for a certain period. Motivates the child to take part in learning activities and creative work. Increases self-esteem and self-confidence. Therefore, ready-made school portfolios are not welcome.
Then I started to study the information... Having surfed the Internet, it became clear that there is no single standard for portfolio design yet.

Having gone through this difficult path, I would like to help other parents who are just faced with compiling portfolio for a student.

So what do you need for a portfolio:
1. folder-registrar
2. files… no, not right, lots of files
3. A4 paper
4. colored pencils (for drawing by a child)
5. printer
6. and, of course, patience and time

The task of parents is to help children build a portfolio. Suggest how to fill in the sections correctly, select the necessary photos, drawings.

On the this moment the portfolio has exemplary sections that can be supplemented with various interesting information:

1.Title page student portfolio
This sheet contains the data of the child - Surname, Name, Patronymic, photo of the child, educational institution and the city where the child is studying, the date of the beginning and end of the portfolio.

2. Section - My world:
This section adds information that is important to the child. Sample pages:

Personal information (About me)- date of birth, place of birth, age. You can enter your home address and phone number.
My name- write what the name of the child means, where it came from, you can indicate in honor of whom it was named (for example, grandfather). Also, please indicate famous people bearing this name.
My family– write short story about his family, or if there is a desire and time, then about each member of the family. Attach to this story photos of relatives or a drawing of a child as he sees his family. In this section, you can attach the pedigree of the child.
My city (I live)- in this section we indicate the city of residence of the child, in what year and by whom it was founded, what this city is famous for, what interesting places eat.
Route map to school- we draw together with the child a safe path from home to school. We mark dangerous places - car roads, railway tracks, etc.
My friends- here we list the child's friends (last name, first name), you can attach a photo of friends. We also write about a friend's hobbies or common interests.
My hobbies (My interests)- on this page you need to tell what the child likes to do, what he is fond of. At the request of the child, you can tell about the circles / sections where he additionally goes.

3. Section - My School:

My school- the address of the school, the phone number of the administration, you can stick a photo of the institution, the full name of the director, the beginning (year) of study.
My class- indicate the class number, stick a general photo of the class, and you can also write short story about the class.
My teachers- fill in the data about the class teacher (full name + short story, about what he is), about teachers (subject + full name).
My school subjects- give short description for each subject, i.e. We help the child understand what he needs. You can also write your attitude to the subject. For example, mathematics is a difficult subject, but I try because I want to learn how to count well or I like music because I am learning to sing beautifully.
My social work (social work) - it is advisable to fill out this section with photographs where the child took part in school life (for example, he spoke at a holiday, designed a class, a wall newspaper, read poetry at a matinee, etc.) + a brief description of the impression / emotions from performing social activities.
My impressions (school activities, sightseeing activities)- everything is standard here, we write a short review-impression of visiting a child with an excursion class, a museum, an exhibition, etc. Feedback can be made with a photo from this event or draw a picture.

4. Section - My progress:

My studies- make sheet titles for each school subject(mathematics, Russian language, reading, music, etc.). In these sections, well-done work will be included in files - independent, control, book reviews, various reports, etc.
My art- here we place the creativity of the child. Drawings, crafts, his writing activity - fairy tales, stories, poems. We also don’t forget about large-scale works - we take pictures and add them to our portfolio. If desired, the work can be signed - the name, as well as where the work participated (if it was exhibited at a competition / exhibition).
My achievements- we make copies, and boldly place in this section - commendable sheets, certificates, diplomas, final attestation sheets, letters of thanks, etc.
My best work(Works I'm proud of)- Works that the child considers important and valuable for the whole year of study will be invested here. And we lay out the remaining (less valuable, according to the child) material, making room for sections for the new school year.
